Viewing SIM contacts in CyanogenMod - General Questions and Answers

Hi there, I'm brand new to rooting and custom ROMs.
I have a wildfire S. The first one I installed was 4.04, a version by a chinese developer which had some added themes etc. However, it didn't recognise my sim card as having any contact on (going into contacts and importing from SIM card returned "No contacts on your SIM card")
So I then found modpunk's CM9.1.0, which is running amazingly smooth and stable, however I get the same problem.
Am I doing something wrong? The first time I thought it may be a bad ROM, but as I get the same problem in both, it makes me think I haven't installed something I should have done or something?
I've tried 3 sim cards and get the same on all. I tried all 3 in a different phone and the contacts read fine.
I also tried downloading a sim contact app from the play store, but that too just returns that there are none found????

I have the same problem with any version of CM on LG P990 (Optimus 2x). Since i've installed CM on my phone, i can't read SIM contacts anymore. I've a Sony Ericsson V630i, that can read all the contacts from SIM, and the original LG ICS ROM can read them too, but CM can't. I've thought this is a basic feature in a worldwide supported mobile OS like Android, but as i see it isn't.

Sim Toolkit

Hi guys,
I have bought an Anextek SP-230 PC Phone, and I read that QTEK 2020/XDAII has this little program included in the ROM file.
Considerating that Anextek PDA has already the necessary Registry Keys and I need the Sim Toolkit as I perform serveral banking operations, I would like to know if someone can send it to me, because I tried to dump it from the XDA Rom and from Extended Rom but without luck.
Thanks in advance
Here is the version from my imate (ROM 1.72).
I don't believe that it will work.
I hope there are all relevant files in the zip....
Happy trying...
Stefan
Thank you very much for the attachments.
All the libraries are already present in the PDA; the program launches correctly, however unfortunately I think that the program handles in a wrong way my SIM card driver and is unable to find the services (because it says that "there are no applications installed on your SIM").
However I would like to thank you guys again.
Glad to help. Sorry it does not do what you wanted it to.
FWIW - it does the same thing with my SIM, T-Mobile does not put apps on the SIM.
I'm quite sure that in Vodafone IT 64k SIM cards are present some apps (they also offer the possibility to change the installed services over the internet ). I fear that QTEK/XDAII has a completely different way of handling SIM because also MMS Composer runs perfectly but is unable to detect the contacts (Anextek Sim Manager instead show them correctly)
Im also having an issue on the sim toolkit for my xda2.
My sim has mobile banking installed in it. When the xda2 is fresh from a soft reset, the application on the sim is accessible, but after a while, it tells me that there are no applications installed in my SIM.
Does anyone know how to solve this? I hate to have to reset my xda2 everytime, the sim toolkit tells me that there no applications installed.
Thanks
Hi,
Are you using SpbPocket plus 2.1? It may be this one that's causing your SIM toolkit not to work... just maybe... [/quote]

re:
Yes i am. It could probably be the reason. Is there a work around? But i also noticed that when i use my wife's sim card, it works fine even after a while
Well, I haven't figured out yet a workaround for that. I am not using Spb Pocket Plus now since I noticed it is also slowing down some of my apps...
i found the workaround. I disabled the CLOSE button in SPB pocket plus. Disabling the CLOSE button also solves the unwanted Hard Reset and duplicate sent SMS in my case.
That's great! I'll try to do that...

[Q] Network Recognised but not Tel No or contacts

Does anyone else have this problem?
When I first tried installing a custom ROM everything appeared to be okay. My Network provider was recognised and appeared on screen but my mobile number did not appear in Settings>About Phone. Also my contacts did not appear in the Phone book or messages app. if I recall it was a cyanogenmod kernel based ROM.
Eventually I settled for Android Revolution HD 6.3.1 by Mike 1986 and it has worked flawlessly for the past couple of months.
Today I tried to flash BlindIce v5.4 which has a CM9 kernel and the same thing happens. The ROM and G-Apps install okay, my Network Provider appears on screen, but my mobile number doesn't appear in Settings>About Phone and the phone does not find my contacts on the SIM card.
I have yet again returned to Android Revolution HD 6.3.1 as it appear to be the only fully functional custom ROM that I have found.

not a helpful comment, but you should move your contacts from your SIM to a google account, that way they're sync'd automatically every time you wipe your phone.
It does take a couple of hours to ensure that you input them into a Google account correctly but its worth the effort.
SIM cards are so last century!
Out of curiosity, which version of ARHD are you using? Is it mmmfc's port?
Thanks, I will consider that. My apps are synced and get loaded fairly quickly if when I flash a new ROM but I hadn't thought about my contacts. However I don't know why my mobile number doesn't appear in Settings. It only seems to be with certain Custom ROMs and and common denominator seems to be CM based ROMs.
I tried flashing BlindIce v5.4 with and without the SIM card in the phone and it doesn't make any difference. I can reboot, put the SIM card in and the phone doesn't read the info on the SIm card other than the Network provider.
Yes it is mmmfc's port from

my first stop would be get a new SIM card from your network, say it doesn't work and you may get one for nothing...
this shouldn't be happening, without sounding cocky, you can't get a batter rom that the one in my signature, probably the best and most popular (pre sense 3.o kernel) on this device
Never tried Endymion. Used Hyperion ROM and Saga 3D ROM but found ARHD met all my needs. They all recognised my network, mobile number and contacts. Just seems to be some Custom ROMs I have problems with.

having used most of the above ROMs, Hyperion was superseded by Endymion (created by the same Developer) I must admit that I've never looked for my mobile number, but then again I never used SIM contacts, since moving from a NOKIA. Without intending to repeat myself, I'd suggest that you try moving your contacts to google. What issues does the none existence of the mobile number cause you?

[Q] Nexus 5 not reading ANY Sim cards.

Hey folks, i tried searching here for my issue. I found many similar threads, but nothing that solves my issue.
Two days ago i started having issues sending picture messages, today i start losing network signal until it cut out alltogether.
I tried multiple sims from different carriers and got nothing. Ive tried the following:
Factory reset.
Rebooting and reinserting sim
Resetting apn settings, custom apn settings.
I have WiFi, and the symbol says "no service" nothing about emergency calls only.
The new information i have, which i didnt find on other threads here is this; i found a sim card app and tried it, its able to pull my sim card information off the card, (phone number etc.) yet i get no cell service. Any ideas?
Nexus 5
Stock lollipop
Hey @kimsgrim
Hmm so u already did a factory reset? And didn't restore anything before test?
Really stock or u changed anything (Rom or Kernel)?
But ur phone doesn't say "No Simcard found, please insert and reboot" or kind of that?
If no the simcard is fine and the phone also seeing it. The sims u tested where card which definitly work on other phones?
So two things possible in my opinion:
1) System problem: Anything is reset or not working, which should be done with a factory reset or maybe flashing another stock firmware over
2) Hardware defect of antenna. Would be sad, but no other point for be atm.
Much success
CHEERS
Sounds like the sim card reader is messed

CM12.1 (S3 MINI 8190) Sim Contacts

Is there any way to copy my contacts from sim to phone.
Omnirom(based on CM) and CM 12.1 says that my sim is empty(though its not)
I have not synced contacts on Gaccount cause i'm changing phones all the time and i don't use only smartphones but also "dumb"phones so having contacts in sim card always saves my ass.
Tried also several apps like Copy2sim , Sim Manager etc but i get the same error with every one of them.
Anyone knows any way to fix it?
cause i liked very much CM and 5.1.1 and it would be same to get back to stock 4.1.2 just for contacts
Regards

Mi4i does has no signal with a specific and functional sim card

Hey!
I have a strange problem with my Mi4i (MIUI 7.5.2.0). The phone shows "no signal" or "emergency calls only" with a specific sim card, which works in other phones and used to work in the phone in the past.
The device works well with other sim cards too, even from the same provider. Just not with the specific sim card, which happens to be the one i would like to use. I cannot remember if the problem occured after an update (ota only).
I have tried so far, without any effect:
- a factory reset, without deleting the personal content.
- ordered and tried a new sim card from my provider
There seem to be similar threads in this forum, but they do not adress exactly my problem afaik.
Does someone has an idea what else i can try? I will provide further information if needed.
Thanks in advance!

Might be an unsupported band. What phone have tried the sim with?
Thanks for reading . Oneplus One, iPhone 5C. Sorry i forget to tell the sim card worked in the Mi4i. I didn't use the phone for a while and i might have updated it (ota) when i turned it on again recently. I guess the problem persists since then.
Any chance the update caused it?
did a full wipe and reinstalled miui (7) in fastboot mode. no change. the sim card works fine with other phones. the phone works with other sim cards fine too. just not with my main one
