Wats Up All!
Um not new to xda but i am to the mytouch 3G dev. I was wondering why every rom that i try and run here all crash. For instance i would use an htc widget or the internet browser, and if i try to back out back tot he home screen it crashes and restarts the sense ui with the htc logo. Is there anyway around this or are all thr roms with sense ui doing this?

Nexus S with CaynogenMod 7 Nightly #16
i used Launcher Pro (Paid) on may HTC Desire (stock and custom roms) on my Nexus S the Launcher Pro seams a bit ... slow? buggy? sometimes it crashes ... now i use the ADW Launcher included in the CaynogenMod 7 but its feels the same ... its slow and somtimes it doesnt work ... then i have to wait a bit and its working again ...
i dont make any mods so it cant be the problem ...
does anyone has the same problem? is there a way to fix that?
Maybe has something to do with the nightlies. Ive used both launchers on my stock ns and have never had a fc or lag.

of those 2, i prefer GO Launcher EX
it has the best of both ADW and LauncherPRO plus & way more
it's fast, and it's free
easy to skin & theme

Thanks for the heads up on Go Launcher, it's come a long way since the last time I tried it.

I just gave Go Launcher a try and it was alright except when I applied my custom icons they got extremely pixellated :/

Launcher Pro and ADW Ex are kind of choppy. No, it's not just my phone, I've had 3 nexus S's and it's all the same. My N1 and Vibrant both had buttery smooth Launcher Pro animations, but not the Nexus S. I can get it close if I use a 1.4 or 1.5ghz overclock kernel... but I don't want to do that just for the launcher lol.
I'll try Go Launcher... but I'm still skeptical it can be as smooth.
I just noticed my first ever issue with lp: I sometimes scroll through my docks when I'm not paying attention but this time I noticed that while scrolling to the left at high speeds it would occasionally show a blank dock in between. So I did what I do whenever I find a bug: I repeated it over and over seeing how often I could reproduce it. Then all of a sudden my dock just flat out disappeared. I restarted lp and it came back. Sort of. It only showed one of my two docks (the one to the right). Only a full reboot brought back both. If this happens again it might be a reason to switch but typo what I don't know :/

Go Launcher EX is pretty damn fast and doesn't ask for all those permissions the original one had. Although, there are still some bugs on there for the Nexus S that I've experienced.
1. When pressing home on a different screen, the screens disappear. Home has to be pressed again for it to take me to the main home screen.
2. When rotating from portrait to landscape, sometimes the dock is misplaced.

2) never had that problem
1) yes, only happens in SNS, it doesn't do it on my other phones
work around is to NOT USE the setting for Home+Preview, set the Home button either or, just not both

Just saw that there was an update and it fixed the home button issue. Other than that, this launcher is great. Much faster when rotating from portrait to landscape and other stuff.
Moved to Q&A
ok ... i tryed the following:
i deleted the ADWapk ... now the system is running better with Launcher pro ... maybee this 2 launcher dont like each other ...
problem is ... with the next update the ADWlauncher is back again or not?

Stop spamming your damm theme.
I have LPP and ADW Ex but my launcher of choice is Zeam.
Try it, its free.
I came across this on google:
http://android.modaco.com/topic/347592-replacement-ics-style-lockscreen/
Basically it just shows you how you can get an ICS styled Lock Screen for the Sensation! It's great and has been running really well. The article says:
Download:
1. Magic Lockscreen: HERE
2. ICS Style Theme: HERE
How to use/install:
1. Install app, then theme and use app to select the theme. The app will walk you through some steps to show you how to use it, but..
2. Select the Magic Lockscreen as your Home Launcher default. Then the app will ask you which launcher you want to use as your main launcher.
Screenshot:
Attached at bottom of post
I use the Rosie/Sense, and I noticed that doing this the way that the app tells you kept making Sense reset every time I hit the home hey. To fix this, I use Home Switcher (free on marker) and selected "Set as default" for Rosie/Sense launcher which fooled the Magic Lockscreen into staying active when I love my phone, and fixed the issue with Sense. It actually runs very smoothly for me.
Not sure what it's like if you use another launcher if that may have problems with resetting so often either, in which case, try Home Switcher and choose set as default for your launcher.
Works On:
InsertCoin 3.3.x - Working reported by tjd319
CM7 Alpha 9 - Working with slight flash before lock and after unlock reported by dvandit21.
ENERGY (Oct 18 Version) - Working reported by dansharpy

Work on CM7?
Also works perfectly on Energy (18th oct version, not tested on 22nd oct version)
Thanks for the guide, looks awesome, especially in fullscreen mode!!
Thanks for sharing, works great with InsertCoin 3.3.7
Working on Energy Oct 22, but it's noticeably laggy. The built-in ICS lockscreen that certain ROMs like Bulletproof have is much smoother.

Very pretty lockscreen, though I still preffer sense weather's one.
I will definitively use it with MIUI later
Laggy and kinda ugly...
Seems like a very low resolution lockscreen. Anyone else notice this, or is it just me?

I would use the ICS lockscreen if it was FAST and had sharper resolution. It looks neat, but just cannot stand a laggy unlock. Is this what everyone is finding, or should I try reinstalling it?
Matt
i have the same thing like you, weird unlock each time, i think the probleme was the aplication and not instalation

Here's what it looked like on my evolution, the first is a stockish look, the second is with simi clock widget. It's a paid app, but well worth the cash.

Anyone else keep getting sense restarting after coming out of an app?
Nope... Not got any other launchers installed have you?
I'm sure this question gets asked daily. It's because the sensation doesn't have that much memory, and sense 3.0 is hogging too much of it. A change of launcher bypasses the issue.

strange, my device always has 150+mb free when idle, and 200mb+ when i clean my prog-list,
do you actualy close any programs, or only just use the home-icon.
only a different launcher would not change much, sense will still be present.
No, it's the sense launcher itself that causes the issues, and it's that which keeps restarting, hence seeing the HTC screen while it starts up again. Using a different launcher bypasses the issue entirely, though you do lose the ability to use sense widgets. You still use the sense keyboard and can use HTC's apps though.
I never use the home icon as I don't like leaving apps running, I always quit out of them properly if I can help it. Sense takes up too much of the phone's memory, so when you try to change or exit tasks it runs out of memory and can't do it, hence sense stops and restarts from scratch. Seems to happen more the more apps you have on the phone.
Are you rooted?
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using xda premium
I am now, but it was doing it beforehand too. Hence why I use a different launcher.
I have noticed that on my Sensation the Sense interface restarts every time I close the market using the "Back" key after installing or upgrading one or more apps.
It does not happen if I go back home using the "Home" button...Can anyone else confirm this trend?

Do you have spareparts installed and if you do is app management set to aggressive?
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e with Beats Audio using xda premium
I used to have the same problem on stock ROM not-rooted so I rooted my phone and installed a custom ROM. This solved my problem and i have no more random reboots.
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using XDA Premium App
I had this same issue and just removed spare parts and bingo it's not crashing any more. Spare parts was kinda pointless on gingerbread as the battery history was the main thing I used it for but that doesn't work on gb.
Thanks d3vilskid
Edit: spoke too soon.... Stopped happening with browser and home key. But still happening with market place and back button.
If u have root u can try the market app ram manager it balances ram for everyday. Use and the paid version can free ram for multitasking And gaming
Cyanogenmod Nightlies
Tdj's Demonspeed v10 Kernel
ClockWorkMod Recovery 5.0.2.0
You can add HOME_APP_ADJ=1 to the build.prop file, and that will prevent Rosie (the launcher) from being killed/restarted by the memory manager.

Can Someone mod the touchwiz launcher to run in landscape mode ? Or at least point me in the right direction to attempt it myself ?
I use my note in landscape a lot, But whenever i leave an app it goes back to the homescreen and reverts to portrait mode and i have to turn the phone on its side again.
Surely im not alone on this one ?
Thanks.

Touchwiz 4.5 on Galaxy note
Ummm why don't u try the Touchwi 4.5 ,,,it already has landscape support?
Well, Im using the touchwiz launcher from the SGS3, I think its TW 5 ??
The TW i used before that didnt have alphabetical app sorting and i didnt like the icon dock. Im fussy I know
I guess I will revert to it if i cant get a solution, Ive tried apps on the market that force in into landscape but it cuts out half the screen and looks a mess.

You can use "Appzorter" from play store to sort the apps, in case you revert. No idea about landscape though..

i tried landscape locker, and it works partially, because sometimes goes without notice to portrait mode... the only solution its to modify the touchwiz to get a fully landscape experience...
Someobe knows howbto mod the touchwiz to gain landscape mode
