Hi,
I am new here but i am watching the forums for a long time. I came across a phone - HP Data messenger. The issue is that the phone is stuck on the boot screen and searching throughout the threads I couldn't find anything how to resolve it. My question is not regarding the HP in particular, but in general, how can this be resolved on wm6.1 devices. I presume that there is no longer a Rom on the device. Can anyone guide me or point me to a thread how to install a brand new Rom on a clean device?
Thank you in advance.

HP is a how-to-keep-a-secret company if you need help contact them and check your pocket
You need a device-specific tool to flash a new-branded rom forget about "in general" and search for a solution for your device only by ex check manufacturer site for a rom/tool/ instructions

Thanks for the info, but as you said HP is a how-to-keep-a-secret company as they do not support this product any longer . Imagine that . The issue is that at the moment it is not recognized by the PC. It does not show. Again thanks for the info on the devices. If anything comes across your mind how at least I can see the device in Windows I will be more than grateful.

well, I don't want to blame HP like that but you see.. they are business-oriented and it's obvious to request money for support !
more than that iPAQ series are very solid phones ..
It's strange that your phone is not recognized by PC so tell me more about your PC and what you did in order to get it
you need to install Active Sync also if you are running Vista/7 then you need Windows Mobile Device Center
for an update and instructions check this link

Hi,
The issue is that it does not show the device and because of that I can not update the bios with the link you gave me. This is an updater which does not see the phone. So i am in need of the phone to be visible. I am with Win7 and I have win mobile center, but because the device doesn't have an OS it can not connect. I am connecting the device, I tried searching how to get it in the boot-loader but it seems that there is no info what so ever as this HP is not as the older versions of IPAQ. I found on the web a way to get it in "USB composite" mode, but this doesn't help either.

try to disable any firewall (including Windows Firewall) also check this on Windows XP with at least Active Sync 4.5
I have a Samsung Omnia this is WM phone too so I know from my experience Active Sync/ PC connection can be tricky
also send a mail to HP tell them about the problem also there is a way to put firmware files on sdcard and press a keys-combo at boot time that will flash it without PC but this is device-specific maybe HP can help here

Hey Guys
I tried searching and saw a few people with my issue but no real solution. I just got a One S coming from Sprint (Evo4g) and enjoy the One S except for the no SD card thing. I have no issue connecting my phone to my windows 7 machine as a disk drive, but I have 2 computers at work with XP and both do not recognize my phone. I get a "USB device not recognized" message on my taskbar and when I click it, there is no driver installed for my phone. Same thing with both XP machines. OK, so I search the internet for an HTC USB driver, cant find one ANYWHERE, a few sites that seemed to have had them have removed them. HTC website is missing the One S support page entirely right now, awesome. So after I clicked around while I eventually found a link for HTC Sync software and tried installing that. Still no driver was installed and cannot connect that way either. At a loss here, any advice? If so does anyone have any links for actual things to install that can fix this issue?
Feel like a newb here but coming from the EVO i am very familiar with rooting, installing ROMs etc so find it hard to believe this is so difficult.
Thanks!
David

Maybe no one uses XP when there is nothing wrong with Windows 7 but if you rooted already you use Flash Image GUI for flashing boot.img then you wont need a PC to install a rom.
Good morning everyone.
First of all I want to apologize for my english, that I'm afraid it's very poor.
My question goes next: I bought an used Samsung Galaxy tab 2 7'' p3100 3G and it has a very big problem. It can't be connected to any pc, windows or mac. It's not a drivers' problem, so when the device is connected, the pc does nothing. Not even a display in the device manager, or a noise. However, it usually charges. I say usually because sometimes the icon battery shows a red ray, but it charges spending more time. That's all. It has been proved with three different original cables in several computers running different SO.
I don't know if it's a connector problem or it's a Rom one. It has an operator locked SO with Android 4.0.4 that not even shows the OTA update option in the menu. And I cannot select the way I want to be connected by usb in the "Storage" options.
The fact is I cannot update the device and I cannot root it in order to install a better rom or an original stock one.
I've googled all I can do to find a way for rooting the device, but all the roads drive me to the same point: Odin. The software I cannot use because my device can't be connected to any Pc.
I know this forum is my last chance. There are some ways like z4root or framaroot that work in another devices (Galaxy S for example, I think), but they have not been ported to my device. I think my chances are to make it by an apk o perhaps flashing a signed file from the original recovery.
I just need to install a simple clockword mod or having the device temporary rooted to install and run the Odin's apk that allows me to install a pre-rooted rom, an open recovery... Just a simple step for one man, But the Colorado's Canyon for me in my situation.
If someone of you know any solution or want to help me, I'll be truly grateful. And I didn't even mind to pay him for his help.
Thank you very much in advance.

Have you manually installed the drivers? If not, download the samsung drivers, install and try again. Read through the link below to find the drivers.

Unfortunately yes. I've tried with several versions of Kies, by installing manually the drivers and it doesn't work. The fact is I connect the device and the pc does nothing. Not even the device manager shows a new device or is alterated in some way. It's like one data pin in the connector was damaged or the rom was corrupted and it doesn't let the device be recognized.
I think my only chance is to make everything inside the device. By sd in the boot manager or with an apk. If not, I'm condemned to an obsolete device that could not even be updated.
Thanks for trying to help me.

This may sound absurd, but try a different version of the drivers. I had to install like a dozen drivers before it worked

I agree. The drivers can be so touchy. I'd uninstall and reinstall drivers numerous times before giving up. Good luck!
Sent from my GT-p511x
your cable is faulty. Get another one on ebay cheap.
I'm afraid I've tried with three different cables, as I said (one of them original from Samsung and new), two Windows Pc's, one mac and about fifteen different drivers.
Believe me: I've rooted with no problem more than twenty different devices (and jailbreaked another ones ) and this is the first time I cannot make it.
Think it's a hardware problem or a corrupted rom one. In both cases I have to root it by an apk or a flash from the sd.
Anyway, I appreciate very much your help, boys.

I'm in a similar situation with a Galaxy Tab 2 p3113tsyxar
It is not recognized by any computer, and my next step is to try another cord manana. Until then (hopefully) I've got a nice paperweight.
You have not rooted ur tab till now......so u have not played with your firmwares! So its better to visit a samsung store. If you have warranty then they will do it in free.(And your android will also get updated!)
If I helped you, just press thanks!
I've been browsing these forums all night and I for the life of me cannot just find a simple answer. This update came out a while ago and I had no idea about it, so hopefully someone can help me.
Literally, all I'm trying to do is upgrade to 4.2. I've never done anything at all to my phone, it's always been stock. I'm looking for help because the OTA won't work at all, it said I was on 4.1, so it checked for updates and downloaded like a 400mb file, and it turns back on and I'm still at 4.1??
I went to HTC's site and saw that I could just manually install it, but of course it's never that easy. I did all the steps exactly, but when it starts to download and gets to the black HTC screen, my computer always says it doesn't recognize it and can't install drivers (error 170), and then it fails to update. I've tried this on both machines that run windows 8.1. I feel like I've tried everything..I tried running it in different compatibility modes, run as admin, and then I read somewhere that you update it when you're on the fastboot screen. So I tried that but when I'm in the bootloader my computer doesn't recognize my phone at all.
I'm stuck on what to do at this point. I can borrow a computer that has windows 7 on it, if that would help at all. Any help is appreciated!
Not enough info. What carrier version is the device? What region/country are you in? What is your current software number (not Android version).
When you say "manually" update, I think you are talking about RUU. What is the RUU version (file name)?
WIndows 8.1 is probably your main issue with the RUU. Win 8.1 is not compatible with HTC drivers. Anything before 8.1 should work. But again, you need to provide more info.
Hey man thanks a bunch! I should've provided more info, although I just tried it using a windows 7 laptop and it worked with no issues thanks!
This has been a fiasco... Ive been attempting to Root, Unlock Bootloader, Install CWM, and Flash to HD Custom rom that is now out for this device. Ive found two tutorials on how exactly to do this and one video. The one originally posted on this forum by Superdragonpt has been modified by this forum and there no longer is any useful information or files available (after sifting over 120 pages in that thread) then there is another one posted on Android Forums here (http://androidforums.com/memo-pad-h...ad-hd7-us-backup-restore-unlock-recovery.html) using SP Flash Tool. However he clearly states that he was only capable of doing this walk-through on Windows XP and had limited success on Windows 7. As I am running windows 7 this creates an issue... There is also attempted to follow the YouTube instructions posted here (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yuNFx10cS2U) however the OP of that doesnt respond to his numerous requests stating that "App Not Installed" error upon attempting to install.
I delved even deeper to find the root of my Windows 7 errors. When using the SP Flash Tool Ive read that the battery needs to be fully charged and vcom drivers need to be installed. Well ok, I've installed over 20 different drivers from aproximatly 7-8 different threads on the SP Flash Tool, the battery is fully charged and there doesnt seem to be any conclusive resolution to any of this. The device seems to cycle between modes when you plug it into the PC full battery or not and the SPFT begins the process and stops the second the device cycles modes...
After all this research and work itd be great if someone could jump in here...

The forum your link leads to is down atm so I couldn't check it out. However, in the meantime, why don't you try booting Windows XP in a virtual machine, and give it a go there?

Well that would be the proper course of action if you can get to CWM yes. Just don't forget to do a clean install, wipe data and cache.

Well, if the drivers on a virtual xp aren't working and you don't want to set up a dual boot with xp, then your only option is to send it to a service center.

Nabbed the tablet for 15 dollars with cracked digitizer at that point if I cant repair it myself then Id say cut my losses and have a pretty paperweight lol... I actually located a Windows XP machine and will be heading to get it seems that their a bit of a rarity these days
Hey everyone -
The title says it all! Reading, searching, and experimenting for hours... no dice. Time to ask for help.
I'm trying to unlock the bootloader of my Shield Tablet, but no matter what I do, I can't install the Universal Naked Driver (which I understand to be step #1). I've tried to troubleshoot this to no avail (including turning off driver signature verification, etc.)... Windows 10 refuses to do it, complaining that "Windows was unable to install your Shield Tablet. Windows could no find driver software for your device".
I'm posting this question *here*, because it makes me wonder if something has changed in the last firmware update from Nvidia (I'm running the very latest - LMY48C.35398_567.2193)... so here's my question: has anyone out there tried to root (which requires bootloader unlock) a Shield Tablet with this firmware? If you've been successful, could you point me toward a tutorial I haven't yet read? Thank you!
I think your first issue would be installing the wrong drivers. Install the actual nVidia Shield Family drivers from the gameworks download centre. Next, make sure to try a few different adb versions. Not all of them are identical, and you might have better results with one but not another.
Good luck!
