Hi all,
I don't want to try it without asking. I have one new TF300 with dock and an older one TF101.
Can I use TF300 dock with TF101? Anybody who can tell me anything about it here?
Thx!

I don't think you can without mod the keyboard or kernel because the connection betwen asus transformer and prime was uncompatiple it's the way for Asus to buy keyboard for.

Is the same connector.
Does anybody know, whether I can try to connect the dock without damage?

My understanding is the pinout and cabling are identical across builds. They say the Prime will work in the 300 dock, it just doesn't fit snuggly into the hinge. I think it would work without damaging anything.

No. 100% incompatable. Different locking mech, different layout, different tablets, just 100% will not work. You would have to do some serious modding just to get the two to connect properly, not to mention the software is different. The connector itself might be the same but the hardware that goes into mating the two together are completely different. Will not go together in stock form, 100%.
The 200/300 docks are compatable however the hinge assembly is slightly different and the 200 is too loose in the 300 dock and the 300 is too tight for the 200 dock. Accessories are compatable across the board for the 100/200/300/700/and the slide with the exceotion of the gps dongle. Its the same power cable, same 40 pin connector, same pinout. Only major difference is the locking mech between the 100 and the newer versions. completely different.
All in all, use the dock designed for the tablet.

That's not '100%' incompatible. The locking mechanism is different, but the actual 40 pin socket is identical. If they mate correctly then it should work.

They would all work on each other if there was no worry of it fitting together. If you can plug it in it will work.
It doesnt work properly, I dissasembly a tf101 dock and plug my tf200, usb working, no touchpad or keyboard, not charging also.

I just got a nexus one dock delivered this morning... but nothing happens when I put my phone in.
I had the desire rom so I flashed cynogen and tried and still nothing.
I am guessing its faulty but there isn't anyway for me to actually be sure is there?
I guess I will just have to contact HTC support and get it replaced!

When your drop it into the dock, does it show charging? You could just have a set of dirty contacts - a quick swipe with a pencil eraser is an easy way to make sure they're clean.
Are you running a N1 ROM now (Stock, Cyan, Enmother, MCR)? If so, dock it and head to settings and there should be a "dock" option there now once you've docked.
Thanks for telling me to try that.
I can't figure out what the problem is. I did get it to work by pushing the USB wire into the dock and plug connector.
That makes me think that the USB wire is damaged but it seems to not require any pressure to work fine on my HD2 (as its the same connector) so I am a bit stumped by this!

Are you using the wall charger or USB charger? If it's the USB charger give it a shot with the wall charger. They say don't use the USB charger and the only reason I can think of is that the USB charger only provides .5A and that may not be enough to power the dock and charge at an acceptable voltage.
I am using the wall charger now but I am UK based so I am not using the suplied charger - rather my HD2 wall adapator and USB cable although that shouldn't effect how it works clearly.
I do wonder if the invisible shield may be causing part of the problem.
It doesn't "slide" into the dock I have to push it even though the bottom part of the phone has no protector (as I removed the shield from there) it does seem to be super temperamental to the EXACT angle and position I have it in the dock...

As long as it's pushing 1V I don't see why there'd be any problem if it's not the "supplied" charger.
Can you tell if the phone is making good contact on the bottom? You should be able to see the pins actually depress and "disappear" as the phone pushes them down into the dock.
which dock have you got
I'd have thought the problem would be the skin blocking the three contacts ( is it a genuine dock?
Jamie
with the invisible skin I need to push the phone in a little as well. The skin makes the phone not fit as well so that may be your issue, not the dock.

I removed the protector totally and it still requires pushing into the dock and then it seems to randomly disconnect the charging for no reason after a couple of seconds.
It must be that the dock is faulty (of course it could be my phone but I can't test that out so I will assume it is the dock).
I e-mailed HTC who said if I phone them they will sort out a replacement.
They seem quite efficient so far although I haven't phoned them yet!
I have to be honest I am not impressed with the dock... sure it looks nice and the bluetooth streaming is cool but even if mine worked perfectly and charged the phone - the phone slips out if I touch it anywhere - it must be the most unsafe dock ever. Forget using the phone in the dock. It won't stay in it if you press it....

Thats for an older tablet that viewsonic sells (used to sell)... if you search on ebay, viewsonic tablet you will see several different ones.
Not Available (YET)
At the 2011 CES last week, I had the chance to speak to Ann Macneela from ViewSonic. She said the dock is not available yet although will be coming out "soon".
Confirmation!
I can confirm the dock for Malata Zpad T2 fits ViewSonic gTablet! I just got mine in from an eBay auction and it's PERFECT!
After booting the tablet with the LAN connected, that works flawlessly. ES File Explorer finds my network under the LAN tab and I can copy/paste/stream files.
The HDMI (with audio) also works great!
The gTab easily drops into the dock connector and isn't wobbly at all (like I thought it might be).. No more need to plug in the cord by the nightstand, this is awesome!
Product Description
This new docking station is designed to hold the Viewsonic GTablet and Malata Zpad T2 tablet devices at a perfect viewing angle. Increase the function of your tablet with additionals connections for HDMI out, Ethernet (LAN), USB, and power.
Technical Details
* Dock for Malata Zpad T2 fits ViewSonic G tablet also
* Adds HDMI out
* Adds LAN port
* Adds USB port
Outstanding! This shows up for 50 bones on Ebay (plus 10 for shipping). May have to grab one of these ASAP. Any tricks for network recognition for streaming???

Question about the dock...
Does the power pass through the dock and charge the tablet... i.e. does the docking port act as a charging port also. I.E. hook power up to dock. place tablet in dock, tablet is now charging and docked.
OR
is it the other way around? Does the unit power the dock. i.e place tablet in dock, hook power up to TABLET.
OR
is it what i fear and you have to use a power adapter for both devices at once? i.e. place tablet in dock, attach power cord to dock and to tablet separately.
IF the dock can charge my device... then i want one... bad.
IF i need to also have my power adapter... i kinda can live without it.
IF i need a power adapter for both... not really that interested.
(the ideal situation here would be to buy two, one and home one for work, take table with me, place in dock at work, device charges. Leave in dock at home, device also chargers....)
I would also like to know the answers to above post.

I'll try to be brief in the answer
Dock does nothing without power... It doesn't come with a charger but can use the same one that came with your tab. Charger goes to the dock, tab goes on, it's charging.
That's why most people end up getting another charger; to leave one in the dock at all times and have a spare in a laptop bag or at the office as a 'just in case'
Hope that helps!
check my sig if you need any further information, REMEMBER the dock in the thread is incorrect...

Caution the dock in this thread will not work for the G-Tablet. From what I have read the Malata Zpad dock is compatible with our G-Tablet. If you are looking for a Dock, but not power I have this stand and it works well for me. http://www.xentriswireless.com/Corp/Targus-Acryllic-Mini-Stand-Clear-P2776.aspx
This stand allows you to place you G-Table in two angles 45 and 90 very sturdy. I use this stand with my keyboard and mouse combo. If you are looking for a keyboard and mouse that works here is the link: http://www.google.com/products/cata...log_result&ct=image&resnum=5&ved=0CDcQ8gIwBA#

Dock is legit and works; shipping has been an issue for some. This dock comes from a China on a very slow boat. That said, mine arrived in a little over a month, works as expected, is the Malata dock and I am pleased overall, although the viewing angle is not necessarily ideal (so I also ordered from Wit-global a "leather" case with keyboard that I also like quite well). for me the dock was essential to use the HDMI out.
Are you using default Viewsonic GTablet ROM or customized ROM ?

I believe the 40 pin connector has everything we could use including HDMI, USB, charging, and probably more.
Does anyone know the pinout and the mating connector? I want to make an adapter that would make the HDelight WHDI transmitter work with the tablet directly without the dock. It needs power from USB, in addition to HDMI. I am guessing both are in the 40 pin connector.

If you can make a bunch of Power Adapters for it...that's be great. I've been trying to find the 40pin connector for a while now.
I don't think people need HDMI out on the cable, b/c that's built-in in the form of a mini-HDMI cable. I think most people would want a way to hook up USB devices to it. A 40pin to USB hub (3-4 ports) would be really nice.
I think the power adapter for a reasonable price with a nice long cable would be an excellent start. 15V, 1.2A switching power supplies are cheap in China + wiring it up to the connector for $20-$25, I think you'd have no trouble selling those. As a bonus, if the adapter ALSO could take a 12V car adapter as input and not just 110-220V AC...well that's an easy sell right there!
Thanks!

Verkion,
I think using a USB car charger with the USB cable would work, wouldn't it? I haven't tried it though.
Anyway, if anyone gets hold of any info on the docking connector, pls let me know. I'll make it worth it!

(note: I've done nothing to confirm whether this is the right connector or in any way related to it myself, I'm just sharing the link to save somebody else the hassle of googling.)
That 40 pin connector doesn't have +15V lines. Hence the electrical layout might be a bit different than what's listed.
Thanks for posting the link. As AnTrans said, there is a good chance the pin out assignment listed on that site is NOT what the Asus uses but may point towards finding the correct connector.

From the data sheet, also 2129261-1 will fit. The 3.3mm thick will fit into a receptacle that is 3.8mm thick. I think the pins are okay (might be wrong).

See the mfr's page here , particularly the "View Product Drawing" link. The dimensions of the plug are (excl. the latches) 18.5 x 3.1 x 7mm (7mm being the minimum start of the overmold). I don't have calipers on me right now, but the pins are on .3mm staggered centers, so the distance from an edge of pin 1 to the same edge of pin 40 is 11.7mm. I still think this looks like a winner.

Okay, I agree with you. I was wrong, looking at 3.8mm on the receptacle.
Both your part and my part are the correct outer dimensions. The differences only depend on what type of mount - board or cable.
Looking inside my ASUS cable with mag-glass the pins are staggered.
So here is a weird one for you that I can't quite figure out.
I bought 2 touchpads and 2 touchstones during the fire sale.
I put one up for my daughter for Christmas and the other is mine.
I have been using mine with the touchstone since I got it without any problems.
I finally unboxed the TS charger for my daughter last night. I plugged it in and put her TP on it and it wouldn't charge. Nothing.
I did some testing and swapping since I have 2 of each. Both TP's work on my original TS. I tried both TS's with both of the AC adapters and still, only my original would work. The original worked with both AC adapters.
Here is where it gets weird. The new one will not charge either TP when it is running WebOS.
On my original TP, I have put Android on it and I am running the Xron Rom.
When my TP is booted into Android, the Touchstone charger works. It charges my TP.
Anyone had any similar experiences? I have already called HP and I am planning on sending it back more than likely.
does sound strange, so the dodgy one only chargers your xronified touchpad?
Mine sometimes doesn't want to charge, its mega specific about the angle and position its at.
Yes, it is very strange.
The faulty one will only charge my Original touchpad, and only when it is booted into Xron Android.
You boot it back to WebOS, and no charge.. move it over to my original Touchstone while still in WebOS, charges fine.
My daughter's TP doesn't have android on it, so I don't know if that works or not.
I have the HP case on both of the TPs. I have tried it every way, with them on and off.
Very strange. It seems on WebOS 3.0.4 (the latest version) the touchstone charging sensitivity was decreased. On mine, I can't charge while using the OEM HP folio case with the flap folded back like I used to. Some people say they can, so it seems to vary. If possible, I would say just try to return the bad Touchstone, but if you really want to you could try reverting to WebOS 3.0.2, but idk. It sounds like something's not right with it.
I thought the touchstone wasnt dependent on software. Isn't it just an inductive charger. Three only thing software controls is displaying the battery level I thought.
I thought I read somewhere that if you had multiple touchstones, and you set them up with different settings while the TP is on them, it would remember the settings from TS to TS.

It partially is...at least the receiver. I'm not sure if it's baked into the kernel or if the update has some driver in it, or what exactly, but it looks like 3.0.5 updated the sensitivity back to pre-3.0.4 settings so far.

What? How do you change 'settings' on the touchstone??
Yes, I would like to know if there are any settings for the touchstone as well. Mine never worked, sent the first one back and they sent me a new one which doesn't work either so I figure it must be my tablet
I think he means set up the TP while it's on the TouchStone and it will remember the setting next time it sits on that particular one. No idea myself if it works, I've only got the one.
Can't seem to find a definitive answer as to whether the phone can detect a USB connector with appropriate resistor added to signal dock mode (desktop vs car).
Apparently the stock ROM doesn't have support, but perhaps CM9, etc may?
Can someone with first hand knowledge comment?
Thanks!

I don't have a dock, but CM10 has a specific settings item for Dock Options. I'd assume this means it works...
I think that might be generic.
I'm not sure if the hardware detects a resistor between pins 4 & 5 on the USB cable to signal if its in desktop dock vs car dock.
We use our phones as alarm clocks too, so not having that feature pretty much kills the phone for us.
Finding something like the N1 that has good docking abilities that isn't huge is tough now a days. (Too bad there are few phones with POGO pins, that makes the experience awesome)
