Currently running a extended battery and the Sky ICS rom 4.2 I have enabled the NFC and nothing happens. Is there any possibility my NFC chip could be not working?
Use the Q&A forum next time please, this thread will probably be moved there sooner or later.
How are you checking if NFC is working? It's working fine for me.

I apologize for not posting in the correct forum.
Im enabling the NFC under the Wireless and Networks menu. Android Beam says ready to transmit app content. I would basically have my phone touching another skyrocket and nothing happens. Is there another way to check it ?
If you can get a NFC tag you could test it. Also make sure both phones have OEM batteries, most bought batteries don't have the NFC antenna in them so NFC wont work.
And make sure android beam is enabled on both devices.

Didn't even realize the stock battery was that important lol. Gonna try to do it tomorrow with the stock battery.
I just tried using Android Beam on two Skyrockets running FL6 with Stock batteries. Unfortunately, it didn't work. In addition, I don't have access to an NFC Tag to test it. Has anyone experienced issues with NFC on the stock build of ICS?
It should work, make sure its set to on on both devices via settings>more>NFC.
NFC is turned off by default.
NFC and Android Beam are enabled on both devices, it just seems like neither one is detecting anything. Does anyone know of an NFC tester that can detect if two devices are in Beam range?
open browser on one, remove cases and hold them together in a cross shape, the beam function should pop up by then.

Being "in Beam range" shouldn't be a problem, because it's designed to work when the devices are touching back-to-back and not much farther than that. If NFC is enabled on both devices and they are properly situated back-to-back and it's still not working, you may have a bad battery or a ROM issue.
Oh ye I forgot to mention you must have stock battery, most replacement batteries don't have the antenna for NFC.
Thanks to aycockonxion for reminding me this fact.
Both have stock batteries - I made sure of this because I was aware of the NFC antenna inside them.
Has anyone actually TESTED it and confirms it sends data between two entirely stock FL6 Skyrockets?

I tested it with my Skyrocket while using CyanogenMod 9 and a coworker's Galaxy S3. When he would beam an image my phone would only show tag data. When I beamed a YouTube video it worked appropriately. I think there is some incompatibility between the S3 stock ROM and CyanogenMod.
I'm not talking about an S3 and a Skyrocket running CM9. I'm talking about two skyrockets running the stock ROM.
PS: The S3 uses NFC to establish a Bluetooth or Wi-Fi direct connection - it wouldn't work over Android Beam between an S3 and a non-S3 anyways.

When I run the stock ICS ATT ROM, my NFC works great. I have read tags, erased them, and written to them. Don't know of anyone else with NFC capabilities so I haven't tried the beam. Now if I could just get NFC to work in CM9.1

See, I have the exact inverse of that situation. I have two Skyrockets to test Android Beam on (unsuccessfully), but no NFC tags available for me to test.
Just buy a few tags its really cheap. Also probably 1 of your cards have NFC chip in them credit card or bus card, if NFC is working on the phone you should hear a sound while placing it near the back of an unlocked phone.

Again, I have no NFC tags or any method of buying them. And my (parents') credit cards are all non-NFC. I know NFC was originally made as an extension to RFID, would those be readable?
I tried to read a store RFID and it was a no go.
I'm guessing you have no credit card or paypal? If you do you can order a tag for less than a dollar.
The long awaited upgrade is here but with it come some bugs. I didn't try out the SOAK as it was too much hassle for me, but some reported bugs there already...and since Motorola didn't really care about these minor bugs, we have to live with them now in the final release.
Here is my idea: let's collect the bugs we experience and let's find solutions for it.
The most annoying thing I encouter is the always shown 3G symbol, even when I have no or jost slow network. Does someone know how to fix this?

Jelly bean works great for me, very fast and smooth.
I don't know about the 3g symbol, but if stays on 3g I like it, lol

I'm not sure that I've seen 1x yet, but otherwise my 3G indicator seems to work fine. It switches to 4G when applicable, and goes away entirely if I have no signal or enter a voice-only roaming area. Signal strength bars work properly too.
EDIT: I started with a clean install of the most recent 4.0.4 release and immediately upgraded to the JB soak with the OTA that was posted here. Maybe you've got something from a previous install that's borked the network indicator.

That means you are on CDMA/LTE networks? I performed the SIM Mod, maybe just GSM is messed up...? I read in another thread that someone had the same issue during the SOAK.
I wonder if a hard reset would fix the issue, but I am too lazy to try out...But the symbol is a bit annoying when I _know_ that there is no signal...

Oh yes, I missed that you are on GSM. I am indeed running on CDMA, unfortunately I don't have any experience with the GSM service on this phone.
I don't have any probs like that in CM10.1, using the radio proprietaries / firmware from stock JB. So it's somewhere inside Moto's Android code.
CDMA 1XA was added to the 3G standard awhile back so technically the 3G symbol is correct.

I have had the shift key issue with different apps and it seems to be app dependent, the two I notice most are irissi connect not and pro board app.

Lapdock 500
Just another noted JB bug
REMOVES ALL LAPDOCK FUNCTIONALITY
Reverted back to ICS Using RSD lite 6.1.5
to get around errors for:
Security
gpt_main0.bin
etc
remove lines with:
getvar
md5
OEM
Back to ICS and happy to be there

What lapdock functionality do you have in ICS? I thought all it did was HDMI mirroring and USB keyboard? I would think HDMI wouldn't distinguish between a lapdock monitor and a TV, is it just the USB OTG issue causing the keyboard not to work?
This jellybean fix also lowers the ring volume.....and notification volume....does anyone know how to bring back the volume to its normal state...

NO more HDMI mirroring at all. and limited USB functionality.
I used to use it along with the Linux chroot method as a "laptop" while im waiting for a true dual boot to be ported for android so I reverted back to ICS.

Check My previous post in this thread.
But you need to use Skill_Cz's FXZ files along with RSD lite to revert back and make sure to remove the three lines in my post which i cant edit to be more specific if you like
Use the Latest 6.1.5 version of RSD lite to do so
The brightness slider keeps randomly reverting back to the lowest setting in the JB build also.
While I can't say that I make use of the HDMI, that is pretty awful that they straight up removed a feature. Have we not yet reached the point that HDMI support is native to Android?

Also have issues with this. And I am having issues with not being notified at all. On Vibrate, messages don't vibrate. I can select 'Vibrate on notification' and it wil work, but also vibrates when volume is up which I do not want. When the volume is up all the way, notification is barely audible. Voicecall notifications/ringtones work fine.
But it's also weird because sometimes it works fine. Trying to figure it out.
Otherwise I'm ok with JB. It's running decently and Smartactions are actually triggering by location now hehe.

HDMI still works. I have a dock I use to watch movies on my home theater with, and it still works. I believe the poster was reporting that Lapdock doesn't work anymore, not HDMI.
My new problem: app2sd doesn't work, the new version of android doesn't appear to support it manually, and I'm out of space on internal storage. Seriously, do they not have regression tests?

JB. On my lapdock image is flattened, not on the entire screen, black lines on top and bottom. In ICS I not have this problem.

I've used this app Smart IR Remote on my phone to control different TV's, fans, A/C's without an issue.
Are you getting any error messages? Anything else we can use or know to help figure out your issue?

No errors & I just tried that and no luck. It's a Vizio TV which I'm testing on. I've tried on another Vizio TV and a Samsung one with no luck too. I know it works or at least worked on the Samsung TV but now it's not working at all on my Vizio TV and I doubt even the Samsung one. (havent tried samsung again yet) Also I put my S4 and M8 beside each other and tried using the same app to turn on my TV and where the M8 failed multiple times the S4 turned it on within half a second first try. I even took off my Otterbox case to try and see if it was somehow blocking it and it still wouldn't work. Could this be some sort of hardware problem or could it be software?

From what I've read, the IR port is the power button too. So make sure you are pointing that end at the tv. That Otterbox is quite bulky, so make sure the power button area flap is up while trying remotes out.
I don't think it would be a hardware issue if you are able to use the stock tv app to control the tv.
What ROM are you using?

I know and I did, still wouldn't work. I'm also having an issue getting 4G in areas where my friends can get it and their using Verizon too so maybe i have some type of firmware issue and I need to flash a stock RUU as suggested in my thread about that. I'll edit this or post again with the results whenever I try it.

Oops, I didn't see that you had a custom Rom. I'm guessing software issue now.
I'm also facing the same issue with Sprint m8, but my wife verizon m8 works with other apps too , I'm on stock ruu , not rooted, no s off , basically I'm on lollipop without any modification .

Hi all,
A while ago I had a Samsung and fell in love with their Peel smart remote.
However when you look for this remote on our LG g3 it says it's incompatible with our phone.
BUT...
I searched for the apk file, and i can confirm it is 100% working.
It's working so beautifully that its just like its build specially for our G3 devices.
So try it and i'm sure you will love it, cause it supports many more devices then Quick Remote.
Just a tip for anyone looking for the best IR experience.
Dont forget to hit thanks if this actually helped you
Some screenshots...
Thats great news.
Can you please share the APK?
Where can i download this?
A quick google search will show you where.. Dont know if its allowed to attach it to the post.
I also love this app and use it on my Galaxy Tab, I have been able to get on older version to load and work but not the IR. Please post the build you are using and a link to a download if you are so kind. Thanks,
Here you go: https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B3HUVRg--TNmYXphR1ZhQU9ONWc/edit?usp=docslist_api
Please note that even though the led doesnt flash when pressing a button, it IS actually sending an IR signal.
No luck...
Doesn't seem, to be working for me
No IR, tested with an IR camera. (Quick Remote works fine)
Thats strange. What model do you have and what rom are you using? Im on stock, d855

Please report if it IS working... I cant be the only one on d855 stock that got it working... Does anyone know if all the models have different IR chips?
Doesnt work for me...
LG G3 16GB Stock Lollipop V20H Rootet
Tested with an LG TV. Doenst match. The IR LED dont response...
I got it working! Running VZW G3 w/ SkyDragon LP rom
I was using cloudyg3 rom and it worked fine but when i flashed stock v20i rom it didnt work
Doesn't work for me. I'm on D850 stock lollipop rooted.
Looks like it maybe a ROM issue then.
Sent from outer space.
If your on a D850 it only works on Cloudy 2.2 I've tried them all. I actually like the stock remote pinned to notifications better as you can have it only present when connected to your home network. I also like Samsung's watchon also by Peel better and the IR also only works with Cloudy.
This remote sucks not only does it not work d855 stock 20h rooted but it also is full of spam and useless crap it wants to know your postcode... And it won't even start without picking a ****ty TV service which I don't have and won't let you GOTO next step without adding one then it will ask you your age and sex and also spam you with a bunch of TV shows you don't even want to watch or know about stay well away quick remote is so much better no spam no adds quick and easy
downloading will report back if it works or not
