No, you cannot change the radio frequencies through software.

[Q] Not Getting Network on a Particular SIM

This is by far the strangest problem I'm facing with my Nexus S
I've two SIM cards from two different networks. one is GSM 900 and anothe is GSM 1800
Both the SIMs are perfectly ok and functioning very well in my Nokia X2.
But one of the SIMs (GSM 900) is not getting any network in my Nexus S.
Interestingly I've been using this very SIM (GSM 900) in my nexus for last one month.
Just to give a background, I'm facing this problem when I flashed the latest 2.3.7 stock ROM.
I tried flashing other ROMs aswell...Currenyly I'm on MIUI...but no Luck ! And Yes, the Other SIM is working absolutely fine with my Nexus and fine with both the ROMS !
Please Help !
If I'm not mistaken I believe 2.3.7 is an update for nexus s 4g models only and not GSM. That is a very good chance as to why your network doesn't work.

But it was Getting network. And My other SIM is getting network in that OS.
BTW, I've flashed a different ROM (MIUI)....No luck with the new ROM...
frequency base band problems perhaps ?
Yes, its Reading 1800 SIMs but not 900 SIMS.
all what you said so far indicates that the problem was caused by the new binary.
it seems the hardware is working fine.
what is the software version of your phone?
download an official version of Nexus S and you'll be fine.
tell me what you see in the "about phone"
Android Version: 2.3.5
Baseband Version: I9020XXKD1
Currently I'm in MIUI. Searching for the official version of 2.3.4

2.3.7 is for the cdma nexus s 4g not a GSM model. Try reflashing the correct radios for your phone.

I've tried Flashing Radios. But Yet its the same scenario !
Getting network with a GSM 1800 sim. Not with GSM 900 SIM (Unfortunately this is my official number)
Can anyone suggest the exact stock ROM for my sns. I tried to search here in XDA, but not finding the exact one.
the sticker in back says my SNS model is GT-I9020
Some files may stuck in /system partition when you flash something, and good idea is to format /system from CWM recovery (you can find it under mounts and storage section) and flash rooted flash rom from here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1063664.
It's always a bad thing to flash something that is not meant for your device.
Formating /system before you flash stock rom. Hope that could fix your problem too, but I'm not sure . Just a suggestion ...

I've flashed this from Google
http://android.clients.google.com/p...206299fe6.signed-soju-ota-121341.da820629.zip
Now my about phone looks like this :
Androd Version : 2.3.6
Baseband: I9020AUCKF1
Build No. GRk39C
Yet, its not getting network.
Should I take it that I've lost my Nexus.
Thanks for you reply Tenhi.
I tried formating Everything ! and also Flashed the Stcok ROM (NSGSM-GRJ22-deodexed-KD1-rooted)
But no Luck.
Interestingly, today I found that the set is getting network in Some places, mostly where the network strength is very strong. And functioning very well with GSM 1900 carriers. But facing the problem with GSM 900 carriers only.
Isn't there anyway to get back to Factory Settings or something like this...?
Don't know what else to say. Apparently the NS4G 2.3.7 ROM changed something permanently, and you can't reverse it with flashing another ROM/Radio/Kernel. Unfortunately I don't have any more suggestions . Hope you will find a way to fix it ...
Yet to get a way to fix it.
Strange problem I'm in.
Now looking for a nandroid backup. (Downloading this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1059914)
Lets see whether it solve the problem or not.
At this point I'm loosing hope...

I had one Stock ROM backup (2.3.3). I flashed it today. Which updated the Radio to KB3 also.
But the problem persisted. Then I took the offcial update to 2.3.4 using the push update.
Yet the problem is not fixed. Not getting any clue on what happened !
I've tried two different operators who run GSM 900 and its not getting network with them.
But There is no problem with GSM 1800 operators. Its running smoothly with GSM 1800 SIM.
Alhamdulillah, the problem has been solved.
A OTA update to 2.3.6 has solved the problem for me.
First I flashed 2.3.3, just after flashing it prompted for a update to 2.3.4 and a day after it prompted for a update to 2.3.6.
Which eventually solved the problem
Thanks for your help guys.

[Q] Canadian BB for lgp925g

I rooted a rogers lg 3d , then removed some of the rogers apps and it bricked my phone into a reboot logo loop . I then flashed the king rom 3d 2.3 and i have my phone back , with no signal as i have old BB on the phone.
First question is , what baseband do I use for the lgp925g ? I have found the base bands but can not see one for north america .
Second question , Is there no 4G service on the replacement base bands ? Can i get 4g on it somehow ?
Third question is , I flashed the kind 3d 2.3 , is that rom for lgP920 or lgp295 and does it matter ?
Sorry guys for the questions , I did watch the noob video and LOL'd hard , then felt like a dirt bag for this post

[Q] Galaxy SII LTE Europe version; GT-I9210

Galaxy SII LTE is sold in a Europe version, GT-I9210.
Differences is in radio bands and ....
In Europe bands used :
GSM : 850 / 900 / 1,800 / 1,900 MHz
3G/HSPA+: 900 / 2,100 MHz
4G/LTE: 800 / 1800 / 2600 MHz
Will there be any problem flashing a ROM from this section ?
(I'm thinking of radio and .... )
Is there more than English/US language in ROM in this section ?
Is there /will it be any generic section for this Galaxy SII LTE phone ?
ROM for the 9210 -- will it work for us?
There is a custom rom in the thread below...not sure if it is compatable or if we can use the modem. Can a Dev take a look at it??

Is it a Custom ROM or official ?
But as you said: could modem/radio-part be used with other ROM.
And language part.
other question. Can we, which the T989/i727, flash the Galaxy SII LTE Radio ? and does anybody have the Galaxy s2 LTE Radio ?
Europe will get ICS before ?
Or I should just stay with EU versions for the time being.
ICS is now very soon to come in EU for i9210:
http://www.samsungmobilepress.com/2012/03/13/Samsung-Offers-Android-4.0-Ice-Cream-Sandwich-Upgrade-for-GALAXY-S-II
and I read on
http://androidcommunity.com/official-samsung-galaxy-s-ii-ics-update-begins-in-europe-and-south-korea-20120313/
that US versions of ICS can eventually take some time for Galaxy S2 LTE.
But question about a generic (or EU ) forum for Galaxy S2 LTE (i9210) still remain.

I'm inclined to believe that it will with tweaks, some big tweaks but smaller than re-building from scratch.
If I had a spare phone, I would totally try it and brick this one without caring :-\

For posterity, the Skyrocket/I727 ROMs posted above will not work. You will lose the 2 touchbutton functionality on the I9210. The I9210 has 2 touchbuttons and 1 physical button. I believe the Skyrocket has only touchbuttons.
Is the chipset and CPU in the euro version are the same as in at&t SR ? if yes , most likely flashing would work , if not then not possible
PS : According to this link :
http://www.thephonedatabase.com/Samsung_Galaxy_S_II_LTE_780_Cell_Phone
the cpu and chipset are the exynos in the europe version so it's a totally different device , even radio I think 99% will not be compatible between the att and the europe version(might hard brick or corrupt efs)
If it uses the APQ8060 then it will be really similar in specs but different chip model from the Skyrocket.

so i sucessfully got ics running on my gt-i9210 (Portugal) with that nightly rom on cm9 for skyrocket.
There was indeed the problem with the softkeys, but i solved that updating the touch keys to an older version.
So far the rom is nice, i'm wondering if anyone tried another ics rom for this device and looking for some feedback
thanks in advance

[q] using skyrocket in asia

Hi there, i'd like to ask about using skyrocket out of its own carrier.
i'm planning to buy unlocked AT&T Skyrocket from a friend.i was just impressed with this phone. such a great specification.
the problem is i live in Indonesia . will the phone back to Locked with carrier after upgrading the ROM? or is it unlocked permanently?
and will it be a Radio issues? i need someone to give an explanation coz it's rarely used here in Indonesia.
Thanks all....
no it will no relock after u flash a rom, once its unlocked, is permanent. Just find out what GSM frequency your carrier supports/uses and if the skyrocket can use that frequency. I don't see this being a problem though seeing how the skyrocket has a pentaband radio.
Short answer, it will work!

Solution for AT&T HTC ONE X Signal Dropping Issue / cellular network problem / data
Hi guys am new to this forum and English is not my native language .
I dont know whether this is a proper section to post this kind of thread .
If this is in wrong section I request MODS to shift it to appropriate section .
This worked only for my AT&T HTC ONE X version , and its 100% confirmed .
I was searching for this solution from almost 3 weeks on XDA , and found that am not the only one . Many were having this problem .
Just update it to latest available firmware 4.0.4 which got released on 2-AUG-2012 .
My both cellphones which were unlocked and was on other networks . Was giving frequent signal drops , fluctuation , going complete DEAD
I flashed many radios and even the latest radio which was in 4.0.4 didnt work .
So I came into conclusion that flashing radio wont solve this problem , its only myth .
For updating/restoring it to latest 4.0.4 , Your phone bootloader should be locked . No problem if its rooted .
===========================================
1) Online update through phone itself
goto settings > AT&T software update > Check for updates
and follow the easy instructions .
===========================================
2) Manual update through computer
Make sure u have downloaded the HTC SYNC MANAGER and required HTC Drivers
http://www.htc.com/www/software/htc-sync-manager/
The below file size is 568MB , and its a executable .exe file .
After downloading open the file and follow the instructions . 30-35% battery is necessary to flash the ROM
Firmware official link:
LINK 1 : http://dl3.htc.com/application/htc_one_x_RUU_2.20.502.7_att_us_08022012.exe
LINK 2 : http://www.htc.com/us/support/htc-one-x-att/software-updates
===========================================
Now my both phones are working properly
===========================================
Am not responsible if anything happens during this process with your phone .

I'm gonna try. Getting no LTE signal at home so total useless 4G LTE... I only get HSPA+

Agreed basically the OP is telling us to go back to stock OEM version of the OS.
2nd why are you posting this in the dev board?
It would be better to be in the Q&A section.
I haven't seen this as a widespread issue at all and certainly not one that I have experienced.
I can tell you that here in the Phoenix area that I get great reception, fantastic LTE speeds, and I am running the Telstra radio 223 with the stock new rom, unlocked and Boot loader unlocked

What am trying to tell is , if signal issue is there with the phone and even after installing rom and flashing radios wont solve the issue . This the trick to make it work .
Mods kindly dont delete this , please move it to a correct location .
Many are still having this problem in there cellphone , I personally had two faulty phones
Mine also 900$ was stuck as phone were useless , its horrible if there is no network in the phone .

Don't forget that if you don't have superCID when you do this, you will lose the ability to root until a root exploit for 2.20 is released.
Even i am having the same problem, i have download the ruu but my doubt is i have super cid111111 on my phone, so will ruu work perfectly or do i have to revert it back to stock cid? If yes then what is the procedure to revert back the stock cid?

Super cid allows you to flash any ruu as long as it is not a lower version ruu and hboot than you currently have. You should be warned that flashing the 2.20 ruu with the updated hboot will break the ability to flash boot.img radios and kernels from recovery. You will have to use fastboot from your pc to flash them.

I have had this problem for probably about 6months now, it's ridiculous. I have tried everything, Factory Reset, flashing stock RUU, everything, wipes, radios and custom ROMs, nothing seemed to work. When I flashed RUU, I think it was ok for a little while, but as time went on, I got more and more signal drops.
When I first read triksense's comment, I thought he had no idea what he was talking about, maybe he just had poor reception. Regardless, I was willing to try anything, so i installed the free version of Network Signal Booster from the Market. It has been 2 days now, and I have not had a single signal drop since running this app. It would be nice to not require a 3rd party app installed to make my phone run smoothly, especially an app that I don't really know what it is doing exactly.
Anyways, to anyone with this issue (are there really not more? Did they just give up and go to Samsung?), I am the second person now that can recommend this app, Network Speed Booster from the Market, to fix the signal drop issues.
Thanks for the suggestion triksense!
