[Q] urgent! D2g brick cannot get into recovery mode - Droid 2 Global General

So i have a D2G IM NOT SURE of what all has been done not my phone its a friends phone. All of the buttons are functional i am no noob i have intermediate experience and decent research skills. This phone has been sbf'ed it received the mem map blank after a .608 sbf flash i even found a updated ezsbf bootable linux using the .629 and it didnt work it is stuck on bootloop with the Motorola Red M.. i can get into the recovery by power and hard x BUT, i cannot progress into the menu not by the search key or the volume rockers at the same time or even individually. Any assistance with this issue would be nice. devs any assistance would be appreciated. Im in need of some fast help my email is [email protected] me a email or post on here. .thanks in advance for any help with this issue.

Shadow thanks for timely reply.....its D0.11 and yes i get the android with triangle and everything i then press the search to activate the menu...and nothing....so i say maybe were running somthing different try to use volume rockers anddddd....nothing

well recovery changed from search to volume buttons with gb
maybe one of them is stuck
they both need to to be pressed at same time
I'd say keep trying, also does it go into charge mode, with phone off and then wall charger connected?
Sent from my MB870 using xda premium

no charge interface , no recovery interface, i use a external charger to charge the battery, heres a walkthrough...power on normally: turns on shows red motorola M thats what it stays on, Boot into recovery: shows red m screen darkens then i see android with white triangle then ! in the middle of triangle...i then press volume rockers at the same time repeatedly ...no menu pops up at all , i then try it with the search button ...doesnt do anything ...the whole time im seeing android with white triangle then ! in the middle of triangle.. im using a different sdcard (not to sound noobish) but would that make a difference ? if so is there away i can reapply the files needed or adb a recovery?

back to recovery
does it still say mem blank error?
no adb will not work

not currently, after using the ezsbf tool for .629 im at a bootloop i can recreate that error by flashing a .608 sbf if need be..once i have the mem map error i cannot access recovery i dont think i believe itll go straight to bootloader. wouldn't it ?

if charge mode doesn't work, sbf didn't work
reflash 629 or try 2.4.29 then try 629 again

okay ill try to reflash the .629 ill try the 2.4.29 i have no idea what that is btw its a lower sbf correct? i will get mem mapped wont i? ill most likely have to do it tomorrow i have literally been sbfing all day the battery is too low to program. not to mention its like 3:am. but a link or description of what the 2.4.29 is would be awesome do i want to flash this with rsdlite ? then completely power off and see if itll charge right?

yes 2.4.29 is a sbf, yes it will brick, but files will be written
then flash 4.5.629, may work correct
other options
use different usb data cable
usb port
PC
with rsd lite reinstall drivers

Well made this thread to ask the question haha
Would you suggest this rom or erikk's one? both are alpha
It looks like Eriks is a full Sony port and this is only a modified aokp with some Sony apps

Has anybody gotten it to flash? I just tried, and I get a recovery loop. Fortunately, was able to power cycle back into recovery and get miui flashed. I was afraid at first I was going to have to one click back and start over.

I'll look into it, and a question for experienced porters or devs. When I compile it (yes I am a zip noob) do I have to select no compression, or it doesn't matter?

I didn't mean to make it sound like that's a bad thing. Some people will prefer your rom because of the aokp features and some will prefer eriks for stock sony.
Either way, thank you for contributing your rom to the sgs4g development. It's very much appreciated

2nd DL, "Checking state of BML/MTD..." and then recovery loops.
DO not attempt to flash the zip file. It is improperly compiled, I will have a fix soon probably by tomorrow or tonight.
If you attempted to flash and got stuck on a boot loop, flash back to stock OR flash another ICS ROM.
Im stuck on the loading screen and can't get in download mode after being stuck in bootloop

First what model of phone do you have? Second if it is indeed the t959v you're not bricked. To get into recovery hold BOTH volume buttons and power. Once the boot screen gets brighter let go of power only.
I do have t959v but i tried what youre saying but the screen doesnt get brighter it just says dim
OK. Try this. same button combo. As soon as you see the splash screen count to two then let go of POWER. If that doesn't work do it by counting to three.
Tried that to but still nothing idk how flashing a rom could cause this

What ROM were you on before you flashed? And flashing a ROM shouldn't cause this. You said you can't enter DL mode either?? Have you used Odin or Heimdall before??
to go to stock follow hechoen's saying, but on TEAM ACID logo, wait for a LIGHT CHANGE and let go of the buttons. That is how I goto recovery every single time.
I trying to put the Xperia rom that we just got in the t959v forum but it was a bad link that just puts your phone into a bootloop.

[Q] Cannot hard reset p920.

Ok, the initial problem I had was that all my apps started force closing (swype beta, dropbox, calender, etc..). I tried un installing various apps but no joy. I tried to backup using Titanium and then factory reset, no joy. I tried to force an update using a pc and a copy of the latest firmware, no joy. I've been trying to get my phone into recovery using titanium, i also tried using the button presses but you guessed it, no joy. It jus switches off, or reboots.
I'm now at a loss so I'm here for any help you guys can offer.
Note, it also seems that my phone isn't keeping any changes since this has started. Any apps I un install are back when I switch on my phone, and any messages sent or calls made are gone when I switch on my phone.
I'll buy a drink for anyone that can get me up and running again
Thanks in advance.
I think holding home and vol- while turning the phone on will do factory reset. Before that put battery out and in again.

Ok, could yo be a bit more specific? I think there's something I'm not getting here. I've just tried this and its been on the LG splash screen for around 10mins, looks like its hung.
Do I hold home and vol- while I switch on and then release? hold them till the LG splash? hold all 3? hold until it goes into factory reset? Not having a go at you, just confused...

Wow! that does look hard, but I'll give it a go... one question though. Do I need to make that connector illustrated?
I've come back to this thread as I never actually resolved my issue. I just switched back to my BB and kept putting off fixing my p920. Now I actually want to fix it but still cannot. None of the methods advised up until now work.
Hopefully there maybe more information about the problem now. I have tried numerous factory resets all of which have no effect (phone boots up as before with multiple force close, and defaulting to that earlier date.)
I opened another thread regarding unrooting my phone (so I can send it off) but I thought to give this thread one more try.
Please help?

I'm going to have to take a look when I get to my mother in laws. Has anyone tried asking a developer for the Pantech Burst? There may be a simple solution to the issue that we are overlooking.
Sent from my PantechP8010 using Tapatalk 2
EDIT: Also, maybe the recovery partition has a type of lock? Similar to S-ON maybe? I'm going to ask some Pantech Burst developers to see what they have to say.
From doing a few searches with the error it seems to come up often in Pantech phones (other brands as well). It could be the version of CWM or it could just be a locked bootloader issue, or just a bootloader issue. I'm not sure myself but I'm getting my netbook set up with Mint and ditching the VM so I can find out myself.
Sent from my PantechP8010 using Tapatalk 2
EDIT: My VM is up and running now and I'm going to explore. From what I've gathered so far we need to unlock the bootloader to be able to flash anything to the partitions, this can be done with "fastboot oem unlock" I don't know if that command is going to be that easy but I'm going to check it out! If that fails then were going to need to tackle the bootloader first, also for the recovery, Rootzwiki has been a great source, and they have a tutorial for everything we are looking into, there is a command but I can't remember it right now in fastboot that allows us to boot partitions without them effecting the phone. We should try booting the recovery to see if it works, if it works we may need to flash something in the recovery to unlock the bootloader. I might be completely wrong but hopefully the unlock command works.

yeah sounds right youve had an evo before idk when but if ur one of the early users of the froyo root method we had to unlock a bootloader using a certain comand in adb to be able to downgrade to an earlier 2.2 that was rootable before the one clicks came out ill try to find that old evo tutorial and find that command lol there was a video i belive with it and the rootz wiki is what my other link on the other page was supposed to send u to i guess i missed a couple of words in the URL on that other page lol good luck to you keep us updated im glad the flex has gotten a community like ours that can use examples to start from scratch
Command should be "fastboot boot recovery.img". User attn1 from the burst developers said if it boots the recovery we should be able to install it with the recovery. I can also use fastboot on Windows in case anyone is interested. Also can we get the custom CWM posted?

Am I hard bricked?

I have a black HTC screen with a ! triangle in each corner. Tried to ruu and it failed and I have no clue what to do now. I've never seen this before so I'm lost. . .
I was running carbon rom and was having some bad random reboot problems. I wiped and tried to flash venom and it kept rebooting. So I locked it and tried to ruu, and it failed horribly.
I should also add that I am soff.
Have you tried to get back into boot loader manually? Press and hold volume down and power at the same time. When lights stop flashing, release power while continuing to hold volume down until you enter boot loader.

First off, you are not bricked in any sense of the word. On this device, if the screen comes on at all, you are not bricked, and you can recover from it. It just takes the proper steps.
RUU should have given an error code (like "ERROR 170"). Telling what code comes up might help.
You might just try to download the RUU again.
Or you can try to re-unlock the bootloader and flash custom recovery via adb. If that works, just load a custom ROM zip (by way of mount USB in recovery) and flash it.

Is that what the HTC screen with the red triangle with exclamation mark in each corner symbolizes? This screen is new to me.
I'm only familiar with the screen that had the big red triangle and exclamation in the middle of the screen, which is stock recovery.
I wish someone would put that you don't need to relock bootloader to RUU if you are S-OFF in the stickies somewhere.
Unfortunately, yes. The triangles in each corner with exclamation points are for radio brick. He damaged the partition in some way. Like you said, he may be able to flash over it but depends on the damage. If not it will be jewel or JTAG time.

Maybe something went awry while the RUU was trying to write to the radio partition?
He should be able to just reflash a new radio.
I suspect the initial problem was trying to run a Sense rom (Venom) on top of the AOSP kernel from Carbon.
Very possible. Bad ruu or didn't flash properly. Maybe op can let us know how reflashing turns out or if the jewel kit works. And like stated above, sense and aosp radio partitions are different. Being hung up on an asop ROM while flashing a sense ruu can not be good.

I believe so. But if he still has asop boot image it will have to be asop radio. This might help http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=27022095

AOSP radio is part of the Rom. Sense radio partitions are not even touched by an aosp Rom. You can flash a sense radio while on aosp and have no effect. I don't know if hboot has issues with a borked radio partition though.
I don't know about that. I have never flashed a ruu not compatible with the rom I am using. Hopefully reflashing the radio will fix op's problem.

That screen from what I can tell is what you get from a bad ruu flash. You need to flash an ruu to completion to fix it.
I left the phone overnight and I guess the battery died. Wont charge when I plug it in. Computer doesn't recognize it either.
What happened was my stupid cat knocked my phone off the computer desk when I was running the ruu and the cable came out. I tried to re run the ruu, but it wouldn't run. Adb commands also did nothing.
Since the phone wont charge and appears to be dead, I ended up using my phone insurance. . . should have a replacement in a few days.

He was jealous because you spend too much time playing with your phone. I would keep a close eye on that cat for a few days.
S-Off Evita Chameleon OS
Yeah unplugging during ruu is a perfect way to brick. I usually keep my cats out of the room while running an ruu and I ruu often lol. I don't trust twrp.

[Q] Phone - Caution - PC Loop, Bricked?

So I just want confirmation of what I fear. I think I bricked my T959W by following this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1852546 before doing my homework (for shame).
After getting past the root phase the phone turned on and I was getting ready to load a CWM or something but the phone locked up.
So I pulled the battery and went in to download mode. Then Odin connected but I accidentally pulled the USB.
So now I am at the aforementioned Phone-Triangle-PC loop. I have tried USB Jig without success.
So I have read over 40 post on this and my conclusion is it most likely I need to send it in for a JTAG Repair. As I most likely fudged the bootloader.
I am posting this only because no one has posted these exact symptoms that I could find.
Thanks

Ok it seems to be "saved" I had not realized there are 2 download modes. At any rate when I attempted those heimdall guides, one click and using the frontend. It started displaying the large triangle download screen. I cannot boot into recovery still, I may need help on this front.
Now before I move on could I get pointed at ROM/Guide that will get me operational again? I am a bit gun shy after this.
Thanks again,
Jon
Any of the ones on the first page in the development forum for this device.

So I managed to get CWM-recovery working. Yay
Only problem is I can't mount the sd card. And so I cannot load a ROM from it. I will be looking into this but I felt I should update.
Done and thank you
Great success! Turns out my sd card was corrupt fortunately I have an abundance of them.
Thanks for the help, you may allow this thread to die now.

Actually sir. I had this same problem. But i fixed it myself ^_^ Google is a awesome tool. What i had to do is Re-flash a kernel and rom. I pulled the plug in download mode. Took me about 12 hours of reserch and work to FINALLY fix it. Is your phone the SGH-T959V? If so i still have all the stuff you need i do believe.

I have Found the files that you need to flash through Odin
I can instruct you how to download SDK tools and use command prompts to Put your phone in Download mode.
It would be my pleasure. I definately do believe both of our phones are pretty much exactly the same. Id be more than happy to help another XDA member out. Post back or PM me for instructions.
