My screen has been really annoying lately...Sometimes it's unresponsive..sometimes laggy...and the issue has been building up...after searching around I think the problem might be one of two things : Either the screen protector is building up static or there is a problem with the grounding.
The grounding problem was posted in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1239238 ,
but i can't find the grounding pin in the chacha.
Can anyone help me with any solutions for this annoying lag? or at least tell me how to find the ground pin?
Didn't find a grounding pin, but have you tried to ground it to a heater or whatever is grounded with the steel part of the phone? (Not sure what the rules about grounding are in you country, but here in the netherlands, almost everything is grounded...)

Well I think the problem is that the grounding pin is not connected properly to the steel part of the phone..so I don't believe grounding it would help unless i find that grounding pin

I have had a idea about this for weeks and the soultion
http://www.maplin.co.uk/conductive-pen-33837?tabid=1&criteria=usb&c=so&u=strat15
As This pen is used to re-place broken conductive tracks on circuit boards etc
(for those want to know exactly what its for, read on the site)
my idea is to coat the back of the plastic where the wifi and gsm aerial's make contact with the board to amplify the signal, instead of the little tracks that htc have provided.
But my problem is finding a video showing the camera area removed without damaging it (where the wifi arial is)
I have been in the gsm repair trade for years, and i take this idea from the old nokia 3210's and the aerial's on those which used to just clip of and where the same idea.

i remember someone saying that the heated their phone to remove the cover near the camera (not sure how he did it)
you might want to try the software fix that is already available, many people said that their problem has been fixed after applying the software fix
but if you manage to open it can you report if there is any improvement in the signal attenuation in dbm?(using some app like wifi analyzer)
edit:found a video but how to open the back is not shown...

There was another thread in this forum (can't find it now) written months back where someone was trying and achieved successes removing back off phone, as you say by heating the phone to melt glue

I'll flash a new Rom,radio and kernel tonite, then the software fix and see how it goes, unless one of the custom time already have it included, and report back

I think that you'll find that most of the Custom ROMS have the wifi fix already in them.
This was the other thread that I remember reading before, hope it is of help..

Hello guy,
since several weeks ago, my Desire has been acting strange..actually the right speaker of the headphone is not as loud as the left side...it goes normal again after I sake or move or twist the connection to the phone..
I have tried many ROMs and several headphones...the problem is still there...
I believe it is because the female plug on the phone is perhaps dirty, but I tried to use the PCB cleaner by spraying it inside the female plug...the problem is still there...
I wonder if anyone can give me an idea how to clean it?....or how to fix it...I just hope it is not broken or partly broken...
I have a similar problem, although luckily for me it only happens with the headphones that came with the Desire - my other headphones work fine.
Please let us know if you figure out a fix, I have a feeling that the headphone socket in mine is on its way out and will end up like yours sooner or later...
I cleaned the socket with alcohol and interdental brush...it is clean now...but the lower volume on the right side headphone is still there once in a while.
I tried also (as described before) several ROMs and several headphones/sets...I think the socket is beginning to age....hmmm...I will try for warranty claim since the warranty is still valid for the next 10 months...now...gotta unroot...

I've had a similar problem to this and I fixed it by first using a pin to bend the contacts slightly inward then using alcohol and a cotten bud to clean them.

Yes, it happens in most of the cases..
Check the earth wiring in your house, this is main cause for the touch screen issue..
But, It doesn't happen in other phones!!!

I'm really sorry, but I could recomend you only to return the mobile to SONY MOBILE or at the shop where you bought. I think that, in fact, there's no solution to solve this problem, sorry.

Here is the Reply:-
Earthing. Period.
Capacitive touchscreens (the prevalent form of touchscreens these days) are quite sensitive to electric charges. Without going to deep, let's just say that non-genuine or replacement chargers might often be of poor quality which might not take proper care of earthing of residual current, and things of that sort. These residual charges can make their way up to the sensor part of the touchscreen, where these are falsely recognised as touches.
Alternatively, one can also experience this phenomena of "ghost touches" on using genuine chargers as well if the earthing circuit of the building you live in is not proper. So, those who experience this on PC-USB charging as well, your building's earthing might be the culprit.
Though earthing requirement comes into play only when some charge is being leaked somewhere inside the device, this is fairly common, and a proper earthing is always recommended. It need not necessarily mean that your particular device faulty. You'll just have to take care of the earthing.
NOTE: This might be just ONE of MANY explanations. But I found this to be the usual cause.
Hope this helps.

But I live in Eastern Europe and my charger is with two pins - without pin for grounding or any physical possibility to touch it. Sorry, I do not want to mess with your good explanation, but for me it looks like something that "grounds" phone or touch panel itself is missing inside these phones. I can't remember exactly, but there was some mess with missing grounding by loose pin in HTC phones (unsure what model, maybe Desire S or EVO 3D). Probably this is a SoRRy's flaw in design.

HIT THANKS IF I HELPED YOU!!!
I got a Nexus 5 off a friend for a decent price because he dropped it and bent it up a bit. After giving it a quick look, the only thing that seemed damaged was the black little coax wire that connects the main board to the board on the bottom (Assuming it goes to the antenna), The end simply got bent off. This was an easy fix, replace the cable no worries. The real problem is when I went to go test the phone after I fixed the cable, it doesn't get any cellular signal (Wifi/BT still works), draws a crazy amount of power and the 'Qualcomm WTR1605L' chip specifically gets extremely hot, to the point of overheating in like 30 mins. Rather than tossing a bunch of money into replacement components (or getting another nexus 5 with a bad screen or something) I'd prefer to narrow down the problem to one specific component. This leads to my question:
Does anybody have any ideas to how I can further troubleshoot and diagnose this problem, or knows what the problem exactly is?
I have tried a few things, like if I flash the LG G2 radio (A trick I learned I could do with my Nexus 4/LGOG, after backing up my EFS just in case), Wifi and Bluetooth still work while Cellular, GPS and most of the other sensors do not. This stops the big power draw and overheating issue, but doesn't really do anything to further identify the problem component. I noticed that the modem image could be mounted as vfat and you can mess around with the various parts of the image. I don't know which files do what, so I have thus far left it alone.
I know this seems like an odd question to ask here, half the time I see responses like "Send it into Google/LG and have them fix it for you" but that isn't really applicable in my situation
Also, I know that my SIM is good, it works in my Nexus 4, I know that my ROM isn't a issue, because I have multirom installed and tried many different roms. The Radio image shouldn't be an issue because I had updated the phone from 4.4 to 4.4.4/L Preview since I got it (Using the google images and flashall script). IMEI/Whatever the ESN equivalent shouldn't be bad, my friend had been using it before he dropped it.
Thanks in advanced for any ideas, and sorry for the long and comprehensive almost to a fault thread.

Dropping a phone can sometimes cause invisible damage (like BGA solder joints failing). Visual inspection can only tell you so much.

I used to build small electronic projects when I was a kid. When something overheated like that, 90% of the time it was a short or a the wrong value of component. It's possible the drop caused the antenna connector to short out. Try disconnecting the antenna cable and try again with the stock radio firmware and see if the radio continues to overheat.
(I'm not sure how flashing the radio would prevent overheating, unless the original firmware simply turned up the transmit power in an effort to contact the tower, but that's my first guess and should an easy thing to eliminate).

Thanks for replying! When I get home I will give it a shot and see if it still overheats, then update this with my findings.
If it is overheating then it must hardware issue. Worst case is that the PBC board has a crack somewhere because of the bent. Grab the service manual from the general forum and start mesuring the components to find out where is the problem.

It seems to overheat with our without the antenna cables on the stock radio. I noticed that it still gets warmer than it should with the G2 radio, it just takes a lot longer.
That service manual is really comprehensive but unfortunately, it is going to take me some time to actually get to looking it over closely.
I recently changed the housing on my M8 to red and have been using the phone perfectly until I recently tried to use GPS and found it non functional. I have tried flashing sense roms which have always gotten a GPS lock right away no matter which version I was using at the time. I am running the latest Lollipop firmware and currently am on bliss CM12, however no matter what rom I try I always end up with no lock and no signal change when looking at GPS status or other application. Is the GPS module on this phone plugged in or physically attached to one of the main/daughter boards? It almost seems like either the new body is interfering or the GPS is unplugged(if that is possible). Any help here would be greatly appreciated as the only other thing I know to try is to purchase replacement speaker grills and try swapping back to the original housing.
Have a look at this thread. It may the answer for you.

That you SO MUCH, that sounds highly likely due to the tightness of the rear housing.
FIXED!!!! I can't thank you enough for that link. I found the "pin" broken off(sorta? it looks like it is held by placement rather than solder) ended up soldering a very short piece of wire to the small pad on the board so that it touches the case when closed. Booted up and GPS Status locked 12 Satellites immediately
