Earlier today, the OTG cable I ordered came in. http://www.ebay.com/itm/251211470827?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649
Now I plugged in my FIIO E07K headphone audio dac/amp and it worked fine. This is something the audiophile guys do, to get better sound quality. and it worked great when I tested it earlier today. I than unplugged it and left the phone normally without it.
Sometime after that, I had enabled fast charge mode to charge the phone. I left this one and forgot about it. Just a few minutes ago, I went to plug the otg cable in, and the phone instantly shut off... I can't get it to power back on, pulled the battery, put it back in, tried the charger , nothing.
Crap I think the fast charge mode killed it. I did not have the fiio e07k on at the time, but it usually lights up when plugged into a source.
Any idea what I can do or try? I have no job right now so this really bums me out. Maybe I can buy a busted verizon S3 on ebay and swap the motherboard?
luckily I have a recent nandroid backup on my micro sd. So think i can just buy a broken screen s3 on ebay and swap the motherboard?
Hey guys, I purchased a verizion s3 mainboard on ebay

Ok, so I've had my Thunderbolt since day one and just this last week, the micro usb cable started acting weird when I am trying to test an app from eclipse. It almost seems like there is a short in the cable, the phone shows up in eclipse/adb when I have the cable at a weird angle... Anyway, the cable does not have one bit of resistance when you try to remove it after charging. Sometimes when I charge it overnight, the cable gets unplugged because it's so weak. Is it possible for the micro usb slot to be getting more and more recessed as time wears on? It's just way to loose right now I might have to go to verizon to get a replacement.
Anyone else have this problem?
Wow - no, I got mine opening day and it is still very snug. Did it get yanked somehow? Knocked off something while plugged it?
same here man!!!! mine did the same thing!!! just started today worked fine for 2 weeks!! wtf
I received my g2x on Tuesday. Been working fine. I received my MicroHDMI cable yesterday, and decided to give the HDMI mirroring a try. The minute I plugged the cable in to the phone, it shut off and locked up. Pulled the battery, let it sit, put the battery back in, turned the phone on, and the battery (which had a full charge) was now showing 0%. I plugged the phone in to the charger and that's when the area around the camera became too hot to touch. So I called T-Mo and now I've got to mail it off for a replacement. Fun stuff.
where did you get your cable from? i ordered mine from ebay.
I bought one off Amazon. Looks like a quality cable. Unfortunately I didn't save the link.
I got it last night and played some Need for Speed on my 24" monitor.

I've heard of cheap cables shorting out the device when you touch the metal rim of the phone accidentally with the HDMI cable...
This cable has worked fine for me so far:

I had the exact same thing happen to mine, and I did the exact same thing, replacement is on the way. I got mine from monoprice though.
After reading a few of these stories, I'm pretty paranoid about trying the HDMI port on my G2x!
i get all my cables from monoprice.com
dirt cheap and high quality.
sorry to hear about the issue with your phone though. hopefully this doesnt become a common issue.
Same here. Completely fried the phone. Got the bad one from monoprice. Ordered another one from amazon and it works great.

The same thing happened on my phone with the monoprice cable. I don't know if the cable fubar'ed the phone, or the battery.
My phone initially wouldn't turn on for several hours, but it finally work up later (but the battery now won't hold a charge). And the phone stays hot when the damn thing isn't even turned on!
OH BOY!
This is not good. How is everyone hooking up their phone? Are you connecting to the tv first then the phone? Cuz I'm wondering if it makes a difference or not.

Cable hooked up to the tv, then the phone.
I tried two different cables and they work great. One from Amazon and the other from ebay.

Completely fried the phone? did you get a new phone for the 2nd cord? or what happened
Sounds like the common theme here is MONOPRICE. So I'd beware of purchasing their cables! On mine you can still smell the burning smell from the inside of the phone, and the battery won't stay charged for 6 hours when before I was getting easily a full day.
Hi. So I plugged my note 10.1 into my USB on my desktop today and waited for it to connect only instead the screen went black and now I can not turn it on with holding power button' taking out spent, can't boot into download mode or recovery. Any ideas guys or just a coincidence in timing? Any thing else that can be done or tryed to get it to respond? Or just a toasted note you think? Thanks for any advice in advance
OK so I took the note 10.1 apart and reset by unplugging the battery. That worked but after trying to charge the tab it wouldn't charge or start up again so I had to take the battery loose again. Now I have had an issue where Google play will not connect, did a factory reset fixed that but 30 minutes later it wouldn't connect again. Another factory reset and now its running smooth but absolutely will not charge at all on 3 different factory OEM chargers. I'm leaving it plugged in overnight. If that doesn't work I Intend to flash a custom ROM and see if that helps. If still a no go I will order a charger ribbon from eBay and try that. Could also be a system board but if its that I'll just buy another tablet. unless someone has some further advice
Try blowing some pressurised air into the usb connector, might be a piece of dust or something shoting it out...
If not that I would still be looking at the connector as the culprit as it happened when you plugged in and doesn't want to charge....
Ok so after having tried everything under the sun including replacing the charging ribbon cable I broke down and waited for a 10.1 with a broken screen to become available on eBay. Let me tell you folks that was a long wait at anywhere near a reasonable price. Traded the system boards out and am back in action. So I haven't come up with any reason why the system board charging went cablooey as all the resistors and diodes I tested were fine but there you have it. If replacing your charger or charging ribbon cable doesn't bring your charging back this is what you have to look forward to. The replacement system board that I used cost me $116.00 USD. I hope this doesn't become a common issue for any other users as their units age.
Hello, i've been lurking for a while this forum for advice with other devices but now i really need your help.
A few weeks ago i plugged the phone to the car USB port, i never had problems with it since (i think) i always plugged the phone with the car already on.
Now, there's this situation:
I get into the car, plugged in the phone and turned on the car, then the phone made a strange noise. As i checked the phone it was still working fine BUT it wasn't charging at all, it was like there wasn't any usb cable plugged to the microUSB port.
Since the phone was working fine i didn't mind, but as i returned home i tried several power chargers with diferent amps, cables and it wasn't charging the battery, so the phone died and i don't know what to do.
I took the phone to a phone service repair center and they changed the microUSB port but no luck.
This seems pretty strange since it was working normally in that condition, but i wasn't able tomake it charge in any way.
I'm trying to see if i can charge the battery just a little (i've teared down the phone) but i'm afraid i'll do something wrong since there are 4 connectors on the battery, also if there is any advice and if i need to look for something on the PCB to check if there was something blown.
Thank you very much, any help is appreciated.
So I've been using this phone for 5 months or so, and I've discovered a very unsettling thing. The charging cable has started to get loose while plugged in. This happens most with my third party charger at work (which wont stay in on its own), but also with the original charger I have at home. I cannot charge and use my phone in bed, because with the slightest shift the cable disconnects.
This also happens with the USB-C headphones and dongle, they wont stay connected while listening to music. Now, I mostly use bluetooth earbuds (which makes this weirder, because this should put less stress on the port) but this is just not acceptable.
I've calculated, and with every night charging, with some extra times for music and such, I've plugged/unplugged a cable only about 200 times. Does anybody experience the same issues?
Same here @xxxmarienxxx . Just started with this issue this morning. It was all good until last night. Any solutions yet?

I had this problem with my Moto Z Play. Have you checked to see if there is any debris/lint in the usb C port on the phone?
Sorry for stupid question/proposal, but could it depend on what phone case you use or rather combo of phone case and USB cable. I use the standard case supplied with the phone and have no problem with standard USB cable nor the standard headphones, but I have similar issue with a non standard car charger. When I remove my case it works just fine, ie it is not loose.
I've had my phone for 7 months and I would say I charge at least 2 times per day (to work and home from work) and I use headphones at least ones a day.
Yep. Same problem here . Already using a new cable for a few months ?
Was there ever a solution to this issue as mine is doing the same but will only go half way in, no debris and nothing is bent out of place in either cable or phone charging port.
Same issue, contact Huawei support.
Visited the three shop today and the girl told me this was a common problem. She showed me her phone and the cable goes all the way in, mine only goes about 3/4's of the way in and had been fine up until this week. She told me there is a 2yr warranty that they will/should honour. (Huawei). Going to contact them later and will let you know how I get on.
Charly.
Charging pin issues
Hi guys, if you're battling to charge your p20 cos plug cannot go right in.. Just use a sewing needle put it into the port and scrape off, u will be surprised as to how much muck u will pull out.. Give it a try
Cleaning with a needle
Thank you @Veejag. Using a needle worked perfectly for me. You were so right. I was surprised and shocked at how much dust and crumbs came out of the port. If you have this problem give the needle a go.
Mine also does that. One day supercharging wasn't working anymore, moving the plug, it alternated between fast and slow. Cleaned the usb port, supercharging started working, but the headphones keep disconnecting...
Scratch that, tried another pair of headphones, with the adaptor, they don't disconnect. It's most probably the cheap Huawei headphones' fault (they came with my p20 Pro)
