Confused with HTC Buzz Custom recovery!!!! - General Questions and Answers

Hi,
I use HTC BUZZ (Wildfire) both as lab rat and for talking. Recently i saw some ICS rom for Buzz. I rooted my phone before using Revolutionary and used cyanogen7 mod, then return to Stock firmware 2.2.1 after few days using a software. Now I want to install the custom rom and when I checked the boot menu the phone this is what i got.
-Revolutionary-
Buzz PVT SHIP S-OFF
HBOOT-6.01.1002
MICROP-0662
TOUCH PANEL-ATMELC03_16ac
RADIO-3.35.20.10
Well when i enter the recovery mode i am getting a red taboo sign...as far as i can guess i need to install custom recover
My question?
* Am i good to flash custom recovery system and then go ahead with the rom installation or not?
* Or do i need to do any other customization..if so can you please suggest me and send me the required links.
Thanks in advance

[Q] Get out from Boot Loop

Hi all! I will appreciate if you help me with this.
I've got last OTA update with 2.3.5, but I'm really disappointed of Sense 3.0
So I've decided to install a custom ROM for the first time. I've heard of Revolutionary S-OFF but It doesn't support HBOOT 2.00.0002
I've found other way to unlock my Desire S. I did this with htcdev site. Then I've installed 4EXPRecovery and turn on root on my phone. All was successful until I reached to installing custom ROM. I've put Cyanogen nightly ROM to SD card, then entered recovery and wiped system. Then installed ROM from zip. This was successful but I stucked in white screen with HTC logo when trying to boot the device.
I've tried many ROMs like Cyanogen, MIUI, Virtue etc. Each time attempts resulting into white HTC screen.
Now I have
***UNLOCKED***
SAGA PVT SHIP S-ON RL
HBOOT-2.00.0002
What can I do to revive my device?
You must be lost, this is where you should be.

Before installing new Rom is it necessary to perform a full wipe (data, system and cache). Make a full wipe and try again. Make also a Goldcard - this will erase all the data on your SDcard, so make a backup first (check the tool here) an try to flash the ROM with it.

you must have pure stock rom to update by OTA
no mods,no custom kernel,no recovery
in this way you can use an ruu.exe to return the device into completely stock situation
but still you can flash a jelly bean rom if you have already the latest fw version
the problem is when your device was not booting after installing a rom because you didn't enable smartflash from recovery(that feature is only for S-ON devices as yours)
and to do that you have to install 4ext recovery

[Q] bricked sensation xe, help

Hey i bricked my htc sensation xe while trying to get the Android 4.1.2 Viper S 3.1.2 Jelly Bean Custom Firmware rom. I followed this tutorial:
cannot post links because im new here sorry, its the first link when you google "vipers 3.1.2 sensation techbeasts"
this is my current situation: when i try to start the phone the green htc sign appears for a few seconds, then the screen turns black and nothing happens. i can access bootloader, fastboot (it connects to my computer) and i can access the recovery menu. when i open bootloader
this information appears:
*** unlocked ***
pyramid pvt ship s-on rl
hboot-1.29.0000
eMMC-boot
Mar 2 2012,18:14:34
this is how it happened: around 10 hours ago i had a completely stock htc sensation xe with Android 4.0.3. Because of perfomance issues
and my need to costumize stuff (years ago i had a jailbreaked ipod touch 2g and it was fun costumizing skins and adding tweaks ) i decided to
install a custom rom on my sensation xe, and i found the vipers 3.1.2 rom online. so i found a simple looking tutorial (link in introduction) to install it. i oversaw the little note that i need a ROOTED sensation and just started following the tutorial. after running into small problems i found out that i have to unlock the phone, which i did successfully with the htcdev website. after flashing the boot.img i was told to reboot the phone and it blackscreens after the htc logo ( it doesnt even show the quietly brilliant part ). its still not rooted by the way.
now i need help from someone, i am completely inexperienced with androids and would like to get my phone back to running, preferably with vipers 3.1.2 .my ideas are to either get it back to stock rom and try the tutorial again (this time with rooting it first ) or maybe to just root it now somehow and to carry on with the vipers rom installation. but i dont want to just go ahead and try it out and maybe hardbrick it. can somebody please help me out and tell me what to do?
You need to install custom recovery and flash a rom of your choice through recovery. The part with flashing boot.img comes after flashing the rom if your phone is not s-off.
Try finding some tutorials for all of the things I told you.

Need way more info my friend... R u s-on / s-off? Unlocked bootloader? Rooted? Bootloader details? What r you trying to achive?
To get bootloader details, pull the battery out for a min then put back in then press and hold volume down + power button (so both same time)
hey! thanks for the reply I know this is an old phone now .
heres what i know
SAGA PVT SHIP S-ON RL
HBOOT-2.00.0002
RADIO-3822.10.08.04_M
eMMc- boot
i can unlock bootloader i relocked it to use a RUU but it didnt work.
I just want my phone to work again regardless of version but iv tried 6 or 7 RUU and flashing roms etc
What I would adore is a link to a RUU that will work as they are just a exe but if there is amore complicated way id need simple steps to follow. I also have the htc desire s toolkit . it flashed a ruu zip for me and it all worked except the signature failed? so it didnt work
Thanks in advance
You can't install older RUU if you don't do misc_version or GOLDCARD.For me that worked.
You have to unlock bootloader(HTCDev) and flash recovery.img (I use 4ext).
Please check this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2273016.
From what I can see you want to install new rom or repair old.You can unlock your phone and flash any rom but install RUU you need newer RUU that match your CID.Check this guide.Be careful bc installing RUU you install new hboot radio and everything else. Not just system.
For you it's better to flash new rom when you unlock bootloader.Don't forget to flash boot.img via fastboot after you flash rom and gapps.

DESIRE S: S-ON how to install Stock Android

Hello to everyone!
I'm in a dead end guys, so please help me out here.
I have HTC Desire S, which I unlocked using HTCdev Unlock tool and my phone is still S-ON some details below about Hboot etc.

----------------------------------
So I would like to re-install the stock ROM and did read a lot of threads on the forum but ended up not being able to install the RUU for my phone. :crying:
I was not able to update my ROM, not sure why. At a certain point in the update RUU tells me that it's not being able to update my ROM and so it suggests debug procedure to try again. Which I did 3 times and ended up with my custom ROM with no changes what so ever.
I'm currently using this custom ROM and I downloaded RUU_SAGA_ICS_35_S_HTC_EU_14.01.401.2_20.76.30.0835_3831.19.00.110_275068 as I'm from Europe ( I think I picked up the correct one, did I?).
So please help me recover to stock if that's possible in my situation.
Kind regards!

When you unlock bootloader it doesn't make it s off it just allows you to flash custom roms from fastboot so if you want to go back to stock you need to relock your bootloader from fastboot and then run that RUU.

Do I need to prepare the phone (clear stuff from the custom ROM using the custom recovery) before going back to stock android using RUU, or should I just use the "fastboot oem lock" command?
NVM: I re-locked it.. and ran the RUU - everything is working fine now.
Thank you so much!

I am on stock ROM, SL-ON and the same HBOOT(the only difference being, I have a unit that I bought here in India). I want to try out some custom ROMs to see how my device performs; with an option to get back to stock ROM later. Please tell me how did you install another ROM and finally managed to get it back to stock.

Here is what's needed:
1) Unlock the hboot, keeping status S-ON and installing a custom recovery + instructions on how to flash custom ROM.
Go read through this article - [Guide] How to root, install EXT4 recovery and custom ROM on HBOOT 2.00.0002
2) Something to bear in mind when trying Cyanogen Mod ROMs is that after CM10 they all need you to use the latest version of either EXT4 or TWRP, or the ROM will not install and an error message will appear on the recovery screen.
/4EXT_Recovery_Touch_v1.0.0.6_RC2/ or /twrp-2.7.1.0-saga-recovery/ - at least I had no troubles flashing any of the custom ROMs I tried.
3) Re-Locking the hboot and installing stock HTC Android using RUU.
Go here and download the RUU for your phone/region etc. - HTC Saga (HTC Desire S) Shipped Roms (RUUs)
Then execute the following: - ARTICLE
Relocking BOOTLOADER Steps
--------------------------
1.First when you unlocked your phone you received the fastboot file + an unlock token from HTC.
2.Put the files in a folder you can access easily or if you have them saved do the following.
3.Now put your cursor to your Fastboot Folder And Press SHIFT+Right click on the Fastboot folder and click 'Run as Command Prompt'
4.Minimize the Command prompt
5.Now on your HTC DESIRE S Turn it off and load into bootloader (press Power+ volume down and hold until a white screen pops up)
6.Then use your volume up and down to control it (Volume up goes up, Volume down goes down (duh) and pressing power button enters directory)
7.press Volume down to fastboot on your HTC and click the power button
8.Go back to your computer and open your minimized command prompt
9.Type in this code
fastboot oem lock
10.If you did this successfully a fail word will come up and your phone will shut down. Reload your HTC bootloader and you will see relocked on your pink header. (Note: this product cant be 'locked')
11. RUN the RUU you downloaded and follow the on screen instructions - the installation might take about 10min or less to finish.
