ok so i have been flashing roms all night on my droid 2 global using .629. I have gotten cyanogenmod 9 running a couple times, it loads like normal after the intial flash but will not boot into it again or even boot to the point where I can make a recovery using CWM and the droid 2 bootstrap. My question is, is there a working pretty stable ICS or jelly bean rom for the D2G? The last one I tired to flash a dozen times was cyanogenmod for the D2G I got here. As i said it flashed normally but After the first boot I can never get it to boot again, it will always freeze at the boot screen. Any advice or link to another better rom would be appreciated.

Hi,
Earlier today I restored my Desire S to factory settings, expecting to receive the OTA update to ISC. However, although the update from 2.3.3 to 2.3.5 appeared, an update to ICS did not. How can I get the OTA update? My phone is unbranded.
Thanks in advance
That's because the update hasn't been released...yet.
Ah, OK. I was under the impression that it was released in June/July - that's what HTC's update timetable said, wasn't it?

Yep but it's been forwarded to sometime towards the end of this month. It will also depend on your carrier. If you want to be first to receive it your best bet will be through a custom ROM
OK, thanks for the information. I know I could use a custom ROM, but after I nearly bricked my phone attempting to port a Jelly Bean ROM from the Galaxy Nexus, I thought I should maybe go back to stock, for the time being at least. Once the Jelly Bean ROMs become more stable, I'll probably root again and get one of those.
Also, I've heard some people say that once I upgrade to ICS with HTC, I won't be able to root/S-OFF again. Is this true? If it is, I probably won't bother getting the OTA to ICS.
You attempted to port the JB ROM? Man if have that kind if skill, is it hard for you to root and install a ROM?

Have you tried using CM10? It is in alpha stage but it is pretty stable and most features work. Also it is super quick and smooth

No, actually, it isn't to hard for me to root my phone and run a custom ROM. I've been running custom ROMs on my Desire S for the best part of a year now.
@mzr92 No, I haven't tried Cyanogenmod 10. Since it was in alpha stage, I wasn't sure how stable it was. I might just try that out. Thanks for the suggestion.

I just updated my infuse to gingerbread yesterday and i just wanted to know is it safe to flash jelly bean without ics??
You have to flash ICS in order to get to Jelly Bean. I think it has to do with getting the blue CWM, or a part of it.

Yup as stated above. Have to flash ICS the BOOT into it. Then go back to recovery and flash JB. Make sure you get the right gapps package also. I made the mistake of grabbing the wrong one. Had to reflash the correct one.

Even when I read that I didn't have to, I had to. I wasn't able to just flash the ICS kernel. I actually had to make sure an ICS ROM was up and running completely 3 different times before the JB upgrade took fully. JB is just a completely different animal.

Funny but the thread that was right above this when I looked is the one you should read.

you can get to jelly bean without ics from gb . do all ur wiping processes of course. then flash jellybean zip of your choice it will hang on kernel screen. pull battery then three button back to cwm it should be blue now. reflash jelly bean rom again and there ya go.

I never really got the GB to ICS to JB... I used the ICS way once, and every other time I just used mind of Mac to paranoid android and everything except for Google search works fine. I just have horrible battery life

Hello,
I have searched the Razr HD threads with no avail. I have been running CM 10.1, 4.2.2 and would like to return to a 4.1.2 ROM(Nexesque deodexed/zipaligned 9.16.6 (4.1.2) base). 4.2.2 is still a bit buggy for my taste, specifically the camera issues. As I understand, I need to return to the stock kernel prior to flashing a 4.1... ROM via a boot.img file?
Does anyone have the link to the stock Kernel to flash? Also, can I flash this in CWM Recovery? If not, a link to instructions would be great.
This is relatively new to me as ROMs generally have the Kernels built in and flash automatically when installing in Recovery. At least thats how it was with my old HTC INC.
Thanks for your help and assistance.

it was ok for me
I restored to my stock back up, re-wiped, and re-flashed. All is well.

So after I flashed 10.2 I can only boot my Verizon s3 on the first initial boot. If I ever have to reboot the phone, it locks up at cyanogenmod flash screen. The only way I can get the phone to boot back up after this, is to do a battery pull and boot into twrp. Then do a full format, doing just a factory reset doesn't work. Once I complete a full format, I can restore one of my backup images and the phone will boot once, and that's it. Then I have to start the process all over again, any ideas?
Don't know if this helps but I'm currently running OSE 4.3.1, but have tried with dirty unicorn & liquid smooth.

Well I managed to get this fixed not 100 percent sure on how, what I did was flash stock deodexed image in twrp, then started flashing from 10.1.3 and then to 10.2. I'm not sure which helped, but after this I was able to restore any of my previous roms and they boot just fine now.

Were your backups all AOSP 4.3 as well or TW?

I find if I'm getting an infinite bootloop like that, flashing stock seems to sort **** out. That's the case on the LG and Motorola phones I've owned as well.

Yep I guess so, still learning on all of this custom rom stuff. I tried everything prior to just flashing stock rooted rom, wasted a ton of time wish I would of thought of it sooner.
Below are some current rom's that i'm running all seem to be very stable with very little bugs.
Current Rom:[ROM][OFFICIAL][4.3] CM10.2 M1 for d2vzw so far this rom seems to be very stable have only had one random reboot since I flashed it yesterday.
Backup Up Rom's:
1. So far my all time favorite with very little issues:[ROM][4.3.1][Official][OSE Rom][d2vzw]
2. I really enjoy this rom only complaint is the cell service on it doesn't seem to be quite as stable:[ROM] [Team D.I.R.T] Dirty Unicorns 4.3.1 - d2vzw v3.9
3. Another very stable rom, only complaint is with the radio sometimes after a reboot radio doesn't work and you have to do a battery pull:[ROM][4.3][OFFICIAL] LiquidSmooth v2.10 - d2vzw - 10|6|13

I wonder if we'll see this issue pop up with the TW 4.3 OTA we're rumored to receive this month.

I am trying to install my first custom ROM on my XT926 ota kk 4.4.2 rooted bootloader unlocked. I have cwm 6.0.4.4 and I have tried installing cm 10.2 stable and then I tried cm 11 snapshot and it says it has installed .zip files successfully but when I reboot it just hangs up on the M logo and I have to restore my ota to get my phone to reboot, any help would be appreciated, thanks.
I believe most of the Roms in the Dev forum are still using 4.1.2 base, which means you cant flash them unless you go back to jb first.
There are some 4.4 test builds around you could flash on kk, sorry I don't have the link to them.

I tried one of the cm 11 ROMs from cyanogenmod's website, are you saying that those are also designed for the 4.1.2 kernel? If so does anyone have any suggestions on how to revert back to the jelly bean kernel, Also I was wondering if its OK to download the custom rom.zip file directly to the phone and put it in the right directory instead of moving it from the computer.
Unless they were updated to 4.4 source in the last week, I would say they are still on jb source. Most of the Roms you will find are a jellykat mix.
I posted a guide in the general forum, near the bottom you will find a pre-edited jb file you can use to flash with rsd.
Yes you can DL Roms right to your phone if you wish.
