[Internet issue]Please help me out! - Galaxy Note 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Im begging you guys for help.
The internet on my note 10.1 is becoming unbearably slow. Google play apps takes more then 10 minutes to download "5-8 mbs", internet browsing is really slow. Internet keeps disconnecting and giving me an Authentication failed error "I'm sure I have the right password since it works with other devices" or a network disabled error, poor connection. Could anyone please help me? I tried rebooting the device, wiping cache.
Please help me out!

Come on guys 20 views with no help?

Rofl thats impatience!
Try connecting to another network and check speed so youll know if its the tab or the network..
If its the tab, make a nandroid backup and then odin. If the problem persists, return it under warranty for wifi module issues.
If its the network then work out whether its router or modem or provider and work it out

Mate, people will reply if they can help... Whats the point of saying anything if there's no contribution to the solution.
Also, you might not be the only one with a problem and others are looking for a solution too.

Try1- restart the router.
Try2- Unset qos feature from your router. Google for it.
Try3- forget the network. Reboot. Try connecting again.
Try4- exchange the tablet

Wifi problem just reared its ugly head after 48 hours with official Froyo

I may have bragged too soon on good ol' official Froyo. I had a smooth install and the only problem I've noticed is the messed up Quick Office deal like most others. Today I just had another problem start.
I've been using my secured home wifi network fine, but for some reason the Captivate will no longer connect to it. I've tried doing a battery pull, turning the phone off and back on, and even completely removing the home network from the list and then putting it back in. I'm sure the password is correct. It just sits there, saying "Obtaining IP address". It retries several attempts, and eventually gives up and lists my home network in the list as "Disabled"
This is significant suckage!

I had similar problem try unplugging router and plugging back in
Bless your heart! That did it! I just read on the AT&T forums that someone else had the exact same problem and he did a factory reset of his phone which fixed it. I was hoping I wouldn't have to go there
I found an easy solution to the problem. Open Allshare, then you should be good to go.
After opening Allshare, hit connect.
Yes sometimes power cycling the router is all that is needed. I notice this with laptop sometimes too.

Yeah that was me...
I tried everything else before the factory reset, but the reset fixed it, now I've got wi-fi with no problems
If you do a factory reset, I realize you have to reinstall all your apps, but what about the ones I paid for? Will I have to purchase those again? I'm thinking of doing one just because I think it will smooth things out and get rid of a couple of weird quirks like the Quick Office icon problem.

anything you purchase with your google account is tied to your google account. you dont have to re-buy those...for any phone that you log into your google account.
Has anyone tried my fix? Sure beats having tofactory reset...I'm just sayin.

It works, but you have to do it every time, so it's more of a workaround than a fix.
I had an issue with connecting to one of my work wifi routers (would just sit there saying 'obtaining IP address' but never would connect) and could not fix it until I tried using "FXR WiFi Fix and rescue" app from the market. Free app, will erase ALL of your saved WiFi data so make sure you have your passwords for encrypted networks, but this fixed it with one click and a reboot. Seems to connect faster to the networks now as well. I had a similar problem after the previous update that went out OTA and had to reset the phone for that one.
I thought about trying this app, as my wifi issue returned today. I thought I had gotten rid of it by doing the factory reset, but alas it's back. I'm really contemplating a custom ROM more and more every day. I just don't know which one to go with that will provide everything I need. This app sure asks for a lot of permissions, so I'm sort of leary about istalling it.
Welp, I bit the bullet and tried the FXR app. No dice for me. I'm waiting for the wife to get done surfing so I can try a router power cycle. If that doesn't work, I'm looking at my second factory reset in less than a week. Froyo, you suck! I never had wifi issues until I upgraded to 2.2. What I can't understand is, why some of my issues are better, yet some are worse. Is it that difficult for these idiots to figure it out?
Just going to throw something out there, that I noticed yesterday. I'm on a custom ROM, but I noticed some pretty flaky results to my wifi, but only when I was using the modified TouchWiz launcher. The wifi had trouble connecting, and wouldn't sleep. The notification dropdown widget wouldn't control it. Then I switched to Go Launcher EX, and the behavior stopped.
Check another launcher, and see if that makes a difference. Sure, it's a longshot, but I'll be interested to see if the stock TW has the same issue as the modded version.
I was having the same wifi problem after updating firmware to official 2.2 kb1. I used fxr and now wifi connection works great.

just installed Revolver rom on my transformer and now i cant connect to home wifi...

Hi everyone. Im new to the Revolver rom so bare with me. I downloaded and installed the rom a little while ago while on my home wifi and after rebooting i tried to setup my wifi connection but it would never connect. It just kept saying "obtaining ip address". So then i turned my phone's hot spot on and then it connected to it. Idk if i did something wrong or what but im sure i dont want to run my phones hot spot all the time just to give my tab internet... especially while at home. Can someone please help me with this prob?
RE:
Have you tried to reboot your router?
It sounds to me like a DHCP issue...
Might be that the router used all of the IP's it was able to provide and now the buffer is full...
I will go try that right now. Thanks for the reply
That did it. Thanks again

[Q] Connection Problem: "authentication via the proxy server was unsuccessful"

[Q] Connection Problem: "authentication via the proxy server was unsuccessful"
Hey there,
Whoever can solve this would most likely help many others out there.
I tried looking this up on google and on XDA, but there is no solution so far besides doing a factory reset.
I have been having a problem with my data network since yesterday, it doesn't connect to the internet at all. The LTE/4G sign is visible when I turn it on though, but none of the apps are able to connect.
WIFI works like usual, and that is the only way I can connect online with my phone at the moment.
There were some who said that the app "PDAnet" was the problem, and that you can reset the proxy settings, however, this option is only available for tablet versions.
I have:
A Galaxy Note i717 (with Telus)
[ROM/MOD][The Collective] Seraphim - First Flight - ICS
Kernel version: 3.0.8-perf-I717UCLC5-CL281649 [email protected] #1
Any help would be very much appreciated, thanks.
Hm, internet seems to be working now.
All I did was wait, later through the day my phone was able to detect the data connection. There were no setting changes or anything, I just left my phone, made phone calls, send/receive texts; and all of the sudden, it worked.
For those who have a similar problem, I'm sorry that there is no quick solution as of now, but it seems like the network would eventually fix itself.
I hope that there are other solutions out there, if you happen to know any, please don't shy away from sharing.
Hi,
My friend and I have the same problem, both of us have the i717 running dagr8's ICS_CLC5_Alpha2 ROM. Everything was working perfectly until Thursday morning, everything looks like it should work, but it doesn't.
Telus wasn't able to help outside of being able to tell me that when they notice my phone register to the network, it only registers to voice and not data.
Luckily we keep nandroid backups of every ROM we run, and we found that the only ROM that worked perfectly was the stock ROM (no custom ROM GB or ICS worked). However, we did find that the Mozilla Nightly (or Aurora in my case) was able to access the internet on the ROMs that didn't work. My next step is to get Telus back on the line and have them check what they see when the Mozilla browser accesses the internet.
My buddy also ran a logcat, and found that the phone reported some problems while attempting to connect to the data network. I don't have the log, I'll see if I can get him to post it later.
I'm glad your connection is up and running, and it looks like my buddy's connection is working as of this morning, so hopefully mine will be back up shortly.
The fix is to clear the proxy entries under the Telus APN, did that this morning, and data has been working since then.
finaly thank u

P6200 WiFi Issue

Hey guys. This is my first thread here. So, I hope you can help me.
When I upgraded my GT+ to ICS then now to JB, I already had problems with the WiFi. I thought I would find the problem in the forums, but mine I think is different. There are two arrows in the WiFi indicator, the orange and the green ones. When these two arrows are both lighted up, it means that it is transferring data to the Tab or whatsoever so that I could connect to the Internet. Well, this is based on my understanding, hope you could still help me about this.
So, the problem is, whenever I open the internet and enter an URL, the green arrow stops blinking leaving the orange ones lighted up until both of them are already not blinking and then the browser says, "Webpage not available" (like the attachment below). It happens all the time and whenever I update my Apps in the Google Play, after, example: 23% of downloading the app, it stops and the same scenario happens again. What I do is, I will turn off the WiFi toggle and turn it on again and after, maybe 30 minutes, it happens again.
What do you think guys is the problem? Is it the router or modem's problem too? Or it is a software issue? Thank You guys! ))

Yes. I have tried it on my sister's S3 Mini. I never experienced that scenario when my GT+ was still Honeycomb. It just happened when I updated it to ICS.
These are also some happenings:
- When I will refresh the Accuweather widget, it will happen again. Both of the arrows will stop blinking.
- When I am updating 15 Apps (for example), again, Both of the arrows will stop blinking then it will stop downloading.
- When I am using Google Now then I said something, it will just show "Recognizing" then it sill show "No connection."
- When I am surfing the web and then I searched something, again the arrows will stop blinking, then the browser says, "Webpage is not available"
- When I am uploading photos to Facebook, same scenario again and then it will show, "No connection"
The WiFi is not disconnecting actually. It stays connected but it stops giving data. I'm suffering from this problem since ICS. I don't know what's really the source of this problem. That's why I'm seeking for help here in XDA. Thank youuuu.

My router actually is Tenda and I think it's already old. So, I'll try other routers. )
Make sure you have the correct wifi frequency band set on your tab for your region/or router. I'm not sure if the stock Samsung roms let you configure it. In aosp builds it's in wifi and advanced menu.

In the Advanced menu, it only shows the IP and MAC Address. How can I know the correct frequency band? I posted an attachment for the picture of the Advanced Settings. )
It seems the problem come from your modem.
I had similar problem like this. My wifi router connect to modem and sometimes this modem does not allocate IP for router.
This problem is most likely related to IP configuration issues. Let try to use some apps to list down all configurations and check
I only experience this every after flashing roms coz my apn settings always gets edited, what I did before if i dont want problems with wifi every after flashing roms using odin was I copied my apn settinngs and edit the wrong apn settings after flashing, or I remove sim card before flashing but I made a copy of apn just to be sure

APN has nothing to do with wifi. APN applies to your cell data connection. 3g, LTE, etc. not to wifi.

Removing a strange IP address, how..

Nexus 5 android 5.1.1. I noticed it a while back and thought flashing the newest factory image would take care of it but it didn't. I'm assuming there is a block on it of some sort, I have no idea how it got on here. Haven't gotten into writing code but I think I should. This is troublesome and any help will be much appreciated. I'll include a screen shot also. Thanks
That IP address came from the last access point you connected to. Try forgetting all networks in the WiFi settings and try connecting to your AP again.
BTW, it appears you are having connection problems.

No connection problems at all and done that forgetting the connections but that never goes away.. Guess it's time to study and see if I can't figure it out as usual. Thanks for the response though.
