Whats PIT for? noob sorry...
It is partitioning infomation for you phone. under NO circumstance should you ever use it unless you know why you need it!
the potential to brick your phone with a bad partition table is very high if you do it wrong.
this is ONLY needed for people that stuff up there Partition Table

Thanks for the answer.
Mine is in bootloop on the Samsung Logo... after the i9305 logo. I enter on download mode put any FW in Odin and everything works OK, then loo´again.
Think this file can help me ?
Method 1:
If your device is on stock firmware, that also means it does not have a custom recovery like CWM or TWRP not installed on it, do the following steps:
1.Pull out the the battery of your phone, wait for about 30 seconds and reinsert it to its place.
2.Boot your device into ASR (Android System Recovery) mode. The method involves a hardware key combination and varies from one phone to another. For Samsung phones, for example, the key combination is Volume Up+ Home + Power keys. The tablets which generally have no Home button, you can enter the Recovery mode by pressing and holding the Volume Up + Power keys simultaneously.
3.In the Android System Recovery, scroll down to “wipe cache partition”. option using the volume rockers and select it using the power key.
4.When you have wiped the data/factory, go back to the main menu and reboot the device by “reboot system now” option.
5.If the device is still stuck on Bootanimation pull out the battery again and repeat the above steps. This time also “wipe data/factory reset” and then reboot device
The bootloop problem should be fixed now.
Method 2:
If you have a rooted device with CWM Recovery installed and your phone is caught into a bootloop after flashing a custom ROM or mod, do as follows:
1.Pull out the battery, reinsert it after 30 seconds and boot the device into CWM Recovery: Volume Up+ Home + Power keys simultaneously.
2.Go to “Advanced”
3.Choose “Wipe dalvik-cache”
4.Now go to “Mounts & Storage”
5.Choose “Wipe /cache”
6.Reboot your phone
The bootloop should be gone now. If it still persists, do this.
1.Boot the phone again into CWM Recovery
2.Now go to “Mounts & Storage”
3.Choose “Wipe /data”
4.Choose “Wipe /cache”
5.Then reboot your phone.
Now the phone should reboot normally. Next time when you install a ROM, follow the instructions prescribed by the developer. Be more attentive to the warnings before experimenting with any third party ROM or mod. Always ensure what you are about to install is meant for your device.
If the Above Methods Do Not Work!
In case you are not able to get your device come out of bootloop, your final option should be to install or restore a previously backed up ROM by putting the device in recovery mode, or to install the official firmware/factory image to your phone.
Don't know why but PIT file attached in OP doesn't worked for me. My partition table was corrupted, tried to flash different firmwares with this PIT file but it always failed at re-partitioning fase. After long research i found repair firmware based on 4.4.4 ROM which include correct PIT file. Feel free to download:

Just in case anyone else stumbles across this thread - the OPs PIT file failed for me too, but this one worked a treat. Saved my phone after a bad flash screwed the data partition and refused to mount.

Hey, I was able to make changes to the Heimdall repository to easily gain access to flashing with Linux to the Galaxy Camera. This is important because this is the only way to get a PIT file unless Samsung themselves make changes and issue a new pit.
Here is the PIT for the Samsung Galaxy Camera. http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=1487728&stc=1&d=1353110552

I wanted to log this here for others to use.
To reproduce the changes to Heimdall for the Galaxy Camera, you simply need to "git clone" the heimdall repo located here: https://github.com/Benjamin-Dobell/Heimdall
Then find the line that says kPIDGalaxyS2 in /Heimdall/heimdall/source/BridgeManager.h:
Code:
kPidGalaxyS = 0x6601,
[B]kPidGalaxyS2 = 0x685d,[/B]
kPidDroidCharge = 0x68C3
Then make Heimdall as usual. It's able to pull the Partition Information Table easily.
... And root achieved under Linux. I spoke to Chainfire about CF AutoRoot. He requested a recovery.img. He then posted the binary here. http://download.chainfire.eu/283/CF-Root/CF-Auto-Root/CF-Auto-Root-gd1-ekgc100.zip
I extracted all files from that binary, built heimdall as above and was able to flash. Heimdall will be built for this device soon. I've submitted a ticket.
Code:
[email protected]:~/Desktop/heimdall$ /usr/local/bin/heimdall flash --cache ./cache.img --recovery ./recovery.img

How did you get that?
I'll be posting the table (based on this) in my partition table thread. But it would be better to obtain the output of the standard partition commands...
Actually that list above, makes little sense. Where are the mount points and "block size" is probably not a block size etc... I'd much rather see the output from these commands...
EDIT:
BTW. Have you managed to rip this thing apart yet? I'd love to see some internal pictures...
Hey Adam thanks for this but one question, should I use this pit file with heimdall or with odin, in both cases which firmware gave you this pit partitioning( on the mexican sgs sometimes different firmwares had different pit)
thanks!
I set up a job to analyze PIT files over at http://jenkins.CASUAL-Dev.com and you can analyze PIT files with more accuracy there.
This is my own breed of Print-Pit.

Well, This information could be posted in the General Section too! Original Android Development is the wrong section! Even android development isn't meant for these sort of stuff :silly: Better post only after thinking whats the right section for you post
If MOD's agree that this post doesnt belong to this group I request please move to General Section.
@ TheDemiGod: next time will post in right section.

It can be a sticky in the general section I guess
I borrowed a friend's S2 Skyrocket i727 several months ago because I was developing an app that my phone couldn't handle. With his permission I rooted it, but didn't install a custom ROM or a custom recovery. Best I can recall, what I did was unlock it by flashing a boot img via heimdall and then installed SuperSU.
When i was ready to give it back to him, I tried to do a factory reset from the settings menu, and the result was a bootloop. I couldn't get it into recovery mode or download mode. I bought a usb jig, and with that I was able to get into download mode. But I've tried several approaches to flash something that will fix it, and nothing has worked.
I Downloaded the stock 4.1.2 ROM, untarred the tar file, and tried to install the files there with the following command (using Ubuntu 13.10)
sudo heimdall flash --pit s2.pit --FACTORYFS factoryfs.img --CACHE cache.img --HIDDEN hidden.img --MODEM modem.bin --KERNEL zImage --PARAM param.lfs --PRIMARY-BOOT boot.bin --SECONDARY-BOOT Sbl.b
All the files above were in the downloaded tar file, except s2.pit, which I downloaded from the device using heimdall download-pit. I also tried not specifying a pit file, so it would use the one on the device. These attempts fail because the pit file does not have most of the partitions I'm referencing, e.g. FACTORYFS and KERNEL. The pit file printout is pasted below.
Since there is a BOOT and a RECOVERY partition, I tried flashing just boot.bin to the RECOIVERy partition. This didn't seem to have any effect. I also downloaded the CWM recovery image for the i727 and tried to flash recovery.img to the RECOVERY partition. But still I'm unable to boot into recovery or to anything else.
I don't know if my pit file is corrupted, or if I have to flash a custom ROM, or if I need to map the files above to other partitions listed in my pit file. Other than rooting my HTC Inspire 4G a couple years ago and rooting the S2, I don't have much experience with flashing files from a PC, so I don't know the particulars of what goes into what partition.
Here is my pit file:

Thanks, but Heimdall does the same thing that Odin does, and I don't use Windows. I did try it with Heimdall on OSX, and it did the same thing. The problem is not with the flashing software. The problem is that the pit file doesn't have the partitions that I'm trying to flash files to, based on what I've read online about flashing a ROM to the S2. I just checked the ROM I downloaded and realized that it's for the I9100, not the i727 skyrocket. So that's my problem. But I'm having trouble finding a ROM for the i727 that I can flash via heimdall. All the ones I find are zip files that I flash from the phone using a custom recovery, but I can't boot the phone into recovery.

Go to sammobile.com for the stock firmware. You'll have to register but it's free. You'll get a zip, extract it for the.tar.md5

So sammobile is where I got the i9100 ROM. I fo to their site, the firmware section, and search on samsung, s2, skyrocket, i727, and all that comes up are ROMs for other phones, not the i727. All the ROMs shown are for copountries other than the US, and I'm in the US, and the sammobile site is a US URL. So I don;t know why I can't find any US ROMs, much less the i727 ROM.

NM found it on xda-developers here. Don't know what's wrong with sammobile's search. I'll give this a try and see what happens.
And that did the trick. Flashing the correct ROM => unbricked phone. Thanks for the help.

Glad you got it working

Today I tried to put a ROM on my Samsung GS3 (Verizon) and ended up soft bricking it. The error that appeared was after restarting where I got the message “SECURE FAIL: KERNEL” in the top left corner of my screen. On that same screen was a message saying that my software was not approved by Verizon. I showered the internet for a solution and the only one I could find required me to use ODIN which is only for Windows and I have a Mac. So, I did research and fixed it myself. I decided to make a guide to help others. It’s not a great guide, but it’s the best I can do at the moment.
NOTE: I’m not responsible for any damage done to your device, continue at your own risk.
This has only been tested on my Samsung GS3 (d2vzw) and this is only intended for this device.
Download and install the Heimdall suite from:
glassechidna.com.au/heimdall/
Since I'm new I can't post links so you'll have to copy and paste, sorry.
Once Heimdall is installed, you should have "heimdall-frontend" in your applications folder.
Now, get your phone and put it into download mode. Here's how:
Make sure your phone is off
Press and hold the volume down, home, and power buttons simultaneously until the warning screen appears.
It will give you the option to cancel or continue, choose continue. In my case, volume up was continue and volume down was cancel.
Now that you're in download mode, connect your phone to your mac via USB and open the heimdall frontend.
The first thing I did was go to the utilities view and made sure heimdall detected my phone by clicking "detect." If it does detect your phone, it will say so in the "Output" box.
Now you're going to need to download your device's PIT by making a destination file and clicking "download." It doesn't matter what you name this file, I called mine "backup.pit" for instance.
I think that it's a good idea to verify that heimdall actually downloaded the PIT, because I had some troubles early on. Do this by using "Print PIT" and choose "Local File" and select the destination file you made in the previous step. Click "Print." You should see the PIT file in the "Output" box. My PIT file had an entry count of 27, and the first entry's partition name was "SBL1" for example. I will include the full output at the end of this so that you have something to compare to.
Now you need to download VRALF2.boot.tar.md5 and VRALEC.bootloader.tar.md5
which can be found at goo.im/devs/cmwiki/d2vzw/root/
Switch to the “Flash” view.
Under “PIT” browse for the pit file you downloaded from your phone.
Now, under “Partitions (Files)” click “Add”
Under “Partition Details” select “BOOT” for partition name and choose VRALF2.boot.tar.md5 for the file. It will give you a warning saying that it expects files with the extension “img” just click OK.
Following the same routine as above, under “Partitions (Files)” click “Add”
Under “Partition Details” select “ABOOT” for partition name and choose VRALEC.bootloader.tar.md5 for the file. It will give you a warning saying that it expects files with the extension “mbn” just click OK.
Now comes the point of no return: click “Start” if this was successful, your phone should boot up just like it used to. If not, one potential problem I had was that Heimdall didn’t communicate with my phone, I simply unplugged the USB and plugged it back in and tried again and it worked.

Heimdall is for Mac, Linux, and Windows, refer to OPs post for the download link, or google it
Hello all, looking at what I need to do to get this baby TWRP. I'm trying to build PAC for it but I'm not seeing a definitive guide for getting this thing ready. Do I just need to find twrp for i925 and flash in Odin and we're good? Or is there more to this?
Update: Apparently the previous owner had rooted the tablet without telling me and so I tried to flash the automatic bootloader unlock and all that. Well it failed and my tablet keeps flashing the download mode screen. I can get it to stay if hold power and volume up. When I go to flash stock firmware in Odin I'm now getting this set of errors:

So I may have figured out what I need to do but I still need some help. Pretty sure I need to get my PIT file for the i925, and some SBOOT.bin file. I believe I have the correct firmware file to flash in odin. I'm just not sure what my steps are and what options I need to enable in odin ie: Bootloader update, Re-partition.... PLEASE, any help would be greatly appreciated.
Well it seems my PIT is still intact. As I have pulled it from Heimdall, here it is if anyone cares.
