[DISCUSSION] Battery level issue in 4.x based rom - HTC Pico (Explorer)

There is someone noticed the battery level issue in 4.x based rom?
With stock rom, the battery level drop from 100% linearly after unplug from charger/usb (with constat use).
But in 4.x based rom (I dont remember if JaggyRom has this problem or not ...) after unplug from charger/usb, the battery level will remain in 100% for hours (playing music, navigating, ...) and once it drop to 99%, it start to drop very fast (very fast, but linearly).
There is anyone saw the same issue???
I suspect there is some "battery life tweak" in the kernel...

In both stock GB, NExtGen, and MiniCM9, my battery just stays at where it's charged for a long time (for example, at 86% if I unplug when it's there). And then it drop .

yes u are right
it happens with me on CM 9.1
not with jaggy roms
but can`t decide is there battry drain or it is just numerical error

That's right, but how fast? I didnt tested with NExtGen and MiniCM9.
With CM9 (20121004) and CM10 (alfa 2) I could be using my phone for hours without battery "drop".

I think thats just numerical calibration. And it looks like prolongs your battery life... XD

Well my phone even with the stock rom used to do this. At first pissed me of but I got used to it.

Depends on the usage!

Of course! I knew that.
Now I am with stock ROM and I will check it again!

What am I doing wrong?

I keep reverting back to a sense based rom because I get a much quicker battery drain on any aosp rom I flash. It's close to half less battery life between charges. I always do a cach/davlik/factory reset prior and after flash.
Always in settings it shows my phone constantly waking up even when the screen is off.
Is this an aosp issue or something I'm doing?
I definitely like the aosp roms more but I have to get through the day with my phone.

What apps do you have installed?
Try getting rid of facebook if that's there. some apps cause wakelocks on cm10
I'm in the same boat as you. I'm letting my phone die completely and then doing a full charge. Then going to see how it drains from there.
CM based roms will always drain battery faster but turn off Facebook notification and background location reporting/Latitude location sharing in Google Maps because they cause wake locks. Battery life should increase, but still less than Sense based roms.
(For comparison sake, on days I would end around 60-65% battery life with Sense based roms, I end around 50ish% on AOKP)

I don't care about less battery... I just dont want to have the phone waking up constantly. That's been the issue with aosp roms so far.
Trying to get away from sense.

Best battery life ROM?

Which ROM do y'all think gives the best battery life? I'm on baked right now and right as I get out of school I'm down to 35% usually, thanks

I use viper and it is giving me a good battery life. I don't know about aokp/cm. I think you should try everything and then you will chose whatever is good for your needs.

cm10 has nice battery life ..m using dark jelly S v20 the battery is really good works almost a day for me with me almost connected for 14-16hrs of wifi connectivity and listening music and of course auto sync always on ! u should try all once before proceeding further
Energy ROM and of course.. other stock based ROMs have the best power management available, you know, engineered by HTC

For me, cm10 gives better battery life than stock Sense. I think it depends on how you use your phone.
I'm using Baked too, but for me battery life is just great! Actually on 57% with 8h 27m and almost 1.5h screen...

Of course rooting for battery is a good idea. Undervolted & underclocked kernels, delete bloatware that's constantly running, etc. And as far as best battery life, baked has been very kind to my phone.
A typical day for me (7am on phone for 2-3 hours reading the news before work, music to/from work, light usage on breaks, then hotspot at home for internet, and all the calls/texts in between and countless downloads) will leave me with 20-30% battery when I go to bed around midnight

[Q] Beanstalk and CM 10.1 Battery Life

Does anyone know the difference between beanstalk and CM 10.1's jelly bean battery life?? Because i just got beanstalk yesterday and it's been draining my battery pretty quick so I'm thinking about switching back to CM 10.1 to see if there are any differences in the battery life..
I don't think there are any differences to be honest.
Beanstalk is based on CM10.1 with some extra features.
But I still recommend to try as many as different ROMs possible because it might be ROM but it also could be your old battery.
My battery is new and it is still bad. So I can see if it's older and worn out battery, must be really bad.
By the way, ice cream sandwich and jellybean have worse battery life than gingerbread.

I get better battery life on JB than I ever got on GB. And I'm still on my original battery.
I replied to your other post though with an app that could help. And by the way. After daily driving both cm10.1 and beanstalk, the battery life difference is not noticeable.

How many hours of battery life are you getting on current Unofficial CM10.1 ? I flashed it last night and charged it to 100% and it has drained to 18% in 14hrs.

I left Carbon because of the sizing differences between 260 and 190 DPI, and the home key did not work, although the battery seemed amazing even though it was just after a flash. I didn't have much of a chance to test as I had 38% battery. Ill try Beanstalk now, right after I clear some space

Well Beanstalk is not dying as quick as Slim Bean and CM 10 cause i left it on charge all night while listening to music and it stayed at 100% for atleast 10 mins or longer but i'm gonna continue to do that till thursday
I get better battery when I turn off Google Location Access.
Which ROM is better in battery life CM10.1 or Beanstalk ? I have been using 10.1 from past 1 week but battery life is terrible. On 100% full charge i got around 18hrs wid limited internet access and phone calls nd brightness set to minimum.

[Best Battery ROM]

I dont mind downgrading but i need a ROM which has best GPS and also the best battery backup. I tried every ROM here and i get nearly 5 hours of battery that is all.
Please suggest me one ROM.

Smartass2/deadline 1000/100 mhz (only about an hour on 3g)
I was out today, and had screen at max brightness using gps for directions, playing solitaire and using 3g for FB, email ect... I only got 6 hrs battery with 3.5 hrs screen time.. I really didn't think that lowering the brightness helped that much, as I usually don't have it at full, but there is a huge difference.. Over 50% drop in battery life..
A simple rom with rich dark kernel
If u want the best battery from your phone consider trying Rasbeanjelly ROM with matr1x kernel. This ROM and kernel has always given me the best battery life though this ROM is not as highly customizable as aokp, paranoid android etc.

RC2 isn't that old (eaven if they pussed RC4 now), SO I'm guessing you dont have it installed for a long time, stay with it a couple of days and let the sistem calibrate the battery properly, after a fiew charging cicles it will be fine...if that doesent work try bb6 with marmite or helly 4.1.2 with Devil kernel updated
I've been frustrated with the battery, as I use this phone as my daily.. I recently bought a 3800 mah battery and get about 7 hours of screen time with moderate to heavy use.. I'm a bit more reassured now

I too play Ingress, if you're getting about 5 hours of play time you're doing very good. Most people that I play with get 2 hours max as Ingress is a client heavy app. Remember that playing Ingress is like streaming a movie to your phone and running GPS. The data/Wi-Fi and GPS use a lot of power as they are always on with your screen. I have found that if I tether my phone to another device and just use Wi-Fi for data I get about another 30 min of play time, or if I just use the phone as a hot-spot I will get about 4 hours of play on my N7 with out recharging.

Battery drain

Hi guys
I'm on RemICS v3.0 based on 4.2.1 CM alpha 3. From a little my battery goes to death in just 12 hours! I installed both Better Battery Stats and Gsam battery monitor! I noticed just some wakelocks during the night but I noticed (with Gsam) that Media process is draining a lot of battery! I think (took a look on the web) it is a notorius problem! Can someone help me to figure it out! Thank you!

Maybe ur battery's life had gone & should go for new one.
To check, once take out ur battery & spin it on flat surface, if it spins then it's swollen & that means battery has to be changed.

One year and a half is the age of mine when it started behaving like you describe.
Mine never got to last more than 18 hours, even when the battery was good and with a stock rom. All of a sudden I had to start hoping to get to my office before my battery died. And I live 1 hour away from my office!
Believe me and those who suggest changing the battery. A honest 1900 mAh battery is rather cheap on ebay, and can bring you that reassuring feeling of having power enough at least for a whole day!
