Problems entering recovery mode. - Droid 2 Global General

I'm having problems entering my recovery mode. I reach the screen with the android mascot and the exclamation point, and hit the keyboard search button, and it just stays at the same screen. Hitting the soft search button does likewise. Trying to power down from there does nothing either, I have to pull my battery to turn it off.
Any ideas on what's up?

If you have Gingerbread, the method of getting into recovery has changed, once you see the android mascot and exclamation point, you hit both volume buttons, and that should take you to the recovery screen. With Froyo, the search button was what you had to hit, with Gingerbread, it is the volume buttons.
Hope this helps.

That's probably it. I am on Gingerbread so I'll give that a try tonight. Thanks!

major problem...

So... I've tried to update my rom and I've done it. Didn't like the ROM and tried to change it.
soooo. I messed everything up. My magic can't boot (it stalls on the boot screen showing "HTC Magic") and most important, I can't enter fastboot to restore a working ROM
Any ideas on this one before I go to HTC Support?

can you not get to the mode pressing home and power.
from there you should be able to use adb push to send new update to sd card

nope. Every key combined with the power button just boots the device and show the "htc magic" logo. nothing more.
I had the same sort of thing once. I removed the battery and before I put it back, I already pressed the home-key as well. Then it went into fastboot mode after I put it back in. With this way I could sent a new update.zip to the phone, flash it and then it was working again
Hope this helps

Well, it's not hard to send the update.zip. I can use a microSD 2 USB and copied it that way.
By the way I think it's the "return" key to enter fastboot. Not "home".
Tried the battery-removal trick. Didn't work.
Take out your battery, hold the volume down button and put the battery back in whilst you're holding the volume down. This in theory should bring you to fastboot. Just keep holding the volume down until you reach the fastboot screen. If after you put the battery in, nothing happens, keep holding the volume down and press the power button...
Should work...

didn't work
One other thing to try is to hold the two left most keys on the front of the phone (these are different depending on your phone brand) whilst holding power, this will take you to a recovery screen where perhaps you can do something from there?
I'm assuming you get to see a splash screen first and then you see the HTC Magic logo...

the 2 most left keys are the "answer" and "home" buttons. tried it. still getting the logo.
the phone vibrates and shows the logo...
Turn it in for repairs.

Well, I am exlcuding the green call button and the red end button (which you use to run on your phone), but if it's freezing at the logo where it vibrates, then there is a problem.
I had a similar thing, but I was able to boot my phone into fastboot/recovery with the battery trick.
My two left buttons on my device are the home button and the menu button. Try holding this down when you put the battery back in. Unfortunately, the situation doesn't sound too hopeful.

did you try powering on while holding only the home button?

flashed updated kernel, now stuck at boot

Hey guys this is my first post.
I'm running Codename 3.6.0 and just flashed AirKernel #224 (previously had #211) and ever since I've been stuck at boot. The Google logo appears, then the soft touch keys light up, then the Google logo dissappears and the keys remain lit with a black screen. The Nexus "X" doesn't show up. My power button is broken and I have been using a combination of volume rocker wake and button remapper to wake/sleep my phone. The power button has been shorted, the common failure on a Nexus S, so fastboot doesn't work, and I have no way of getting into recovery. When I run "adb devices" my phone doesn't show up.
There must be a way to fix this, any suggestions?

my power button is broken too(since last august 2011, lol), but it acts like its pressed sometimes. i pull out the battery then put it in when plugged in via usb. i press volume down as i put in the battery and it boots right into the bootloader. then i flick the back of the phone near the power button and it lets me select recovery with the volume rocker. then i flick the back of the phone again to chose recovery.

Bootloop can't get into recovery

I am running Cm11 nightly , can't remember the day i think it is 2/21. Well randomly today, the phone rebooted and went into a bootloop. I am not sure why it is doing this now. But even if i remove the battery, and replace it the phone will bootup automatically and continue the bootloop. I can not get into recovery, just Odin. I have read that people have been having trouble with the power button sticking, can anyone confirm this? Any other suggestions?
Thanks
Try volume up + home + power to get into recovery. When you see the blue text in the top left corner saying "rebooting recovery" let go of the power button but continue to hold home and Vol up

If I do this, I see the blue text in the top left but then I get the Samsung loading screen and then it shuts off and reboots.

another option if you cant get into custom recovery is to flash it with a stock rom using ODIN, you will lose everything but it might be your only option as to recovering your phone.
I have figured out that it is a hardware issue. I can boot into the phone if I continuously press the power button as it is booting up. But once it gets fully turns on, the power screen will constantly come up and eventually the phone will just reboot and start the whole process over again. From what I can see, the power button circuit is stuck in on I believe.
Thanks for all the suggestions guys. Looks like I am just going to have to get a replacement.

[Q] Help! Boot Loop with HKC A072D

So I've been googling for quite some while on this tablet, and haven't got any help.
Brand HKC Model A072D
No vol buttons, there is a reset button tho, I have tried to get into recovery with it but, have gotten nowhere. There is no firmware on HKC official site and i can't even get it to read on my pc, so that means no adb . Does anyone know how to flash or reset this? Thanks...

I have the P776A model dont know if it will work or not and this is geussing you have a home button though
holding the the home button plug in the charger and wait for a android screen to come up it will show a android dude laying on his back with his chest open and a triangle warning symbol when you see that release the home button and press the home and power buttons at the same time and wait like 1 second then release the power button while still holding the home button and wait for the recovery mode to show then release the home button and voila!! you are in. When you are there navigate using the home button and press the power button to select. Hope this helps.

Nope, it won't work, cause i used the wrong rom to flash it, and its like hard bricked, nothing on the screen whatsoever.
The only is, if you hold PWR and connect it to the pc, you hear a "attached device" noise but the installation of the drivers fail. Need help with this tab

Can't boot into recovery mode

On my SM-P900 I am not able to boot into recovery mode. I'm pretty sure I have at least a couple of times but now it will no longer work. I believe the key combination is "Volume Up" + "Home" + "Power" until the splash screen is visible then let go of the "Power" button. Am I correct? Has anybody else seen this problem with the SM-P900?
Thanks.
Hmmm, I donĀ“t know on your device, but both on my P905 and on my S4 after last firmware update, I noticed that if you continue pressing the three keys the device boots normally.
to boot in recovery, you should release the keys once you see a small blue writing (never investigated what it says) on the top left of the screen (if I well remember the position).
Give it a try and let me know if it works for you too.
@aviator1
Thanks for the tip. I tried your suggestion until my fingers bled without luck. No matter what I tried I never saw any text (blue or otherwise), just the flash screen.
I don't know about the home key, from a complete shut down I use the volume up key. I'll hold volume up first and then hold power until the very instant that the screen gets power and then I'll release power button while still holding volume up.
