[Q] ZTE merit Net10 - General Questions and Answers

Is it truly unlimited and does it have a wifi hotspot on it? I was wondering as there really isn't anything in my area that is truly unlimited and is highspeed. I know net10 doesn't support tethering for low end phones but though maybe an android phone would be different. If anyone has this phone and is on net10 or straight talk if you could let me know that would be great.

I realize this.is. an old post. But im gonna answer the.question anyway.
The."unlimited" lasts somewhere between 2-4 gigs of data then it.slows.to a.craw. my data whent from 3-4mb/s down to 120kb/s and.stayed that way till i refilled my card. When i asked net 10 about it. They said.i violated a couple sections. And wouldnt give me a stait.answer. so that is my experiece with unlimited.
As for the.hotspot yes just look in the.market i have used.them and.they work. Some dont even require root!

Bump,, still need your knowledge!
It's not possible to do what you want or to be running GB on a non-rooted phone.

I don't know about how to get around the data plan, but I don't think you can be running Gingerbread not rooted.
Its all about luck, i bought an iphone from ebay and used it without a data plan for 6months, then i sold it and bought htc aria, within one hour of inserting a sim i received a message from att that we have added a data plan for your smarphone
Sent from my Inspire 4G using XDA App

i think you guys misunderstood me, i edited the post so it makes more sense.
i wanna know if i can get her full internet access on her phone without having to change her ad on feature.
thanks.
You should be able to use wifi for free without a data plan. Menu > Settings > Wireless and Networks, just trun on wifi and you can download as much as you want. You just can't use 3g/4g without a data plan unless I'm mistaken.

not true, she has a data ad on her account right now (thats how she was getting data on her flip phone)
i was hoping a dedicated way around it not just utilizing wifi.
i use to get full data on my n95 with "tzone" back in the day. and i was only paying 6 bucks a month and got unlimited internet and 3g
i know there is a way around it, just need to ask the right person

So, what you think is that all of us are too stupid to know about a way to get free data if there was one? Our phones are rooted, hacked, Undervolted, OC'd and modified to death. But for some reason we all missed the free interwebz..... ........more dot.......Dots.......some dots againz...
She is on a smart phone now. It can download easily 5 and 6 gigs a month. ATT isn't going to let you do it for free.... And the data plans aren't just 30 bux. There are 15, 25, and 35.. Each for certain types of users. 15 is 200mb, 25 is 2000mb, 35 is tether and 4000mb
Those are your choices. Notice free is not one of them.
wow

There is not a whine in the post. Just facts.
1. You think ppl are stoopid.
2. You want free.
3. You aren't gonna get it.
4. The only douche is you. Not once did I criticize you. You can't even comprehend what you read.
Whine example;
waaaa. I want free interwebz, waaaaa.
See the difference?
P.S. Now I'm making fun of you, more so then criticizing. Just in case your comprehension skillz still haven't kicked in.

AT&T Unlimited Data?

I just switched to AT&T from sprint and I love that I can actually stream a netflix video now. But with streaming comes a lot of data usage. I am currently on the 3GB plan. I was just wondering if there is any way to get into a AT&T unlimited plan. I know an AT&T employee with unlimited...guess its a perk, but I was wondering if anyone knew any work arounds.
I have researched and found a iphone 2g method that looks like it might work IDK. I have a Samsung Galaxy S II.
Anyone that could shed some light please do, thanks!
The only legit way that I know of is to be grandfathered in to the unlimited plan. I.E. you had unlimited data with them before they turned it off.
I used the 2g iphone method back in late November and it worked. Should still work, not sure though. And it's perfectly legal as far as I know.
I dont have an iphone nor do I have any kind of sim card knowledge. This is my first GSM network...is there any way to buy a simcard that would give me unlimited?
No, maybe u can borrow someone's iPhone 2g or buy one and sell it back. Its worth it IMO. There's even ppl on eBay that do it for u for $30 with no negative reviews at all. But that's up to u if u wanna take the risk.

So if I do buy a iphone 2G how exactly does it work? Can I use the sim card in my Galaxy S II or do I have to get a new sim card?
You need a 3G SIM card for the newer phones whereas I don't believe the iPhone 2 was 3g at all.
Your SIM card should work in it.
I believe the iPhone 2G loophole has been closed.
Not to be a negative nancy, but some users are reporting throttling at 2.1, even 1.6gb of use on AT&T's unlimited plan... might be more beneficial to keep the 3GB plan right now!
Oh, that sucks. Yes the the throttling thing is kind of getting out of hand. I got the message at the end of the month saying I was in the top 5% heavy data users, and subject to throttling, but I only used 2 gb! I guess its just one way for ATT to stick it to those with unlimited.
Btw is there someone or a link that can confirm that the loophole has been closed?

They kind of did this really well, though, if you think about it.
They announced throttling and got rid of unlimited. Now the majority of people are on limited data, so the few on unlimited ARE the top 5% of data users given that the average plan is a 2GB data plan.
So you're kinda screwed.
The throttling by AT&T is rediculous. I was grandfathered in to the unlimited data plan, and I think it is BS that they throttle me back after using about 2 GB. I stream a lot if Sirius/XM radio so my data gets used up quick. I wish I could find a way to prove that it is against my contract. I have already filed a complaint to the FCC about AT&T back when they were harassing me about tethering and saying that docking my phone to my truck stereo was tethering.
i have att as far as i know there is nothing like that.
Well guess I will hold of for now then. The fact that they throttle is understandable to me but when they throttle you so soon and slow you down so much it seems like there should be something done about it.
Yes they only say unlimited data and dont promise any certain speed but I dont think they should be able to throttle you below 1.5Mbps because once you go so low it is basically cutting off your internet anyway. As it is now it looks like they could technically only give you a .1mbps data connection and get away with it because you still have unlimited data...

[Q] Smartphone without data plan (not what you guys think)

This isn't asking about it. I know AT&T's rules which is why I posted this. I just figured I would ask this one because I can't find a story like it. I got my girlfriend a GS2 and she had a non-smartphone unlimited data plan. Her and I knew this would add a minimum smartphone plan for 300mb via AT&T and accepted it. She got a text the day about it being added after I put the sim in and it told her a data plan would be added. She used the phone while awaiting the bill to come to her mom before she told her about having a different phone (as she was going to pay for the data difference once her mom found out). About a week ago, her data turned off, but her sim remains in the phone and just doesn't allow internet unless she is on wifi. Is it possible that AT&T turned off data? I'm sure that if her mom got the bill and didn't know, she may have called AT&T to tell them to take it off because her daughter doesn't have a smartphone. I've never heard of this before. It isn't a problem because she would have rather had it this way anyway, but we didn't expect it to happen like this. Anyone else have an idea of whats going? She is running task650's JB 4.1.1 and the phone is was unlocked by me. This is just out of curiosity because as I said before, she would have done this if she could, but we all know that data plans are required on non smartphones.

[Q] Hot spot/tethering

Hello guys,
If this thread is in the wrong place then I do apologise, anyway...
I have a Nexus 7 and I want to be able to connect to the internet when I am not in a Wi-Fi area. To do this I use the hotspot feature on my iPhone. Does anyone know if this costs money?
Thanks in advanced
Rob
Like Sewrizer said you should call your carrier and check with them. I also heard of apps that will allow you to hide the fact that you are tethering... but not sure how effective that is.
For me I'm on an unlimited plan and the carrier doesn't care if I tether or not. I never understood why carriers charge more for tethering anyways, especially for limited plans. If I'm paying for a 10 GB plan, then I should be able to use that 10 GB however I want!

WiFi Tethering with Verizon

Hi all, I hope I'm posting this in the correct area. I haven't been on XDA in quite a while as I've given up on rooting etc. But I'm thinking about coming back to rooting so I can use my phone as a hotspot for more than just the 15 GB of Hotspot data Verizon allows me.
Okay, so I'm wondering if it's still possible to root your phone and use it as a tethering device unlimited with Verizon. Right now I have an unlimited plan one of those Beyond plans with Verizon but I only get 15 gigabytes of tethering data. I'm getting ready to move to an area that has really crappy internet speeds but Verizon speeds are phenomenal. I was getting anywhere between 70 megabytes of download speed 230 megabits of download speed just on my phone. so I'm wondering if it's possible for me to use my phone as a modem for all of my devices in my home and be able to use it with unlimited data?
Also if there is a better carrier out there that is easier to do this with I would love some info. I thought about something like Straight Talk but haven't looked into it much. All of my devices are unlocked so they're not tied down to any particular carrier. Thanks in advance for your help.
