Since this is my first NFC device, I always wanted to play with it. However, I can't stand the sight of touchwiz so here I am on cm9. I've tried this:
http://www.modaco.com/topic/354635-region-device-root-patched-google-wallet-apk-11-r67-v12/
and looked at this even though it says its for touchwiz only (so I haven't tried it):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1769083
My question is, is it possible at the moment for cm9 and google wallet to work together at the moment? If so, how can it be done?
I haven't seen it working on anything but stock yet. I've tried it on 4 or 5 different ROMs.

I just installed the Newest Xoom Zone Rom with functioning Camera and HDMI, and I love it. I was going to post this in the Dev forum for the Rom, but because I'm a noob it won't let me. Is there any way to port the Face Lock from the Nexus to a Xoom. I tried the simple, copy .apk to the system install of the zip before I flashed it, and it crashes when I go to set it up. Face Lock appears under the security heading, but it doesn't function. I like this feature on my Nexus, and I think it would work great on a tablet. Is there a way to make this function on the Xoom, or will we have to hope Google releases a way to build it?

It would be great to have it in deed! But if i were you i should post it into antother section.
Functionality like this will come in time.. We have really only had ics for 30 or so days and alot of devs are working hard on core functions and ensuring it is stable, we only got cam and hdmi in the last few days... Also other devs not associated with the builds may be able to come up with a solution but it may require libs or other files as u have seen just an apk drop wont cut it.. Or the apk itself may need porting for tablets or the xoom specifically, personally i dont know i wish i did. i do think though face unlock will come soon as alot of people are like yourself and want it... i would like it myself

I wasn't trying to *****, believe me I'm so impressed with the Dev support of this thing. I don't really know a lot about programming or any of that stuffs, and I wasn't sure if anyone had any insight to offer in getting this to work. It seems like the only way that is happening is by testing apart the APK and there is NO way I'm smart enough to do that. I was surprised when I saw the camera support already. Im just really hoping there is a way for this to work eventually, it seems like this is more suited to a tablet than a phone, and hopefully we get this working eventually.
synergy rom has just entered nightlies status and im curious if the 1.7 google wallet that was released will function properly on the revisions
released from synergy nightlies ?
tried to post this in the correct synergy section where it originated from but it wont let me post until i do 10 other posts...

I assume so. I used wallet v1.6 on Synergy v1.7 and it worked fine. Don't take my word for it though.

Yeah, I was rather curious about this as well. I have really grown to love Google wallet and Google now in this rom and although i have been following the synergy thread closely, i haven't seen anything further posted about the lifespan of regular Google wallet updates to match nighties (which seems insane) .

honestly i don't think it's that much work, i think he just has to update a build.prop file or something like that and repackage it. if i knew how to do it i would take over for him since he said he started school again and will have less time for dev work

thanks for the replies fellas. its worth a try but i think ill wait another day or so cause ive heard that in the r20 build, people are having horrible battery life and they are trying to track down the problem.
As I said in my older thread about custom roms, I've successfully installed the liquidsmooth rom on my S3, it is awesome, well it looks awesome but I have a few issues, one is minor but the other is major..
First the minor issues, I discovered that the Google play store app is missing, which made getting stuff a major challenge! Until I figured out a way to install aptoide as a replacement for it, which also wasn't easy, as liquidsmooth comes with a crappy browser that doesn't even launch.. So I had to install Firefox in some way in order to load aptoide, can't remember how I did it, it was one long hectic day yesterday.. Anyway the point is, I tried downloading and installing the play store app and it just keeps crashing when I try to load it. I tried restarting and different versions of it but to no avail, is there no hope for this?
Here's the major issue, one that might force me to abandon liquidsmooth and maybe go with the cyanogen mod, which I tried but didn't really like because of the android version it uses, 4.0.4! I mean on the stock Samsung os I was already in version 4.1.2 so I wasn't happy with having to go backwards.. I digress, the major issue I'm having is with the phone, people tried calling me and it rings once on their end then goes into a busy signal, and my phone doesn't even seem to know it happened! This is a phone first and therefore it doesn't matter how cool liquidsmooth looks and feels, without a proper phone its almost pointless! Is there a fix to this problem guys? I sure hope so.. In addition, sometimes I'm downloading something and it just freezes, none of the buttons work, forcing me to reboot the entire phone, what's up with that? Is liquidsmooth just flawed that way?
Thank you for reading, I hope you can help, I would sure appreciate it.
Peace

I've tried several roms and I keep getting the no connection retry prompt when I open the play store. I've tried removing my account and signing back in, clearing data and caches, toggling sync and anything else I can think of. I also get the red sync error icon under my account in settings and my signal icon is staying gray no matter what I do. It doesn't seem to matter if it's aosp or touchwiz.
Sign into Google with a new account then sync everything then go back to your old account then you should be good.

It still won't sync my old one and even with the new account selected in the play store it still gives me the error.
I wish I knew the answer myself, my play store only works on certain roms.

I wish I knew, my play store only works on stock rooted and synergy. Any other rom I get no connection. I've pretty much given up on it. I've tried every fix I could find about it. I even Odin'ed back to ICS and that had no luck either. I'm happy with synergy until we get 4.3 or I get a new phone whichever comes first...
Try different version of play store. I actually had this problem today(no connection) with one of my phones. One version from team blackout didnt work while a version from official gapps for the specified rom did.
Just try out different Gaaps Packages until one works. Check MD5 on each package

Thanks for the gapps suggestions guys but I don't do aosp so that's not my issue, though I have tried pushing different versions of play store into tw roms to no avail.

I'm on 4.3 and after about a week it finally synced and I was able to log in to the play store. Not sure what happened.

I make regular nandroids so I'll give it a shot, plus I've found another fix that I haven't tried yet. I'll let you know how I come out.
I have a Verizon S3 d2vzw with an unlocked bootloader runnign Oct M Android 6 custom ROM. When I use the back camera I takes pics just fine. When I use the front camera it takes pics just fine in low light i.e. when the light is to low to take a decent picture. When I move to a location where the light is good I get a force close. "Unfortunately Camera has stopped". The Camera is version 2.0.002 (7a32386e9-30) org.cyanogenmod.snap that comes with the ROM, but I tried it with Open Camera from the Play Store and I got the same issue. Has anyone ever heard of anything like this? Perhaps someone would be able to speculate...
Update
I now believe this is a CM-13 issue. I'm not certain if it applies to devices other than d2vzw, but all CM-13 based ROMs for d2vzw e.g. Oct-M and AICP, have this issue including CM-13 Nightlies. If you search "camera" in this thread you can read all about it: http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...m-cyanogenmod-13-0-nightlies-verizon-t3269675 Also in the threads for Oct-M for d2vzw and AICP for d2vzw I've found the same issue being discussed. When I originally posted this I was using Oct-M and there was no talk about this issue in that thread and in all my noobiness I thought I was the only one in the world that had the problem. I didn't think of searching threads for all CM-13 based ROMs. In light of this discovery I'm questioning the usefulness of this thread.

Pretty unusual.
The phone is old and you're running old firmware. It's really hard to tell what the issue is. Could be a hardware or AOSP issue.
If you can take a logcat while the phone force closes and you can see how it fails. You can post that in the cm thread and see if you can get the developer to fix the problem. You can post it here and I'll tell you when it's failing.
Alternatively, you can attempt to boot up a stock based rom and see if that camera is still giving you problems.
Camera Firmware?

I was reading about camera issues and I read something about "camera firmware". I thought the phone's firmware included firmware for the whole phone. I guess that's why sometimes there's separate "modem firmware". I'll get a logcat done so someone with a clue can pehaps buy me a clue. I've been meaning to try Alliance ROM from beanstown to see if the problem persists with a stock based ROM. I was messing with it yesterday in a dark room and the front camera works fine 'til I turn on the light then I get a big fat FC as soon as i take a picture. No problems with back camera. I love my S3 and it's in very good shape, but I think it may be getting tired. I've been wanting a Nexus 6 or 6p for a while now. Those seem to be my only options since for now I'm stuck with Verizon. I think all bootloaders should have the option to be unlocked by the user. They could even put up a big scary warning, notifying us users of all the chaos that might ensue from recklessly unlocking our bootloaders. Here's one of the posts I found about camera firmware. http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3/general/jb-4-1-2-camera-driver-t2006128
Thanks for your thoughts on all this wierdness.

Camera is usually always an issue in CM ROMs because the stock camera firmware is closed source so the devs can't use it, they have to piece the camera firmware together themselves. Some devices never get the camera straightened out in CM.

Right, hence my suggestion to use a logcat since it's impossible to tell if it's aosp or hardware related. Camera usually still works on aosp, just not nearly as well.
