After doing S-OFF is it possible to restore the original bootloader?
Please delete I just saw this question in another thread.
Yes it is, you just flash a stock ruu for your region. Please search before you post.

Again I made a mistake which I stated. In any case if you are going to criticize me at least put an answer which is correct. Based on the searches I have done on the forum your answer is incorrect. With whatever method the alpha crew is doing it doesn't appear possible to go back to S-ON state by flashing an original RUU.
Maybe the flag is set in some part of flash where RUU flasher doesn't touch. In that case some needs to write a tool to do that. I don't where this flag is so I can't do it.
I also have flashed back to stock ROM and found that S-OFF stays. We need a way to turn S-ON back on. And yea, stop telling people to search. What an Ahole thing to say. The search feature here SUCKS!
Matt
Flash eng hboot than a ruu of your region. Think it gives you ship s odf, but ship s off is still factory since some phones where shipped with it.
Edit: fastboot set own setsecureflag 3 in quotations. Idk if it works, but it does on EVO 3d and they both share similar hardware.

So yeah,I accidentally deleted my backup of my stock ROM, from what I know and have been reading I cant pull a stock ROM from another sensation and put it on mine. From my research I figure I'm screwed but if anyone knows of anyway to revert or download a stock ROM it would be much appreciated. Thx
Can anyone help a brotha out?

Have you gone into recovery mode, pull the battery out, put it back in and hold the volume down button along with the power button. Then factory reset the phone I believe?
Yea, that's the first thing I did after backing everything up. Still kept the same custom ROM and kernal. I guess I could just break it and get a new one lol

Without knowing the ROM you were on it's impossible to know which yours was. Might be able to suggest something if you haven't changed your cid yet tho

So those ROMs dont work for some reason, its an application that can't connect to my phone, if there's a stock ROM that I can flash that would be a lot better. Also idk how to check my CID or I would let you know, thanks for all the help tho guys. If anyone knows of anything else that could work please let me know

To check CID, make sure you have adb installed and reboot the phone into FASTBOOT. Then type:
fastboot getvar cid
With your phone connected to your PC and it'll tell you your CID
Once you have it post it up and we'll see what we can do from there
hi guys, i´m afraid that i have same problem as heist206 :/ but i´m also afraid, that i had my cid rewrited to 11111111...there´s not any help for me, is it?all i know about my previous ROM is, that i had HBOOT 1.18.0000
It'll be any of the 1.45 RUUs then but again, couldn't tell you which
Seems no one does any research before flashing their phones
if you are on the 1.8 hboot, s-off, and it will change it back to 1.7 hboot then you can re write the cid and flash the stock rom after getting the correct one.. if all else fails just use the a cid from the list with no branding specific in the file name
Unfortunately I didn´t expected, that I´ll need it...i foung only one 1.45 for Europe, is it possible, that it will be this one? a need it becouse i have to complain my phone...it is truning off without any reason...
Help
Hey,
I rooted my phone and simply forgot to back it up. -I know, stupid of me, was my first time rooting-
I am trying to unroot it, but I'm simply not succeeding.
I am from Holland, and I got a Vodafone HTC Sensation.
My CID is VODAPE17
My radio-10.14.9035.01_M
HBOOT-1.17.1111
I can't seem to find a RUU for my device....
I have tried nearly all the Europe RUU's, but none work.
I could really use some help, if someone is able to give it.
Freek
Hey guys,
I just want to know, if my thoughts are true:
Im owning a Sensation 4G from Bell (Canada). In general it takes more time until an update will reach my phone, because it has to be adapted by the carrier.
As far as I know, if I had a rom with no branding, I mean a original stock rom of HTC, updates will be recieved earlier.
Is it possible, to change to rom from bell to an original rom of HTC without branding?
I think, it does, but would I be able to get official OTA updates, too? Do I have to change the CID for this?
Thank you in advance

Better if you superCID to prevent headaches (I guess you are S-Off already).
Chose a RUU close to the one you have now.
You won't lose S-OFF but:
- will lose root (if you are rooted)
- will lose personal settings and apps, but you can download again from market.
Hope it helped.
Or you can just wait for a dev to release a Rom based off the new update

Hehe, thank you, but you´re wrong, I´m still S-ON
I´m not dealing with S-OFF as long as enough. At first I want to gather information, befor I do this
Previously I had a HD2. HSPL (S-OFF) and flashing a custom rom, was very easy. I my opinion, with the Sensation it´s a bit more tricky xD
Is this correct, if I flash a stock rom, it will not change the CID?
In case of warranty, I have to set the CID to the default value?
Can anyone tell me, where I can find the stock rom from Bell, if I would go back to it?

I made a search for you (but you should do that ). Found it here
Your RUU should be 1.35.666.1
So I guess that stock RUU is the first on this list HERE (check in settings - about phone if it is correct).
What is your current CID btw?

And it´s not correct, my current RUU is 1.45.666.5
Some days ago, I found this list, but does not found this appropriate RUU. The search term "bell" does not found it, but "bm" xD
My current CID is BM___001

Ever tought that "BM" stays for Bell Mobile (or Mobility)? Your RUU is the 2nd on the list in such case. Should be newer than the first

Your thread is about bootloops, how will it help someone debrand their phone? Serious question
The OP just needs to Google 'debrand htc sensation' and they'll get all the info they need (or even search the same terms on here)
Just a small update; meanwhile I set my bootloader to S-Off (yay xD).
Do I have to flash a custom (non-stock) recovery?
Why respectively for what I have to flash a custom recovery. Only for backup and restore my phone?

you don't have to flash a custom recovery for RUU, and you only need a custom recovery if you're gonna be flashing different roms or for backup and restoring
Thanks
What kind of backup and restore can I do? backing up systemfiles or the complete phone? (to which target? sd-card?)

You can do the complete phone, anything that's in the Rom you're using, and yes it saves it to the sd card
Assuming I set my CID to superCID and flash an unbranded stock ROM, is it possible to get OTA updates with superCID set?
Or should I set it to a normal value e.g. HTC__001 (appropriate to the flashed ROM)

Hello,
I got the HTC Sensation XE. I rooted it, S-OFF,and Super CID.
I got a faulty digitizer(touch screen not responding), and I want to use HTC warranty, So I installed the original RUU, S-ONed it and then I tried to change the CID back to original(HTC__001). I got into adb, and just to check if the commend for changing the CID is working, I changed it from 11111111 to 12345678, then I tried to change the CID to HTC__001 and finish the process of getting it back to original state, but It showed me this error:
I won't work with any other CID that I tried, including 11111111,H3G__001,12345677 etc..
I think (But hope not) that you can change the CID only with S-OFF, so I need to use the Revolutionary tool, But I need to set my phone to HTC sync in the process of doing S-OFF, and I can't do it because my touch screen don't work
I just hope I didn't screw this *hit up. And if so, those anybody know if HTC checks the CID?
There is any way to change the CID back to original?
Thank you.
Mate any way you screwed up. You can't change your cid when you are s-on why did you change to s-on before changing your cid? Now don't do anything. Send ur phone to service center don't worry about cid. They are not going to look at it because u r s-on. Fringer cross.

I forgot to take my sd card too, and it had the CWM back ups, ups..
They were suspicious about it, and asked me if I unlocked it, I said that it was my fathers phone(I LAID) and he doesn't have a clue about unlocking.
They fixed the screen for free. next time build better phones. Not sure if they fixed it or gave me a new one but either way I'm going to sell it, in 1/3 of the price of buying it..HTC sucks..
Conclusion:
*** HTC doesn't check the CID/SD card of the phone when sent to repair ***
Hope I helped, have a good day !
Hello, I recently received an AT&T One X and the very first thing I did with it was try to root it and all that fun stuff. After a long adventure I couldn't get the HBOOT to upgrade so I had changed the CID to HTC__001 from cws_001 (I couldn't find this CID anywhere, but I swear that's what it said) and then the bootloader was re-locked. There is no OS, there is no recovery, I've tried 10 RUU's from Asia WWE to the UK RUU's and than all the AT&T ones I can find.
Most fastboot commands come back with a "Too many Links" error which I assume is from the bootloader being locked, and I cant change the bootloader's status because the bin file I got is for the supercid.
Please help me, I am usually quite proficient with this type of stuff but I really buried myself in a hole.
Why were you trying to upgrade your hboot..? Anyways.. What hboot do you have now? Is your Cid still htc__001?

Re
My HBOOT is 1.14.0002. I tried to upgrade it for all the newer roms and such but thats when I managed to screw everything up. Yes, it is still HTC__001 and that is the international. I've tried several WWE RUU's and all refuse to work giving me various errors..
Yeah no ruu will work because you have an international cid with an at&t phone.
You'll need to htcdev over again and pray it works.

I already unlocked the bootloader, It just wont let me do anything anymore... All fastboot commands are giving me either unknown errors or too many link errors.
I just dont understand why I cant change the CID anymore! The bootloader is unlocked so i should just be able to use fastboot..

Flash a stock-based ICS rom and then S-OFF, then you can change your cid, or whattever you need to do
Doesn't necessarily need to be ics but yeah you get the idea. After s-off then you can ruu to update your hboot and anything else that gets updates. Bear in mind that on aosp ROMs the touchscreen won't work after you upgrade until you downgrade the touchscreen firmware.

Don't you still need supercid to s-off? Or is that no longer a requirement?
Never tried with am international or cid from another carrier.. Maybe it'll work? If not he can always hex edit his cid.

Thank you for the replies, the link to the Hex editing of the CID saved me. I knew that's where the CID was located but I didn't know you could dd it out of the system. By the way, I was having hard times trying to flash CM9 on there and it didn't work, neither did viper roms so I was greatly discouraged. By the way, I have no earthly clue on how to S-OFF the One X so I will probably try to look harder for that. I'm probably going to either RUU to where I was, I believe 2.2 or put on.. some rom that sounds good. Any favorites? Y'all say I can flash ICS to it if I just flash the boot.img first right? I thought that the partition sizes would cause a conflict.. Oh well, I'll give it a try

You should be able to flash any rom so long as you fastboot flash the boot.img ics or jb.
