-Put to SD card
-Reboot/Boot to recovery
-Wipe Data/Factory Reset(no need if upgrading)
-Wipe Dalvik Cache(optional/recommended)
-Wipe System(compulsory)
-Install .Zip From SD card
- Boot
-On first boot open Terminal, emulator type
"su" then type "m2sd dalvik enable"
-Reboot

I'm new on here so please bare with me.once you boot into recovery and on the first screen you pick install from sd card then pick your zip file from your sd card and.then back out and reboot your phone is that the correct procedure, way to install a kernel?

Any help anyone.I would greatly appreciate it.

Yep. Put kernel on root of SD card, boot into recovery, install from SD card, choose the kernel, let it install, and then reboot your phone.
Yea thats the general way of installing it... I usually wipe cache and dalvik cache before and after installation... This is my way of doing it... Wipe cache and dalvik cache, then install from sd card, then pick the zip file, wait till its done then, i dont reboot after that, i wipe cache and dalvik cache again... Then reboot....
First thing, Always check if the md5/sha is match after you downloaded the file... Just google and youll find some good free md5 checker

When installing a new rom do I want to download the rom on my phone first or do I want to clear all partitiabs except the SD card I just don't want to download the rom and then erase it be doing a partitions clean except the SD card.please explain the process.I download my new roms to my phone directly then I put then on zip file then install them on my SD card.

Have you rooted and installed a custom recovery? If so, then you would download the rom (directly to the phone or you can copy the rom to the SD Card) and then reboot into recovery, after you've gone into recovery select "install from sd card" and then navigate to the rom .zip file.
Installing a new rom
You should download 4ext recovery, download the rom on your computer if possible and then put it onto your sd card and use 4ext recovery to make a nandroid backup of your current rom in case you want to revert to it and flash your new rom.

[Problem] need help

Hello developers
Am using nextgen 1.5 Rom
8gb sd card with 512mb as ext3 partition.
The problem is whenever I remove my battery (to change SIM/ other) all the apps which are on sd-ext partition are not showing in menu.
All the data which is on ext partition doesn't shows.
To get it back I again have to flash the Rom.
And after flashing the Rom without using factory reset/ wipe data(super wipe) I get the data back.
Is the problem with mount2sd script or sd card.?
Please help.?

I think no problem with your SD card. After changing sim/battery power on your phone and wait for at least 2 minutes all apps/data on ex partition will be shown. No need to re-flash.
If i helped you say thanks
But sometimes phone stuck at htc logo white screen.

1. Wipe Data/ Factory Reset
2. Wipe Cache
3. Wipe Dalvik Cache
If you perform the three steps above and then install the ROM, it should be fine.
Try another ROM - Evervolv ICS, CM10, AOKP are a few to mention in AOSP.
If the issue is same or it fails to install, then its a Burnt Nand. Follow the instructions given here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=38098622&postcount=13
Since you are new i would recommend not to overclock the phone. Make sure you read the features and changelogs of every ROM you install so that you ensure its not overclocked.
use CWM recovery and wipe everything except sdcard then once reboot in recovery then install ur rom... then restart

Flashing cm10 first time... wiped my SD card....
