hmm as far as my understanding
you tried SOFF ..and it didnt worked until now ..so when you booted you got juopuntbear screen
then instead of running RUU ..you can still restore the device to working condition
try the troubleshoot point #4 from my soff guide (link in my signature)
if you still want to run the RUU
first you need to relock the bootloader (fastboot oem lock )
then connect the phone from bootloader to pc (phone should read fastboot usb after this) then run the RUU it should work (error 155 is connection issues)

Returning to Stock few questions.

So I am returning to stock from this build:
ROM: CyanogenMod 9 RC1
FIRMWARE: 3.32.401.x & 3.32.401.10x
Radio:/ 11.22.3504.07_M
Hboot: 1.27.1100
And I have a few questions because reading the guides just didn't help me:
1. I can't understand completely the name of the RUU's: RUU_Pyramid_HTC_Europe_1.27.401.3_Radio_10.42.9007.00P_10.11.9007.15_M_release_192183_signed.exe
1.27.401.3 - is this HBOOT version?
10.42.9007.00P_10.11.9007.15 - This is radio but why does it have 2 values?
192183- What is this?
2.
If you have S Off, this doesn't matter, but you should always try to flash the oldest RUU, so that it is easier to S Off later, unless you don't intend to perform S Off again.
Click to collapse
I am S Off and I want to return my phone to S-on for warranty purposes then S-Off again so I must flash the oldest RUU right? If it is this is the situation how to determine the oldest RUU by HBOOT version?
3. Firmwares? What about them does the RUU overwrites the firmware should I downgrade firmware before flashing older RUU and can it be done? Is there such thing as firmware and RUU compatibility? If there is which firmware corresponds to which RUU, the firmwares have version that are not mentioned anywhere else?
4. Which RUU's I can flash and which I can't? I mean what should I look for to be suitable? Should I install RUU that has the same HBOOT version as mine or I can install older like I am ICS and I want to install GB RUU so I can S-Off easier latter?
So I am a little confused about downgrading and picking suitable versions of everything.
I decided to try without matching anything just downloading the RUU with the oldest hboot and flash it. It's RUU_Pyramid_HTC_Europe_1.27.401.3_Radio_10.42.9007.00P_10.11.9007.15_M_release_192183_signed.exe and my device info is in the beggining of the thread. So in FASTBOOT i run .exe and I get
error: -5001. Please make sure you have finished any previous setup and closed other applications.

Is the problem with compatibility or something else?
Okay seems I've asked too much. Well I want to understand all those things but for now this is what I need to know:
Will flashing this RUU: RUU_PYRAMID_ICS_HTC_Europe_3.32.401.5_Radio_11.69.3504.00U_11.22.3504.07_M_release_246089_signed.exe
On this Phone:
ROM: CyanogenMod 9 RC1
FIRMWARE: 3.32.401.x & 3.32.401.10x
Radio: 11.22.3504.07_M
Hboot: 1.27.1100
Will be successful and can I S-off and Root again easy latter?

1. RUU naming convention
RUU_Pyramid_<an extra LE in the name if XE>_HTC_<country/cariier>_<rom main version>_Radio_<radio version>_release_<release version>_signed.exe
dont bother about release version ..we dont need that
the only concerns are ..
country/carrier -> which determines the cid
rom main version ->explains whether youy are on GB or ICS (lesser the version ..older it is ...only between same country/carrier RUU's)
radio version -> tells the radio
2.oldest RUU ..ive explained earlier ..the main version should be least ..but this comparison is only valid if the country/carrier matches
eg:
in case of
RUU_pyramid_tmous_1.52.xx
and
RUU_pyramid_europe_1.27.xx (you cant say which one is oldest)
3.no firmware questions when we are talking about RUU (firmware arises when you talk about custom roms)
RUU has everything ...it wipes everything and converts it to stock (RUU cant touch the SOFF and CID though ..they can be changed only manually ..i.e. by we doing it manually by commands)
4.which RUU ..is you decide by CID ...
if you are supercid ..and dont know the original cid
you need to select the RUU based on your country and carrier
there is an excellent guide on RUU and it explains everything
here is the link to it ...do read it
(it helps you in finding right RUU too )
RUU RELEATED INFO AND FLASHING GUIDE
also remember by flashing RUU ..you wont lose SOFF ...unless you change it manually ..to know how to change it please refer the above guide
also i believe this answer ..answers your second post questions too
Thanks a lot! But I still got the problem with error I mentionted in the 1st post (error 5001) I tried with 1.27 and 1.28 HTC-Pyramid-Europe. What should I do is flashing through safe mod possible.

im confused
did you mean you solved it ? or are you asking me how to bypass that error ?
anyways
you need to keep the phone connected to pc in bootloader/fastboot and then run the RUU.exe
Also ..if you did HTC-DEV unlock ..relock the bootloader (fastboot oem lock) and run the RUU.exe
I can't solve the problem. I connect it in bootloader/fastboot and try to run the RUU.exe. And I did revolutionary S-OFF.
Hey no idea that
error: -5001. Please make sure you have finished any previous setup and closed other applications.
is pretty annoying.
What is the CID currently on the phone ?
The RUU with xxx.401.xxxx IRC will require SuperCID (11111111) or a CID of HTC__001.
1.27... will end up installing HBOOT 1.17.0008 (just gone through the process on my replacement replacement phone.
As mentioned earlier you'll keep S-OFF and your existing CID after installing the RUU.
As far as the comms are concerned have you got the latest HTC drivers on the PC ?

I've recently run a few RUUs on my phone to get to a state where I could have a carrier backup, just in case (I forgot to get one immediately after S-OFF/custome recovery, doh). At no point did I re-lock the bootloader, I unlocked it (HBOOT 1.27.0000) and it's stayed unlocked the whole time, always worked perfectly. I also didn't have the phone in bootloader/fastboot mode, it was just on the home screen, again worked perfectly. I guess YMMV.
I am super CID.

regarding RUU running normally ..you should have usb debugging enabled ..and need to have proper drivers too to recognize the device ..
running from fastboot no hassle there.. (most 155 errors can be prevented from running from fastboot)
couple of people were thrown error 99 when they ran RUU with unlocked bootloader ..so relock is a safer bet to prevent that error too

3.33.401.6 RUU installation error 155

My HTC Sensation 4G is S-ON and my firmware version is presently 3.32.401.5. My mobile is not super-cid and my CID is HTC_001 and MID is PG 5813000. I am not SUPERCID. I am presently running Viper-s rom and intend to upgrade my firmware to 3.33.
I am sure 3.33.401.6 is the version i should install. Since i am unable to install PGIMG file through bootloader, Dark-Forest told me to use official RUU.
I downloaded RUU_PYRAMID_ICS_HTC_Europe_3.33.401.6_Radio_11.76A.3504.00U_11.24A.3504.31_M_release_266171_signed.exe
and when i tried to install it i got error 155 WRONG IMAGE ERROR.
Error Description says "ERROR [155~159]: IMAGE ERROR
One of these error messages will appear when you use the incorrect RUU to update and the image file size is larger than the Flash ROM size. In this case, download the correct RUU version and try again."
I dont know what to do.
Should i install official 3.32 RUU and then install 3.33 RUU ?
Please help me.
i am thankful to the community for excellent work and great roms:good:
i HAVE found a guideline http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1672425&highlight=install+3+33+ruu

Is there anyway to get rooted again ?
wait a sec ..you are soff right ? then why are you doing htc-dev unlock ?
you should not do htc-dev unlock over soff thats a bad move ...you can flash juopunutbear hboot aka eng-hboot ...check the kgs aio tool in sensation development stickies there is an option to flash eng-hboot use that ..
if you just want to root your phone ..then check my one click root tool from my soff guide ....link in my signature
unlocked using htcdev file
Sorry to dig this thread up, but why would you ask a question if you disregard the answer? People like this should be banned of posting new threads.
thanks
i already find million post and video to settle white screen after boot... finally i try to relock and install RUU... thank a lot....

no there is no need to unlock the bootloader as long you are S-OFF
what to do:
install 3.32fw(from bootloader and renamed as pg58img.zip)
install3.33fw(from bootloader and renamed as pg58img.zip)
then install ics rom from recovery

I have tried to update the firmware many times, see this pic (it also shows info about my bootloader)
after I downloaded the firmware I checked the MD5 SUM and it matches
this pic shows that the device is rooted

Hi,
I just noticed you tried HTCdev unlock.
This was not necessary,as you were already s-off, and it has probably messed up your phone
Your best bet now will be to run a RUU.
Look HERE
Look for a RUU that matches your area and current radio (10.14)

You're probably right, trying to unlock the bootloader after it's s-off was a stupid move ,before I thought that it's necessary to flash a rom
I flashed a RUU (not T-Mobile's) and it works fine
I think I'm gonna use it for a while and then try again to flash ICS rom.

[Q] can't s-off to update tried htcdev doesnt work!

Hi all
I have a desire s
android 2.3
HBOOT ***unlocked***
saga pvt ship s-on rl
HBOOT 2.00.0002
I have rooted last year I think I used superoneclick and now I want to S-off to get update rom so far I have:
downloaded revolutionary=Device not supported,
HTC\dev gone through webside instructions a few times flashed the unlock code they sent cmd says succesfull but it did nothing to phone which just stayed in fastboot. (tried a few times on xp and win7)
tried running the ruu from htc but that fails saying wrong version error 155 (tried a few times for some reason it wont start on my xp but runs ok on win7)
now I am stuck, could anyone please help?
Thanks Paul
Run RUU with HBoot version of 0.98.0000 or 0.98.0002 to be able to S-OFF with Revolutionary.

Hi
First:
In order to use revolutionary s-off, you'd need to lower your software version number(misc_version)
1. Lock your bootloader- fastboot oem lock
2, then flash correct RUU -matching your CID
3.use revolutionary....
Second:
As you state in your bootloader screen info,
, htcdev unlock worked indeed- your bootloader is UNLOCKED-as you've said yourself-
, that's what it does...
Third:
If you wish to update-as you said-then update to what?
a) official RUU saga 4.0.4:
1.and foremost- you must lock your bootloader again in order to flash a RUU
2.if your device is branded by any mobile carrier- must create gold card
, in order to flash WWE version of the RUU
3. Certainly you flash that in fastboot
b) custom ics rom:
1. There are many to chose from- much more sofisticated than the official RUU 4.0.4 release
2. Not need to s-off realy in order to flash most of them
3. You only have to flash boot.img from the rom you're flashing,, via fastboot (again)
Fastboot flash boot boot.img
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1146601
This is where it all begins
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2143855
And that is where people could render some knowledge for you
Edit:
Last but not least:
Keep unlock_token from htc- in a safe place because
, if you decide to upgrade by the official RUU
, you must unlock bootloader again in order to flash any custom rom
, and you do it by that same key (unlock_token)....
When there are any troubles with connection < pc- phone > check your windows drivers
Thank you.
I was trying to flash official ics but I will go for a custom instead.
I see now where I was going wrong thanks I thought I had to unlock the Hboot by making it s-off to flash official rom of ics, thats why it was failing because its unlocked.
Thank you

[Q] How to choose RUU?

Hi guys!
I have some problem with HTC Sensation. It boots only till HTC logo. And nothing more! On this device isn't OS.
Some guys said that I need to install RUU exe file through computer. I did it but received error 130 (need other version of RUU, I think).
So can you recommend something?
S-ON, hboot 1.18.000, radio 10.14.9035.02_02
Thank you!

What exactly do you mean by "On this device isn't OS".Do you mean you haven't install some custom OS on your device or it has no OS at all.If you have erase the OS the bootloop is something natural.
I did a google search for your radio version and according to this I found answers only on some german forums. So your cid (as long as you are s-on) should be possibly a German or a European one.
You can download the latest Europe version from here and give it a try.
You can find your cid number using fastboot.Just get into fastboot mode of your hboot and give the command fastboot getvar cid.
If your bootloader is HTCDEV unlocked give the commands:
Code:
fastboot oem lock
fastboot reboot-bootloader
After that your hboot should say Relocked instead of Unlocked. Then install the RUU.
You could also give it S-OFF using this guide (Does not require HTCDEV unlock method):
[GUIDE] Juopunutbear S-OFF NO HTCDEV UNLOCK | ROOT (1.2x HBOOTS)
If you are S-ON you can use a RUU only with hboot 1.18 in your case

Why exactly he should use an RUU with hboot 1.18?!
I know that the version of hboot can be upgraded normally but cannot be downgraded as long as you are S-ON.If you are S-OFF you can downgrade everything. Also if you want to install an older RUU and you are S-ON you have to use a gold card and you patch the version of the misc partition to an equal or lower one for the RUU you are going to use.
