For some strange reason, I can't find my external sd card listed in Root Explorer. In my Note 5.3, it's under /sdcard/external_sd, but I don't see the external sd folder in my Note 10.1. I can find the card listed under settings>storage>sd card, and I can also use My Files app to locate the extSdCard, but I just can't locate it in Root Explorer! :crying:
This is so bizarre!
Check the MNT folder.

Thanks! Found it at long last. Wonder why it's not listed the same way as for my Note 5.3?

So I inserted my microsd 32 gig card. Settings see's it, but how do I access the card in the "My Files" app or in "File expert"? DOes the tab act in a way that it's combined space or something?

Thank you!
Search wasn't pulling up this link, well it was but thousands of other results as well!
Even though the file didn't work for me, the information did, so thank you very much. I just edited the file manually and rebooted to gain full access to the microsd.

I wish I had the balls to try this.
You should do... what's the point in having extra storage if you can't have direct access to it?
I would go stir crazy if I didn't have direct access to my 64GB microsdxc card
Wondering if it is possible to move files I currently have saved on an old SD card into the internal memory on the phone temporarily... to then move them off internal memory back to my normal SD card.
I'd like to accomplish this just using my phone and with out using a computer to transfer files, is it possible?
Yes, it is.
How so? Can you please provide further instruction?

Hi !
You can easely do that, providing your device is rooted, with either Root Explorer or ES Explorer... pushing files from SDcard to system.
Cheers !

Make sure you have enough space to accommodate all the files in /sdcard (e.g. df /data). You can use file explorer such as ES File Explorer to copy the files to internal storage. If you have non-rooted phone, you can copy to /data/local/tmp.

Remove stock notification, alarm and ringtone files, and replace them with my own. To me that would be neat.

I've been using Astro on my tf700t since I rooted it quite a while ago. Suddenly it will not see any files on SD card 1, which I assume is the external card. Tapping that link comes up "Empty." Everything else appears as usual. I installed another file manager and it sees the external card just fine, as does my desktop computer. I could just go with the other file manager but I like the Astro setup.
Any ideas what happened here? Thanks.

sdcard1 has always been empty. Your external cards are mounted in /Removable.

Thanks for the tip. I see the files there. But I'm sure they were under SD1 before, as they are on my Hisense Sero 7 pro with Astro. Nonetheless, I now know where to find them.

That is the multi-user thing in JB 4.2.1. Primary user's files are in 0, second user in 1
I cant write to the SD card.
I use ES File Explorer and I have created a folder on the SD using this app. I also permission and it is writeable.
So I ftp to that SD and it doesnt work.
I can ftp to my phone memory.
Then I copy the files to the SD and that doesnt work too.
I have format this SD using this phone.
Do you have this problem?
Having very similar issues but I thought that was because I encrypted my card. I can create a file in the root folder of the SD Card with Solid Explorer, but I can't delete it. The Samsung stock file manager works fine and can create/delete/move files anywhere, both internal and on SD.
I think those who get the phones early are beta testers for Samsung. We should be paid for reporting problems. I found 3 bugs already.
There is a half solution to this. I FTP using ES File Explorer to my phone storage, then move the files to the SD card storage using Samsung MyFiles.
It might be a ES File Explorer problem? Anyone knows?
Its marshmallow. Starting in 6.0 they changed the way sd cards have r/w access. Its a security thing. Dunno much about it. I say search it.

From your computer is you have adb, sdcard must be inserted.

ls /storage
Thank you in advance.

That's not going to work. GS7 is naming everyone's external SD card something different. For example, "D412-3A9A".
You have to go through the right APIv23 calls for prompting the user for SD card access.

Hi everyone,
I just installed an SD card in my S8+, and I cannot find it within root explorer. I keep reading on forums that the location is mnt/extsdcard, but there is no such directory... in fact, I can't find any directory with anything labeled extsdcard.
Android recognizes the SD card and I can access it and see it within settings, but I just can't find it in root explorer.
Can someone help me out?
Thanks!

I'm not rooted so it's not letting me access root dir. =/ Do I have to be rooted to access the SD card dir??
Some file viewers let you see root but not enter. But just look for mnt/sdcard

I found it... it's actually located in /storage/####-####
I'm not sure if this is new to Android 7.0... it doesn't make much sense, but that's where it is. Every SD card has its own unique [4 digit alphanumeric - 4 digit alphanumeric] signature.

Interesting. You learn something new every day! This phone replaced my Note 5, which didn't have external storage... and I had a Note 3 before that, which had the SD card in a completely different location.
