Someone help me decide! I currently have a MyTouch 4G and am a phone dork. I go through phones fast. Right now, I'm torn between the Motorola Defy or the Nexus S (obviously waiting). On the one hand, the Defy is "life-proof". Not that I plan on doing too much with it, but it would be nice to know some rain, keys or a small drop wouldn't hurt it, etc. It is also very compact. On the downside, it is only 800MHz and has 2.1 and Motoblur. Then there is a Nexus S. It is probably going to feel cheap like the Galaxy and will be fragile but it will have Gingerbread AND the best processor. There aren't even any cases on the market that would even remotely help with water resistance. Ideas?
These aren't really comperable. Nexus s is a no brainer.

Well the Nexus S should have the meanest processor around. That is the whole concept in the Nexus line. Show what is possible. N1 was the first 1GHz.

That is right
is not as big as i though it would have been
it actually might be a nice PHONE, rather than a small tablet
wow! i might actually pick up one of these, instead of the Samsung Hercules or the Prime (Samsung Nexus 3)
Cool it looks good. I just wish one of the people that had an opportunity to get some hands on time would take a close look at the screen to try and see if it was a pentile array. Other than that it looks like a solid device, but it because of the size it did look a little awkward in his hands.
So the stylus is cool now?

Well it actually seems handy considering that its accurate. Before I tried taking some notes on a tab and it was horrible. If this thing is as accurate as it seems, taking down quick notes would be nice.
But honestly, I don't give half a **** about the stylus, I'm looking for a phone thats powerful and has a nice screen. Size doesn't matter, well it doesn't matter as long as its bigger than 4".
I like it a lot. I mean I could ditch my tablet, and stick with this thing.

Kmon man... that guy has huge hands and the phone can barely fit in his hand.
To myself, the phone looks HUGE. And what's up with that stylus? It reminds me of Palm devices from 90's...
love at first site.
can't wait for them to release this.
And all these people saying it's too big, well my HD2 was considered too big lmao
Dang this phone is so big it works as a cup holder too!

Battery life should be decent. It does come with 2500mah battery
Regardless of size...
..it turns out that having such a huge resolution ( beating many notebooks out there) in a pocket (1280x800)is a dream come true...
Give four, please !!!!
Make it five, just in case....!!!!
Hope I can find something like "Cookies Home Tab", but for Android...

hmm seems like we might be getting a new oem battery soon and they deiced to restore the CPU clock to its full potential. Also whats with the constant alienation of early adopters with the sensation? First the XE and now sensation v.2!
I think, since this is a modification request not a new request, that this means there will no more be a 1.2GHz version only a 1.5GHz processor.

Our phones already have 1.5ghz processors. They just under-clocked them to save battery.
So an OTA will unlock it, and we just buy the bigger battery? Bit of a kick in the teeth
I think that HTC should allow us early adopters to trade in our batteries for the new ones, or at least i wish they would. Givin my knowledge of them they would probably say something like this
Thank you for contacting HTC. We understand your concern over the introduction of our redesigned battery but as consumers the new battery would serve absolutely no purpose to you and would be undistingushable from our previous battery for we already have your money.
Have a nice day

Its a 1930mAh battery. That's bigger than our current ones, anker ones(even though some say its only about 1700mAh) and evo3d ones. Also i don't trust the 3rd party batteries in there stated mAh values. they are also removing a hearing aide function called t-coil.
Looks awesome hopefully on

Can't wait to see more on this phone..!
jesus christ thats a big boy there.... love big phones
Thanks to the Tegra3, batterylife WONT blow as much as you think
nice looking phone indeed, with the metal in the back ...
since im used to my big HTC Evo3D screen, i whouldnt mind to have a lil bigger one... with HD quality im sure it whould be pretty amazing... .
btw, heres a pic/link how the Tegra3 quadcore will work
source:
http://pocketnow.com/smartphone-news/nvidia-kal-el-chips-have-fifth-low-power-companion-core
http://www.droid-life.com/2011/09/20/nvidia-releases-two-white-papers-about-project-kal-el-secret-5th-core-revealed/
tldr: Tegra3 quadcores wont have 4 cores-> they will have 5
the 5th is a "powersave" core who will run for the small things (standby etc)
Other benefits would be faster pageload times in browsers, quick multi-tasking, better performance while using processor-heavy apps, and most importantly, overall lower power consumption without a drop in performance.
The second paper details an-almost secret “5th core” called the companion core, that allows your device to use much less power while in standby or using background tasks such as music, Facebook updates, and email syncing. With this companion core, the main quad-core is essentially able to shut down completely, allowing your device to last much longer.

but look 1-2 years back in terms of mobile gaming...

And one thing, I think "future-proof" phones doesn't exist anymore.
Poor HTC....Their phones need Quadcores just to run stock Sense smoothly, we'll be in for it when Sense 4 is released, it will need more than 1GB RAM. And no I'm not joking, HTC thinks adding cores fixes the lag in Sense, but they need to learn optimization, and bloated doesn't cut it.

That actually makes sense. Glad to see NVIDIA do some research with graphics vs battery life especially considering that their optimus GPU works wonders. I was thinking with four cores active at once, battery life will be complete crap. Still wouldn't do console level gaming on a smartphone because onscreen controls suck so much. A tablet, maybe.

Hey all! My Incredible S just died on me and I've been offered a sensation for $200 to replace it. Is the sensation a good phone to switch to? I was wondering about things like battery life (sucked on inc s) and amount of roms available. Also how long do you think htc will be updating the sensation?
Thanks for any input you have!
It's an awesome phone.I believe we will see Jellybean 4.1 for the sensation around October maybe even earlier.and $200 is a good deal.
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using XDA
$200 isn't bad, I enjoy my sensation but would love to have the SGS III or the One X instead... we've pretty much reached our limit for updates so don't expect too much more from that. You're wanting to buy a phone a or year or so old... it's OLD now. Don't expect too much. Battery life is amazing for some such as myself. I can go 2 days (I also used to have an Incredible S -- You'll notice the awesome difference with resolution as well) without recharging using the new Sense 4 roms OR 3.6. I don't know what happened but in ICS my battery is incredible. I just hate the fact that I have a little bit of dust under screen... aside from that no complaints!
Ill be honest ..
Great phone great dev support worst battery life ever ! Simple as that...
However you can get an extended battery "anker" 1900mah it helps quite alot for 25$

Buying the S3 without a contract would be near triple what the Sensation will cost you. I'm not sure if that's worth it.
