[Q] Asus Vivotab rt issue with opening ebook with flash - General Questions and Answers

Hi all,
I'm a noob, but am hoping for tolerance of my ignorance and help.
I recently bought an asus vivotab rt for school. I didn't even think that my ebooks for my courses wouldn't open (I was unaware of the flash whitelist).
What I'd like to do is jailbreak or apply a hack that would allow me to open/download my ebook from quia.com to my asus. I've tried one of the hacks I found here to modify the whitelist and allow my ebook to open. It did not work...I got the same redirect, saying I had to upgrade flash and to go to macromedia to do so. I swear I have searched this forum for answers, but I'm unsure as to whether I need something specific or just a jailbreak.
Thanks for your time and tolerance
[EDIT] I've just retried the hack from this thread...[HACK] Flash on Any Website in IE10 Metro Browser [WIN 8 & WIN RT]... and it worked! I applaud the person who created this.

Open Documents Format (ODF) on Windows Mobile

I have started to really get into using my Windows Mobile phone now after a couple of weeks and have found one thing lacking. Support for ODF, the open format used by Open Office.
I rejected Microsoft Office a few years back and have only touched the format (*.doc/*.xls) when I have been working with people using Microsoft Office. From my side I have kept to PDF and RTF as far as possible.
I have checked Google as well as this forum and only found one software and that one would cost me a small fortune to buy.
So I'm hoping that someone will have a better solution here on this forum
Thanks in advance!
Anyway to open an openoffice document on Pocket PC?
I'm looking for it, me too!!

You should request the guys behind the Koffice app. Couple of months ago, they ported Koffice Viewer for the Nokia N900 (Maemo Linux). So may be they can help

(probably german) problem: AndroidBoy-1.0.7.apk won't start

Hi everybody,
I have a german T-Mobile G1 (Bulid-Nummer 123099)
I wanted to install AndroidBoy (the javagb Gameboy emulator), but...
1. I could not find it over the marketplace. Either the search function is preety stupid, or it simply is not released for the german marketplace - I believe both is true
2. When finally downloading it from http://sourceforge.net/projects/javagb/, manually copying it to the sd card an launching it... and trying to launch it... it didn't start. (I had high hopes after manually installing iSkoot, which isn't avaible in the german marketplace neither)
3. Was just a desperate measure. I even tried to launch the JMEBoy with the J2ME MIDP Runner. It says just call the .jad serving url and it would "compile" the java-code fpr android. This, of course, also didn't work.
Any suggestions, experiences or ideas anyone?
greetings
benio
JMEBoy didn't work for me at all so you should just wait it out until a working one hits the forums or the marketplace.
I think it was written on the first STK development set which is not compatible with current Android releases..
is there anyway to rewrite AndroidBoy so that it will be compatible with the current Android releases?
if so is anyone willing to do it? (i would but i don't know how to.)
There is Kidd GBC in the market for $2 (thats if u can access the market), but it seems like the developer is keen at getting it past 10fps by accelerating it via hardware.

[Q] Iphone functionality on RT

Hi there,
I am new to posting on the forums but have kept up-to-date regarding developments.
I was wondering, as it seems unlikely iTunes will ever be released / ported to the Windows RT system, does anyone know or have any methods to sync music between RT and the iphone? I don't mind it not being iTunes and was thinking there must be a round-a-bout way to accomplish this.
Thanks in advance for any help!

Try MediaMonkey, I am not sure if it works on RT but it do have a app there. Give it a try!
^_^ Feel free to press thanks button.
...
Thanks for the reply, is anyone able to confirm that the Windows RT version of the Media Monkey app actually offers the ability to sync with the iphone device. From what I've researched it normally requires the apple device drivers to be installed which seems unavailable on Windows RT?
Thanks
Take a look

[Q] New users of Surface 2

Hi to everyone,
Before at all i want to say "sorry" for my bad english.
Last week my parents bought me a new surface 2. I've seen that surface 2 uses Windows 8.1 rt as pre-installed OS. I've seen also that this OS don't have a jailbreak yet, so i cant use desktop applications.
My question is: "may i downgrade the OS to the Win 8 rt by using an iso image from an other tablet " Surface RT" ?!"
Thanks u for all, and sorry for the disorder.
Yes but...
Yes you can "downgrade the OS to the Windows 8.0 rt by using an iso image" however it is not that simple. I have the image hosted on my ftp server. PM me if you want it. However just do a simple search of the surface forums to find how to deploy (install) it.
Link to a video telling you, you should have searched the fourm...

App for a "self-running" PDF "book"...

Hey there,
I hope I'm in the right section of the forum...
It's hard to describe my problem in English, I hope you understand.
I have an manual-CD* which is like an exe-file which run's a kinda special form of Adobe Reader (I think V4.0). This start's a menu.pdf where I can navigate through all the other chapters/pages, etc. It's kinda self-running book. No installation, just the autorun which starts adobe and loads the menu.pdf.
I already tried to copy all the pdf's with the direction tree on my phone, but it doesn't work. Not even one PDF can be opened by several PDF-App's. Only an office app opens the files, but it's blank. I can only see how many sheets it have.
Is it possible to get this running on an android-based device without PDF-Printing every document to a normal PDF (there are hundrets or more documents inside)?
Thanks a lot in advance!
Alex

If someone know it: It's the Mercedes W124 WIS-CD you could bought some years ago officially. Maybe someone has it too, and know what I mean.
