IMPORTANT: There are SEVERAL ROMs out there that build on JRO03R and above sources. Some of these ROMs do contain these binaries, and some of these ROMs do not. The only ways to know for sure would be to compare the MD5 hashes of your binaries against these or ask the developer of your ROM if it includes these binaries.
VERY IMPORTANT: I am now adding the JZO54K binaries compiled for Android 4.1.2 - I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT THESE WILL DO IF YOU FLASH THEM ON 4.1 OR 4.1.1 and I am absolutely NOT responsible for any damage you may do with them. I provide them only as a tool, or for those who may have flashed the JRO03R binaries over JZO54K - YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED
This zip contains the JRO03R/JZO54K binary drivers (depending on which you download).
Included drivers:
* WiFi, Bluetooth, and GPS by Broadcom
* Touchscreen by ELAN
* Orientation sensor by InvenSense
* Graphics & CPU by nVidia
* DRM by Widevine
BEYOND THIS POINT, THERE BE DRAGONS - I am not responsible if you FUBAR your device, but if you follow my instructions, you won't. I've tested this zip on my n7 and my brother's, as well. No issues on either device.
Just put the zip in /sdcard, reboot into recovery and flash it. No need, AFAIK, to clear cache or dalvik, as these are the actual system binaries.
I've noticed faster GPS lock times, marginally better WiFi signal, marginally faster Bluetooth transfers, and considerably better touchscreen response. I haven't done anything to test graphics or DRM yet, but when I do, I'll get back to you.

They're just updated versions of the existing vendor-supplied binary drivers, there shouldn't be any interaction issues with other components. The only differences you should see will be in the components the drivers control (GPS, WiFi, Bluetooth, touchscreen, graphics, and DRM)

This is an AOSP-based build with extra contributions from many people which you can use without any type of Google applications. I found a link from some other project that can be used to restore the Google parts, which can be found below or elsewhere in the thread. I've still included the various hardware-specific code, which seems to be slowly being open-sourced anyway.

Thanks Kali!
Currently running RC2, and everything is working very well. Running the stock radio, and HSUPA is obviously working with a Speed test of 2.1 mbps up. The issues with the proximity sensor I had experienced with earlier nightlies has been cleared up as well. I have ran all day at 1401 MHZ, and battery life has been fine. The ROM feels smooth, and I just posted a Quadrant score of 2250, for those that are interested in that sort of thing.
I've ran every other ROM out there, including the new ones based on the leaked HTC Gingerbread build. No other ROM feels as smooth as CM on my Inspire.
I did do a full wipe (including Dalvik) before I installed RC 2, which may account for the complete absence of troubling issues. The only thing worth noting is that you need to reboot the system after the initial setup BEFORE you connect to wireless. Not everyone has reported this issue, but I have had to do this every time I run a fresh install of CM.
So flash Tom and Google addon. There is no sound or GPS fix needed, correct? Haven't flashed cm7 since #11 so was excited to see this post.
Sent from my Inspire 4G using XDA App
Yep - the audio/gps fix is already included in RC2. :-D
the dsp fix version 5 still requires you to run google voice dialer to initialise the fix, otherwise the command returns the aic3254 status ON. fix is still broken.

Version 5 no longer requires Google's voice search or voice dialer to be used once after every reboot to correctly initialize the fix

this is what i was referring to, and it is NOT true. you MUST still run the google voice dialer to initialize the fix, or it will still pull 200+ mA, and the dsp chip will NOT turn off. sorry for the confusion.

flashed, and with the screen being off most of the time in a little over an hour i went from full to 85%, thatsd a litttle too much so i will wait until a proper battery fix is released and then happily flash this again as i liked it alot
big deal breaker is no group sms or one that i can figure out. also deleting threads one at a time or delete all. no way to select which ones
wish there was calibration settings for the keyboard recognition and the g-sensor like the stock rom has.
After flashing this i cant seem to get a GPS lock It finds maybe 3 and thats it. Is there a fix for this? (Telus DHD)
This rom is great BUT, i cant mount my sd cards. Every time it tells me the sd card is damaged. I've tried 4 different cards. They all dont mount.
EDIT: I flashed back to Revolution and sd cards work fine so its definitely a ROM issue.

Wow, 3rd ICS for G1!!! Looks amazingly fast (for ICS), how did you do it? I'm assuming it's the hw acceleration. Where's the Dalvik cache stored, that was a big problem in terms of speed for previous ICS ROMs.
I now have a G2 (Desire Z) so will be able to test this in the near future + give feedback

Some of these sound like a kernel issue. What kernel are you using?
ezgb-1.5.3 ics
I don't think these are kernel issues, because it works fine on powerplop's base. Few of them should be fixed tonight.
My mind is blown!! Im trying this as soon as i get home and flash it to my G1. I wonder if, when HTC made the G1, they had the slightest idea that almost four years latter it would still be getting use and that more importantly it would have such advanced software forced into it and still run nicely.

Thank you so much, this is the best rom for this phone (the only working cyanogen). I am happy to report that after a few weeks use it has across the board improved my phones responsiveness, battery life, and usability. However... I have one problem. I live in Alaska and have GCI as a carrier... when I alter my cdma apn info, everything works up to the point I want to change my MCC and MNC... it's defaulting to 310 and 012 respectively. When I leave those values alone it saves the apn... when I alter them, the apn entry disappears! How can I fix this? I I need it to be 311 and 370 but can't get it to save my apn.
If this never works, I don't care, I wil continue using this rom without mobile internet or mms downloads... it's just that good.

APN backup and restore app worked for me on US Cellular (backup apn from stock install, then restore to CM7), though I had to switch to GoSMS as a messaging app for MMS to send properly (stock app would receive but not send MMS - SMS worked normally in both). I had no success manually entering the apn info - didn't seem to have any effect when I tried.
@JianC
I found an issue with the 20130121 version from Jan 21 you posted on 2fastroms: If the phone is left on the charger it will charge all the way up, then discharge all the way back to zero while still plugged in. It still displays that it is at 100%, but then abruptly drops to whatever the actual charge level is after a few minutes of use. I've tried wiping battery stats to no effect and it works properly in stock rom. This is the only bug I can't seem to work around... Any fix or suggestions for things to try would be most appreciated! Thanks again for your work on this ROM!
Fixed GPS (and other issues), please see OP!
EDIT: I'll look into the apns issue... I don't use my Merge on CDMA so it's a stab in the dark.

If any help with the kernel is needed I will try my best to free up some time and pitch in some help. I have made several kernels for several other devices and the most popular being for the Acer Iconia tablets here on XDA see my signature. Great to see a CM rom for the merge on here though!! GB works fine for me, not that much cool factor from cm 10 or cm 10.1 as I have compiled quiet a few nightlies for the A100.. Other than the Project Butter and the overall UI I could care less about JB/ICS.

Does it just boot loop or does it go black? does the CM logo appear? Guess there is no logcat output via adb either or you'd probably have nailed it by now. Maybe we will have to get jtag debugging output so we can see exactly what is causing the kernel panic and work from there.
I have just now had time to get on xda and check up on the new status. I will try to clone the git repository and check the kernel .config for the cm10 build. Just a thought but on most devices that have a working kernel with cm9 the exact same kernel + modules work fine with CM10. Have you all tried the kernel from CM9 that was just recently posted on any CM10 builds for the device? Not much has changed between ICS and JB that are dependent on in kernel features or that require bleeding edge mainline kernel and/or proprietary kernel patches. However there is a good possibility that the issue is more to do with the bootloader that is required to chainload the android OS for JB causing CM10 not to boot properly. So updating the bootloader may be necessary for JB/CM10 to boot properly. Nevertheless we need some debugging output in order to pinpoint what exactly is the problem going on. I am going to flash cm9 to my merge now and see how everything goes. I may experiment with the cm9 kernel and a cm10 build if I can find one for the merge. My hardware I have right now would take quiet some time to build JB as I haven't even used this old c2d laptop to build any android roms yet lol. Sorry for such a long posting but hopefully it is of some help in finding the resolution to the problems we have.
Thanks guys!

The .35 kernel works fine for CM10.0 but I'm having some issues booting cm10.1 with the .35 kernel because of some graphics memory allocation issues. The main issue is that there are a few issues that can't be fully fixed without the 3.0 kernel such as the camera/camcorder, ION support, etc (which is WIP here: http://review.evervolv.com/#/c/6609/ ). I have already tried probing for the UART TX/RX pins on the lexikon motherboard with a bus pirate but I have not found anything to date. I ordered a micro usb breakout board yesterday for USB UART debugging and am going to pick up some resistors from radioshack so we can hopefully get some progress on the 3.0 kernel because it won't boot far enough to adb or dmesg for our purposes. The problem isn't CM10 right now, but the kernel, which would require jtag or uart debugging, as you have mentioned. I hope that we can get the 3.0 kernel booting soon so we can have cm9/10 fully working.

This sounds about like the exact same issues that was experienced when I was helping hashcode work on the original kindle fire device and getting it to work with ICS. I 'think' with the HTC it shouldn't be near as hard to resolve the issue to get full hw acceleration, memory mappings camera/gps and all the extra bells and whistles if we make an attempt at backporting the necessary support into the .35 kernel instead of trying to upgrade * to 3.x which will be adding to the work and break more things than it fixes. Since HTC apparently isn't going to be releasing any updates for the device it looks like it is going to be left all up to us to make one of two decisions:
1) backporting kernel - only the few things remaining needed for our current working GB kernel to have full support for ICS/JB roms
OR
2) updating to 3.x.x and merging HTC fixes and 3rd party patches -through several mainline kernel patches and keeping the proprietary htc addins compatible.
My opinion/suggestion:
I'd think of the two options that backporting would be the most logical answer to the equation since we are only missing support for few things and you already have everything working except the camera, ION, BINDER(?), and other >=3.0.0 android patches. Plus the device is pretty well coming to a good place to say cease development work and either enjoy the device or upgrade to something newer. So if we could get JB support or even just ICS working fully I think 99.99% of all owners/users would be more than 99.99% happy!! I know I would be very happy myself!
Welcome to my thread for the Jiayu G3N, the new release of the G3 with the s501 chip.
I have ported GThrill ROM v3.0 to the G3N.
GThrill is based on Cyanogenmod 10. It is Jelly bean 4.1.2. There is currently no theme support, but I'll look into that in future builds.
Details of the GThrill ROM can be found here; http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2163707
This ROM should have all the features of the official ROM, (and more!) the only changes are behind-the-scenes.
Features
- based on "CM10"
- Jellybean 4.1.2
- system/framework zipaligned
- init.d support
- zipalign on the fly (script by Wes Garner)
- slim and light: removed unwanted apps
- host file (to block known ad servers/hosts)
- some build.prop tweaks from different sources
- contains some lines from V6 supercharger script (by zeppelinrox, particularly kernel tweaks)
- Jellybean Keyboard (SWIPE feature)
- Google Chrome browser (bundled stock browser FCs)
- Language: English, French, Chinese, German,
Confirmed working;
Bluetooth
Wifi
GPS
Yet to be tested;
FM Radio
Known bugs;
Front camera is dark and seems to take dark pictures. Setting the mode to night and then back again fixed this. Bizzarely, the front camera seems to be taking 3MP images although it only has a 2MP sensor. I am looking into this. It looks like the camera software has been ported from an Amoi N820, which has a 3MP front facing camera.
With regards to overclocking and undervolting, I have not heard of any kernels for any MT6577 devices that have offered this. And I'm sure better men than me have tried!
If there is another G3 ROM that you'd like to see ported, or improvements you'd like to see made on this ROM, leave comments below
If your language is not supported, install morelocale from the Play store. You can use it to select any language you wish!
Disclaimer: As with things XDA, you do all these things entirely at your own risk, I am not responsible EVEN IF Kim Jong Un flashes this, it breaks his G3N and in a fit of rage, he declares nuclear war on everyone.
Install instructions:
First, get root and install clockworkmod following the guide here; http://www.modaco.com/topic/359590-...very-ics-spell-check-fixed-jelly-bean-update/
Then place the zip file on your SD cart, boot into recovery and install!
Flashable zip, install via the recovery of your choice. Confirmed working on CWM. This is a full ROM, not a patch.
Remember to backup your files and previous ROM!
You shouldn't need to do a full wipe if going from a 4.1.2 ROM to this, but I recommend that you do. (I didn't )
If going from a 4.04 ROM to this, you MUST do a factory reset in CWM, otherwise it won't boot.
Please don't mirror my files!
Enjoy
EDIT 14/04/2013 Lolfisch v1.1 released!
Changelog;
-Numerous build.prop tweaks to improve browsing speeds, performance and to remove USB debugging icon (USB debugging can still be enabled in settings)
-Fixed LED wakelock issue. Deep sleep mode now works, improving battery life. (Thanks to evirus for his help)
-Fixed Clock app by replacing it with 4.2 clock. If you're still getting forced close's when trying to set an alarm, clear the app's data.
-Fixed Handcent SMS incompatibility
-Updated 4.2 keyboard using a Nexus 4 ROM. Runs smoother now.
-Updated Calendar app to the one from the play store. Now the app will update automatically as it is linked to the play store
Install instructions:
Flashable zip, install via the recovery of your choice. Confirmed working on CWM & TWRP recoveries. This is a full ROM, not a patch.

Glad to hear good feedback on the whole. I plan to replace the clock with the 4.2.2 clock at some point (I have university exams in just over a week but will do it straight after that
clock is not a biggie..you can always download Alarm Clock+, 100% better than stock..camera seems better than stock..must be placebo, but still..
EDIT: flashed this through TWRP..kinda sad to think that this one's too good, I don't think a rom could get smoother..oh yeah, Theme Support please!

Antutu v3.2.2 on this ROM: 5,500
Stock 4.0.4 G3N: 5,300
Lolfisch significantly smoother despite the 200 point difference..

It's possible to include Spanish translation to this ROM?
Thanks

Interesting, I got a score of 5659 on Antutu. Probably SD card write speeds, I guess.
I'm going to try and improve performance further by making sure V6 supercharger is implemented properly and porting thunderzap kernel if a jelly bean version is released.
The mt6577 has been reported as being overclockable to speeds of 1.4ghz. That would be an amazing performance boost! But we need source code for that, so it is quite unlikely.

what's thunderzap?
as for the scores, I got a class 4 microsd..
and for the kernel sources, we do have one for ICS..not quite why mediatek/jiayu haven't released them yet..
thanks for the rom, and Goodluck on the exams!
EDIT: Thudeezap is a custom kernel which allows OC and other tweaks, but ICS only..I wonder: OC ICS vs stock kernel JB, performance-wise, which is better?

Yeah, thunderzap is the thing you sent me, silly
I would definitely recommend Jelly Bean over ICS, even with overclock. The UI is nicer, you get Google Now, plus with project butter, you get better performance/battery drain. I'm loving this ROM's speed, plays HD videos with no lag . If you want it to run faster, you can chance the CPU governor to performance to ensure the phone is always running at max frequency. If you do, I'd recommend a tasker setup to change this when you turn the screen off. I'm currently running ondemand with screen on and powersave with screen off.

I'm not sure how kernels work but I'm pretty sure that the governor is not core specific. That's why you cant set core 1. However, I'm not sure if taker is having any effect on the CPU at all ATM!

tasker somehow works..I checked using CPU spy, frequency and governor are applied, but only one core works via SystemPanel app..so I still use tasker for "screen off" event, so I can have single core locked down at 250mhz when screen is off..

I'll try your rom next week. :good:
One strange thing (G3N, stock rom ics 4.0):
if I press/hold the VOL- button (+ the power button) I boot into "factory mode"
then, I can go up and down highlihting a few choices BUT can't select any, because only vol buttons seem to work
(no button seem to act as "enter" to activate the "selected" choice.
Any idea?
Thanks again!
How is battery life with your rom?
Are HD videos smoother in Jelly Bean?

You are allowed to report bugs only in this thread.
Grab a logcat right after the problem has occurred. (Please include at least a few pages of the log, not just the last few lines, unless you know what you're doing.)
If it is a random reboot, grab /proc/last_kmsg. (Do not bother getting a logcat unless you can get it just before the reboot. A logcat after a reboot is useless)

Testing now after a fresh install and so far all seems to be working. Even though I can't find an option for screen sensitivity settings, the default seems to be the same as extra high in CM10.1 which I'm very pleased about as I couldn't abide using anything less! Thanks very much for porting this @pawitp :thumbup:

Then that's beyond the scope of the changes in cm 10.1 and cm 10.2, and is probably a hardware issue.
First of all a big thanks for your work! It is great to see, that development hasn't died yet on the a700.
Until no I am on stock rom, because my tab is relatively new and 4.2 seemed to have some performance issues because of the additional bar at the top of the screen introduced in 4.2. Based on what I have read, the stock Rom is the one which feels most fluent, so I keeped it.
Now my questions is, how does 4.3 behave? On my Sensation 4.3 brought very noticeable improvements over 4.2.
I don't need multiuser support or any other functional feature 4.3 might have, I'd only like to know if this rom would improve the overall user experience which today is a bit laggy here and there (time until the keyboard is popping up etc.)
Thanks in advance
Martin
