Hi, Need some help. I've unlocked my bootloader through HTC DEV. Everything went well. Now when installing ClockworkMod Recovery I installed the wrong one. I used the one for the HTC One phone. I tried this one, fastboot flash recovery recovery-clockwork-touch-5.8.3.1-ville.img and this one, fastboot flash recovery openrecovery-twrp-2.2.1-ville.img . I have the T-mobile Sensation 4G. I guess I need a new recovery right??? With the old one it wouldn't let me boot into recovery. Thanks in advance!! :good:

You can use every bootloader with every recovery.
You just need s-off to flash a custom recovery.

So... I have a S-on Desire S unlocked with HTCdev, rooted with superoneclick but I can not get the 4EXT recovery working. App is installed and all my partitions are ext4.
I get the red triangle when I go in to Recovery but I even haven't flashed anything. Just trying to make a backup first.
Is there anything else I have to do to get the recovery working ?
Try flash recovery in fastboot. 100% need to work then

Do you mean I have to install it in fastboot?
In start I was on clockworkmod but later I got cache probelms and I changed to 4ext but clockwork I did flash in fastboot.

OK. I uninstalled 4EXT and flashed the recovery image with adb / fastboot.
Now I have a recovery indeed. Thanks man...
I used this topic: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1314629 more specific the quote from "Skanob " how to flash it.
Next step is to install the (touch) app again end see if that works to...
HTC Dumlock
HTC Dumlock is a workaround for devices with HTC's unlock that cannot flash boot from recovery. Put simply, we make backups of recovery and boot, then we flash the backup of recovery to boot. When you reboot normally, you'll be in your recovery, but since your recovery is flashed to boot, you can make changes to boot. Head on over to our website for download links and instructions.
NOTE: The Desire S does not have TWRP, so you will be using the universal version!

Sounds sweet! Let's see if it can achieve what it touts. I'm already S-OFF (Revolutionary) though - then went ENG S-OFF some weeks later. I could S-ON to try it out & give feedback.
Actually, after reading it several times I understood the following:
When flashing a new ROM from recovery the boot and recovery partitions are being backed up as images, then recovery image is being flashed on the boot partition. This way, when you boot normaly, you boot into recovery instead of being stuck on HTC splash screen. Since you are in recovery you will be able to fix the boot... Something like that...

Hello everyone.
First of all, thank you for taking your time coming here and i'd like to inform you all that i'm a legit noob regarding this topic.
I recently rooted my HTC Sensation XE using:
HTC All in One Rooting Toolkit
Clockword Mod Recovery Manager
After succesfully rooting my phone, i installed Cyanagemod 9.1 using 'Rom Manager'. I made a backup in the process.
When i installed Cyanagemod 9.1 my HTC Sensation XE wouldn't boot.. So i restarted my phone, got into bootloader and recoverd my phone using the backup i created.
When i rebooted my phone it didn't boot any further then the Beats logo. I tried recovering several times, without succes. Everytime i start my phone it won't get past the Beats logo.
It's still possible to get into bootloader etc. but i have no clue how to fix my phone..
Hopefully someone can help me with this!
My HTC phone:
Android 4.0.3
HTC Sense 3.6
HBoot 1.29
S-ON
In this general section.. There is a guide.. Called.. "Flashing roms with SON "... By asskickar... Do extra 1 step from there after doing the restore or after flashing the rom (use the corresponding boot.img in both the cases)

Ur phone is s-on so I assume you need to turn the smartflah on from the 4ext reccovery. Install the 4ext recovery first, turn smartflah on and flash any rom to see how it goes.

Thanks for the fast reply!
I'll go and try this.
I forgot to mention that i already did this in some way. I extracted the boot image from the Cyanagemod 9.1.zip and i put it in the ADB folder. Then i used "fastboot flash boot boot.image".
So if i'm correct this could be the problem? Because now my phone will try to boot the Cyanagemod, i think.
Got it working again. Flashed the original boot.img from my backup.
Thanks for everyones help.

After i wanted to install a custom rom on my sensation, it doesnt boot up.
1. First of all i unlocked the bootloader on htcdev.com. But i disconected it when it asked me on the phone if i am sure to unlock the bootloaders. It gets a black screen but at the hboot it says they are unlocked. So i continued.
2. I flashed the recovery (with fastboot) which was explained in this threat:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1864053
But i didnt was s-off.
Until there the phone worked fine.
3. So i flashed this rom after a fullwipe:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1833423
Now it doesnt boots up, it stucks at the HTC Screen, what can i do?
Edit:
hboot1.27.0000
Radio11.22.3504.07_M
I'm assuming you installed cwm recovery, if so you can either flash the boot.img or a much simpler thing is just flash 4ext recovery and enable smart flash. And then flash the rom as you did last time. P. S for questions post in the questions forum.

Thank you!!!!!!
It works now.
i flashed the rom with 4ext recovery
As the threat's title, my phone stuck at htc screen.
I've just received htc sensation XE from my brother. This phone isn't S-off-ed yet, and I've just unlock bootloader and then flash MiUI v5 ROM without backing up (I wish I had) and now It won't boot up.
And my question is how to reflash stock ROM for my phone (4.0.3) and if I can't reflash Stock ROM, what should I do to unbrick myphone?
Please help, because this is very important to me
P/s: sorry if this question was asked by somebody else

What recovery do you have? If you have 4ext recovery you have to enable smartflash before flashing if you have clockworkmod you need to flash boot.img from pc manually because you are s-on and wipe everything except sd card
