Is it possible to install a custom boot animation on stock Gingerbread? My phone is rooted already.
Yes. Use search. Do a little reading. And you'll be good to go.

Will the Stock Boot Screen 1.5 .zip work for the 2.1 roms?
I don't see why not.
Working on a root option for G2x gingerbread? It seems that there was a root before the phone was even released. But now that ginger is out its a no go? Is this phone not getting any love from any of the wonderful hardworking guys that do such great work? I know I should of just went with a custom Rom. But I hate this bloat which is killing my battery life. Telnav, Carhome, ect.... Thank you in advance.
Flash Xboarder's Stock OTA 2.3 Rom which is rooted. Boom you're rooted. You can then change to any ROM that you want and your phone will stay rooted.

That would be great if I could flash a new rom. I cannot get NvFlash to work. Nor can I get the phone to boot into recovery since the ginger update.
Then you did something wrong. I suggest rereading: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1056847
and see where you went wrong. You should have no problems flashing cwm recovery whether you updated or not.
Check out this video: http://theunlockr.com/2011/05/03/how-to-flash-a-custom-recovery-image-on-the-t-mobile-g2x/
Step by Step instructions for noobs on how to flash CWM. Thats how I did it!
I am now running the Ivysaur sense 4.0 Rom which has been fantastic thus far and would like the use the Rezound Bios boot animation I have used previously, I was wondering what the process would be to use this or any other boot animation in lieu of the HTC One boot that is currently on it. If anyone could help me out on this that would be fantastic, I have done a few searches etc and can't seem to figure it out.
Thanks!
The Kernel you are running must support changing or flashing BootAnimation. Then get the zip files and flash the bootAnimation.
Hi everyone i have never flashed before.
I have atrix2 att 2.3.5.
I deleted bloatware and wanted to goto stock and then start applying roms.
I followed the guide for flashing and installed bootstrap, CWM, and J.Y.Daddy's BOOT INTO CWM RECOVERY ON BOOT, and also reset.zip.
Knowing that without bloat there is no chance to go 2.3.6 i followed these steps but when i booted the phone it has a new notification bar etc, but when i checked the about phone iam at 2.3.6
55.13.25
build number is SuperCharged V 5 Update1
So what now? is it normal, or am i in a bad situation?

Along with just about every custom rom comes custom status bar icons, UI look/feel, etc. This is all a part of running custom roms rather than using stock Moto rom. Don't worry, this is what happens!

True, but I am not sure he knew he flashed a rom.
You may have problems because you just installed a 2.3.6 system on top of a 2.3.5 kernel, among other parts. I did this forever, and it had some issues.
What you should do is fxz back to stock 2.3.5 (read the noob guide, this has been said how to do way to many times, if you don't understand it, search and read more). Then you can do the OTA update and install a rom again if you want.
Yes, i did not flash any rom yet, i was installing the CWM recovery on boot so i would not be in trouble if ever i flashed a rom, but iam already at 2.3.6 some how.
If this 2.3.6 has everything the ota 2.3.6 has then i can stay with this, if not then i will have to fxz stock 2.3.5 and ota again and will have to restore everything :s

Yeah, that was stupid, but where do I go from here? I have a VZW Note 3 and I installed AllianceROM (in the "stock" slot of SafeStrap, after rooting with Towel Root and installing SafeStrap). It was a new (replacement/warranty) Note 3 with 4.4.2 (NC4). When I try to boot, it goes through the normal safestrap boot process, but once it's past that splash screen where you choose to go into SafeStrap or continue booting, it goes to a black screen.
Or does SafeStrap count as a "custom recovery"? In that case, I have no idea what I did wrong. This is the first time I've had issues with custom ROMs after going through a Note 1 and 2, so I'm unsure how to troubleshoot this.

So I just install the stock rom to the "stock" slot on safestrap? Does it need to be the official Verizon stock rom, or can it be just a very basic stock rom from the XDA android development forum?''
Is this an okay ROM to install?

no no restoring the stock rom will remove the safestrap. you might install it again later on.
it is better to have a stock verizon rom if u are carrier locked. if u are unlocked then flash any stock rom you have. It is a download mode device right? means it has download mode?
if that safestrap thing came with your device that is when it was totally stock then yes install stock rom in Stock slot.

Ah okay I understand now. Yes, it is a download mode device. Where can I find the stock ROM, and how do I install it?
Sent from my Xperia SP using XDA Free mobile app
Google it or find your device on xda and look for threads named stock ROMs. Stock firmware. Anything like that. I'm away from my laptop so currently I cant do that for you. Maybe you wait till morning it's 3 30 am here
