Forum Moderator - The Hammer - Galaxy Y GT-S5360 Android Development

Taking over PG101's job as forum moderator here has not been easy. So I wanted to make this thread to hopefully get this forum more organized.
As well as the regular forum rules, I ask that you follow these:
1. Ask Questions on the "[FAQ] Questions and Answers Here!" thread.
2. Be tolerant towards other members, you were once there too.
4. Don't try and take matters into your own hands, you may at any time pm me if you wish to report something.
5. Speak English, to keep it where everyone can understand it, only speak english.

[Q] Can no longer post in development forum

I am no longer able to post questions or respond to questions in dev forums. What am I missing here?
I tried to post on a HTCHD2 forum and the message I got was if you have less than 10 total posts, you aren't allowed to post. I found that very frustrating as I (i) had an answer for someone (which was educated) and (ii) couldn't ask a very specific question about a significant problem I was experiencing with the mod. So, now I'm trying to post 10 "meaningful" posts...argh.
Gents,
The rule was put in place for very specific reasons, in that new members were spamming the develpoment forums with questions that if they had bothered to search would have found the answers.
This nuisance was putting developers off; i mean what good is a develepor forum without developers???????
The correct place for questions is the Q&A forum NOT developer forums. You should ONLY be posting there if you are a contributing to the thread/development or be dev'ing yourself.
Trust this explains why, enjoy the forums and please be aware of what you are posting where.
Cheers.
Tim.
Thanks, and I do understand the thought process. But, it's discouraging to see people with 300+ posts that are posting ill-educated and noobish questions, while I couldn't post a question which was valid and I had done my research...even the developers are sometimes poor about how the threads are used. By the way, likely most of the users here are gents, but not me...:> After posting some thoughtful replies elsewhere, I was finally able to post on the "proper" forum. I do think you are getting a lot of questions in the general Q&A which would best be addressed in the proper forum, but they can't post there...Anyway, have a great day!! And, thanks for replying to us.
Okay, so you would rather questions in the Q&A section rather then in the threads dedicated to the ROMS?

The rule had said that it was applied to users that joined after a certain date but members that have been here for awhile but acquired new posts were also affected when it was put into place.
i have some questions about developing roms and i'm willing to learn and get started.
i posted my question in the Q&A Forum 19 Vies now answers on page 2 allready.
My question are directly pointed to develop roms for samsung galaxy tab. so the dev's who could help getting me started have to read but they can't since they won't look in here.
Great ^^
Frustrating because frequently no replies. For example, I posted a question - 77 views, 0 replies. However, at least I can now post on the relevant forum! LOL.
have a great day...
Hey Guys n Gals,
Let me make this clear for avoidance of doubt.
Device specific forums generally have their own Q&A section, so if it is device specific, ask it in there.
If it isnt device specific ask it in here.
Dont ask general questions in developer forums for example "how do i root my xxxxxx" , they will get moved to Q&A or at worst deleted.
These are the rules, they are here for everyones guidance and to prevent dev forums from being cluttered with n00b questions.
Trust this makes things crystal clear, if not feel free to pm me.
Cheers.

[ANNOUNCEMENT]Regarding flaming, posting new threads, and moderating technique

Alright, here's how it is. As predicted, the Sensation 4G forums have exploded with both development and new users. While a good majority of us here are from other devices/have been around XDA for awhile as this is an advanced device, there are also many, MANY new users here aswell. As such, the following apply not only to new users but to EVERYONE:
1-READ AND ABIDE BY THE XDA RULES.
2-READ THE STICKIES BEFORE POSTING *ANYTHING*.
3-*ALWAYS* USE THE SEARCH FUNCTION BEFORE POSTING A NEW THREAD.
4-POST QUESTIONS STRICTLY WITHIN THE Q&A SECTION.
5-IF YOU SEE SOMETHING AMISS, REPORT IT, *DO NOT FLAME OTHER USERS*.
Now onto the meat of this announcement. Moderation within the S4G forums are about to be kicked up a notch. Flaming has become a real problem around here, and will no longer be tolerated in any way. Simply put, you flame, your post gets deleted and you get infracted. No chances, no taking it back.
Now you may be saying, "o derp, i dont care about infarctions. tey dont meen anything". Keep this in mind, get enough infractions...and you get permabanned.
tl;dr-ANY user seen flaming, for ANY reason WHATSOEVER, WILL be infracted, no questions asked. If you see a user either flaming or being flamed, please use the report post function and send any of your moderators(myself, badwolve1 or benko) a PM and let us know what is going on. Likewise if you are being flamed, please speak up and let us know whats going on but DO NOT flame the flamer back.
Likewise, now that we have S-OFF and ROOT there is NO REASON that threads relating to either of these things that isn't about their development or enhancement, or a SPECIFIC problem you are encountering should be posted. If you have a general QUESTION about either, please post it within the Q&A forum. If you have development for either, post within the DEVELOPMENT section, of course be sure to adhere to the naming guidelines within the dev forum if you do so. New thread relating to ANYTHING about S-OFF that isn't development/issue related WILL be closed, and repeat offenders will be infracted.
tl;dr for the entire post-read and follow the rules and everything will be peachy.
This thread is closed and this subject is not open for public discussion. If you have any beef, please PM me directly here at XDA.

Moderator Contact List

Hello!
A warm welcome to both new and existing members to these Forums. These look to be exciting products, and I am really hoping to see a great community spring up here. As we like to do with a new forum, we like to introduce ourselves. The moderating team assigned to this forum include:
Team Leader/Senior Moderator @Moscow Desire
Forum Moderators @LenAsh, @cybojenix, @Divine_Madcat
I would like to take a moment to reiterate the overall guidelines of the forum, in the hope of preventing issues down the line...
1. Posting in the Development Forum. Creating new threads in the Dev Forum is restricted to development work; this may include Kernels, Root tools, ROMS, and other device developments. If you have a question about a ROM or the device, please post in the Q&A forum, so that the question may be answered correctly.
2. Arguments and Flaming. This really speaks for itself, but bears saying again. Be respectful, and be a community; work together and make this a place that is welcoming to everyone, new and old. If an argument starts, DO NOT participate in it. You have a "Report Post" button. Use it. Let the Mod's take care of it. You are not moderators, so please don't act like it. You don't make anything better by participating, and you may find yourself in trouble as well.
3. Please take a moment to search before posting; forums for popular devices can get hectic, and it is only made worse by having 5 different threads on the same topic. While mistakes happen, we need everyone's help to make sure that the boards are readable and usable for everyone. Odds are, if you have a problem, you are not the first person to have had the issue; you may very well find the solution already discussed. If a thread covering your topic is already there, please keep the discussion in that thread.
4. We are all here to help the users, and to mainly help continue the development of the devices. This is a Development site, not Facebook or other social networking sites. While some off topic banter is to be expected, please keep off topic conversations in the appropriate area; this is especially true for development threads. Too much OT makes threads hard to use for people with real issues/suggestions/questions
