i just got my device back from HTC and i forgot what i did to it. it says TAMPERED UNLOCKED at the top of recovery. it wont get past the HTC logo unless i go to HBOOT, any idea whats wrong? i tried installing the RUU but i dont know how to install it because the SD card wont mount and it keeps getting errors
To install RUU you need to lock the bootloader again.

First of all, sorry for my bad english
Today I bought a sensation with gb on it, unlocked bootloader and s-on.
i tried to get s-off, but i couldn't. so i tried to put ics without s-off. now with ics the phone is not start, it stay on htc logo. with gb it is bootloop. i already tried to put official gb on it, but i can't, becouse 'ERROR 155'. what should i do?
This is the Development section. Please ask a mod to move this to general. Also there are a ton of stickies available that deal with this. Please follow all directions next time when doing anything to your device. XDA isnt responsible in anyway for what may or may not happen with your device. Good luck and welcome to XDA
I will help in few

you tried to put official gb on it ...means i presume you tried to run the ruu
ERROR 155 corresponds to either connection issues/improper bootloader
to run the ruu..two things needed to be checked
1.if you got unlocked bootloader ..then relock it again
2.run the RUU from pc connecting the phone in fastboot mode (phone should read "fastboot usb")
Heres the deal
Flashed MIUI, and im getting an unmountable/unavailable SD card problem. Cant mount to my PC either.
I tried using the RUU to go back to stock, getting errors. Tried factory resetting via CWM, but its giving my SD card mount problems as well. Tried factory resetting via phone settings. Phone just reboots.
Im stuck here, and I have no idea what to do.
You need to relock bootloader to flash the RUU.

Yes do that. Also I had issues with some Ruus not working with some drivers, kept gettin error 150 or maybe 140... Anyway I changed adb drivers and it worked. Don't get frustrated just yet.. We'll get u back
Also what about partition sd card in CWM? Don't know if it's there, should be. If not, install twrp and partition sd card from there.

OP is apparently too busy bickering with HS students in his cross posted thread, to actually take our help and fix his phone (or to tell us that it worked):

If the phone otherwise works normally, that's nothing to worry about. I believe it's something that happens either when there's an internal HTC ENG HBOOT with S-OFF, or it might happen with unlocked bootloaders.

Phone works normally. No issues. Was able to unlock the bootloader, just can't get rooted or CWM flashed.
no one can help you unless you give the exact steps that you tried to flash recovery and root
there is a thread on this in dev section
are you s4 or s3

I followed two different processes to flash recovery and then root. First one step-by-step manual process, as instructed at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1583427
First time I tried this, I got the error after the bootloader was unlocked. Thinking I might have done something wrong I carefully followed the step by step procedure there. Again same issue. I see quite a few people there with the same issue, but actually no resolution seems to be getting... I tried to Google, as well.
Then I thought of using the all-in-one tool for HTC One S from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1705913
No luck again
I'm on S3..
I tried using Paul's CWM to get to the recovery, but got stuck everytime at at the Red Text Error. Unlocking bootloader was easily done.
Ok , thanks for info
S3 may be the issue. I am not familiar with the procedures for S3, you might google S3 rooting
Someone should come along that knows more about it to help--sorry
I don't want to give wrong info
But, either way you will need htc drivers installed and working, if you don't already adb/fastboot setup
You need a recovery made for S3, right now only TWRP

Hey... This actually worked. Many thanks!
yes ive read every thread possible..ive been at it for a good 3-4 hours trying to fix my phone.
i tried to flash the miui rom well its stuck at the bootloader. i dont know how to fastboot so i tried well its still not working.
my other problem is that the mtp driver wont install on my computer for some reason i dont even know how i even rooted in the first place.
2nd major problem was that i believe i did a fresh factory reset in the bootloader. so it doesnt show me any files at all.
im still unlocked.
what can i do?? ive been installing drivers left and right for it to show my device and everything, i tried a fastboot so i can flash the rom but nada.
im lost.
how to fix sd card

how to use fastboot

Well you couldn't have read every thread. Just kidding. First off Google HTC drivers. Or install HTC sync. Second in the boot loader what is your h boot? And you had to know how to use fast boot or else you couldn't get your token

If you read every thread, or even just the FAQ at the top of this forum, you would know that factory reset in bootloader corrupts the SD card.

This is normal. But there is a modified hboot version which doesn't show this. I can post a link to this tutorial but probably you won't need it. It's not that bad if it shows it to you there are worse things.

Boot into fastboot USB mode and type:
fastboot erase cache
If that doesn't help, try reflashing your recovery.
