While messing around in task killer, I saw I only have around 600MB active. Is this common? I know I should have a total of 1024, right? Or is that just how it works?

Some RAM isn't available to the user, it's saved for the system (kernel, cam etc), so it's normal.
But I think I read somewhere that ~700MB should be available to the user on both One X (international and at&t/Rogers)

Do you guys remember the droid 2 I found a while back? I installed GB 2.3.3 on it and was thinking of using it as a mobile minipc so to speak. wifi only. It has 16gb internal total memory and storage. It's blank.. don't know what happened to it there is no number to call whatsoever. So I wiped it clean and loaded gb 2.3.3 on it for fun browsing at home and hotspots. Is there an app for permanent flight mode too? I foind it very useful in saving battery and using only the wifi feature on it.
edit: ooops wrong section. please move.
What do you meen by is it good enough?

Good enough to keep this in the general section.

Yeah, I've been using it on wifi only since it is not compatible with my t-mobile plan/phone. It rocks my world let me tellya. the technology behind it just is awesome! 8gb memory and the cpu! I can play any game! lol
Hi there.
I'm abit confused wirh my Xoom. The specifications say that it should
have 1Gb ram. But when looking in the applications manager,
Settings -> Applications -> Manage applications
I'm never able to see it all. The memory usage and free
memory always sums up to 528Mb of total memory.
Not sure if this is the same thing as total ram. But somehow
I feel abot fooled. Could someone please shed some light
on this. And tell me I'm doing it wrong.

I recently installed system tuner pro, and it appears that my second code is not automatically running.
Is this true?
Do we need to activate the second core in order for it to work?
Sorry if this is a stupid question...

Thats weird. I just downloaded the free version on the market and Im gettin the same thing. Its not recognizing the 2nd core at all. I went to phone info in system tuner's settings and its not showing either. It must be some glitch in the latest version of the app because I used to have that app about 1-2 months ago and it showed 2 running cores. But when I go to CPU Master Pro and my phones main settings about phone info it shows 2 cores. After I rebooted, of course. Before I rebooted though in CPU Master Pro it only showed 1 core, so for sure the apps messed up.
This should help http://www.tested.com/news/dual-core-vs-single-core-arm-what-does-an-extra-core-really-get-you/2337/
What ROM you running? Did you reboot your phone? Did you reinstall the app after you rebooted your phone? And why do you use/need System Tuner? Personally I didnt like the UI and I didnt really see the need for it. Not at all hating, just my 2 cents.
Actually...I had used system tuner on my wife's sensation when ics first leaked, the forums for her phone advised to use it to force the 2nd core online. So, early today I was bored and just thought I would install it on my g2x just to see if my second core was running, and it said it wasn't.
I am on cm7 latest Lang from baldguy or whatever.....when I enables the second core, I didn't notice any difference, so I uninstalled the app. Then posted here...lol
Thanks for the info

Ya until ICS or CM9 with the hardware acceleration, which actually utilizes both cores like it should, only when playing 3D games the dual cores makes a difference. And that's mostly using the GPU anyway.

Anyone know what Smith, cruiserpwrexprt and wiper app are?
They are using resources and I want to uninstall them.

Found under the Desire Threads
CruiserPwrExpert.apk is just a "useless" logging app that takes up system resources

And Smith is new name for HTC Loggers
HTCLoggers.apk is back in newer versions of sense as Smith.apk with different signatures. It is also using unix domain sockets instead of TCP ports.

I assume it would be safe to remove. I think il hunt these down and remove them too. Anything that contains the word 'logging' I do NOT like
Thanks... What about wiper

dude at this rate theres gunna be no ROM left lol
Check out my Rom slim fast and see what's left that's pretty much what's required for it to work but ill be posting an update with even less if you'd like to take a look at it later tonight
Something strange has just happened. The CruiserPwrExpert app tried to get SU rights on my phone. I just had the phone in standby laying in front of me when suddenly the display turned on. I unlocked the phone and saw the SU-Prompt just before it disappeared. Then in SuperSU there was a new entry for CruiserPwrExpert.
I'm using the Virtuous S-Series 1.3. This freaked me a little out and now I think about things like CarrierIQ etc.
What can I do? Am I stuck with my current Rom for good? I like to switch back and forth to roms but now I only have 2 more left wth. Are you worried about your limit now?

https://play.google.com/music/ Click the gear in the upper right corner and goto settings and deactivate your old roms/devices.
You can only deactivat 4 devices a year now

Whaaaaa? When? How did you hear this?

I just deleted 6 about a week ago. I would be amazed if google, what with previously being fairly public about wanting manufacturers to leave their roms unlocked, would impose a limit per year unless they made a way for those new roms to be detected as the same device...
IMEI? or is there some range of privacy concerns or technical issues related to this?
I heard this news yesterday and tried it out myself, I was able to deactivate 6 devices no problem, so either they switched it back or they haven't changed my account's limit yet, but try to deactivate them now, there's no downside. Either they haven't changed your account yet, or they have and you are using up your four now, as opposed to when you need to.

so for the moment - http://support.google.com/googleplay/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=2621412&topic=1663424&ctx=topic
hopefully either they will abandon this strategy (and not make it go the way of google movies) or they'll come up with a very clever way of getting around it.
I personally re-downloaded my entire collection and am back to storing them on my microSD card - less data to use, and no more worrying about activating/deactivating too many devices.
