I upgraded to AT&T ICS yesterday and in my attempts to remove the yellow pages banner from the contacts list I have messed up the contacts.apk to where it freezes when I attempt to open it or the dialer. I was dumb enough not to have a backup available and all of the contacts.apk files I've found searching this forum also don't work.
Can someone please post the contacts.apk from an unmolested AT&T ICS build.
Thanks.
Edit...see quordandis' post below for the apk

Never mind...I finally found a working Contacts.apk
I'm attaching it in case anyone else needs it. This is a unaltered contacts.apk file from the recent AT&T ICS release.

This version seems to be 1MB larger than the one straight from my UCLF6. Does it happen to have fix without the YP entry?
I can seem to be able to install it. I tried installing it thru es file explorer but installation fails. I also tried to replace it but no luck.

can you post a UCLF6 contacts.apk as i replaced mine with the one you attached and not the dialer and contacts dont work anymore. Otherwise ill have to reflash it.
Thanks

I just tried it on mine and it didn't install, does this require root? I haven't rooted this phone because I bought it as a refurbished phone and it has some minor issues so I'm not sure if I want to void the warranty yet. I'm giving the ics update a few days. It seems better with it so far.

This is NOT an installable apk. It needs to be copied to /system/app and given the correct permissions (rw-r--r--) and proper ownership (root:root or 0.0)
In order for you to be able to use this, a) I'm pretty sure you need to be in ICS 4.0.4, b) absolutely need to be rooted.
I posted this for the person who lost their original Contacts.apk.

I'm removing bloatware from my stock rooted ics update...one thing I haven't able to do is remove the Yellow Pages entry..have you found a way or found an altered contacts.apk with out the Yellow Pages?
I'm looking through some custom roms but they're all themed ICS...so still looking for a stock themed non-yellow pages contacts.apk.

Nope, I wasn't able to remove it. I may try again, or just raid one of the ROMs that was able to remove it.

Can someone pull the swype.apk and all the libs from /system/lib for me?
It is not against XDA policy because Swype said it was fine as long as the device already had swype, and we can include it in custom roms as long as the device the rom is intended for, already has swype.
Anyway, I am using Modaco but to get media hub working I had to go to stock build prop and that breaks the swype that comes with Modaco, so I need the stock swype and the stock libs.
I will be starting on a Gorilla Rom for the Tab, soon. Is there anything you guys would like to see in it? Something that is not currently available?
HC theme would be nice to have from scratch.
Sorry about the Swype thing, but I got rid of it too.

I can't believe we have 1 million users here on XDA and this thread has had a couple hundred views and no one has pulled the apk for me?
I needed it before, so I downloaded the stock rom, unzipped the file, then un-tarred it, and pulled the apk and lib file.

Hey guy's I know it's early in your GB fun so early so that no one has posted a flashable rom. Anyway if you don't know me I'm one of the "devs" from the original Vibrant forums and am working on my next GB rom. I'm wondering if the mms.apk posted here was pulled from Froyo or the latest GB leak. If not from GBG leak can someone post that mms.apk so I can give it a try. Thanks in advance.

There are directions and apk to download for GB in the third link in my signature.
I can find the .apk all over but none work on the Charge. I am looking to avoid flashing back to a bloated rom just to back up the one .apk. Does anyone have it?

may be flashable in CWM but I'm not sure... if you don't want to risk it, just extract the .apk and use root explorer to put in /system/app

i have been trying to make this work. i hope to have it working in the upcomming touch wiz patch i am working for gummy charged.
hmm I couldn't say why as I don't use that app... I have heard there were significant changes made to the framework of EP1Q, could be that's why it won't work. As I said you could try posting in Q&A or the Gummy thread, maybe someone there can help more

Hello,
Can somebody please guide me through the steps needed to install stock ICS phone apk on my htc one x (ATT)
I have the apk but i am unable to install. I purchased root explorer, renamed the phone apk and the phone.odex file tried to install but it says unable to install.
What am I doing wrong?
Thank you so much in advance.
bump to this, I'd like to know as well. Also would be nice to get that apk if there ends up being a viable way to get this done. I'd like to have google voice vmails integrated in the dialer!

Main reason why im so interested
i can tell you its not as easy as overwriting the phone.apk with the stock ics phone.apk. and you would also need the stock ics contacts.apk i think.
Any chance to get all? Stock ICS on HOX is very good idea.
I dont really know much about where this stands or if it's currently possible, but if you head over to the development threads, you'll probably find a lot of folks working on it, or at least mimicking it through custom ROMs. Good luck.
Maybe you should post your questions in the Q&A section

Apologies if this is a dupe, but I've seen this question a lot and didn't see a thread with the answer. Here is how you disable the ongoing notification when WiFi is off on the Verizon Galaxy S III.
Source: http://www.droid-life.com/2012/07/0...g-wifi-notification-on-the-verizon-galaxy-s3/
All credit goes to the above source, just figured people would search for it here. Go above for images that go along with these instructions.
Instructions:
*You have to be rooted in order to do this.
1. Download an SQL editor from the Play store and open it. SQLite Editor is an option.
2. Find Setting storage>settings.db>secure:
3. Locate line 86 “wifi_networks_available_notification_on” in the editor and long press on that record.
4. Choose “Edit Record” and change the value to 0 (zero).
5. Save the record, back out and restart your phone. Enjoy not having a WiFi notification any longer.

For those of us unwilling to pay for this application, what's the location of the file to edit? I'm unable to find it with a different sql editor, and cannot find where its location is under any of the posts.

yea i believe it only works on deodexed roms...stock root is odexed.
Crap. Is there one that will work with odexed? If not I'm gonna reflash the leak. I wouldn't have to do a data wipe to just reflash it right? just wipe cache?

Ok, I'm going to ask at the risk of getting my noob butt kicked across the forum floor. Why is this notification showing such a big deal? Does it drain battery or do people just want it gone to reduce clutter?
