i just flashed cm9 on my galaxy s 4g and the data is not working? it keeps doing it everytime i boot up i try messing with the settings i take the sim card out and put it back in to try that still nothing?
what can i do would i have to reflash or try a different rom?
Check if your IMEI is still alive.
If it is re-download CM9, re-flash CM9 (while following instructions of course), don't forget to wipe cache, dalvik and fix permissions.
If it doesn't solve you're problem, flash back to stock.
If your IMEI is dead, restore a backup, if you don't have one I'm sorry you're out of luck.
If IMEI is still alive and you re-downloaded CM9 (from a computer of course) and the problem still persists catch a aLogCat log and send it to the CM9 Q&A or development thread.

Sorry if this has already been posted.
My phone is rooted on stock rom.
It started freezing up and wouldnt send text messages. GO sms locked me out. I had to take the battery out and restart several times. Now i cant connect to any wifi. In wifi settings it just says error. Any ideas what could be wrong?
your best bet is probably to flash back to stock OS...i dunno if there is a one click for inspire
or you could flash a rom :]...this was probably a weird glitch that would go away with a simple full flash
Why not start with doing a factory reset?
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA Premium App
I think he already did that, but if that doesn't work, try restoring your entire phone to stock...idk if there is a one click Odin for inspire like there is for Galaxy S models
Thats what I was thinking about doing. Will try that this weekend when I have time. Thanks!

There's a guide stickied to this section that believe has the link to the RUU, which is what you might try, though I think going the RUU route will unroot you.

Full wipe reflash should do it.

yep I would try wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache, wipe delvik cache and a clean install of the rom
Flashed CoreDroid didnt fix the problem
would flashing a new radio fix the problem?
Did you have any luck with this? Im having the same issue and debating whether or not I should flash back to stock to see if this resolves the issue. I have flashed countless ROMs since root with no luck.
My phone is doing the same thing. Not sure when it started doing it since I don't use wifi often. I wanted to check for updates and the HTC one requires WIFI be on, thats how I found out.
My phone is completely stock, with only Apps installed. Factory reset made it say something about connecting for 10 seconds or so before saying error, and now once again it just says error every time i try to enable it.
I flashed CM9 on my tablet (the one in the developer section) and have since moved back to ICS. However, after moving back to ICS (restoring backup), my wifi doesn't work. If I go to WiFi in settings it says "Turning wi-fi on..." and never does turn on. I've tried clearing out the cache/dalvik cache and using superwipe to get rid of it, but it still didn't do anything? Has anyone else run into this situation or have suggestions for possible fixes?

Same happened to me after trying out CM9 and going back to stock ROM via nandroid restore. All the symptoms was just like yours. Did all the same thing like wipe cache, dalvik cache ect.
Finally I just flashed the ICS rooted ROM I was using again without wipe and it worked again. No lost of data since I didn't wipe.
I have had a similar issue. Every now and then (particularly at home with my wireless) I am able to see the connection but not connect to it. I have tried turning wifi off and on, rebooting the tablet, the only thing that works is unplugging the router and plugging it in. It has only happened since ICS and once I plug the router in it connects......

I will give this a shot when I get back home. Thanks for the reply.
Okay, I am having this problem every time I leave and come home. I cannot connect (in Wifi it shows the network and shows that it is saved with Webkey, but I cannot connect). I have to unplug the router each time.......

That seems to have worked. Thanks a lot... I owe you one. If you're ever in Edmonton, AB, PM me and i'll buy you a beer
After flashing hellfire ICS I wasnt able to recieve any texts. I then flashed Hellfire cm7 and still same issue, also tried eaglesblood. I then tried getril, it wasnt matching but updating it didnt do anything. Now I just flashed 2.3.3 and text is working but I have no data. With every flash I wiped everything and used g2x scrubber. Also I tried using different APN...What can I do to fix this?
So, you reverted to a non 4.0.3 rom and the issue still persist, like a GB 2.3.7 rom?

yea
Yea, last night I flashed a eaglesblood over 2.3.3, this time manualy wiping and not using scrubber..and it worked, I was able to use data and recieve texts. But now it just stopped working and I am unable to recieve texts again. I have fixed permissions, cleared caches, and tried all the RIL in getril. Why would it randomly stop working??? this is so annoying
..BTW i restored only a few apps with titanium and did not restore any of the data, just apps.

Maybe try flashing a new baseband and then going into your apn list and restoring default apns.
Could possibly be a sim card problem or sim card reader hardware issue... dont wanna jump to the worst possible scenario tho..
I have the jul 15 baseband, isnt that the latest? Idk if it would be hardware since everything was good before I flashed ics .
When you flash, are you wiping data, cache, dalvik cache, and system before flashing?
Yea, I wipe data, cache, dalvik, then format system, then flash rom which is on root of sd card.
Is there anything else I can delete/format when installing a rom? What data is being retained that I have this issue with every rom?
update: Just flashed bionix 2.3.3 rom with stock kernel and everything is working, its like it works only when it wants to..ill try a cm7 rom again later.
you aren't the first to report the same exact thing... I'm waiting for jboxer or another dev to say something... it might have something to do with T-Mobile or your SIM... have you tried entering your number manually... have you tried without data connected or on wifi?
Didn't hear the mention of g2x scrubber always a good thing...

Something I would do would be to...
Download Rom/Gapps
Unzip to make sure it's complete and uncorrupted DL
CWM Recovery
Wipe Data/Cache/System/Davlik/BattStats
G2xScrubber (In case)
Install Rom
Install Gapps
Wipe Cache/Davlik/BattStats
Fix Permissions
Boot let it sit quick..
Hard Reboot (Power + Volume Up)
Edit: For some ICS Roms sometimes you have to enable data or toggle it on/off for it to work.
ok

I wanted to post this in the BAKED thread in the developer section but I don't have enough poststo do it there, so hopefully someone here can help.
I just flashed crespo BlackBean 7 (BAKED) ROM (on my Nexus S) and inverted gapps. It seems to have installed properly but whenever I reboot I get a message that several processes have stopped such as YouTube and GMail, and when I go in to system settings -> storage I get a message saying "Unfortunately, Settings has stopped". I get that message every time consistently. I've tried re-flashing the ROM but to no avail. When I installed the ROM I wiped "Dalvik cache", wiped "Battery Stats" and wiped "Cache partition".
It appears I've not done something or done something wrong, so if anyone here can help I'd appreciate it.
Did you full wipe before installing the rom? That means factory reset/data wipe.

I did not do a factory wipe because the last time I did that I lost everything, even after using Titanium backup to back up all my apps first. When I tried to restore there was nothing there to restore. Is there a way to use Titanium backup so that after doing a full wipe I can still get my stuff back?

So I bit the bullet and did a full factory wipe, but I still get the "Unfortunately settings has stopped" error showing up. I wonder if it's a bug in the ROM.

Storage settings fc is a bug in the ROM. It will be fixed in the next version. You should not get fc for any other settings. Back to kill is faster than normal. Everything else works fine on bb7.

Thank you!
I saw the back to kill thing, someone else had mentioned it on the BAKED thread too. Thanks for the info on the fc.
I got another problem though, that made me revert to my previous ROM. I was about to put my phone away for the night and decided to do one more reboot, but it never went past the BAKED splash screen. Even after pulling the battery it wouldn't boot. Is this a known bug too? Or did something happen to my machine? After booting to recovery and re-installing my previous ROM, everything seems to be fine.
Any thoughts?

There isn't any boot issue with the ROM. If you decide to try this ROM again, try to do a clean install.
Boot into recovery, do a factory wipe, go to advanced & wipe dalvik cache, go to mounts & format /systems. Flash ROM & gapps, reboot.

I have not seen any other users with the same issue. It seems very possible that something went wrong during the install. First of all, verify the MD5SUM of the ROM you downloaded to make sure it is not corrupt. If it is, redownload it, then wipe and reflash.
Did you wipe data & system before installing the ROM? While you do not need to wipe the sdcard portion of data, everything else needs to wiped when changing ROMS or major Android versions. Make sure you did this, if not try reflashing after a proper wipe.
Have you flashed anything else after the wipe, such as a kernel? If so try wiping then reflashing the ROM without anything extra.

While you might not have seen an error message, something could have still gone wrong. As a programmer myself, I can attest that it is impossible to detect every error. A zany example: solar flares can cause errors, corrupt data, and even crash applications in spectacular ways.
Definitely start with the MD5 check as that is a fairly common issue. Just today I had one fail to match up. If it matches, reflash, if not redownload then reflash.
