I was messing around with the phone to try to get some gameloft games to work and I accidentally changed something in the build.prop file and saved it. I don't remember what I changed either. I was wondering if anyone could post the stock build.prop for the One S T-Mobile version. Thanks.
EDIT: Better yet, could someone just post what these four were:
ro.product.model=
ro.product.brand=
ro.product.device=
ro.product.manufacturer=
When ever u change the build prop the phone makes a back up of the original just delete the edited on and rename the back up to build.prop

I did back it up...but then I ended up changing both files. Don't ask me how; I don't even know how I managed to do something that stupid.
I'm pretty sure one of them is something like HTC VLE_U. Can someone please check? Thank you.

Do you know where the backed up build.prop is stored on the phone's system? My problem is that whenever I change the fast dormancy setting, after restarting the phone, it goes back to the old setting.
Thanks!
It should be stored in system, too...and it should be named build.prop.bak
The second thing could be the stock kernel. If you flash any custom kernel, the problem will be solved. Or flash the init.d zip in recovery.

Okay, so I have been able to get a bootanimation.zip that i want. I placed it in /data/local... I reboot and it still shows the old swirling Samsung logo...But it does play my custom boot sound (awesome)... I haven't really seen any SGS4G specific threads...and the ones to other phones kind of run me in circles. Not looking for a hand out, just a heading...any idea? Something im PROBABLY missing...
Oh and i gave the bootanimation.zip god privileges...not sure if it matters
Running on 2.3.5 KI3 from Octiane V2.0 (awesome ROM BTW)
at the moment our gingerbread kernels do not support custom boot animations. I'm sure once we have a source to work with, will have full support.

OK first try with this app. I rooted my girls stock gingerbread droidx (if u need help rooting it stock gb droid x u can email me.)then u can download root toolbox and they have a section for boot animation, select one u like and install it. with this app u can even change splash screen and battery icon but for icon u will need pro version. u can just go to ipmart and download it for gree. anyways..... if this does not work u will have to do it manually which may seem scary but its quite simple. first get the bootanimation.zip u want and rename it(if u r with verizon) VZW_bootanimation.zip then download super explorer and then go to ur phones internal system /custom/reasourses and first want to go to that location and copy past the original bootanimation of phone and save to soundcard incase u want to change back to it in system/customize/reasourses and delete ,it will be names VZW_bootanimation.zip. now the custom animation can be added. go copy the custom animation go back to system/customize/reasourses and paste new animation a boom it will work I promise. note if for some reason when u restart phone and no animation is there dont worry nothing is broken the animation isn't allay compatible so just find another on and follow all the steps again minus saving the boot u had added u can just delete it.. now what I desperetly need help with is adding custom sound. I have tried many different thing with no results but negative. ive tried deleting the old sound file and renamwd new sound as old one and placed in system/customize/reasourses no sound , I even went into system/customize/cd/default.xml and changes the writing that tells the system when to play music to autostart="part0" /> no go ,="part1" /> no go. neither worked. I even unzipped the bootanimation.zip and renamed the folder VZW and changed back autostart="VZW" ect which was the original setting and no go. ive tried renaming file and placing it in system/media and pasteing no go, ive tried copying file and pasteing it in system/meadia/notification like some direction have said and no go. im at a lose of what to do. I have a thunderbolt running stock gb and want to customize the sound for bootanimation so if anyone can help please email me [email protected]. thanku and I await ur response

Considering this is for the Samsung galaxy s 4g, you technically are in the wrong forum. Our phones use a qmg file for animations as far.as I know, so bootanimations.zip will not work, I've already tried the method you posted, without success.
Sent from my SGH-T959V using xda premium
there's a few custom ones in the theme section. You just have to push all the files manually.
Sent from my SGH-T959V using Tapatalk
then its quite simple just rename ur new bootanimation exactally as ur old one a boom there u go. its not that difficult and if that doesnt work try something simple and download romtoolbox and install if from therr. if it works on the droid x it should that one
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA App
also u probably not only have to name it correctly u may have to try androidzip and change it to that kind of file type if not that do so on ur computer. were Theres a will Theres a way. also make sure ur permissions r correct

I will try that. If the qmg file is truly a zip file with its own custom file extension, then it should work, if its not, then it will display nothing. I'll back up just in case, but I was told by a developer on this phone (I believe raver), that it wasn't supported by the kernel.
Sent from my SGH-T959V using xda premium
Let me know if that works, i'm out for a few days...I'll try when I get home. However, the second response to my post was that it's unsupported... But if there is a work around, that would be sweet.

hey rabid panda how did u get your custom boot sound to work thats what i am trying to do with mine but it doesnt play.
it's pretty easy, just take the wave file that you want to use and move it to /etc. rename it poweron.wav and reboot...all Done
you might want to make sure the permissions are set...I just checked all of mine.

Rename your wavfile to PowerOn.wav and push to system/etc
Make sure you name it exactly PowerOn.wav, matching the upper case P and O is necessary to make it work.
Edit:Got beat to the punch by a Rabid Panda lol
thats the problem im having i did that but no sound when i turn it off the shutoff sound works did i do something wrong
Sniper
try a smaller lower quality sound file... mine are no more than 16hz

How.does.one go about changing the boot animations on the skyrocket?
On my last device (atrix ) it was as simple as dropping your bootanimation.zip in /system/media and rebooting.
Will someone please enlighten me here?

Really no one??
I see that custom kernels have custom animations. Surely someone around here knows.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using XDA App
you are rite its system>media and paste it there. But the file name should be sanim.zip unless u are using cm7.
Thanks appdroid. I looked in /system/media again and all I see area bunch of .qmg files
The only relevant one I see is bootsamsung.qmg
I'm confused since I don't see sanim.zip
I'm using faux.kernel which has a custom boot animation so wouldn't I see sanim.zip there??
I'm on quickwiz rom btw but it was the same on stock
Edit....
NM it worked! Thx appdroid

Faux Kernel supports custom bootanimation, which means if you go and download a bootanimation from somewhere, rename it sanim.zip, and put it in system/media then your skyrocket will boot with that animation.
Will this kernel support changing boot animation?
Hey appdroid,
After reading a ton of your posts re: rooting guides, I upgraded to ICS and rooted my skyrocket. THANKS A MILLION!! BTW, I'm a very green noob, so...
Anyhow,
My kernel says: 3.0.8-perf-i727UCALC4-CL240689 [email protected] #1
Do not have any idea what exactly that means, but I rooted using CWM and superuser.
I would love to get rid of the AT&T boot animation. I downloaded ES File Explorer and am unable to find the media folder?
Off the top of your head, will my kernel supposrt changing the boot animation
and
What am I missing re: file manager finding the media folder?
Thanks
kinda on topic here, does the skyrocket have the att bootloader and kernel splashes like the cappy did? i ask because i just ordered a skyrocket and want to do as much research as possible and felt like piggy backing off his post since my question isnt worthy of its own thread lol.

You can change the bootanimation if you have flashed mohan or romracers ics kernel.
And my kernel info says the same(im on romracer) but romracers kernel is basically stock with a few tweaks so make sure you flash kernel before trying

Yes it does but its easily changed. I usually just find a bootanimation that is cwm flashable. Thats the easy way for me. As i said before one of the two kernels need to be flashed

Stock ICS/GB, Custom ROM, etc? Also, you can find it inside the flashable .zip of the ROM you have flashed. Look in /system/app. You may also need an .odex file along with it if you broke that too.
I'm running oICSv43. I looked in the rom using root explorer and couldn't find it. that was the first thing I tried. I"m not a total noob but dont know what i did to lose it. I wanted to ask for it here before reflashing.

Can this Harbb be applied if I want the GB camera or let's say phone app from GB to ICS ? and what if I rename the .apk file to another name so I would not loose the origianl ICS app ? name the .odex file with the same new name but .odex ?
I don't know enough about Smali or Android's app system to say. However I'm a firm believe in "there's one way to find out"
Just do a backup beforehand and try it out.

I've searched, but my questions hasn't been answered for a while, so i would like to know 2 things,
Im using room tool box, and before i touch anything I would like to know if i can safely edit the build.prop
or do i have to do this before hand? "View comment below taken from a dpi thread"

If you're curious, you can make a CWM-flashable zip with your default build.prop in it and try out some different settings. If you bootloop, flash the stock build.prop and all is better.

How could i Build Something like this?
Ok, so I was looking through the Rezound Beats post in the development section, and I am super confused. I saw the original post and wanted to download it but then I read about in call volume problems so I scrolled through and found a bunch of differnt versions and build.prop edits. I recently got this phone and so do not know much about this stuff and really do not want to brick my phone.
My question lol: Which file from the Rezound Beats post can I flash on my rooted Galaxy S2 LTE with Rogers running Embryo ICS 5.3?
Thanks a lot in advance!

you can make the BP tweak using a file manager with mount as writable option i Use ROM toolboxPro cuz its eazier for me Just copy and paste and then save..
There is already an exising line that ends with the word "endfire" this is where the tweak must be done
Is the build.prop edit necessary? If it I do I just copy paste it at the end of the current build.prop or does it replace something in the current build.prop?
Also do I use the build.prop edit in the OP?

you have to change the lines in the build prop delete the lines
"persist.audio.fluence.mode=endfire"
"persist.audio.vr.enable=false"
and then add the new build prop Line by line making sure nothing is combined.
