You do this at your own risk!!! This could turn your new phone into a very expensive paperweight!!! If you don't know how to do it or are uncomfortable DON'T DO IT!!!
You need ADB and an understanding of how to use it and have a rooted device (although I didn't test this). You will also need a hex editor like HxD.
BACK UP YOUR DATA BEFORE DOING THIS!!!! WHEN HTCDEV UNLOCKS YOUR DEVICE YOU MUST START FROM SCRATCH!!!
1. Fire up your command prompt and go to the directory that you have ADB installed to. Type "adb shell" and hit enter.
2. Type "su" and hit enter. You now have root privileges.
3. Next type "dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0p4 of=/sdcard/mmcblk0p4" and hit enter. This will dump the partition to your sdcard.
4. Next type "exit", hit enter, type "exit", and hit enter again. This should take you back to a command prompt for your computer.
5. type "adb pull /sdcard/mmcblk0p4" and hit enter. NOTE THE SIZE OF THE FILE BEFORE THE NEXT STEP!
6. Open the file (mmcblk0p4) with your hex editor.
7. Look for offset 00000210 (if your on RUU version 1.82 the offset may be 00000214) and you should see CWS__001 with your IMEI number attached to it.
8. Change CWS__001 to 11111111 and save the file as mmcblk0p4MOD. This will give you SuperCID as well. MAKE SURE AT THIS POINT THAT THE FILE IS THE EXACT SIZE IT WAS BEFORE YOU HEX EDITED IT!
9. Now go back to your command prompt and type "adb push mmcblk0p4MOD /sdcard/mmcblk0p4MOD" and hit enter.
10. Type "adb shell" and hit enter then type "su" and hit enter again. This will put you back into the android shell and give you root privileges.
11. Type "dd if=/sdcard/mmcblk0p4MOD of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p4" and hit enter. To test if it worked restart the phone into fastboot (type "adb reboot bootloader" and hit enter) and once the bootloader screen comes up type "fastboot oem readcid" and hit enter. It should read "11111111".
12. Next type "fastboot oem get_identifier_token" and hit enter. Leave that up on your screen and go to HTCdev.com. Follow the instructions from there. Choose "All other supported models" from the dropdown menu.
For those having trouble with the hex editor portion of this I have posted a picture from Squeak22 showing exactly what it should look like. Thanks Squeak22!
Enjoy all!
Guy
Worked for me with CID 11111111.
Thanks, my friend, now I can stop that f'ing thread...

HOLY CRAP! What a great day! Thanks DEVS!
So this appears as an adaptation on how you were able to flip back and forth to older Firmware/RUUs with the changing the software version number? Nice find and congrats!
Holy big picture, batman.
Anyway, a huge thanks to all the devs who worked on this. Hopefully it still works in 4 hours when I get home

Hopefully this will work tonight.

Cant you use the downgrade RUU tutorial to get back?
Should the title of this thread reflect specifically for AT&T? Rogers users don't have to follow these steps..just some feedback!
So probably a dumb question, but does unlocking the bootloader through htcdev.com completely wipe the phone, like what happened when I unlocked my Galaxy Nexus?

You have to be rooted for that as well.
I'm kicking myself for upgrading now, but I didn't think we'd have an unlock solution today.

The process is exactly the same since you are already on stock JB. Just follow the guide and if you get stuck just ask.

I want to root using this method: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1845377
"Extract the recovery with fastboot files zip and open a command prompt in the same folder of the adb and fastboot files (Shift + Right mouse)"
if i press Shift + right mouse in the folder I don't get a command prompt. Do I need to select both files and the run as administrator? I don't get the command promt option.
I am running Windows 8

When you have your fastboot folder open press shift and then right click. One of the options in the menu should be "open command window here". That should do it unless Windows 8 has changed this.

TF300T UK Model Build 10.4.2.18
I apologise if help is on another thread which I could not find.
I cannot find on any other forum a hard and fast answer.
My TF300T is a UK model.
It has arrived with Build 10.4.2.18 already installed.
I want to root it and install a custom ROM. Like many others I want to remover some of the pre-installed apps such as Chrome.
I've rooted 4 HTC phones with no problem but I just cannot find a hard and fast post with instructions to rid this 10.4.2.18 of its factory installed ROM.
I have unlocked the device using the ASUS website.
I appreciate your feedback.

easy
just dl this file
http://techerrata.com/file/twrp2/tf300t/openrecovery-twrp-2.2.2.0-tf300t-JB.blob
TWRP Recovery for JB Bootloader. Its an older Versions which runs without any problems. The 2.3 or CWM are giving many problems to many User, so i recommend the 2.2
Take a look here
http://www.teamw.in/project/twrp2/97
on how to installe via adb or fastboot.
After that you can just go into TWRP recovery with turning on while Power and Vol- pressed at the same time
Than switch to RCK with Vol- and choose it with Vol+.
Once in Recovery you can install all JB Bootloader compatible Roms like you are used to

Help!!!!
Hi guys:
First off I just want to say that I am relatively new to all this. I have successfully rooted my Samsung galaxy S2 in the past (through completely different strategies) and I would really very much appreciated if any of you guys would be able to help me out as I have been trying to root my HTC butterfly for the last 3 hours. And I apologize in advance if the question has been raised before or is nooby, please I am desperate.
I have used a different method than the one instructed on this website in order to root my phone.
These are the steps:
Windows-based PC
HTC Butterfly
Download and install USB drivers on PC. Download HTC USB Driver for Windows
Enable Developer Options on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. How To Enable Developer Options On Android 4.2 Jelly Bean (Optional – Only applicable for Android 4.2 and above)
Enable USB Debugging on your device. How to Enable USB Debugging Mode on Android Device.
Backup your personal data on phone to PC to ensure you keep a copy of your personal data (SMS, MMS, Contacts, Internet Settings, Photos and etc). How to Backup Personal Data On Android Device.
Make sure your phone is charged to 50% to avoid interruption during flashing. How to Check Battery Level On Android Device.
Download
1. All-In-One Toolkit For The HTC Butterfly (Droid_DNA_All-In-One_Kit_v2.1.rar, 22.28MB) – Development Page
Instructions:
Register an account on HTCDEV.
With all the necessary files downloaded, extract Desire_DNA_All-In-One_Kit_v2.1.rar into a folder.
Launch the exe file within the extracted folder.
Connect your phone to the computer via USB cable.
Straight to “Get Token ID” and press “Go“.
A pop-up window will appeared in your computer. Patiently wait until the code complete run.
Right click on the pop-up windows, select “Mark”.
Left click to select the code started from <<<<Identifier Token Start>>>> to <<<<Identifier Token End>>>>. Right click it.
Back to the AIO ToolKit interface, proceed to “Submit Token ID” then “Go“.
A new windows will pop-up. Scroll down the page.
Paste the code under “My Device Identifier Token” and “Submit“
An email will sent to your registered email under HTCDev account.
Download the attached file along with the email.
Copy and paste the downloaded file to data folder within folder extracted in Step 2.
Proceed to “Unlock Bootloader” in AIO Toolkit and “Go“.
In your phone, you will be asked to unlock bootloader. Select Yes to continue.
After the code complete running, your phone will now reboot automatically.
Download CWR and place the downloaded file in the “data” folder of extracted files in step 2.
Your HTC Butterfly has been successfully rooted and with ClockWorkMod Recovery installed.
I have followed the instructions as listed and my phone did reboot and my data was completly wiped clean. However I am not able to do the last step where it tells me to place my ClockWorkMod. I downloaded the file as instructed but I don't think it worked. I installed TitaniumBackUp and RootChecker and both have suggested that my phone has not been rooted.
What should I do now? Should I try using the steps again? I'm afraid that this might "brick" my phone if done repeatedly. Any advice???
Please any help would be immensely appreciated.
Regards,
David

ADB.exe is a file on your local PC. When you do "adb shell" you are now running on the phone's shell. If you need to run linux commands on the phone you do so from within adb shell ($ or su prompt #). Once you're done, type "exit" (maybe twice if you're in the # prompt) and it will return you to your command prompt. You can then execute more adb commands like "adb push" or "adb reboot recovery".
Hope that helps! :good:

First this you need to unlock your bootloader, and Huawei requires unlock code to do so. (HINT BACKUP YOUR DATA, THIS WILL WIPE YOUR PHONE).

Command Promt
I get everything upto the command promt. When I Type it it goes "abd" is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.
Type adb instead of abd.. It will work. If you still get not recognized then you need to install android dev kit.

Command Promt
Thats what I typed, the post had a typo. So when i type Adb it comes up the same thing.
How about some pictures?
That means you do not have android development kit installed. Search forums how to install adb and fastboot

Okay, I downloaded everything and tried for hours. Didn't work. Couldn't "Unlock Boot Loader".
So being the person I am I try random things a hope for the best. I gave up with Command prompt and just went to the Android Rooting Program.
Rooted Successfully, went threw and checked.
What was the point of boot loader and will I suffer any effects from not unlocking it?

Well to my knowledge their are no custom roms or kernels compatible with The Prism 2, believe me, I've looked. So if you know any it would be helpful.
Well the reason being is the to limitation to unlocking of bootloader. Now that we are able to unlock, i am positive we can do something. I have kernel sources, i might sync git next week

Awesome, because I have the Nook Color Root with Cyrogen Mod and its an awesome experience using a custom rom, and with the lower end specs of the Prism 2 a custom rom might be able to speed the thing up.

flash to stock
Thanks for the info on unlocking the boot loader, thanks button was hit.I'm in a bit of a pickle here, I deleted quite a few system apps and ran a few scripts one of them I think messed up my wifi so I decided to do a factory reset and i should have known better. Does anybody have info on flashing this phone back to stock? I've searched and wasn't able to come up with any info. Is there any way to push the missing apps through with adb, one of them being the "2D Home" app? Any help would greatly be appreciated, thank you.
You can with adb

If you have the time, could you maybe enlighten me on how to push the apps through with adb? Would they install automatically, I have no access to any File Managers. Thank you.
You need root to push app to system.. If you have root you can also do using android os. Push es file exp from google website. When phone turns on press menu it will take you to settinga. Go in lockscreen setting and assign es explorer as one of them. Use it from there

Thank you for your reply. I'm at a lost here as to how to push the apps through with adb. I have Minimal adb and fast boot installed. Do I need to download and install Android SDK? Could you maybe share the commands I need to use please? Sorry for all the questions, I'm a super noob and I really want to fix this. Thank you.
Ok so to answer how to push a file using adb is as follow
Adb push filename.apk /system/app/
Adb shell
Chmod 0644 /system/app/filename.apk
Exit
Adb reboot

Thank you for your time and reply I really appreciate it. I have my phone working now, except for broken WiFi. Do you Know if I can flash the kernel through stock recovery having the Boot loader unlocked? I think i messed it up running the v6 supercharger script. I am researching and looking for a fix myself, i was just wondering about the kernel flash. I'm not familiar with this phone and you have a lot more knowledge about it than I. Thank you for your time and replies, I was sweating bullets there for a moment.
Download the stock rom package and extract the boot.img from it. Once you do that turn off the phone and put in bootloader (hold power + vol down) for 30 sec. It will be on white screen with tmo sign. Type fastboot devices.. You should get 24gdh23 fastboot.. Once you are sure that you are in bootloader type fastboot flash boot boot.img. make sure boot.img contains full path. So if it is in c drive it will be "C:/boot.img"

If you haven't wiped your computer, open the powershell or command prompt which ever you use and start pressing Up arrow. It'll show a history of your commands. Hope your lucky. If not then good luck. As far as I know you can use DC Unlocker but that costs 4$
