[Q] problems whit the update 4.5.629.en.us - Droid 2 Global General

well guys i have this issue my moto drois 2 global is rooted an has the system version 4.5.608.a956.verizon.en.us when i click settings-about phine-system update its tell me tha has and update of 19.25 mb to download so i downloaded but when its begain to install it shows and advertising sign and the rebooted when is up the system ahow sign the said the software update falied
so any ideas to solve that and have the update

your system needs to be complete stock
you will need to sbf to 2.3.3 and then take update or just use 2.3.4 ezsbf and root
once you update to 2.3.4 you can only root with magic md5 root for d2, d2g, dx, & dx2
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1-Oj1a1wNZKhZMPUqU_6KzzYzQJ2RKzvvumTx-41f3h4/edit
and you can not go back to 2.3.3 or older versions
Sent from my DROID X2 using xda premium

i was thinking to unroot the phone then make the update by the way what is sbf can you explain me more detail couse there are much in the links you present
i mean to get the last update for the motorola droid 2 global i will have to reintall all again

.SBF is a file used to flash motorola firmware to a device using
sbf_flash (linux/ezSBF) or
rsd lite (windows)
ezSBF .iso is burned to a disc, boots to a small version of linux on cd/ usb drive (no changes to pc)
you can try to unroot then take update
but most likely update will still fail
ezSBF is easiest option, for most
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1792608
Droid 2 Global root CD for .629
you will need to know how to boot to bootloader and android stock recovery

flashing the sbf file wont erarase anything in the phone?

flashing sbf, does not wipe data
but wiping data may be necessary, if phone bootloops
and is recommended to prevent a bootloop
most of the time, wiping is not necessary, but you should be prepared to
back up data before
data on sd card is safe from wipe
also there is little advantage, to updating to 2.3.4/ 4.5.629
---------- Post added at 05:52 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:45 PM ----------
if you want to stop update
Rename /system/app/BlurUpdater_VZW.apk to BlurUpdater_VZW.apk.bak.
Rename /system/app/BlurUpdater_VZW.odex to BlurUpdater_VZW.odex.bak.
wipe cache, reboot

ok let me get it

i got i just did this fisrt
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1437177
them after get the stock 2.3.3 an later updated to 2.3.4 then i rooted whit this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1792608

great
they are both in my list
---------- Post added at 12:52 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:48 PM ----------
and you could have save a couple of steps
by skipping 608 .sbf and just use the ezSBF and root for 4.5.629

[Q] help im going nuts

i have an infuse 4g that is rooted
downloaded modded e3 and installed but when i go through and change the old recovery and paste the new it dont show the old and the new files
then when i run cwm it down loads i go into reboot into recovery
it says failed to verify whole-file signature
signature verification failed
installation aborted
is this due to the two files not being there
or am i doing somthing wrong
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PkMo8rBehHg
follow those instructions exactly, making sure to adjust the permissions of the recovery file at the end.
download ROM manager, go to "flash clockworkmod recovery" and choose plain galaxys i9000.
then boot into recovery (probably blue), select reinstall packages 2 times, and you should be in green cwm recovery (if you boot into green the first time, ignore the reinstall packages step).
i did all that about 10 times still dont work i think i am missing somthing

Are you remembering to switch to R/W mode before tring to write the 3e recovery?
Try updating busybox.... Confirm you have system as r/w when replacing recovery....

i tryed everthing you guys said but still will not load packages and fails
could it be my phone that is causing this
Go here and download the "3e Recovery w/o signature verification"
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1091465
Replace your recovery with this one. Reboot into recovery. You'll still need to reinstall packages once or twice., but only only the first boot into recovery.
Did you extract the new recovery before pasting? I'm sure you did but figured id ask.

I realize this may be a little late, but make sure you have the newest version of root explorer installed if that's what you're using. I downloaded an old version for free from a friend of mine, and it wouldn't work correctly when it came to the copy/pasting of the recovery file part of the instructions. Downloaded the newest one from market and it all worked perfectly.

[Q] Unroot to update, without reflash ?

Hello,
I need some help with the transformer firmware upgrade. My tf is rooted, and therefor the update process fails with a orange ! android.I red that an unroot is absolutely nescessary in order to upgrade, but I am looking for a way to do it without refashing and then reinstalling everything. From what I understand both methods listed here: http://is.gd/nGRo5s implie a complete reinstall.
So,any way to get the update without re-installing anything ?
Thanks.
There is a way to flash the update without reinstalling everything, but you need to change your recovery.
A non-stock recovery will let you flash a modified OTA that will let you keep root. Or even better, just flash a rooted stock image.
Great !
Do you have a link to the modified recovery I should use and one to the modified FOTA ?
I assume I would be doing this using the update.zip function of the modded recovery ?
Thanks for the help !
Roach has a modded version of Clockworkmod
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1213723
I'm not sure anyone has posted a 8.6.5.13 rom yet.
Edit: the OTA will break root since it will flash a secure boot.img.
---------- Post added at 08:16 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:59 PM ----------
Actually, if you have the stock recovery, there will be a few extra steps to flash CWM.
You can 1) use nvflash and modify the commands so that it doesn't erase everything or 2) use terminal and flash the recovery through the staging partition.
Then, after you have a working recovery, you can modify the OTA to flash without breaking root or giving you a secure boot.img.
---------- Post added at 08:55 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:16 PM ----------
I think terminal will be easier since Roach packed up his recovery as a blob. What a guy!
1) download the zip file from Roach's thread
2) unzip it and you'll find a file called recoveryblob- save this to your external SD card
3) use adb or terminal and type
Code:
su
dd if=/Removable/MicroSD/recoveryblob of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p4
reboot
The last piece is zero-pee-four. Be sure to get this right or else you'll be gravely inconvenienced. Your TF will reboot and CWM ala Roach will flash. You'll see a turquoise progress bar and then your TF will reboot.
edit again: daoist posted this already http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1281161
once you have clockworkmod, go to his thread and flash via clockworkmod.
Happy Flashing!
Well, that's a precise answer ! I'll do the flah soon and will update this thread. Thanks for the help !

[Q] 4.3 Update + TWRP

So I have TWRP installed on my rooted Galaxy S3 (I535), and the 4.3 update just came out and was available to me.
I downloaded it, and tried to install it (I know that it will remove root), and when it finished downloading, it opened the TWRP boot menu.
Does anyone else who uses TWRP know how to install the new update? I couldn't find it and it wouldn't automatically install....

You kind of only have 2 options now. Attempt a "dirty" flash of a ROM so you can save your internal SD files then odin or do the full Odin wipe and forget about keeping the files. Either way unless anyone else has a idea you lose your current setup.

OK I'll explain what I think went bad.when you downloaded the update it was expecting factory stock recovery to finish the install. Since you had twrp it failed. FYI Odin is a program on the PC to communicate with the phone in download mode (Odin mode). try to do a factory reset before you go crazy with my other suggestions. I have a feeling one of the 3 options I gave you are your only options.

Yeah but you already soft bricked it. Any brick you do you should be able to fix. just so you know you backed yourself into a corner. No matter what you do you have a chance of bricking. Its all part of being a power user. If your uncomfortable with that after you are on 4.3 you might not want to root.

Yeah I know there's always the chance of bricking, just wanted to know if that specific thing would do it. I've been into rooting since my Droid 1, Droid 2, and Droid X. But I'm always cautious.
If I do a factory reset and back up all my data, will it get rid of odin and TWRP and everything? Then just install the 4.3 update and root using safe root? Would that work?

You would need to flash stock recovery completely replacing twrp. so if factory reset works and you can boot you should beable to flash stock recovery then redo the ota.

Factory reset deals with the rom. So no it will stay twrp.
---------- Post added at 05:45 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:40 PM ----------
Using Odin is a lot like SBF'ing on the droid x (that was my last phone also). So if you can remember installing cyanogen mod 6 or 7 you probably always did a factory reset before first boot. Custom recovery stays intact the only way to get rid of it was to flash stock recovery with terminal emulator or sbf back to pure stock. Luckily Odin let's us flash the recover by its self so we have more options with Samsung.

[ROM] SU4TL-44 100% Stock

SU4TL-44 Stock Image for XT1254: https://mega.nz/#!v4QWiITb!_0jWWzE4KWCEgT__C36rYe0vaTzGKcEFsZm0vvBtLBg
Flash with TWRP.
This package will flash every image in the SU4TL-44 firmware package except for recovery. It should bring your phone to almost 100% stock. The only image that is not included is the recovery image, because that would overwrite TWRP. If you need the stock recovery, revert to stock by following section 0 of my guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/droid-turbo/general/guide-how-to-unlock-bootloader-install-t3292684.
Yes, it does include modems.
No, it will not re-lock your bootloader.
No, it won't erase your data, but you should do a factory reset in TWRP after flashing this. You might be able to get away without it if you're coming from a modified stock rom, but if you leave out the factory reset after coming from a CM-based rom, you're gonna have a bad time.
Thanks to @firstEncounter for letting me incorporate his flashable zip into this package.
Will have to download this later. Looked to go back to stock and wait for mm to come out.

No it won't relock boot loader just installed it you will not be rooted and twrp will ask you if you want to root before reboot if you click no and want to at a later point just go back into boot loader by doing vol down power combo from power off and select open boot loader and when you click to reboot it will ask you again if you want to root then you can just slide to install

I've never tried to install an image via ADB before. Did you mount the image elsewhere and extract the system folder, and then ADB-pushed that? If not, your bootloop is probably because there's just a big, unextracted system.img on your system partition, and not the actual files within it. Why not just flash it with TWRP? When I tested it, I flashed it via TWRP and it worked.
If you really don't want to flash it via TWRP for some reason, you can extract the system.img from the zip and flash it using fastboot (fastboot flash system system.img).
EDIT: Oh wait, I think I understand now. You just used ADB to put the zip on your phone, and then you installed it with TWRP. Got it. Well my next question is why use ADB at all? Why not just plug in your phone while it's booted into TWRP and use the native MTP to transfer files?

I'm not entirely sure how to write a script to flash those in TWRP. For boot and system, it's easy because the devices that they are flashed to match the names used by fastboot. Bootloader and radio seem to be a little different though. When I list the contents of /dev/block/bootdevice/by-name, there is no "motoboot" or "radio," which is what fastboot uses when you flash these. I do see "aboot" and "modem," and I'm pretty sure those are the targets I'm looking for, but I don't want to go flashing things unless I'm 100% sure. Since there's not a huge demand for figuring that out, and boot + system is all people will need in 99% of cases, I'll leave them out. Thanks though!

Awesome! That's why we do this

I stupidly tried to install the new OTA while rooted

I saw a notification for a new system OTA and, without thinking, I downloaded and installed it even though I'm rooted.
So when the install starts, it just boots to TWRP. And every time I reboot back into system, it attempts to install the OTA again and just boots me back to TWRP.
Any help?

Are PURE stock and are certain you have the correct OTA zip file? Then sure... Start recovery, go to the menu and select Update via ADB, then on PC use 'adb sideload update.zip'
But to be honest, I don't think people capture the update zip or url on this device, so it probably isn't feasible.

Are PURE stock and are certain you have the correct OTA zip file? Then sure... Start recovery, go to the menu and select Update via ADB, then on PC use 'adb sideload update.zip'

My phone is rooted and unlocked and has TWRP. The update zip file file was automatically downloaded by Motorolas-androids OEM. System updates which I accepted. But as I can see from custom recovery it has a message about something like a pure signature to install even when I try manually. Thank you
