You simply can't. You have to do a full wipe than flash version 1.3.5

Above is correct. It's full Rom updates, just do a.full wipe and flash current version.
sent from HTC sensation, soff, 3.33 firmware, viper Rom, sense 4.1, mugen battery. please press thanks if I helped in anyway.

Using Viper 1.3.5 with Faux kernel fine for week or so now... great ROM, great battery life just run into issue recently:
1.) Message notifications from Handscent SMS dont always come through then when go into the app I realise 3/4 unread messages, same for FB notifications? (although I'm more inclined to think this is just the crap FB app itself )
Read somewhere it could be related to Screen Off frequency?
any advise be greatly appreciated...

InsertCoin v3.x.x ROM's are Sense 3.5. Sense 3.0 ROM's have been reported to be faster (smoother) than 3.5, but you should try it for yourself and see.
If you want the Sense 3.0 XE ROM with beats built-in, I recommend the ARHD v3.6.x ROM. Very fast!

Thanks for the info. I have decided to download Insert Coin Sense 2.3.5 Sense 3.5 v3.4.0 and try that. I know the basics of how to install a ROM but I don't know anything about super wipe. So since I have a insert coin ROM on I don't have to do a super wipe?
Do I just have to reboot into cwm make backup clear cache wipe delvic? Correct nothing else? And then install the ROM.
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using XDA App
You have to do a super wipe to avoid anything that will not be compatible with the new rom. I would recommend it coming from 3.0 to 3.5. In future upgrades, you can just wipe cache and davlik and see if everything is good. Get the CDT or ARHD super wipe and run it first then flash IC 3.0.4. Baads roms are fast and stable, ituns really good and has everything you mentioned.
Thanks . So to run a superwipe is it the same as installing a ROM? Move it to the sd card reboot into cwm and select it from the as card?

So I just installed the Rom I mentioned above. I didn't do a super wipe I just wiped deliv cache and all data and the Rom installed fine. It dosent have beats audio which sucks but it has sense 3.5 and runs really smooth maybe I will try a new Rom later that has beats audio.

the only time you need to do a full wipe is when updating to (or the new rom has) a new base, and if you're coming from a different cook as well. You should definitely super wipe if you're not on insertcoin and you want to flash it
Thanks

this. while flashing a new rom (insertcoin), it will also wipe your dalvik cache and something else, so no need to do anything there. you can, however, clear the sense cache, camera cache, etc. after you've already flashed the new rom and are browsing thru the phone's menus. to do that go to settings-applications-manage applications-all-find whatever you need to clean-clear data

[Q] What's ROM is better for you?

Good evening
I just read the new ViperSs 1.0 ROM and it looks awesome! I have ARHD 6.6.7 with faux kernel and HQ camera MOD, and I want to change to something new, maybe Sense 4.0 based on news HTC's or non-Sense ROM (Cyanogenmod or MIUI).
I like CyanogenMod, but there is no stable version yet.
MIUI has a spanish stable version based on v2.4.27.
ViperSs ROM have only one bug: HDMI out doesn't work, but it isn't a problem for me. ARHD and ViperSs are very similar in features, but ViperSs use bricked kernel. I didn't use it before, but it seems very good.
Is there another ROM with new features? What ROM you recommend me?
Thank you in advance!
I'm downloading ViperSs now at the moment ARHD 6.6.4 and I haven't used any other Rom in my Sensation, so is the moment to try another one

I think so. ARHD is a very stable ROM, but I want something new and I want it now! xD I'm waiting for your first impression of ViperSs =)
It all comes down to your personal
taste. I always liked the sense look and feel. I'm running the new Viper ROM right now and it is really fast.

Obligatory mention of MIUI. Now that certain websites are building for the Sensation from source, AOSP and Sense based, you get some serious performance and some really great software.
But that's only if you want to let go of Sense.

i agree its just to hard to let go of the htc camera and a couple widgets that cannot be matched on any other rom.
i prefer NonSense roms, caus i dont like sense, and rom is much smoother without it...
i like Asop but for me, battery life is not as good as on sense based roms...
just moved to viperss, after using arhd such a long time and i believe sense 4 is a little faster in applications however scrolling is very slow on all sense 4 roms, i tried elegancia, ordroid, insertcoin evolution and at the end viperss all have scrolling problem, maybe not a problem but i got used to scroll fast
Trying out viper now. So far amazing battery life and the viper tweaks are cool!

Thank you to all. I think I'll try ViperSs ROM and if I don't like it, I'll try non-Sense ROM like MIUI.
CM not is a stable ROM, that's true. My girlfriend has CM 7.2 and she has some important bugs...
I'll post my experiences with new ROMs! ;-)
Thank you again!

tray ORDROID 9.0 very stable and sense 4.0. bricked is one of the best kernels I have tested... so i recommend that combination... good luck!
I think you will be happy with viper.i know the battery life seemed better than ordroid . I'm actually quite shocked at how great the battery is on viper. Its always been a issue in the past now its great. Also haven't tried yet but wifi tethering is supposed to work. Only bug reported so far is HDMI output. I'm running now will try out tethering soon.

One question, What wipe I have to use to flash viperS ROM? SuperWipe of ARHD or wipe all data of 4EXT Recovery?
I suppose that the method is:
.- Backup old ROM, apps and SMS/contacts (personal information in general).
.- Reboot into recovery
.- Wipe all.
.- Install from SD card
END =)

The ViperS installer makes a full wipe at the beginning I think...let's see, when I changed from ARHD to ViperS I flashed "ARHD Super Wipe", then wipe all from 4ext, and then flashed the new rom btw I remember that those wipes deleted my games data (like N.O.V.A. or Asphalt downloaded data)...the "Android" folder one.

What's your setup?

Hello people of Sensations! I'm soon to be making my way to this phone in a couple of days as I am coming from LG G2x. (crappy phone ever) I've rooted and installed roms on this phone for my family, but that was during the GB days Now its ICS, and well so much has changed.
My question to the people of the Sensation Community is to know, well, whats your setup? Let me know by using the descriptions below:

Kernel: SebastianFM kernel
Radio: I dont remember exactly, but this is from latest 3.33 firmware
I use UV -100mV modified by myself, min 192MHz max 1.24MHz, screen off freq max 384MHz, very stable, usually get up to 18 hours with moderate use with screen on around 3hours 30mins.

Recovery: 4ext
ROM: Stock rooted HTC ICS ROM from the TMOUS 3.32.531.14 RUU. De-bloated and de-sensed with ROM Cleaner and Titanium Backup.
Kernel: Stock
Radio: 11.69A.3504.00U_11.23.3504.07_M2
I'm very happy with my current setup. Very stable, easy on battery, and is fast as I need it to be. I do miss the theming of beloved Elegancia, but I recently picked up ROM cooking as a learning hobby again, so this is where I am right now. I never would have run stock anything back on Gingerbread, but TMOUS finally did us right with our much delayed ICS release.
Whoaah! These are nice setups. I'm checking all these ROMs out too. I must say this will be a hard decision.
My signature too says
Fw: 3.33
Recovery: 4ext Touch
Rom: bruce's CM10 Kang 8/07
Kernel: Tamcore 3.0.39
Hi there! I'm using 4ext recovery as it has proven to be easy to use with many wonderful features! My Rom is lightning as it is very fast and stable. My kernel is bricked as I like it for battery life. My firmware is 3.33 the newest ics firmware. My radio is 11.76a 3504.00p_. Hope this helps you out and welcome to xda! Best wishes to you and your new device!

[Q] Elegancia 4.1 causes screen issue in HD

Hi, am a newbie...
after getting annoyed with the Vodafone stock ROM, I rooted my Sensation and installed Elegancia with Sense 4.1... I love it. No more crashes, much smoother flow, just much better.
There is one slightly annoying issue. When playing Uniwar HD, there appears a small top to bottom stripe on the screen that might vanish, when moving left or right. It seems the HD graphics are not working as propoerly as in the stock ROM. I have the Faux Kernel and took all the defaults. May this cause the error or is this a known problem of the Elegancia 4.1 in combo with the Sensation?
Thanks!

I've never had any problems like that. I use elegancia for pretty long time. Try reflashing rom or changing kernel. Is this happening only while playing this game or it happens while playing others also?

Thanks for answering do quickly. It is (for now) only happening in that specific game. If I reflash ROM I guess I can completely restore everything via Titanium Backup. To change the Kernel I need to reflash the ROM as well, right? If so, can I restore all system data, or will this crash the system in case the system datahas some kernel specifics?
You can flash kernel without wiping anything, just download zip and flash it via recovery.
It looks strange to me, because it only happens in one game...maybe try reinstaling it?

Is there any Kernel you would specifically recommend?
It depend on what you want... I use PYD-X, stable and fast. I tried many kernels and found out that my sensiation likes PYD the most
It all depends... The most popular is IMO sebastianFM -> faux -> bricked -> PYD-X

[Q] Which ideal kernel for Vipers 1.6.3 ?

Hi All,
I need your suggestion which best Kernel for ROM Vipers 1.6.3 except the default Kernel (Bricked)?
Currently I use the default kernel, but the wifi looks unstable (diconnected somestimes).
What I need are:
Stable and good performance kernel for daily purpose (no game used)
Better battery life
Previously I tried Sultan r17.5 but my HH has immediate reboot while got incoming call
HH: HTC Sensation XE
ROM: Vipers 1.6.3
HBOOT: 1.29.0000
Radio: 11.24A.3504.31_M
Locked Bootloader
S-OFF
You might want to change your setup. I've seen better performance compared to bricked with worthy battery trade-off.

I'm not disagreeing with you, but I was reading in the forums because I have 1.6.3 since their newer version, 3.0 or something doesn't have the camera, so it's a big turn off for me until that's fixed. But they said something about flashing another kernal over could brick the device for their ROM... or ruin it for that matter. I've been in bootloops and stuff before, so I'm curious... maybe that's just for their new version? I always stick with the default kernal because I'm still learning what half the stuff is. But if you can flash a kernal to 1.6.3 then I might give it a shot.

don't listen to that post
of course you can't flash a kernel from droid dna to sensation and surely you will damage the device
it was only a joke.nothing else
in vipers 3.0.1 you can only use pyramid ION kernel by sebastianFM
in vipers 1.6.3 you can use overclocked kernel 1.5.2 by sebastianfm or pyd-x kernel by axetilen or other kernels
edit:if you are S-ON use 4ext to flash kernel and before flashing enable smartflash
and a nandroid backup just in case before anything
Sultan Kernel

ahh okay, I see. Sorry I misread the original post, but thank you for the info.
Since I've flashed Vipers 1.6.3 the developers suggest me that use the Sultan Kernel... Daily the rom seems to be good, stable and smooth ..... except in wifi (sometimes) and with tethering/mobile hotspot (the phone or disconnect automatically the hotspot OR the phone reboots every 10-20 minutes)
With a reflash I gonna see if these problems get out!
Sultan Kernel RULES!!
u have the one which come with the rom u can find it in a folder in your sd called venom (after u flashed the rom of course)
or u can try Sultan kernel ... i am usingvit now it is pritty amazing

My phone is getting very buggy with Vipers 1.6.3 and I don't know why. I tried wiping caches but after 1 day it returns in a buggy state. Very slow to open apps and to switch from one to another. Maybe is a kernel problem? I'm using default (Bricked)

I have tried flash Sultan r17.5 but my phone got reboot while got incoming call.
Also tried to flash SebastianFM 1.5.2 but this kernel has no S2W
Try faux kernel. Its my favorite sense kernel.
Sent from my HTC Sensation using xda premium
I got reboots during phone call on sultan r17.5 (happens rarely but was unable to capture the last_kmsg) and on faux kernel (more frequent here)
I found sebs kernel is the most stablest of all but I'm a die hard fan of s2w (can't live without it)
And finally there is a kernel with sebs sources and s2w along with minimalistic changes.. It's the Grogg kernel 3.0
He recently opened a thread for it.. Do check it

I use faux and never had any problems. It's gives the best performance. Sultan kernel is good though it gives some glitches. Using faux 12u

I have noticed that with ViperS 1.6.3 you can get reboots on incoming calls when you use "auto brightness" or the "AOSP lock screen".
So try disabling them, wipe cache/dalkiv and see if the problem goes away (it did in my case).
