Does anyone get charging problem with HTC ChaCha after unlock bootloader via htcdev and root it with CWM?
About 2 months ago my htc chacha returned from htc service center after repairing keyboard issue. As you my chacha keyboard sometimes didn't respond verywell on some key stroke. I complained this to htc center and they confirm that was the common issue on chacha, before me there were another persons complained the same issue. 3 weeks later my chacha returned to me, htc said that they changed my old keyboard with the new ones. I didn't check very detail my chacha and it seems all things still works properly.
The day after that I unlocked my chacha via htcdev way and then root it with cwm, all process run very well, my chacha got rooted and unlocked and I didn't make any other changes beside both (unlock and root).
The problem happened several days later, my chacha run out the battery and then turn off automatically. So I get my charger and put it on my chacha, the LED indicator turns red, indicate that it was charging. The problem happened here, I pulled out my charger before the charging process done and the LED indicator still lights red, I tried to turn on my chacha by press the power button and nothing happened, it still off and LED lamp still lights red. The only way thing to fixed is by pull out the battery then put it back, my chacha back to normal and I can turn it on again by pressing the power button.
I guess this problem was caused by unlocked bootloader and rooted, does anybody here have some similar problem like me? I haven't try to revert back my chacha to original state (locked and unroot) so I still confusing what's caused this issue.
If my story is too long I can explain it in simple way, maybe like this :
I got an issue with my chacha, that is my chacha goes hang when charging it on powered-off, the LED lights red and if you pull out the charger the LED won't off and still lights red. The only way thing to fix this is by pull out the battery. That problem didn't happen when the phone is charging on powered-on. I guess this caused by unlocking and rooting.
Sorry for the long post and please be advised for my bad english
UPDATE
Problem solved, the solution is update cwm to the latest version. Use fasboot mode to flash the old cwm with the new one.
Update your CWM to the latest version. This problem has been discussed in the CWM thread and it is fixed.

Thanks Alex, could you give me the link about it?
Hmm.. silly question, if I want an OTA update is that mean I must flash my chacha back to stock rom, install the OTA updates and then root it again? Flash back to the stock rom will cause root status back to unroot, right?
1. It's the CWM thread in dev section.
2. Yes.
Problem solved, thanks to Alex. :good:
I updated my cwm with the latest version (5.0.2.8) and no more charging problem when poweredoff again, yey...

Ok so yesterday my battery went died while I was doing a factory reset. By died I mean like how it completely dies and you can't turn the phone on and when you plug the charger in the LED light blinks orange 11 times and stops. But anyways I revived the battery thanks to a member on here. So now when I turn my phone on, it shows the white background with the green HTC letters and stays there for 10 minutes, then shuts off. I can go into HBOOT and CWM and everything but it doesn't let me past the boot screen. I've done a factory reset and everything. Even installed a new ROM. Nothing has worked. Can anyone help me please? Thanks .
looks like you will have to install an RUU, then re-do everything (s-off, root, cwm)
thats worked for a couple users ive helped with a similar problem
just make sure you have superCID, or use a regional RUU
You wont loose S-Off by running an RUU as you need to set the securityflags manually to 3 to get S-On.
So, you'll just loose root and CWM.
You don't need SuperCID though, if you want your Stock ROM, you can stay on your Stock CID and install your RUU.

any luck on this??? i jacked mine up trying to flash a new firmware and am stuck in the same boat with my sensation being completely unresponsive.
You could factory reset it:
From the manual:
If you can’t turn HTC Sensation 4G on or access settings, you can still perform a factory reset by using the hardware buttons on HTC Sensation 4G.
1. Remove the battery, wait for a few seconds, then reinsert the battery.
2. Press and hold the VOLUME DOWN button, and then briefly press the POWER button.
3. Wait for the screen with the three Android images to appear, and then release the VOLUME DOWN button.
4. Press VOLUME DOWN to select FACTORY RESET, and then press the POWER button."

It was stated that he can't access the bootloader, which is what is required for the "FACTORY RESET"...
There are a number of people reporting this issue. I've even experienced the issue after the device powered down due to a drained battery. Luckily I have a stand alone charger. I put the battery on the charger for about 15 minutes, put it back in the device and it was able to boot, charge, connect usb etc...
I tried for 20 minutes to get any response from the device before trying the charger.
No charging LED isn't a good sign.
There seem to be more and more people reporting with this problem these last few weeks. IT happened with mine....it was not battery drained cuz it went dead when battery was 100% charged. I've been trying to get input as to whether this is related to ROM or firmware we're flashing....but no one seem to know.
Nothing will work...ADB...battery out...etc...I've sent my phone back to HTC...waiting to see what happens.
There are at least 3-4 different post with the same problem the past few weeks.

Well what i did was that i had a brand new sensation, i got it s-offed, rooted, cwm, superCID. all that done following the guide here on XDA. i wanted to have the new elegancia ICS rom which required the 3.32 firmware with the 4ext recovery. I got the 4ext flashed and then flashed the 3.32 firmware which caused a bootloop. then i panicked and tried to put it back to stock. not realizing that it was prolly bootlooping due the stock rom not being compatible with that firmware (not positive if that caused the bootloop. just a guess) it bricked after trying to put it back to stock. nothing responds. computer doesnt recognize it. new battery doesnt to anything. no charging led. looking back on what i did. I was still able to get into the 4ext recovery when it was bootlooping. If i flashed a compatible rom while it was doing that would it have fixed the issue. can anyone confirm if the bootloop was caused due the the stock TMOUSA rom not being compatible with 3.32? Tmobile is going to send me a brand new one. I'd like that rom but dont wanna repeat the same mistake lol
Thanks

WEll..if your phone lights up or have some response.maybe you can still do something by connecting to computer. Mine was completely unresponsive...and can't be detected on computer!
Maybe it's an overclock issue? I've read on different threads that there may be a motherboard issue. The sensation is known for overheating. Maybe it's frying the motherboard.
What frequency were you guys running and was your phones randomly shutting down before it became unresponsive?
i think we guyz got the same problem :S its just turned off with a constant beep

I tried flashing my unlocked Orange Sensation and now it does not show any sign of life: I can't turn it on, no light from the LED indicator when charging it.
I removed the battery several time and put it back then tried power it on without any luck, here what I did before:
I followed this tutorial and S-OFF,installed ClockworkMod Recovery, and rooted it all successfully.
After that I tried flashing if using Sensation_3.32.401.5_deodexed from this thread, but the phone kept restarting showing HTC logo screen.
Then I read that I need to super-cid my phone since it was from Orange. I did that using Auto Super-Cid Script By Pavelol v3, again the phone kept restarting showing HTC logo screen.
Finally, I successfully installed Firmware from 3.32.401.x & 3.32.401.10x RUU in this thread, then reboot, BAM phone is dead!
I don't know what I did wrong, but it should not kill my phone!
I looked at previous threads but there is no clear cause or solution.
Help me pleeeeez

Well, you certainly bricked your phone by installing the ROM before upgrading the firmware or superCID your phone..
First of all, there's no need to superCID just because you are on Orange, you could have downloaded the suitable firmware from mike's thread. Then again you should have done it before trying to install the ROM. That's what you probably have done wrong.
Now as per the solution, refer to the following threads..I guess they will help you

I would try that if the phone would power on
My problem now is that the phone can't be turned on. I press the power button nothing happens, I connect it to the charger but charging LED not lighting.
I connect it to my PC but it can not detect the phone at all because it is not turned on.

You don't need to be able to fully turn your phone on in order to access the recovery and bootloader. Charge the phone for a while, even if no LED is showing. Reflash the 3.32 firmware if you can access the bootloader. Flash VI through recovery. Observe.

I charged the phone with no LED indicating its being charged, pressed the power button and nothing happened. The phone can't be powered at all.
I think you need to take it to repair shop, to un-break it they need to replace a part on your htc using JTAG.
This will cost you alot of money.

Already did that
I've already removed the battery and replaced it many times without any luck.
Try to take to a local HTC repair center. If You have any kind of proof of purchase, they have to repair it under warranty according to the IMEI no.
I succesfully got my phone back in this way. Just don't tell them what You did, only that it won't turn on.
Good luck!
I will take it to HTC repair center, unfortunately I lost its papers so I'll have to pay for the repair
I had the same problem...phone won't turn on and unresponsive. Not sure if it's ROM related....it happened after I installed the new revolution ROM...but everything seem to go fine and was able to boot to the new ROM...then when using for call it had a long beep tone and just turned off and never turned on again.
So I am waiting for repair from HTC as well...hopefully they will replace it as well. Do you think yours is a hardware problem? I am glad they replaced yours even it was rooted.. I am hoping they can't turn on and had no choice and way to know it was roooted!

Indeed! Same hapened to me. It was mainboard failure. They couldn't turn it on.
Bad side it has latest stock rom with HBOOT 1.27.0000, and still no way to unlock bootloader, rooting and S-OFF.
HTC repair center says that the motherboard need to be changed and it will cost me about 235$! I found out while searching that many experience this problem.
I tried to find a replacement but almost all my search result is about the upper PCB with motherboard flex cable which is leftover of people buying motherboards.
HTC has problems with motherboards with several models also.
I hate HTC, I will not buy any HTC again.
try contact your dealer, and ask if he can find the tickets?
Hey man, try jumpstarting your phone by taking out the battery and plugging it in the wall, try turning it on while it is directly connected?
This is a know issue. You have hard bricked your device. I did it too. If you have warranty, there is no way HTC can detect a modified device and they will replace the motherboard for you like they did for me, free of charge. If you don't have warranty thankfully there is now a relatively simple way to fix this:
Just follow this guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1522351
Note: This will fix only devices which were bricked by turning S ON. And bricks caused by a damaged hboot via interrupted OTA update/RUU flash on a S-ON device. Any devices bricked with other ways are currently *not* supported. We are working on it

My case is that I've installed a ROM before updating the firmware, anyway I have tried it and it won't work with me.
Anybody can explain this to me?
I don't know how flashing a ROM before upgrading the firmware can damage my motherboard ! Anybody can explain this to me?
I did many crazy things with Samsung and Huawei and those never hurt the hardware
So, I have a friend's HTC Desire S with me, which won't boot and all it does is 7 vibrations (Fastboot, normal boot). I've searched through this forum as well as the web and found no serious soultion offered. Some say to place the mobile in a fridge and some to put it inside owen. The solutions offered are pretty old, so I'm just checking if there's a permanent solution for this 7 vibration and nothing happens issue. The phone was bricked when an official upgrade from GB to ICS was announced some months before. The update was complete and when my friend removed the usb from the mobile, it bricked. Any help would be much appreciated.
Can you get it into fastboot, can you get adb to recognise it?

I have been facing problem ! I was upgrading my htc desire s to ICS which was previously running on gingerbread. I had downloaded the RUU from htc dev website. The PC is unable to detect it and I'm not able to charge it.. (the LED won't turn on). I also tried to turn it on by holding the power button and the volume down button together but it still won't turn on. Is there anything I can try before I send it to the htc service center ? Is it fixable at all ? The phone was in perfect condition before I tried to upgrade it. I would really appreciate any help in this regard..

Hello everyone,
First of all sorry if what am about posting had already been discussed, I just couldn't find it. My device has been behaving weirdly recently. It all started by it turning off randomly when I flashed the JellyBean 4.2 custom ROM by albinoman. And each time I turned it back on it showed a battery percentage that was either smaller or bigger than what was there before. I decided to move back to Revolution theme but the same issue persisted. Now, my phone can't go pass the Beats Audio logo when it turns on, but stops and goes off. If I try turning it on again it wount untill I remove the battery, wait like 15secs and put it back again. When I plug in the charger, the LED comes on, goes off and comes on again after 5secs or so...just assuming that. Please if anyone out there could help me out I'll be absolutely grateful , please...

if you have universal firmware as you said then you are on S-OFF
follow this
format all partitoins except sdcard from 4ext
flash the rom
if it doesn't boot then flash the boot.img of the rom via fastboot command
the command is fastboot flash boot boot.img

Little issue is, its getting worse everyday. A couple of days ago I could still turn on the phone and get to the recovery but now it wount even turn on or charge anymore. Could it be my battery is dead?. Cuz it started behaving weirdly recently...like when the phone rebooted it showed a far different battery percentage either lower or upper. Then one day it showed grey with an exclamation sign on it. Then when I plugged in the charger, the LED turned on, then off and then on again and went straight to green, like it charged faster. Thanks for your help, I just hope my phone aint just good for the trash
Try with a new battery.
