I had to make the same decision. The prime was my first choice, but imho the note 10.1 is better for school, especially since all our books are in PDF format and needed good annotation features.
Samsung I think is more stable and has better quality control.
Nothing does, but if you already read the threads, and you had the effort to post your stupid pointless comment, dont you think your comment should atleast be helpful
And thanks blue13x you've been really helpful

Let me explain to you how xda works. There is a "read first, then ask" policy. If you want to be endlessly flamed here, keep asking questions that have already been answered 100 times.
If you REALLY want to be flamed, then insinuate that your time is more valuable than ours and that we should invest in answering your question while you obviously have not.
Read first then ask.

Since you are trying to find a tablet to use at school I'd recommend to buy note 10.1. I'm also a student and I have the same motive than you. I don't own note yet since my operator here in finland doesn't have notes for sale yet. I've been reading these kind threads as mitchellvii told you to do as well. Yet I understand that not everyone has time to read forums expecially if one wants information fast buy note because of its multitasking advantages and the s-pen. Splitscreen is in my opinion the most useful thing to have in a tablet used for studying. There is a lot bigger resolutions on other tablets screens but 1280x800 is enough and even it isn't I'd still buy note because of it's ability to multitask hope this helps!

I would recommend the Galaxy Note 10.1. It IMO is really the most productively designed tablet around due to the multiscreen and the popup windows allowing you to do more things at one time.
As to those that feel they don't have time or that their time is so important that they can't offer a helpful reply, I ask you to please do not waste your time posting a responce to my questions, if you don't desire or have timetime to be helpful. I mean no one is forcing anyone to post answers to any questions.

Sorry but we feel that if a question has already been asked and answered 1000 times a new member should respect the Forum and do some research before asking the same question again. The experienced members who help a lot of people find this very annoying. It is clear from the OP's arrogant response that he made no attempt whatsoever to research prior to asking his question. Why should he do any work when we can do it for him? It's just basic forum etiquette.
Like I said, clueless is cool, lazy is not.
I used my Prime+keyboard dock to take notes all last year for my classes, but it wasn't the most reliable thing ever. I had quite a few random reboots in the middle of class and lost a good deal of notes many times.
The Infinity, as far as I know, has more or less the same issues.

Be nice. We've all made forums blunders at one time or another. He asked the same question on the TF700 forum and they were helpful (albeit one-sided). You're making us look bitter.
OP here's the link to a v-e-r-y long thread comparing the two devices. Shorthand: to get a HDMI-out port, FHD display, and an optional keyboard you're sacrificing quite a lot in compenent and build quality.

You can also check out these videos from Samsung. They're not "hype". What you see is what you get.

Imagine that. Mitch in the middle of another negative thread.

With that said if your not going to root it. Note 10.1. No discussion needed. 10x better straight out of the box.

I've had the prime and the note, note wins hands down. The stylus is much more useful than the keyboard. The plastic body is actually better for Wi-Fi signal strength. If you need hdmi or usb out you can always buy the adaptor.

I'm bored and my time is free so I'll tell how I came to the Note. I owned every Asus tab with keyboard. My daughter was going back to college so I was gonna let her have my infinity and keyboard. One week before she left the Note launched so we went down to Bestbuy and grabbed the first one and brought it home to try. I never really trusted the Asus because of ANRs and crashes so I didn't feel comfortable letting her take it because I know she would be *****ing about it when something went wrong and believe me with Asus its always something. She used the Note for a couple hours and said it was great so I grabbed it and put it through the paces side by side with my infinity. After about a hour I was boxing up the infinity and on my way to Bestbuy to exchange for a Note of my own. My daughter has told me many times "the Notes the best thing for school hands down" when I ask her how it compares to her iPad2 (charger caught fire burn wall in her apt and got money back) she said they're too different animals. We are both trouble free and happy and the world is a better place..... because she's not complaining

I usually just uncheck screenorientation and then use snote in "landscape" i find snote better cos it has other cool features. I have physics course at school now and I honestly have no idea on the math part cos its been 2 years since my last physics course. Luckily I just bought my note 10.1 and I do all my homework (when I do) with it and when im on a lesson im the first one to finish our tasks cos i use snote my teacher asked me how i suddenly can do it so fast and i told her that im just so freaking good. I'd like to see her face when shes checking my exam which I obviously have to do without my note.. that's a little off topic but I find it to be a very good example on how good our device actually is

Did anyone come to any further conclusions. I've had a look around the play store, and the main options I can see that remain even remotely affordable are:
- mindmeister
- simplemind
- iMindMapHD (more pricey)
- connected mind
- snote with shapes enabled (I find these hard to edit)
But none claim any form of stylus support
Any feedback on which are the most usable for quick editing, navigation, use of handwriting (to name a node, or add notes to a node) and especially any comments on whether or not the spen helps

Hi,
I try iMindmapHD, however it doesn't support spen. Now, i usually use Qill App to draw and take notes. This application supports to draw lines and shapes too. I can try.
Have fun.
Mindjet
I've been using the Mindjet program in windows version for years. I've tried many Android apps, but I went back to Mindjet because
1. It works the way I do.
2. You can customize the look a great deal.
3. You can standardize node to make it easier to recognize later.
4. The files are compatible with the Windows version.
Your mileage may vary.

Interesting idea, but the app is £5.50, has no comments & minimal description -- though the pictures look nice
Any app at that price needs either a demo period and/or restricted free version so that the user can see if it's suitable
http://elevenworks.com/touchdraw-features/ gives some info (though android isn't listed on their website), though again it's unclear how usable the s-pen might be, or the app generally.
I've sent them some questions at https://twitter.com/touchdraw

Samsung ativ win 8 tablet comes with snote. I have often sent my snote files from 8013 to my friend can open them on windows 8.
We just need to get an installer out of it that will work on other win 8 laptops.. and hopefullt win7.

I copied the .snb file to my PC, extracted it with 7 Zip, navigated to the snote folder, and opened the snote.xml in Word. It gives me all the text and is very readable. It didn't, however, give me the photos and videos I had embedded in the file, but I imagine (not being a computer geek) that those instructions are contained in the other .xml files, as I have a folder in the archive that also contains those elements.

I have a new Samsung Ativ T700. It uses an Intel Core i5. In the metro environment there is an SNotes app that is the same as on our tablets. Well, actually, the tablet is better, but you can copy your notes over and then import them into the Win8 version. Works fine.
I'm lost on what your referring to I guess because I don't have a ATIV, but can you clarify what is a metro environment?
Google "Metro UI"
I don't understand how people today STILL don't realize 90% of all questions in the universe have already been answered on Google.
Did I know it was a ui ? Sorry I assumed someone could answer a simple question without being a ****.

Icryan, the problem is that it's not just you. It's pretty much anyone blind or too lazy to use Google.
Nothing to do with being a ****. I'm teaching you and others like you the solution to the rest of your life.
"Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime."
Try working in retail tech one day, you'll see how many times the same simple question that can be answered by the FIRST link on Google gets asked.
IE: how to MUTE the VOLUME * face palm*
If everyone were like you, every forum would be FILLED with IDENTICAL question threads, and eventually NO ONE knowledgeable will bother answering after repeating the same answer 10 times.
Just Try it, help yourself get some perspective.

I knew what you were talking about (vaguely), but for kicks, I Googled metro, and didn't find anything, results improved after using metro environment, but barely. It might seem obvious to you, but not to someone who isn't sure as to what they are looking for.
Using your analogy, there is a difference between teaching a man how to fish, as opposed to telling him to throw a hook into the water.

Now, upon seeing this, he/she would have had enough terms ["windows 8 metro"] for retrieving a relevant Google search result.
clearly, In this case, simply READING would have been faster than posting a message and waiting for someone to post an answer.
But that's your choice. Kind of like double clicking on internet links, sure it'll work, but it's a waste of everyone's time and effort.
Hi,
I am on the look out for a good tablet, preferably 10" with expandable storage. I have been looking at the note 2014, or the nexus 10 32gb. I don't have a budget as of yet probably how much I can save up/make if I manage to get a job (fingers crossed). I have no dislikes in a tablet, I will probably be using it for gaming most of the time and watching high definition movies probably in mkv format possibly some photo taking so a gd camera would be nice.
Thanks in advance

I was able to root my phone with "step-by-step" information recently.
I am interested in rooting my Hisense Sero 7 Pro and found a YouTube video that could be followed vey well. Not being a developer in any way I need info I can follow and not have to guess what to do. Two files needed from that video were shown as being on this forum. I can not find them. The video was from last year so things here may have changed. The two files were:

xe_sero_root part2.rar
Are these still here somewhere or is that all "old" stuff that is not used any more?
