Okay, let me start off by saying i did not discover this so no props to me. essentally your going to be using QPST EFS File explorer and HEX Editor. Open EFS File explorer and connect >will need your SPC code< then you should have a folder Named "nvm" it should be locked, that is okay. next go to the parent directory "/" right click>new>Directory and type "/open sesame door" i know, i know, sounds dumb but it works. Reboot and reconnect. Your nvm file should be unlocked. Open the "num" folder, then find and copy to your desktop the files named "0" and "1943". Open in win hex and zero them out then save. go back to the location in EFS where you found these files right click in the field copy from PC and do it for both files. WHALA!
Zero meid

OK, i've unlocked my nvm file, but in the num folder there is no "0" or "1943" on my htc evo 4g.
Is there another file that might have it? there is a "0.prl" in the "nvm" folder but not "num".
thank you.

nv_data.bin not found
I did what u did , but nv_data.bin file not found
i used hc-ktool to backup efs , and also nv_data.bin not found
Ok, I'm going to try to keep this brief and to the point. The simple method is this:
1) Put shifty in diag mode.
2) Open QPST's EFS Explorer
3) Create a empty folder off of root called "open sesame door", minus the quotes
4) Reboot phone
5) Put her back in diag mode
6) Open QPST's EFS Explorer again.. You'll notice your NVM directory is now unlocked.
7) Go to the sub dir "NUM" under NVM, and copy files 0, 1 and 1943 to wherever
8) File 0 is your pesn (reversed), file 1 is the checksum for pesn (reversed), and file 1943 is your meid. Attached to this are these files 0'ed out, with proper pesn checksum. Delete the originals off of phone, copy mine in their place, delete open sesame door dir and reboot. PRESTO! Both zero'ed and ready to be repaired.
Any help for someone who has none of those files in the folder? Thanks in advance.
Possibly..
Did you create the folder "open sesame door" off of your phones EFS root? If you did, did you spell sesame correctly? If you did, did you reboot your phone after creating said directory, then checked NVM dir only after rebooting? If the answer is yes to all of the above, then no I probably cannot help you =/

what baseband is your shift?
Hi im new to the site and am having a issue and looking for help i recently upgraded my infuse to gingerbread ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1508619 ) and jow my sd card isnt rexonized on phone but shows up on computer when taken out....maybe a noob question and if so sorry i searched the forums and couldnt find anything
thanks for any and all help
You need to open root explorer or open rom up with 7zip or winrar on computer and go to system/etc scroll all the way to the bottom and open up the volds. fstab file with text editor and scroll to the bottom of the page to the very last line and change the end of the last line from mmc1 to mmc2.. make sure if you open in root explorer you mount system to r/w before making the edit. Then save and close, then reboot. That will solve your issue.

ok did everything except when i try to open the .fstab it wont let me in es file explorer or on my computer but i can get into the .conf one....do i specifically need root explorer or some program for my computer to edit this file
also just wanted to thank you for the help and upgrade everything besides the sd card is working great def. will donate when i get a chance
Root Explorer comes in VERY handy. One of the big 3 (Titanium Backup & Rom Manager being the other 2).
I guess this isn't SG3 specific, so if I should post elsewhere please let me know.
Phone is stock, not rooted.
I used an app called "unrar free" to extract the content of a rar file. I realised afterwards I'd extracted it in the wrong place, so deleted the extracted files, most disappeared but one can't be removed, ES file explorer refuses to remove it and wont rename it either.
The file name includes the character è, I think this is the cause of the problem as this character appears to be ® - I think unrar free screwed up when it created it.
The file is in a folder I have full access to, so if ES file explorer can't delete it, what can ?
Thanks
Try using terminal emulator and using cd to get into the address to delete it

Perfect! thanks.
I find root explorer succeeds whenever es fails, is not just for root, is better at what it does even on stock
Edit: seems I forgot to change my build prop back lol, oh well it's a jewel of a post I guess

Nice did it work? That's what I end up having to do in windows and Linux when something like this happens

Hi just having a look around on my N8000 I noticed the EFS folder is empty, just wondering if anyone else has an empty EFS folder. Need root, file manager to / and look in the efs folder.
Problem sorted forgot to enable root explorer in Estrong file manager so that's why nothing was showing up.
Mate, back up your EFS folder, If it goes bye bye so does your phone and mobile internet.
No-one in their right mind will give the details of their EFS file to another person as it includes their UNIQUE IMEI number....
Do you need root to backup it? (on my other phones I've used ktool but it requires root)

I believe it does as you are accessing the root drive for the information.
Not really sure as I root all my phones/tabs within an hour of getting them
where is it located btw?
i saved mine but completely forgot where to put it back in.
thanks
