My boot partition took a dump on me the other day and I just stopped by TMobile on the way home. The guy took a look at it and ordered me a replacement right on the spot. Ordered it Thursday......got it yesterday afternoon. Rerooting it this morning!

Dude it's been almost 2 weeks since you first posted about this! Just give T-Mobile tech support a call already and tell them your screen is going wonky. They will want you to do a factory reset through the normal settings menu on the phone - use that time to revert to stock with one of the stock images you can find posted on this site. At the end of the call, they will say it's a hardware issue and give you instructions how to proceed. They will either ship a phone and send you a box to send yours back, or tell you how you can send it back(possibly taking it to a T-Mo store)
Good luck

I believe you must have me confused with someone else. My incident happened Last Wednesday & I returned my phone to TMobile on Thursday.
I didn't have insurance other than the manufacturer's, which runs 12 months whether you take TMobile's or not.
Things go faster with insurance. They cover the fast shipping even without it being a claim.

I need to send my phone into HTC also, but I feel like my phone is stuck. I flashed the stock RUU or whatever. But it's hanging on USERDATA. Is that normal? Its been 10 minutes. My phones locked, but still S-Off. Can I still send it in?

I called T-Mobile, and I don't have a warranty. Only manufacturer's, but I have hardware damage (Tapped on Home Key). I called T-Mobile and they said I might not be able to send it in. Since I'm not the account holder I could only go so far before they hung up on me :T I also remember reading somebody sent in there phone and got an Amaze 4G/Sensation. I wouldn't mind paying the fee for a newer device.
I've heard several other people say that HTC warranties their products for 1 year from purchase regardless of it changing hands or not. If you offered to pay for an upgrade I'll bet they'd jump right on it.
Contact HTC directly. That was how Blue got his taken care of.

Here's what I did with TMOUS.
1)Call
2) Say my phone is messed up
*they ask why
3) Say you have never updated your since you got it, and you did the OTA update that was being pushed.
4) Say while it was updating it got stuck on a white screen. Then wouldn't boot.
Finally, deal with the BS they make you do. After 15 minutes you'll have a new myTouch 4G Slide.

You don't need to persuade them. Tell them you think there is a hardware problem and describe it to them. Get the shipping info and go from there. You are within their warranty period. You're good.

Thinking of getting a warranty on my phone, They told me it would cost me 20 dollars, and that I wouldnt be getting a "New" one it would be "Refurbished", I'm alittle outraged by that.. considering I signed on for another 2 years and bought the phone for $265.00.. My power button is sticking and I can't stand it.. is their anything I can do to fix this? The phone works just fine.. Minus the power button..

If its the power button, call HTC and get a new back cover. Tell them about the power button problem and they will send you a back cover free. You can get a 1 time replacement part on every part of our phone from them.

Well I switched from an iPhone 4 to the Nexus S (Nexus S is better) but I used a micro-sim adaptor but when I took it out one day it took a pin with it. I called Samsung and they said they don't do repairs like that so where in Canada can I get this repaired? I would love any advice. Thanks!

Same crap happened to me. But I guess I got a little lucky cuz only half of the pin broke off, the other half I just bent up so it would touch the sim when it was put in. Worked for me. Idk if yours came off completely or partially like mine did

The person on the phone said as long as it's not physical damage they can fix it for free... which is ridiculous if you ask me because most people on this forum could fix any non-physical damage on the Nexus.
They told me to go to Rogers for some reason to get it repaired even though I said I got the phone as a gift and it was not from Rogers. I guess I'll try calling them again to see if I can get anyone more helpful.

Well after a long time of playing with it I manage to get the phone to read my sim by putting strips of tin foil on the contacts on the sim card. Disappoints me that I have to do this though and now the phone has no resale value.
I just got mine spoiled after returning from a holiday I've tried putting the copper thing back in place and slotting it back but it doesn't work. Now i have to wait till tomorrow to call Samsung support in hope that they will fix it if i pay money because my device has no warranty because it is from Australia and i'm using it in Singapore. Will they accept it to fix it if i pay for the repair?
And can anyone who used aluminium foil or anything to make it work post photos or videos on how to do it? I have no experience in soldering and stuff (15 years old) and i dont know how much foil to put there. Please help me!

Your post is kind of contradictory. You say they wont fix it for free. That suggests that YES they will fix it, but not for free. Which makes total sense, since you physically broke the phone yourself. That's not covered under warranty.
But then you go on to say they told you to talk to Rogers. Your post is very confusing.
Rogers is a carrier. If you have some sort of damage plan or replacement coverage they may help you. Otherwise, at best, they're just going to send it Samsung in the first place. More likely, they won't touch it.
Your options are to try to repair it yourself, try a local shop, or try Samsung again. I seriously doubt that they wouldn't repair it, for $$$.
Or get a 3rd party warranty. Although, that would be pretty unethical and possibly illegal, filing a claim for damage that occurred before you signed up for the plan.

The general concensus is that TMo really doesn't check past the moisture dot under the battery along with a couple of battery pulls and they just send you out a replacement. That's what happened to me & a couple of others that had to get another one.

Okay so I was on Synergy 1.7 and Beans and I had GPS issues. The GPS would never lock on. I turned on Navigation and it would stay stuck on "searching for GPS". I Odined back to stock and same issue. So now I'm thinking I need to exchange it. Two questions tho.
1) will I need to contact Verizon or Samsung for the exchange?
2) I got this from a trade here in XDA. Will this affect me getting an exchange?

Well you can take it in to Verizon but I don't think they would exchange it, especially if you bought/traded/etc it from a third party. In my experience they would just claim it was abused or messed with by you or previous owner and offer to "fix" it for a price.
1. Verizon
2. I can't say.
Before you call up Verizon, though, I recommend you search the Synergy thread for a GPS fix. I remember someone working it all out, though I don't recall the specifics. I figure you'd rather go through that than swap devices.

Hey Jay,
I have actually done manufacturers warranty claims on phones that I have purchased through a 3rd party (eBay) a few times with Verizon. I don't offer up where I got the phone, but they don't generally ask either (in my experience). The phone should still be covered under the 1 year warranty with Samsung, Verizon just honors that warranty for you and ships out a different refurbished phone in its place. As long as you put a stock image back on your original phone before sending it back in you shouldn't have any problems.
Also, I usually tell them right up front that I "went into a store and worked with their tech support people who gave me this number to call to get a replacement phone. Already did 2 factory resets and checked that I had the latest software update and it didn't help at all." That usually helps to bypass all of the generic tech support questions that they ask and just get down to getting your new phone.
Hope this helps,
Mike

Thank you so much. I'll try this out after I try a few other things to try to get my GPS to work. I'm currently completely stock so I'm hoping I find a way. So they send you the refurb phone and they give you like a box to send it back like Asurion does with insurance claims?

Yes, they send you a refurb phone and you keep your original battery, battery cover, sim, and SD Card. Then place the old phone back in the box and affix the return tag that was included with the replacement phone. It's super easy.

Thanks in advance

Yea, that is how Verizon handles it.
Does anyone know how Samsung would handle it if you try to go through them like the other guy suggested? I'm in the same boat and would rather return to Samsung than Verizon (I hate that Verizon gives me a used phone in exchange for a phone that I paid full price for and bought new). I feel like Samsung would want me to send the phone back to them first, which I cant really do because I need my phone and don't want to activate an older phone and lose my unlimited data.
If so, do you have any idea how much it will cost? The phone was rooted so I'm fairly certain it's not covered by any warranty.
before you do anything of that nature, what is going on, please explain what happened in as much detail as possible, screenshots would be very helpful. i have"bricked" my infuse countless times, and i've still got it running and working great right now, never had to pay for anyone to fix it or anything, as far as i can tell the infuse is pretty much unbrickable.. so if you would like i would like to try and help you out so you may not have to pay to fix something that may not be broke

Just wanted to update everyone here. I was very honest and upfront with the woman I started my trouble ticket with and told her right from the start that I had rooted my phone and caused my own problems. Well I got an email today from Samsung stating that my phone had been re-flashed and was being shipped back to me today by UPS. All I paid for this service was $2.46 for a box and shipping materials at my local UPS outlet. There was no charge for re-flash or shipping! I will always buy Samsung!!!!! :good:
Now to decide what to do since I now have two working Samsung phones on Straight Talk. LOL! Should I reactivate the infuse with it's currently inactive Straight Talk sim card or just use it for my Google Voice phone number and keep my new phone for network calls...
thats great, really surprised samsung didnt make you pay...
I'm surprised also... quite a deal.
How long from when you sent it out until when you got it back? (just curious).

I haven't actually gotten it back yet. I shipped it out on Monday, They got it on Wednesday and Thursday I got the email saying it was shipped back in my direction. I expect it by Saturday at this rate! Also, I called Straight Talk and apparently I can reactivate my Straight Talk SIM card in it with no extra charge since activated a replacement phone before sending it off and I pay for the unlimited plan. All I'll need is a new number for it since the replacement phone has my existing number and I'll have two working Samsung phones for the price of one phone plan. (I still think the Straight Talk representative was full of caca in that regards. LOL! I'll believe it when I see it!) :silly: Life can NOT be that good or I've just entered the Twilight Zone!
Congratulations man.
Btw it's almost impossible to hard brick lol.
I saw your picture of it and it wasn't hard bricked. Either way it's good their fixing it. Consider yourself very lucky. They usually won't fix that.
You take responsibility when you flash.

Yeah well I wasn't able to figure it out and I felt safer sending it to someone who knew what they were doing. My grasp of tech these days is somewhat impaired by meds that keep me from thinking as clearly as I used to. :silly:

Well in that case I would suggest you stick with the stock ROM from now on. If you are not willing to try to bring it back from an Oh Sh1t! you don't need to be playing with custom ROM's or other mods.

Never said I wasn't willing to try! I said I didn't feel up to the challenge. There's a big difference there. I don't however have any plans to re-root it for now. Maybe if, or when my brain isn't so scrambled by my current medical situation..... Sometimes, the smartest thing a person can do is recognize their own limitations.

Very true words
Thanks to op. As a result of this thread, we all learned another option for recovering from inevitable (if you flash) soft brick. It's probably not the first option for most, but it certainly may be helpful to know there's a backup plan if you just can't get your computer to cooperate with heimdal/odin

Glad I could help! :silly: And really upfront honesty when talking to the person who's creating your trouble ticket with humility and self effacing deprecation is recommended! I was a twat for breaking my warranty and I admitted it and they fixed it. Even if I had had to pay a little for the repairs, it would have been worth it! I have my better camera (With an actual Flash) and GPS device back now! FYI - In case anyone is wondering about the Straight Talk Samsung Galaxy Centura camera, it is only 3 Mega Pixels and has no flash!

I would like to apologize for that response. There are many more people on here more deserving of that type pop off if one must have them.
If you were having a good day I would highly recommend Zen's [GBRUCLB3] []>>>>> r.e.v.e.n.a.n.t <<<<< First Edition - 2013.04.30OM][
The only thing required to flash it would be to flash one of Zen's rooted kernel with cwm red recovery using either Odin or One of Qkster's Heimdall one clicks http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=23118162&postcount=3
