Is there a bootloader unlock for build 3.17? - AT&T, Rogers HTC One X, Telstra One XL

Hi again. I just found out from someone on AC that my Rogers one x is running build 3.17. Is the a way to unlock the bootloader for this at this time, or is it too new? I want to root my device as soon as possible. It is also running android 4.1.1. Thanks.

Just head over to htcdev.com and unlock it ...and flash twrp than root or Rom... I think you can only run jb sense roms right now but maybe the cm10 devs have implemented the kernel changes

Thank you very much. I regisyered with them today and am just waiting for my activation email. Cheers.

I think the email should come pretty much immediately. If not, you might have to register again using another email address, or contact the website tech support. The HTCDev.com website is very glitchy.

You cannot search, you cannot root, in fact this phone cannot even make calls.Return your phone and exchange for an iPhone. Then go to iPhone forums and post many threads asking how to jailbreak. Thank you.

[Q] Noob question regarding firmware

Hey I just picked up the HTC One X today from Rogers and I'm in love <3. However, I must first make it sexy (Root, unlock bootloader etc.) and in order to do this I need some knowledge of something i'm sure everyone knows. Basically in the forums I saw some programs that offered a root via a tool or an unlocked bootloader, but its listed under a title containing the numbers 1.85, is that referring to the firmware? If so how can i check the firmware on my phone I cant find any number like that :S Thank you and i'm sure this is one hell of a noob question. Thanks for the help in advance ^_^
Settings, about, software information, more, build number.
The build number is the firmware I believe.

Thanks for your help, my build number is 1.73.631. 1 CL54373 release-keys.
Can I still use these tools to root my phone and unlock the boot loader?
Yep, just read some of the stickies guides.

I have the Rogers htc one x as well. Let me know what you did to attain root, recovery and bootloader unlocked when you're done. =)
Thank you I shall attempt to load a custom rom on my phone, ill take it as a self birthday gift. Thanks for the help

Sure ill let you know if I decide to do it, I'm still kind of scared I had the HTC amaze and panache which I rooted and s-off but I had an sd card slot which saved me countless times with this phone there is none and it seems really scary.

There isn't really any active work toward s-off for the One S. I think the hope is that anything the Att One-X guys come up with will work on or phone also. So there is still hope.
Also, you can unlock your phone without going through HTCdev. Therefore not losing your warrenty but you would need files from someones phone who is unlocked. The link below explains it but DO NOT try it with the files in the link as it won't work. You need the files from a One S.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1732980
Well, I think that an exploit for the one X cannot be used for the one S because of different chip used on the devices... We have a Qualcomm one while the one X has tegra. I would check the link that you have pass me but I think that it will be hard to find someone who would pass me the right files...

The AT&T (and some other NA carriers) One X (AKA One XL) has the MSM8960 which is also a S4 Krait+Adreno 225 combo, just with an LTE modem.

It would work for sure. If someone has a device going back to t-mobile or HTC for replacement we could use their partitions.

TAMPERED isn't such a great issue. It goes away by just flashing a RUU.
The real issue is the RELOCKED message you get when relocking the bootloader. To prevent this RELOCKED message, and to have it displaying LOCKED isntead (this way the bootloader won't appear to have been ever unlocked), you have to achieve S-OFF. That's what they're working on, if I'm not mistaken.

It would still show tampered. The only reason you would want to do it this way is so your phone wouldn't show up in HTC's database of phones they unlocked. When you unlock through HTC Dev you agree that unlock the phone may void parts of your warranty.
And as the other poster above stated even if you locked the boot-loader again it would say Relocked instead of Locked. So there isn't really much a reason to do it this way.
Well I hope that a way to unlock the phone without leaving traces will eventually cames out. I do not want to use htcdev because I have to keep this phone for 30 months as I have taken it with an operator contract, so if something happen and I have unlocked it then I would have no warranty.

This is the answer. HTC Dev is not helpful in the rooting process. It makes things harder than they need to be and it let's HTC track that you have rooted the phone so you can't claim warrenty.

i got the answer from HTCdev:
My name is Enrique and I am a Technical Support Agent for the HTC Written Team.
I'm sorry to hear that you are experiencing difficulties with this process.
The reason for this is that during the last few days it was possible to experience short time outages in services provided via web page www.htcdev.com.
To receive the unlocking file, I would like you to perform the following steps:
1. Please check spam box in your email.
2. Please try to unlock your bootloader using different email address to receive the unlocking file.
3. Try to unlock the bootloader again during the next couple of days.
I am confident that this will resolve your query, in the unlikely event that this does not please call or instant chat to one of our Technical Support Agents who will be waiting to guide you through step by step.

My advice would be to read faq before posting such a frequently posted question or at least try searching.
For a guy like you, I'd tell you there was no way even if there was a way.
But there is no way.

As you're with Telstra you will be able to unlock the bootloader on your device through htcdev then install the custom recovery then flash a rom with root as there is currently no root exploit for Jellybean.
As suggested above though do your homework first.
