My Dad needed a cheap and cheerful dual sim Android phone so I'm picking him up an FG8 (Fly Ying) for cheap.
Can anyone direct me to the latest and best stable rom for him? Also instructions on how to install it and what it offers if possible.
He won't be installing much on it, it just needs to be stable really.
Thanks
My advice would be, before buying phone try to search through forum to see if that phone is supported by community.
Chinese phones can be cheap but most of them even if they have android installed can be real mess.
Xda community doesn't support whole variations of androids.
So, before buying try to see what choices of Chinese phones are supported and have live development on xda

I wonder how Samsung or HTC feel about this?
It's a shame that massive buy-out to allowing innovation.
Fun-fact: The only manufacturer with more patents is MS, to my understanding.

As long as Android development remains open it should be fine - but if that becomes more and more Google-Motorola oriented, HTC and Samsung might have to find som other OS for their mobiles. But would Google want that ? Probably not.

Sorry for the way I posted the link; new member. *Technically.*
Apparently somebody is offering a reward for Android on the Vita. o.o
I personally don't understand why nobody's done it yet...
It's a relatively inexpensive device, compared to the $500 Android phones that are out of contract, and it's more powerful to boot anyway.
I'd figure developers would love to turn the 3G model into a phone.

I said the same thing.
For one, I don't understand why it doesn't have Android pre-installed since, you know, the Xperia Play does. *-.-* Doesn't Sony realize it would only help them?
and for two, like I already said, I don't understand why the developers haven't even squeaked about it. o_o
Hey everyone-
I recently purchased a Nokia N9 off of Ebay on a, in retrospect, misguided whim. I love the UI of the phone and how seamlessly the device allows me to switch from one app to another. However, despite my love for the phone, I still find myself missing Android and its ecosystem (I owned a Samsung Vibrant for a few years prior to this phone). Even though the N9 does the few core things I normally do on a daily basis really well, it's still missing of the basic apps I used to rely on for daily use; i.e. Tumblr, Instagram, Ebay, and Amason. So I decided to sell the N9 on Ebay but now I'm pondering which phone I should buy next. I probably want to stick with Android, but I'm not sure which device to go with. I'm leaning towards either the HTC One X or the Samsung Galaxy Nexus, however, I'm certainly open to other suggestions. I'm certain I don't wanna go with Galaxy S III because I hate the Touchwiz skin. If anyone out there has any suggestions for me I'm more than willing to hear them. Thanks.
-Sincerely, bobofosho123
P.S. I know for a fact that I'm not looking for anything with a contract, and I know I'll buy it without one since I'm on a grandfathered T-mobile plan.
Nexus all the way bud. Always up to date and great community support!

Hi guys, I am in the process of bringing an Android tablet to market and unlike other OEMs I really want to do it right which means partnering with the Android community from the very beginning. What advice can you guys give me to make the best Android experience? What would you say is the perfect size and what is the best way to keep the newest version of pure Android running on it?
Well for starters, make sure the company puts out updates! Many companies will put out an update or two and then abandon the tablet. In the fast moving world of Android, putting out updates that keep up with the current version will keep the device alive and it won't become stale as quick. I know you might have already known that but I just wanted to repeat it. All you need is a good dev that knows the ins and outs of Linux/Android

Well, I myself prefer updates, open-sourced ROMs, unlocked bootloader and root/flash/all-in-one tools.
Ex. Verizon, AT&T...
only thing I can possibly think of is for some reason they'd get into legal trouble because they create the os that most phones in the US run on.

i think it would fall into the place of what happened when goggle bought Motorola, Everyone (Samsung HTC etc..) thought since they were bought by Google that they were the "Favorite" and Samsung started to make android less android, (good example would be the Samsung galaxy notePRO 12.1) in response Google knew they screwed up and sold Motorola to Lenovo. i think this sorta thing would happen and instead of manufacturing android phones, others would try to get like Bada OS and Firefox OS phones.
Personally, I think Google did not screw up when it bought Motorola. What they are really after is Motorola's "Project Ara," that involves the development of Modular Smartphones, which is seen by many as the future of smartphones. All other assets of Motorola did not interest Google and they sold it to Lenovo, but retained only Project Ara.

I don't think they screwed up either, I think they screwed up with selling Motorola though. Honestly Motorola phones where pretty ugly and Google changed them quite a bit. The moto g was heir most successful/most sold phone they have ever had I wish they could have played around with them some more before selling them to lenovo Motorola was having a bad time and Google just gave them a boost I guess, So nice of them.

Google runs on nothing but ads folks. Everything else is just a way to funk around.
