Hi everyone i need someone help from expert.
From this post below it teach us how to root bluestack but i have a problem after step 3 i have no idea how to start adb and what is adb/
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=24194320&postcount=3
This is the step i not sure after step 3.
1. Paying attention to the guidelines above, place the following files in their correct location – this includes initrd-betahack.img, ramdisk.img, and system.img.
2. After finding your GUID and making the appropriate changes to BlueRegistryMOD.reg in 2(two) places, run the registry file.
3. Start/restart BlueStacks – go to the Start menu>type Start Bluestacks
4. Start adb on your computer
a. Connect to bluestacks - #adb connect 127.0.0.1:5555
b. Ensure you have root access - #adb root
i. You should get message: “adbd is already running as root”
c. Mount system as read/write - #adb remount
d. Remove ‘dummy’ superuser - #adb shell rm /system/xbin/su
e. Push x86 superuser to BlueStacks - #adb push su.x86 /system/xbin/su
i. su.x86 must be in the same Windows directory you are running in the console
f. Correct the permissions for superuser - #adb shell chmod 6711 /system/xbin/su
g. Remount system read only - #adb shell mount -o ro,remount t-ext4 /dev/sdb1 /system
h. Exit adb by closing the console window
5. Restart BlueStacks – go to the Start menu>type Start BlueStacks
6. At this point you should have root and read/write access.
a. Verify root using a tool like Root Check. I suggest Root Check Pro because it will point you to what the problem is if you do NOT have root.
b. Verify read/write access using a tool like Root Explorer.
I am having problem in only this line..
Remount system read only - #adb shell mount -o ro,remount t-ext4 /dev/sdb1 /system
It's telling me that syntax is wrong and no matter how try by changing the parameters etc., it's still showing me wrong parameters..

oh., I may get the solution.. Here is the tip for anyone else who is having the same problem..
Remount system read only - #adb shell mount -o ro,remount -t ext4 /dev/sdb1 /system
i can't
ok.., I have finally managed to root Bluestacks.. but here comes a new problem.. after rooted it, I am no longer able to see my mounted windows folders in bluestack anymore..
/sdcard/windows folder is empty which was earlier showing me my mounted directory through a registry hack.. well then this is really useless for me..

This will allow you to use adb and fastboot as if they were any other DOS command by typing them in a Command Prompt window from any directory.
Thanks to MERKJONES for giving me the idea... of course it only occurred to me after he mentioned it, that this would be quite useful for a lot of people besides ourselves
There are two ways of doing this.
#1
as per MERKJONES suggestion you can just add the files to your "windows/system32" directory.
#2
I like to keep my files organized in my own folders and be able to put them on any partition that I want. So to do this we just need to add the path of your folder containing adb and fastboot files to the windows Environment path.
IN XP/WINDOWS 7/VISTA
Right click on "my computer"
Left click on "properties"
Then.........
IN VISTA/WINDOWS 7 (this is an extra step for these two OS"s ignore this if you are using XP)
Click on "Advanced System Settings" in the left hand pane.
IN ALL WINDOWS
Make sure you are on the "Advanced" tab of the System Properties Panel.
Click on "Environment Variables" button.
Look for a line/variable that says "Path" in "System variables" pane.
Double click on "Path" to open a new window that should be say "Edit System Variable" or select the "Path" variable and click on the Edit Button.
Navigate to the end of the line/value and add
;path to files (where "path to files" is the location of your adb and fastboot files)
For example for me this is
;E:\AndroidFiles
So your path should look something like this
%SystemRoot%\system32;%SystemRoot%;E\AndroidFiles
Now reboot and you can open up a DOS Command Prompt window and use these programs in any directory you want by just typing them like any other DOS command.
Awesome.... I hope this can help some folks out
or as i have mentioned to MANY people in MANY threads, place the adb and fastboot in your system32 folder and you are good. but why should you use the search function when you can just post a new thread that says the same thing many other threads say

You are right of course, I probably should have checked first... so no offense to anyone there are sooooo many threads to keep up with and a search can often bring up so many threads that is easy to miss something.
Actually I am sure that although Stericson may have also written it... he is far from the first person as it is really quite a common thing ... I just wanted to help let people know there was an easier way of doing things.

No offense.... but I personally don't like throwing file after file into my system32 folder as it can get messy... hence adding it to the Environment Path
Sometimes things can be repeated over and over and still get lost in a long thread... so I tried to make it more obvious for people to find the information

you dont have to put it in your system32 folder.
Put your backed up img files (all files from nandroid backup) in the same folder as fastboot, then open command-prompt
you then need to change directory to the location of the folder with this command
cd c:\where ever the fastboot folder is
(if its just in the c drive then the command would look like this)
cd c:\fastboot
enter, and you will then get
C:\fastboot>
then just type these commands.
fastboot flash system system.img
fastboot flash userdata data.img
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot reboot
this is how i restore and have been doing it this way everytime no problems.
^^ Sorry but I think you missed the point entirely The idea is to avoid doing that so one can use the programs from any directory.
Both #1 and #2 are really just 2 different ways of accomplishing the same thing
hi im using 5.0.1H build and would like to have root terminal control back. all my commands come back permission denied. Fastboot works for me for nandroid but when i try to follow the instructions on gaining superuser i get this

C:\Documents and Settings\Owner.YOUR-D592011E4B\Desktop\Superuser>adb shell chmo

what could i be doing wrong.
Hi,
Try doing:
adb devices see if your phone is recognized by the computer
adb remount enable read /write access
Now you can use your other commands.

Hi guys, I was hoping someone could help me write a simple script that I can execute in terminal. What I would like the script to do is copy all the files from one directory to another directory on my sdcard (to cut down what i need to type in terminal each time).
For example
cp /sdcard/dir1/*.* /sdcard/dir2
I've tried to just put that command line in a unix txt file from Crimson Editor, saved it as copy.sh. I did
chmod +x copy.sh
Then tried to type in terminal
sh /sdcard/copy.sh
I didnt get any errors, but I don't think it worked. Any help or suggestions are appreciated.
My phone is a N1 with the latest Cyanogen build. Thanks in advance.
** EDIT **
I fixed the issue by using a program called GScript from the market... I made a new script in the GScript window and can now just open gscript and click the script to run it instead of typing the terminal commands. Don't know if this will help anybody else with similar newbie scripting issues, but it worked for what I wanted to get done. I'm editing post instead of deleting because I don't see the delete post button.
** EDIT **
Hi all
I bought my Galaxy S from Abu Dhabi just to latter figure out that it DOESNT come with Market, instead, it comes with a useless SLIDEME... where NONE of the major apps are available. So I searched everywhere and never found a straight answer...
Time for desperate tries than.... and what worked for me was:
I assume NO RESPONSABILITY for this, it might work for phones from other countries.
Try at your own risk.
I won’t be available to help out, I just want to share what I did and worked.
(You can find more details for the individual steps browsing this forum)
Install latest version of Kies
Install the firmware update from Kies (froyo, if already not installed)
Reboot you phone
Change the following settings on the phone:
Apps -> Settings -> Applications
Mark: Unknown Sources
Click on -> Development
Mark USB Debugging and Stay awake
Connect your phone to your PC with the USB cable
Download the latest version of the “SuperOneClick” root tool (I used 1.5.5-ShortFuse)
Unzip it to an easy folder to access by command line (DOS prompt), something like: “C:\super”
Root your phone using this tool (READ the instructions on their webpage, all I had to do was execute the SuperOneClick.exe, click "root" and wait for the process to finish, AGAIN, more details on the post about the SuperOneClick.)
Reboot
(If your rooting worked, you should see an “app” called “superuser”)
Now, on your phone, unmark the “USB Debugging” option you marked on the beginning (you will have to “disconnect” the phone click on the home button to do that)
Open a command line prompt you your pc, and change directory to where you unzipped the SuperOneClick files.
If you are you the right folder, you should see an “adb.exe”
Type the following commands (NO MISTAKES ALLOWED HERE, PAY ATTENTION):
adb shell
Hit enter
su
enter again
your phone should pop up SuperUser app, asking for super user permission for the shell, click Allow (and mark remember)
your command line will change from $ to #, meaning, you are root user.
I suggest you copy and paste the following because any mistake (missing or extra spaces) can cause serious problems
Type:
mount -o remount,rw -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock4 /system
hit enter
cat /system/ojpcom/Vending.apk > /system/app/Vending.apk
hit enter
mount –o ro,remount –t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock4 /system
hit enter
exit
hit enter
exit
hit enter
(no message will show up after this commands if they were successful)
Reboot you phone, unplug USB cable.
Market should be one of your Apps now
Thaaaaaaank youuuu
You solved it finally, it works like charm thank you,.,.,
WOW!! Great!!!
Finally i can access Android Market from Iran (via VPN).
Thanks a lot
when you do this your phone will be out of warranty.if you venture that then flash a proper custom rom which already includes latest market plus custom rom features.
I got this message "cannot create /system/app/Vending.apk": read only file system . Any help?
easy way

I've looked at all the other threads detailing how to get adb, fastboot, revolutionary, nbimg, and other applications set up on linux and there's a much easier way than typing all those commands, and editing rules files and changing permissions...
It requires little to no knowledge of linux, you only have to type one line into the terminal, and it takes about 1 minute. (seriously, time it!) Ready?
Go!
download and open file attached to this post
open terminal
type : sudo nautilus
enter your password
once nautilus opens, click on file system(on left side)
drag and drop adb (or fastboot, or revolutionary, or nbimg, or any other executable) to the folder called "bin"
close nautilus
close downloaded file
congratulations you've just installed adb the easy way.
you can now use it in the terminal without the need to add ./ before the command or the need to be root or the need to do any of those complicated things you didn't understand from any of the other tutorials.
====
Since I can already see the question coming :
How do I update? simple...
follow the previous procedure exactly the same except paste the new version of whatever into the bin folder and replace the older version. It really is that easy.
Why not do it the way the other tutorials say?
The bin folder isn't going anywhere and requires root privileges to modify so it's hard to screw it up.
If you marked the application as executable and added the path to the file in some other directory (like most other tutorials tell you to do) you may have issues if you ever modify or delete or screw up the directory where you installed it one of the other ways...
How does this work??
The bin folder houses binaries/applications that the system needs to function. By putting the files in that folder, you are telling the system that these binaries are executable, that they are safe(don't require root) and that they can be used system wide in any directory.
Speaking of root, Why don't I need root any more?
Because you put them in the bin folder, and not the sbin folder.
If you would like to require root privileges to use the included tools, follow the instructions but instead of dragging the files into the bin folder, drag them into the sbin folder.

Hope this helps someone somewhere.
Note to moderators : feel free to move this to development, if you feel that's where it ought to be...
Hello Forum!
So i am currently using a Virgin Mobile LG Optimus Elite.
After 2 days of refuge here on the forums i amazingly found a small little program that was intended to root p500 devices and worked for mine.
I did run root checker and all plus i have root access so it is rooted.
My problem is,
1.) I cannot edit my build.prop
2.) Install Xbox Smartglass (which is the whole reason i'm killing myself for all this right now)
I'm running 2.3.7 gingerbread, and the smartglass app requires 4.0 and up.
I am certain this phone can run the app.
From the very beginning i tried to take the easy path out by manually downloading the .apk from an outside source but when i try to install it
i get an error stating that it had a problem "parsing" the info.
Running my little research i found you could edit the build.prop file to make the play store think you were running another device that was compatible. Then realizing my device must be rooted first, began my 2 days long journey to root the stubborn thing.
After root success, I installed ES File Explorer. From there, i went to my build.prop, proceeded to edit it with the ES text editor. Re-wrote the 2 lines required then when i went to save, "Error occurred when trying to save the file. It will not be saved." And just left me hanging after that.
In a quick desperate attempt, i found QtADB, which i thought would allow me to edit the system files. It only allowed me access to a hand full of the root directories. I downloaded the newest android dev kit (obviously you need it to run QtADB) so i don't know what exactly the problem here is.
For my absolute last desperate attempt i decided to do it manually. I took the build.prop and edited it manually through wordpad. (NOTE: i backed up the original) I named it "copy.build.prop" and placed it back in an easy to find directory. I then opened up ES file explorer, located the file and tried to copy it to the original location but no matter what i name it or what i do in general it will not move. It keeps failing and just telling me the file cannot be moved.
I am at my last legs with this to the point where i may just give up.
I dont know what to do and was hoping someone on here would.
If there was another way to install the app? If i could install it manually? Something to get me around all these utterly frustrating and annoying errors. I've ran from error to error, fixing it then coming to another. And at this point i just dont know what to do.
The help and replies would be much appreciated! Thanks in advanced!
The build.prop file is located in the /system partition, which is by default mounted as read-only (and for good reason).
Here are some simple steps to modifying the build.prop file.
1) Fire up an ADB shell ("adb shell" from a command prompt without quotes)
2) Within the ADB shell, execute "mount -o rw,remount /system /system" without quotes. This will remount your /system partition in read-write mode
3) Open a new command prompt and CD to an easily accessible directory (e.g "cd ~/Desktop" if on a Linux box)
4) Execute "adb pull /system/build.prop" without quotes
5) Edit the build.prop file as needed with a good text editor (DO NOT use Wordpad or Notepad, I prefer Notepad++ on Windows and Geany on Linux)
6) Execute "adb push /path/to/your/edited/build.prop /system/build.prop" without quotes. This will copy your modified build.prop back into the /system partition
7) In the ADB shell prompt, execute "mount -o ro,remount /system /system" without quotes. This will remount your /system partition read-only (never leave it read-write that is bad)
8) Reboot your phone
9) Profit!
As far as the Smartglass app goes, there is likely a good reason it requires ICS and above, and simply modifying your build.prop may not be enough. Don't take my word for it though, try the above steps and see what happens.
Cheers!
