[Q] Galaxy Note 10.1 Battery Performance? - Galaxy Note 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi everyone!
I'm a student and i'm planning to buy galaxy note 10.1 in 2 days maybe for my lecture notes - taking notes, books as pdf ect. Here is my question.
I have sometimes 6 lessons in a row with only 10 minutes of break. And i'm curious about the battery performance of note 10.1. Will it survive at least 5-6 hours of note taking - with stock rom?
I need your thoughts about this topic and any other topic if you want to mention.

It will! The battery is very good on my note 10.1.

Oh that's cool! Will it survive for 1 day full of use?
Btw, thanks for your reply

If you make shore that your note is charged 100% before going to your lessons you will make it without a doubt. The battery life in my note 10.1 is just amazing!

Consistently get 8 hours of screen on time with everything enabled, WIFI, GPS, etc.

I would recommend you try out the ATIV Smart PC before you decide. OneNote can provide you significant benefits in your line of use.

The first few days of use, it won't have reached its fully battery life yet. Rechargeable lithium batteries reach full capacity after 2 or 3 decent charges (that said, don't fully flatten the battery for no good reason).
You should be able to get 8+ hours screen on time with this tablet, and probably more. I've used this extensively and have never had the battery run out after a full day of use, the lowest it's got has been to 40% at the end of a very hard day taking notes all day.

I get between eigth and ten hours of typical use, just should consider the slow charging times, but you can charge it overnight.
ATARI

Even only on my second charge it was 7 days standby + 7 hours usage. Most of that was reading and note taking.
The battery is fantastic.

Have it since August. Some days I had it continously screen on with 3G, BT, GPS activated, brightness automatic with a low trigger adjustment. Never ran out of juice before 10-12 hours, max. 16 hours in continous use with energy saving option on.
Drops approx. 5-7% per hour with screen on.

Dude he is not asking what tablet to buy he is asking about battery performance of note, if you want to push Ativ please do it in a relevent thread or post

Thank you for your replies guys, that really helped me. Now, i have no doubt about battery performance!

[Q] Battery life?

I currently have an HTC sensation and the battery life is awful.
How long does your charge last and what are you doing on your phone?
There's a lot of thread like this one on the forum. And the answers are the same : you have to test it by yourself because nobody uses its phone like you. But to me, the battery life of the One S is excellent.

I came from Sensation also and I can confirm that the battery from HOS is way better than on the Sensation. I am a power user and my phone is near me all day long. With HOS I get approx 4.5 hrs screen on, 3G / WiFi always on , 1 hrs calls, internet browsing all day long + 1/2 hrs gaming session and my battery lasts from 7 am till 11 pm. At 11 pm I still get 10-15%. I guess if I was a medium to low user, the battery would last for 2 days for sure. With Sensation, with the same usage as mentioned above, I get from 7 am till 2 pm with indulgence (and I use a 1700mAh Momax).

I got a little over 6 hours (5.5 hours screen on) of constant web browsing and listening to music, with everything auto-syncing and both Wi-Fi and mobile data on. I was literally sitting with the phone browsing the web for 6 hours straight, barely letting the screen turn off (I was bored). In a less severe usage case I could see it lasting a full day and beyond.
What can I say? The battery life it's greats......

battery drain soo fast when in use
i bought my samsung galaxy 2 tab 7 p3100 few day back and im not satisfied with the battery when in use it battery drains soo fast approximately stands for 15 hours only when left unused stands for 1 and half to 2 day...i can see battery percent goes 1 by 1 with minutes when i use is continuously and my version is P3100DDLE1 ... i use 2g gprs all the time and stay connect all the time in facebook and whatsapp 24x7 and gmail ....... should i claim warranty for the battery??? does anyone face the same problem????
I am running on roughly 7 hours at 78% of battery left. Been using the Internet a lot (Facebook, some Drop Box upload/download) and the Wifi is on all the time when the tab is not locked/standby. I played a little bit of a basic game as well (Free Flow), so it isn't graphically intense. I am by no means the most experienced here, but in my opinion, that sounds like some decent, if not very good, battery usage..

Thanks for your kind reply may i know how many hours once you charge your device ????
I used mine on Friday for 10hrs,tons of browsing,I turned the screen on and off many, many times, video calls for roughly 10mins,music,games for 45mins and at the end of all this I still had a 42% left.
The device is the P3100 wifi+3g it is rooted; I was only using wifi,so no 3G at all, I also had the tab on airplane mode with wifi constantly running,so no 911 calls.
I am running the latest stock rom,it is rooted and bloatware free,I also limit the background processes down to none,1 or 2 max.
So far I am very happy with my tab, although wifi is still spotty.
OP What are your settings?

Here is a screenshot of my battery usage once pulled off the charger after a full charge. I have the Wi-Fi only version of the tab.
If you cannot view the screenshot.. After a full charge, I have 44% battery life left, have been running on the battery for 1 day and 7 hours, and the screen has taken the largest toll at 46%.

was it roughly 6 hours when it drained fully???
my galaxy tab p3100 drained fully in roughly 5 hours of screen time on
At least for me, turning down the brightness all the way and disabling some system apps that are always on helped my battery a lot.

Yes, my screen is usually on about 6 to 7 hrs. And my battery life is about 15 to 24 hours.
I wonder those said their battery can stay for more than 1 day, how long was their screen on?
My guess is although the battery can stay long time but the screen on is only about 6 to 7 hours.
If yours only 5 hours maybe the gsm signal was not good. Try to change to 2g only. Or change other provider.
Hey thanks for the reply i use 2g sim only and I'm 24x7 online in 2g gprs i guess the gprs can also consume that much battery I guess I'm i right????

I am sure there are people who use the tabs for different things,if you are studying or reading a lot you will be able to see how long it lasts on, for users like me that turn it on and off pretty often the battery lasts maybe longer. I use it a lot for hours and hours, but it is never on for more than 1hr.

Like user 2 posts back said. I seem to charge mine every 5 days and it is always on stand by when not being used.
good day.
No problem for me about battery on Tab p3100
I felt that having Sim card inside the 3100 drains the battery pretty fast. I was not using much of 3G/GPRS connection. So after removing the Sim, I found battery usage reduced drastically. Overnight, the battery used to drain by 7 to 8% in standby mode with Sim card inside.
I don't understand, how people can comfortable use tablet with screen brightness at 0% or even 20%... it's mystical to me..If you buying tablet, you want to get good screen quality, good battery life (even at 50-70% brightness), smooth performance and so on...I have 2 tablets, ipad 2 and Samsung 3110. I really love my samsung, but battery life totally suck on it, when you compared to ipad...
Not a good comparison, iPad has a bigger battery

Battery Life Complaints?

I was just wondering why there are so many complaints about the battery life on the s3...right now I'm on aosp pure Google and with 18 hours on the battery for the day I'm at 87%...This is pretty average with most of the aosp Roms I have used...I turn of WiFi and 4g unless I'm using them and I have a few battery tweaks in my init.d and build.prop that are on just about every site that is android related and are pretty easy to apply... If .7 % per hour is really something to complain about then get a junky flip phone...you should be able to get like 3 days out of that...battery drain is going to happen when you basically have a handheld laptop with the power and capabilities the s3 has...Just sayin

A lot of people here are considered in the 'heavy usage' category, which the stock battery drains quickly. For me, I could drain the battery in 5-6 hours easily. And fyi the time the phone is on matters very little, it's all about screen on time. With my extended battery I get 8-10 hours of SCREEN ON which is the most important aspect, glad the stock battery works okay for your usage, everyone is different.

Geeez...what are you doing to kill an extended battery like that? I get that much while playing games and using my browser...i am also over clocked at 2106mhz...i wonder if there a lot of these going out with bad batteries...i see more complaints from people getting drain with screen off than on

Unfortunately I believe you're confusing uptime with the amount of time the screen is on, I can guarantee you do not get 8-10 hours of the screen being on in a single charge with the stock battery, even at the lowest brightness setting. Post screen shots of those two screens when you get that much, I'd love to see it! That was only my 3rd cycle with the 4400 mAh battery, it's even better now, I just haven't taken any new screen shots.
Oh, and my brightness was at 50-75% that day.

Questions about the S6 before buying

Hi all, I'm considering buying a Galaxy S6 and I'd like to ask about how the device is holding up. I've heard that out of the box it's good, but lag and poor battery life start to set in within days. Is this true?

No lag at all after a week, fastest phone ever owned (I came from Note 4, Nexus 6 and Iphone 6). Battery for me is a really bad and also the reception.
No issues with lag when I owned the phone but battery life was shocking when comparing to an iPhone 6 - and that isn't even best of class!

Hmm, define shocking? Also what's everyone's SOT?
I'd describe myself as a medium user, use 2 to 3 hours every day, mostly on WiFi, will it survive a whole day?

I would say I'm the same in terms of use. The phone dropped 30% in about an hour and half worth of constant browsing... I always have a charger around so I've not been in a position where it's run out or run really low.
I switched from a Nexus 6 mostly because the N6 was too big and I loved the camera on the S6. The S6 is just as fast (if not faster) than my N6 w/ Faux kernel. I'm getting similar battery life/SOT. My S6 is completely stock aside from some frozen apps/bloat.
Not the OP but I am thinking about S6 but scared of low battery life.
Appreciate the info so that would be equal to about 5 hours continual Browsing.
At low indoor brightness maybe 25% and on LTE - is that about what you get ?
Some vague " Pro Reviews" suggest more but they seem to use non real world tests...
no problems with the battery life for me. I usually get around 4.5 - 5 hours screen on time with 16-17 hours total time. It takes about and hour to charge from 10% to 100% I have T-mobile service so I had to turn off wifi calling and VoLTE. Those were big battery drains. It has good standby times too. I usually charge it to 100% then unplug it before i go to bed. I wake up and the phone is at 99% or 98%.
Also i leave the auto brightness on, bluetooth on, location is gps only, google location reporting off, google now off.

Battery Life Thread

Just going to start this by putting up these screen shots. After the first charge to%100. Watching Star Trek TNG on Amazon video. Listening through headphones, over WiFi. Sync on half the time.
Got the phone yesterday afternoon and am loving it!
Honorable mention:
Even after updates my G4 often had weird screen issues while typing. Especially while swyping. None here
Not the greatest battery I have seen android do. Given its lg and 3000 I will forgive it lol. With 1hr music 1.5hr Skype call and mild gaming. For some reason having an sd card again is making me download music and listen to them [emoji23]

Tell me about it. Add to that the extra battery promotion and that 200gb sd card and my forgiveness seems to grow a bit more! Lol
Not too shabby, though, methinks.

Awesome so far... My G3 is not there and it's tempermental. I would hope that one battery is enough to last a whole day, but with the promotion AT&T is doing, it won't be long until the second battery is in my hands and it won't matter at all. I do love that! So far the shots look great, and as most people get their devices settled in it will really show it's true colors... For the second day that's pretty good in my book. SoT over 4 is aces these days with all these screens coming in at over 5...

The promotion is what made me not care. $175 worth of kit?! Yes please! But now having it and getting over 4 hours SOT, I'm very satisfied. Also, you hit the nail on the head. TWO screens, six inches of it, and over 4 HOURS SOT.... I'll take it!
If you look at the notes five forums you will see that to begin with everyone was complaining about battery life, however after short time everybody calmed down after the battery settled down. Has been the same with every device I have ever owned. Battery life takes a few days to reach efficiency.

Only seeing really is screen see to auto brightness . other than that I'm just using the phone. Nothing special.
I'm getting about 4 hours with Waze, screen at around 20-30 brightness, sync and data on. Standby time is awesome. On my first charge for example, I got 4 hours minimal use from 8%!! That was on wifi though and since it was first charge, it's not very objective info.
My phone is not going into deep sleep worth a damn. It almost seems like it is Bluetooth related (I leave BT on 24/7 - haven't had a problem in previous devices). Once I shut off BT, it seems to be sleeping, but I need to test it more. The phone isn't connected to anything. I just leave BT idling for when I get into my car basically... don't like having to turn it on/off, just like WiFi. Battery stats are showing that Android System is what is staying awake though, and not BT. Anyone else having a problem like this?
I get just ok battery life. Seems better than my G4(which I only had for 5 days. Still my Nexus 6 and old Note 5 seemed to be a lot better
