[Q] Whatsapp issue with galaxy note - Galaxy Note 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My friend has recently bought a galaxy note 10.1 and he experienced this flickering problem with whatsapp and I have no idea what to do or how to help him. It looks like this:
- It only happens at a particular conversation and not every conversation
- steps that we have tried: clear app cache, clear google store cache, reboot phone, reinstall whatsapp. It never goes away.
does anyone have any idea what is going on and how to solve this? Thanks

can anyone explain why does this happen? Do I need to clear the system cache or something? (how to clear it in the first place?)

My messaging app keeps force closing on me about twice to three times a day. It makes it to were i have to power cycle my phone to get it to work again. Anyone else having a similar issue and how would I fix it? I am running the Infused 1.5 rom that's all the mods I have done to it. First, find the messaging app in manage applications and "clear data", and see if the FCs persist.
If you're still experiencing it on your phone, run "fix permissions" from recovery, clear dalvik cache (and regular cache), and reboot.
As for your wife's phone, I'm not sure what else I'd try on a stock device (aside from a normal reboot).

[Q] Unable to load stock SMS app.

I received a text and I went to view it and my phone froze, I locked and unlocked the screen and it unfroze, but when I tried to view the message, the thread just says loading and will not load any messages. This is the same for any thread of messages I try, but when looking at the messages at a glance I can see the preview of the most recent message, yet it wont load. I tried restarting the phone a few times, but the problem is still there. I can see the preview of the most recent message, but still cant view the thread. However, I can send messages and view the entire thread by downloading a third party app (Whatsapp in this case). Anybody able to shed any light on why this might be/possible solution?
I really hope to get out of this without restoring the phone...
Thanks!

Forgot to mention that I also tried this, did nothing.
But thanks for the input!
I've been searching and have only found one other thread about this problem. No answer on there either. I also have the problem where it doesn't notify me of new texts and the camera app crashing and not working till I restart the phone.
having same issue
I really wish there was more feedback on this issue because I just started having this problem today and this is the only thread I've found that addresses this topic. It started doing it out of nowhere. There was nothing that I could think of that I had done before this occurred that could have caused it. I'm tryin to avoid a factory reset. I have TiBu backups of everything but the fact is that this shouldn't be happening IMO. What should I do?

If you've tried clearing the app cache and data, I don't think there is much else you can do. Just bite the bullet and factory reset.

First off, thanks for your quick response. I did clear the app cache but the clear data was grayed out. I figured I would have to do a factory reset but I wanted to see if anybody had a resolution to this issue first before I did. Thanks again. Guess I'm bitin the bullet

[Q] Google Now widget gone missing disappeared

Running CM10.1.3 stable on Samsung Galaxy S3 I747 and when I woke up this morning my google now widget was gone, just the widget. not on my home screen anymore, nor is it in my widget drawer. Google Now works perfectly, there is just no widget anymore. I've tried clearing data for google search app, using titanium backup i've uninstalled it and reinstalled google search from play store. Nothing else on the phone seems to have disappeared or stopped functioning.
Anybody else had this issue or have any advice?
Thanks,
Stu

I do not own an S3, but many people seem to have encountered this issue on different phones. Some searching on Google showed that the best solution is to... reboot your phone . You may also try to clear your cache and Dalvik cache, even fix the permissions. The widget should come back.

yea I google searched before I posted. Rebooted, cleared system and dalvik cache, rolled the app back to "factory version" and cleared app data and cache. Still nothing.

I feared you'd say that. Isn't there anything else i could try before wiping my phone? And if there isn't any other option, could you please tell me the best soultion to back up the rest of my data (non rooted).

Reason why notifications stop working after a little

Some of us have it, some don't. This seems to be a NON Samsung device thing.
Right now what is happening is at first install Notifications DO NOT need ATNManager to forward them, they work just find with only gear manager. But after some time and a couple notifications (changes on case to case basis) notifications will just stop forwarding. Every now and then they will come back, if you're lucky.
I've been screwing around with ATNManager after finding a bug (posted here) and found that clearing the cache for the app fixed it. I could forward 1 notification before I had to reset cache on ATNManager.
I applied the same idea to the Gear Manager app (not Connection Manager or Gear2 or any of the other) and my notifications magically started working again. Both had a cache size of exactly 68.00kb.
I hear there is an australian Gear Manager that fixes this issue, but I can't install Samsung Apps to download actual updates so I can't install it to test. If someone can get that version of the Gear Manager can you please post the APK?
When I read the title of your post this morning, I thought "what the heck he's talking about?". That was after my notifications worked flawlessly for ~10 hours in a row. Then, a couple of hours later, they stopped. Now I understand exactly what you're talking about.
I did try clearing Gear Manager cache (and not Connection Manager or anything else this app installs). It didn't help.I didn't have ATNManager installed, as I didn't need it before. Should I try to start messing around with it?
EDITED:
I figured out rebooting the phone brings the notifications back. That's a good enough solution for me at this point of time...

Just reboot did the trick.
It's getting quiet here. For me a reboot doesn't always help. Clearing the Cache doesn't help as well. Sometimes there is actually no way to get the notifications working.

Hi. This won't help. Notifications stop whenever they want and there is no reliable way of reactivating them. Sometimes reconnecting within GearManager may help, sometimes rebooting the phone. Sometime nothing at all helps - even not clearing caches, etc.
