[Q] Live wallpapers too laggy

I'm wondering why do everything lag when I put any live wallpaper. You also have this problem?
I was using an HTC Desire and LWP were the same amount of lags on Sensation. And the Sensation it's dualcore+bigger ram+etc etc. WHY LIVE WALLPAPERS DO LAG?

Use that and LWPs should be much smoother, the ICS LWP is smooth on my phone @710MHz/192.
Ok, let's try.

Tried it. Doesn't work so much. Still laggy.
By the way I'm experiencing same lags in AOSP and MIUI roms. And I'm using the ICS LWP too.
I'm using stock kernel, for better battery. Must I put another kernel?
Wait for ICS with full UI gpu acceleration..there is always small lag on every single even most powerfull android phone..some users just dont see it..

I know this. I guess i should have elaborated on my Q.
I would like to know the differences/new features and what not..
What are the key features or upgrades to look forward to experiencing/having.
If your phone is a slow one like mine,I wouldn't upgrade.

define slow? i have a moto triumph and it seems to do the job.
CM9 isn't out yet right? When is it coming out? I want it so bad
There are many alpha and beta builds of CM9 for many phones out already however unless you know what you're doing, I wouldn't use them yet.
its out already but still in dev
Can't wait to get a working version on my G2X to try out but I need my phone for school so it has to be stable :S lols
CM9 ICS SHOULD be a better performer, depending on processor. I have Deck's 4.0.3 ICS running on my HTC EVO 4G and I can say it's definitely snappier than CM7 on the same phone. Some of that is due to hardware acceleration using the GPU, I believe. I'm currently using NovaLauncher but I've tried Trebuchet and they are very similar in look and feel and I like that alot, NovaLauncher just seems to be a bit more mature. I'm anxiously awaiting CM9 on the EVO and will be on that like white on rice when it becomes available.
Ooo do you have a picture? that would be cool to see. I'm still running gingerbread on my g2x lol

where can i find nova launcher and treb..??
CM9/ICS is more refined than previous versions of android IMO: More consistency, swiping gestures are well used everywhere... list goes on!!~~
Funnily enough, CM9/ICS seems to run fine on my older devices. On the Galaxy tab 7, ICS is running smoother than CM7/GB did for me. Some things don't function perfectly (camera) but then in GB other things didn't work either.
On a much older device, like the Nexus one, CM7/GB seems to run smoother, CM9 lags a bit more.

How many people couldn't stand the ics touchwiz?

After using it for a day I just could not accept the tw launcher and had to install ics launcher.
Just wondering if anyone has found the touchwiz launcher useful and if so why?
If you ditched it which launcher did you go to?

TW ruined the ICS that's all I can say.

It's not a terrible launcher.... Just boring. Not very customize-able. I have and will always use an aftermarket launcher. AdW eX to be exact.
I am using Nova Launcher. I have had no issues with it so far.

Even though I dont have ICS yet (****ty Rogers), I definitely agree with hawk
I was looking for a nexus experience but didnt want to get a galaxy nexus.
Thats why i would recommend Nova Launcher, Ive watched enough videos
I'm neutral, just looks like plain old touchwiz to me. Like the one we've always had, And I think we expected that. But with the added multitasking features And other added features its beem a pleasurable experience so far And I'm thourghly enjoying it.

I would definitely love you if you get it vanilla. I hate touchwiz, most useless software ever.
BTW you got any ETA as to when its coming out?
I ditched it for Apex. Much nicer.
I've always used launcher pro, so i'm super used to it. I just have it set up to have an ICS feel to it using this guide. I've had this for a while now, but now I actually have true ics
http://forums.androidcentral.com/wa...o-ice-cream-sandwich-how-updated-10-19-a.html
This is what it turns out to look like. Not too shabby, b/c I don't really like Nova or Apex that much.

Yea, the touch whiz completely ruined ICS for me. I had ICS running on my Inspire 4G before I upgraded to the Skyrocket, which was aosp ICS. I could definitely see all the differences straight away, and was quite underwhelmed by the ICS leak. I think some of the best parts of aosp ICS are missing. I used apex launcher for a while to try to make it a bit better, but in the end, went back to my NexusMod 4 backup.
Looking forward to some vanilla ice cream goodness.

Besides the launcher (which I ditched and bought Nova instead), I don't know what else is TW. I have no experience with ICS till today's flash-fest, so it all seems good to me (minus the TW launcher).

I think its a race right now between a few of you guys to get an aosp style rom puahed out! I really appreciate your guys' hard work!
I've just recently started looking into rom development myself and if I thought I could help yet id offer but I'm not there yet. Keep us posted on how you're doing! I know I'm watching the dev section like a hawk!

+1 fpr apex. I use apex on my galacy nexus and now my skyrocket as well
The thing that annoys me most about TW on ICS is that they got rid of the settings button in the notification pull down. Like... WHAT THE **** SAMSUNG?

They also hobbled the lock screen. AOSP ICS allows for many music players to have controls on the lock screen. Samsung only supports it's own music player to have controls on it's TW lock screen. I just don't get it, why take away features?
On top of that to still not add a widget (since you are forced to use the stock TW music player to have lock screen controls) for the TW music player is just stupid. Makes you wonder how thought out TW is.

Extract your "com.htc.resources.apk", "framework-res.apk", "systemUI.apk". Go to UOT Kitchen and upload the files then go to window then select Ice cream Sandwich. Good luck, hope I helped.

I tried this on Sky ICS 4.2F-6 and didn't notice any difference. Maybe it's only for AOSP/AOKP ROMS?

Yeah that was the only thing I noticed as well. I asked in the original thread about it and his response was that the context pop ups have different animations (i.e. long pressing a conversation in messaging)
Thanks!
Animations are supposed to be like in this video after you flash my .zip:
It's completely different if you compare it with AOSP ICS. A bit similar with GB. Since Samsung is a fan of GB, it is similar
Yeah it's obviously not working for us

This is not the OTA boot animation, this is for the window transitions from JB. I didn't notice much of a difference but perhaps others have?

It does, but it's just the very subtle window transitions when entering and exiting context menus (nothing dramatic)

Nope, the transitions are supposed to be different. Even tried the zip from the note section, nothing.
Could this possibly be why? http://rootzwiki.com/topic/31658-vrtheme-zips-not-working-with-twrp-recovery/
Or is the zips just not formatted right for us? I can't figure out how I would try and push this update with root explorer.... Any ideas?
EDIT:
Tried to merge the framework this framework with the one I pull from the latest CM9 nightly, using Framework Flasher but I can't compile it, it fails with lost or error.
I took the animation files from cm10 and used the universal flasher to try and put them in cm9. The framework for ics has like 83 animation inputs, but there were many more than that in jb.
The results were pretty odd, I had the basic animations working (new window blows out from the center) but the app switching animations (squishy in and out of top and bottom) did not work. The strange part was the pop up menus, like power button options. They would slowly expand like a balloon blowing up. Very slowly.
My point is I don't think the ics framework is capable of handling all of the jb animations.
sent from my part of the problem
Why does it work for everyone else then? Best example is the note. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1758585
I have tried the font and it works mostly but I've lost text altogether on a few things, one being the names of the people I'm getting text's from.
I thought our skyrocket was very close to the note..?
