HTC ChaCha For Sale. - HTC ChaCha

Dear ChaCha users,
After careful consideration:
I am officially ending my support for all HTC ChaCha ROMS I have created, i think that it is the right time to finish off the ChaCha Kitchen and let the ICS Developers do their business.
I have been part of the development of this handset, right from the beginning - the release of SuperDroid.
It has been a pleasure, helping users of this thread and now I shall continue my work in another part of XDA. More specifically the development of WP7.5 and Windows 8.
My handset is up for sale in the United Kingdom with the bootloader unlocked and the standard ROM installed. No need for bidding as B.I.N on Ebay:

Yes, they ceased trading in September. Most of their products were rebadged HTC machines. When HTC decided to sell machines under their own brand, the middlemen were left high and dry. Support will have to come from this site, under the relevent HTC model, or try a stock ROM from another telco for the same device.
i-Mate was quite a large company, but things move pretty fast in this arena, and Dubai is not the place to get into money troubles at the moment..........

"Thank you for contacting HTC regarding your mobile phone HTC Desire S.
I understand that you wish to know if your phone will get an update to unlock the Bootloader.
We’re pleased to announce that we have heard everyone’s comments and constructive suggestions and have decided to go forward with this initiative. Currently we don’t have a schedule yet, but stay tuned; we will let you know via through our official website and official social media outlets.
Regarding which phones will be unlocked, currently we don’t have information but keep an eye on our official website and official social media outlets for announcements about which phones will be bootloader unlocked."
Sincerely,
Carola
HTC
So there you have it. HTC is gonna unlock bootloaders on existing phones, but no info is given regarding which phones will be unlocked, and when. Let's just keep our fingers crossed and hope that the Desire S receives an unlock soon. Keep an eye on their FB page people.
Its exactly the same answer that someone already posted here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=14217130&postcount=19
when it comes to getting answers from HTC support (regarding updates, schedules, etc) know that they can't be trusted...
anyone who have waited for hero update knows what i mean
Regarding which phone will be Unlock? If Desire S will never going to be in the list...I'll just sell this and get something else.
Officially, how many HTC Android phone has a locked bootloader?
pure marketing, i believe it when i see it...
Well, they wouldn't lie, i just hope it wont take much time
desire s is kindly new/fresh device, I believe it should get official unlocked bootloader soon =)

HTCDev response

I went to htcdev's site and clicked the feedback button a few days back.
I simply asked when AT&T HTC One X (a.k.a Elite) kernel source would be released and if/when unlocked bootloaders would be available.
Got the following response today.

Thank you Bryan for contacting HTC Technical Support. I understand you're inquiring about unlocking the bootloader and releasing the kernel source for your HTC One X. I am more than happy to be able to provide some clarity to the situation at hand.
HTC is committed to assisting customers in unlocking bootloaders for HTC devices. However, certain models may not be unlockable due to operator restrictions. Please refer to our list of supported devices to see if your device is eligible for unlocking the bootloader. http://htcdev.com/bootloader/
HTC will typically publish on http://developer.htc.com or htcdev.com the Kernel open source code for recently released devices as soon as possible. HTC will normally publish this within 90 to 120 days. This time frame is within the requirements of the open source community.
Feel free to reply should you have any further questions. If you feel more comfortable discussing issues by phone, you can contact Technical Support at 1-866-449-8358, 6 am to 1 am EST, 7 days a week.

Granted this response is pretty generic. All device manufacturers have a time limit (60, 90, 120 days after release), but sometimes are nice *cough*galaxy note*cough*... and release code before the phone even releases.
Compared to my experience with other device manufactures, htc's response time and the response itself were pretty good.
And I'm sure a few hundred users for just this device, as well as other devices without source and unlocked bl are also hitting htcdev's customer facing feedback/support. So I'm posting this here so you don't have to go ask them the same exact question
If the AT&T HTC One X is one of the "certain models [that] may not be unlockable due to operator restrictions.", we will have to give lots of thanks to the RDs and Senior Members working on this, and donate to them if you can! So instead of bugging htc about the bootloaders, you should be pointing that at AT&T/Rogers/etc...
I personally don't know enough about htc bl unlocking, but am stoked for kernel source to drop

yea but without being unlocked kernel source doesnt help very much.
and its att, rogers doesnt cripple phones anymore...mines unlocked.
Sent from my HTC One XL using xda premium
I went to HTC's site and there are over 30 versions of the source code for download on the One X....just not for ATT...so it seems HTC is not the problem...sounds typical of att though...the kernal for T-Mobile version is already out..(One S)..I'm going to call and send email to att...might even threaten to cancel..one call won't help a lot but if a lot of calls come in then who knows...att claims to be ALL about customer satisfaction...

This same thing (slightly different verbiage) was already posted multiple times (about locked bootloader) This is same response they gave Paul, posted here (XDA), at Engadget and others.
"HTC is committed to listening to users and delivering customer satisfaction. Since announcing our commitment to unlockable bootloaders, HTC has worked to enable our customers to unlock the bootloader on more than 45 devices over the past six months. In some cases, however, restrictions prevent certain devices from participating in our bootloader unlocking program. Rest assured, HTC is committed to assisting developers in unlocking bootloaders for HTC devices and we'll continue to unlock additional devices in the future."
Kernel source does no good until we can use it....

I agree. I was making a point that htc seems responsive.
The problem is with AT&T/Rogers/etc.
I didn't post this as 'bleeding edge news'. I pm'd you the same.
Everyone talks about htcdev unlock, I was trying to also make a point that it may not be up to htc if the bootloaders become unlocked. So support your local bootloader unlocking dev.
Sorry for any confusion, I thought it read clear when I clicked `post'.

[PROTEST] [ONE S] [S4] Email to protest and information on HTC Sense 5 Update

I HAVE THOUGHT ABOUT THAT IS NOT SHUT UP GET NOTHING. ALWAYS BEEN JUST AS I AM CONVINCED THAT WHEN AN INJUSTICE WE MUST FIGHT.
I AM SURE THAT THE UNION IS STRENGTH AND THAT A SINGLE MOVE A STONE, A GROUP MOVE A MOUNTAIN.
I HAVE SENT AN E-MAIL TO HTC, WHERE TO ASK QUESTIONS AND WHERE I LAMENT THE PROBABLE FAILURE UPDATE TO THE SENSE 5, EXPLAINING THAT WE HAVE ALSO PAID THE OUR TERMINALS AND ALSO WE HAVE THE RIGHT TO UPDATE.
This is the translated text of my email:
HTC EMAIL CONTACT
I kindly news about the release of Android 4.2.2 for HTC Sense 5 One S snapdragon s4.
I would like all users YOUR One S users, have official explanations, in the light of the sun about this update, which apparently will be released one day and the next day not.
We are like other users, such as those that currently have chosen Htc One X and X +, we paid our terminals like the others and most of us choose HTC because fans of the brand and fascinated by your terminal.
We stand out from the crowd, which tends to cause relentless advertising campaigns to follow the fashion and buy competitive products (usually Samsung) but we want to be updated because I think it is our right to be.
We know it is not easy to design an efficient update in a short time, however we have seen that Android 4.2.2 has brought great improvements in performance and battery life in other models like HTC One X One X+. So, why it is impossible to provide it even on HTC One S? The One S has a still recent hardware so it should be fully compatible with Android 4.2.2.
I think I can say without problems, attending various forums where we discuss htc One S in general and in particular, that the majority of users of One S abandon the brand, many say "never again htc, I will turn to other" their for this reason.
I hope I am wrong and I offer my most sincere apologies if there should be the update (and I hope so), but the story of '"update, no update", it creates a lot of discontent and especially begins to tire YOUR users.
Thank you for your attention, I am hoping for your reply, I offer you my greetings.
HTC One S user

Many users in the One S Android Development section are trying to give us, however, the Sense 5 fully functional.
I am not being able to contribute, but for not to feel useless I decided to give my contribution in this way.

[WEBSITE] Root-Me: Free Android rooting guides.

Hi there!
I recently rooted my Nexus 7 (2012) after having a 2 year period of not rooting due to my previous experience trying to root my HTC Desire S. Anyway, when I was looking to root my Nexus 7 and my Desire S, I found it difficult to decided upon which site I should go to.
So, I decided to come up with a website, a universal centre where people can go to to get accurate guides on how to Unlock, Flash Custom Recoveries and Root their devices, alone with simple and detailed explanations as to what each term is (including Custom ROM's). The intention is that people can visit that site and get all the help needed without having to go to any other site first to see what to do, only to find it too complex and end up breaking their devices.
The website is two days old (as of 17/12/2013 UK) so is still quite rough round the edges, but I plan to give guides for all popular Android devices (and the HTC HD2). Currently, the only supported device is the HTC One (Google Play and Sense), but I plan to support all major devices released by major manufacturers, and keep them up to date.
I would appreciate any guidance on how I could improve the site further (other than including more devices). For those interested, the URL is *****MOD EDIT (This is temporary domain. I will buy a proper one when the site launches or when I get a bank account when I'm 16 next year.)
Thanks,
JJE990
