[Q] Exchange client without security policies? - General Questions and Answers

Is there a Email client I can download that will connect to our Exchange server and ignore the security policies?
I have tried the various utilities that remove the security, but apparently my midnight rom does not have a standard email.apk file for it to modify, and I don't know where to look to find the email utility.
I am willing to pay a few bucks to get full email functionality w/out all the security policy crap.

Provide isight on Exchange.

I've been wondering. Bear with me here. This might be a dumb question. If it is I'm sorry. Just keep in mind that from the outside in this whole exchange thing is tough to understand if one has never used it.
Once you have an exchange client app.
You still need an Exchange server correct? Who provides that? Are the companies providing the Exchange Client Apps also providing us with an Exchange Server?

Yeah, if you have an Exchange client like Outlook or Entourage, you can access a POP3 or IMAP4 mail server provided by most ISPs, but if you want Exchange facilities like calendaring, tasks, push e-mail etc. then you need access to an Exchange server - you can either buy a license and host it in-house on your own server or you can buy Exchange server hosting from a commercial hosting provider where you can rent a certain number of mailboxes (probably cheaper if you only want a few mailboxes, e.g. a small team).

Samsung Moment email.apk and Exchange Security

I've been approached by several people at my office who are looking to use the native 2.1 email.apk that come with their phones. Our mail team has security settings that require several things. I've got a samsung moment (rooted running 2.1) and when I set up my Email for Exchange I get a Security Policy Enforcement error on connecting. I'm currently using Moxier to sync my email so it obviously can be done. Any ideas on how I can move from Moxier to the embedded email client and still comply with my Exchange security policy?

[Q] Exchange Account

Hello,
first time Android user here. I know people in my company that use Android phones and I was told that anything over 2.1 would work for our exchange. When I try to set up the account, it tells me that the server requires security features the phone doesn't have. No one at my IT department, TMO support, Samsung Support, or anyone else could get it working. I know it has something to do with the password protection and remote wipe security that my companies exchange server requires. Can someone help me or will i have to go back to the blackberry ? I don't want to go back to that berry.
Try installing K9 and see if it works with your company's exchange system.

Touchdown works well with exchange as well (although it's not free). There is a free trial.
I was using touchdown untill android 2.2 came out then it started supporting remote wipe.

Once you setup your phone it should force you to password lock it from the home screen. Don't know what else they would require other than remote wipe in the event you left the company. I need to make sure I use ssl as well.
Could be a problem with the SSL cert
I use exchange with no problems on all my android projects.
I still have not gotten this to work. N1kkI6, that is exactly what i need on this. I would assume that 2.3 would have this if 2.2 has it right?
from the link you provided:
Exchange support
Improved security with the addition of numeric pin or alpha-numeric password options to unlock device. Exchange administrators can enforce password policy across devices.
Remote wipe: Exchange administrators can remotely reset the device to factory defaults to secure data in case device is lost or stolen.
Exchange Calendars are now supported in the Calendar application.
Auto-discovery: you just need to know your user-name and password to easily set up and sync an Exchange account (available for Exchange 2007 and higher).
Global Address Lists look-up is now available in the Email application, enabling users to auto-complete recipient names from the directory.

It should work fine. It could possibly be ssl certificate related, or maybe they don't have ActiveSync enabled on your account.. who knows. What sort of error do you get if any? I use Android on Exchange. Is it Exchange 2003/2007/2010?

Android Exchange/Office questions

Sorry for cross post, this is a more relevant section imo.
Hi guys
i'm thinking of throwing Android on my HD2 but before I do, I need to know if I can support a couple of things?
Can I support two exchange email accounts?
Will it pull sync ALL info including pictures of people from the server?
Are there any particular fields that are not supported, like the "Notes"?
Is there a Microsoft OneNote client?
I'm guessing there is no MS Zune client at the moment either? Does anyone know if there are any plans?
To support the above, do I need a specific version of Android?
Thanks!!!!
Our Exchange setup was just changed to support the enhanced security features and they just forced the "remote wipe" capability.
So everybody who was used to the stock client is shut out!
Google issued a patch for the same BUT to ENTERPRISE customers only!
googleenterprise dot blogspot dot com/2011/04/putting-android-to-work-for-your.html
What the hell was that about.
The stock android mail client was working for me a lot of the people and now it just gives some error about unable to connect.
Now if we need our corporate email we have to either buy the Commercial product:
TouchDown Email : $20
MoxiMail : $20
Enhanced Email : $10
OR compromise with the free clients which just does mail.
K-9 Mail works for most of the Motorola Droid phones.
I have a LG GT540 and it stopped after a day.
MailDroid works better on LG GT540 android phone. I have a rooted android 2.2 on GT540.
All the free mail clients are the basic exchange mail clients which can help you to read email and reply to email.
It does not have GAL (corporate addressbook Lookup). So you need to know the email address of the person to send email to.
Workaround: Corporate AddressBook
Looks up corporate addressbook and has search function.
After a few weeks use most of them switched to MailDroid which seems to be more stable.
Any of the genius out there who have been working on the ROM have been able to get the patch in so that the stock email client can work as it is supposed to work?
That was the core function most users use their phone for and now it does not work unless you pay up and buy a commercial product.
Help please
EVO 4G Exchange server
I have this work phone that I want to root but I don't want to mess up the ssl encryption. Will this happen if I root my phone. I don't want to go back to the IT Dept. to get it. The encryption is on my phone, but I can't see it. How do I save the encryption.

[Q] Which ROMs allow Bypassing Exchange Security

I'm using Embyo 7, like it, but no longer being supported or developed. It has a feature I need, that is, the ability in the ROM options to disable Microsoft Exchange security features that are imposed by my employer in order to get their Exchange email. I can now use the stock email client for my Exchange email, without having to put a PIN in each time, or risk it being wiped by the corporate IT department.
Any other ROM's support this feature?
All of them, just do a search for the modded apk, uninstall the email client from any ROM u flash and install the nodded one. Its what I did on beanstalk.
