Hi guys,
I have a funny problem, I purchased "Where's My Water?" game on the Market long time ago. Since then there were already several updates that I updated and played just fine.
But for the last couple updated I started getting the "device incompatible" error.
After a small research on their support site I found this answer:
ISSUE
The latest version of Where's My Water? (version 1.5.0) appears as incompatible with the following HTC devices, where previous versions had been compatible.
Models affected:
HTC Desire S
HTC Wildfire
RESULT
These HTC devices have an app download size limit of 35MB; the current version (1.5.0) of Where's My Water? has now exceeded that size.

I was thinking, since my device is already Rooted and S-OFFed and everything, maybe there is a way to bypass this limit, so I can update the game?
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.
I've just tried to install Lil'Kingdom (74.58 MB), no problems. I've never heard anything about an app size limit.

You are absolutely right. I just tried the same and it is indeed 74 MB and I am able to install it from Market.
So what, they are lying?
I realize that there's a "T-MO version" 1.5.0, who's not compatible with Desire S.
This one is compatible: https://play.google.com/store/apps/...t#?t=W251bGwsMSwyLDEsImNvbS5kaXNuZXkuV01XIl0.

Well for me it is not anymore. It was several months ago, when I bought it. But now it says "Not compartible with your device".

I know that problem.
I tried downloading the apk manually and then installing it (without the store) and interestingly it didn't work either...

How do you download it manually? I want to try also.
I did managed to install latest version of the game after downloading the unlocked one from mobilism. But I did paid for the game, so I want it legal
One thing, which rom do you use ?
I remember that when I was on Icecoldsandwich, the LCD density was not the Desire S standart by default (220 instead of 240). So many apps became "imcopatible with this device" due to that.
hope you understand my bad english
I'm on stock rooted and deodexed 2.3.5 with Sense 3.0, so no problem here...

The guys from 10tons are talking about the same issue (happening with the Wildfire S) here:
We just released Azkend 2 Lite on Google Play and one of our own test devices is a HTC Wildfire S. It’s one of the cheaper Android 2.3 devices. After the release, we were baffled why we couldn’t find the game with that device. We saw no apparent reason why Azkend 2 Lite would filter out on a Wildfire S.
Turns out that the cache partition size where apps from Google Play are first downloaded varies from device to device. On the Wildfire S this size is 35 MB. On a Nexus S the size is 500MB. On a HTC Sensation the size was around 80MB. If the cache partition size is smaller than the app APK, the app will not be visible on the Google Play for the device. This is an interesting and unadvertised limitation that probably affects cheaper models more than expensive ones.

Two developers so far that give this explanation (3 including "2D Boy" for World of Goo)?
I don't understand anything anymore! I've already installed "Blood & Glory" (137 MB) and "Frontline Commando" (123 MB) from the store. Other games from the store show as compatible with the Desire S: "Parking challenge 3D" (40 MB), "Elder Sign: Omens" (161 MB), "Nightmare Adventures" (67 MB), "DEER HUNTER RELOADED" (237 MB).
What 35 MB cache limitation are these guys talking about?! They should get their act together..
In any case, if I'm not mistaken, the cache partition in Desire S is 295 MB.

You're correct, it's somewhere around 300MB. I checked the cache partition size first thing after I saw your thread, but it doesn't seem to be the problem.
This huge size is because /cache isn't used only for Market downloads, but also for ROM OTA updates.
Yes it is, unless you are on the 2.0.zzz bootloader.
It has 150mb less cache size

Purchased it a while back, and I wasn't impressed to see that the new update had compatibility issues on the Desire S. Decided to give ICS a spin a few days ago, and Where's My Water was available to download in the store. Downloaded it and it worked perfectly! Not sure if Sense was causing the compatibility issues, but I am happy I got it back
Because of that 35Mb limite app download size i cant install the upgrade to the game "where is my water" in my Desire S. Is it possible to do anything about it to overcome the issue?
Im having the same problem but i cant download anything ova 35mb even roms from here and my desire s was from t-mobile.
i thought mine was goin funny coz of flashing radios but dont think that its that wat caused the issue ive went back to my old radio and rom everything works but it wont let me download anything ova 35???
Just a weird question to the op?
What carrier network are you on
Edit:read my post on q and a start and stop downloads

IMPORTANT:if your custom rom has su v.3,disable log files in settings ,otherwise you'll run into permission problems,su v.2+ fine.Do the same in any rom you might run off sd.
in "what device do you have" put pyramid
"what is your sdcard block" put mmcblk1p1
"what is you system's size in mb" put 787.4
"what is your data size in mb" 1126
"what is your cache's size in mb" 116.2
these are the same for Z710e as well as the 4g
make the boot manager phone backup,it's an update.zip which you can flash from recovery should things go horribly wrong, have a nandroid backup and a copy of your custom rom on your sdcard(just to be absolutely safe) and keep your battery topped up.
There is a BM forum now
This app works fine with sensation. Running three different roms. My suggestion is to install ROM's with EXT2 not EXT4. had problems with EXT4. Nice job!
I have some problem during edit boot.img..at least do..
Can you say what rom works from sd..??
Can you upload the version of BootManager do you use..??
Anyone using this now, think sensation is fully supported now.
I used it while Testing ICS so i could still use wifi calling on GB Rom(Low service at my home), But since its running of a SD Card even tho i got a Class10 always seemed to be laggy and slow. I have not ran it since the new firmware witch has greatly helped my SD card speeds so it may have gotten better. I own the app so i will test it out again and report back. PS i Do remember that when i did use it almost every day(GB 2.3.4) when i installed rom's not everything would install(SU, WIFI Calling, ect) A restore Backup always seemed to work better for me then a Fresh install from a .zip. But i will test again and report back.
This thing works. But plenty of things that could be fixed (and better instructions).
It's my first paid app and I think it's pretty good (when it works...). Have to find which roms work. I think right now, only nandroid backups work.
It worked fine for me with every GB rom I used. I even tried all (first generation) ICS roms. It's been time that I had 3-4 roms installed to choose. No problems.
I think I cannot use ICS as system rom yet. Did they fix it?

Instead of ICS I see an OTA (downloading as we speak) that is supposed to be about-and I quote- "mail".
Has anybody received this as well?
Any idea what this might be?

Sent from an HTC device soon to be replaced by Samsung. Suck on that, HTC!!
Got it. Took less than a minute to download and install (unbranded, stock, UK). Doesn't seem to do anything visible.
Same here. Everything went pretty fast over wi-fi. Branded stock ROM.
I fail to see the logic and sense why HTC are still developing fixes etc for OLD GB ROMs. They should dedicate their time towards to bloody ICS update.
Ridiculous how slow they are. No word on the update yet, and already in May...

Regarding to the several articles I read about this game it suppose to work on the Desire S device. However GooglePlay says it's incompatible. Do you have any experience on this?

What you can try is download the .apk file, if it's free, and install it like that, it may have bugs in it because it isn't designed for it phones,I have done it for my phone on different not compatible apps and it worked then

It's not free, it costs around one buck, and I don't want to use any illegal source. BTW I did this with death rally, it is free (and it works).
What you could do is contact the developer and ask if you can download the .apk file and you pay over Paypal or something or AK them to make it ds compatible

Ok, so this is probably a weird one. I'm using an HTC One X with ViperX 2.1.2 Rom on stock kernel. I started noticing that when I use Google Search (the widget or the app), I'll search for something and when the results come up, I couldn't click on some of the results. I click on the blue text and it just highlights it once then does nothing. It won't launch the browser. So then I was noticing that it was only happening sometimes, so I continued to experiment and found that it only does it when the title of the result extends onto two lines. If the resulting webpage title is only one line long, the link opens the browser perfectly every time. This being one of the most used features on my phone, it gets extremely irritating. I've tried everything I know to try. Please help!
Bump
Can anyone help me?

Thanks for the reply. Tried that and only made more problems. I just found that when I rotate my phone to landscape while viewing the results in.google now, I am able to open any result. (Because the webpage titles don't extend onto two lines). Such a weird issue! It's like when you tap a result, the programming only knows to try to open the immediate next line.
I just tried to duplicate your issue. All works well. I'm on CM10 with full 4.2 gapps. ???? Maybe try a different ROM?

I would, but I love the viper rom so much. It's just this small issue that I can't figure out. I've tried finding a reinstall for google now itself that is compatible with ViperX 2.2.0, but haven't been able to find it. Does anyone know where i can get that?
Thanks
Must have been a super rare problem, no one else has had it like me. I since installed a newer version of viper and it works fine. I think a potential for some of the weirder random problems with these roms might be a virus scanner on your computer (if you downloaded the Rom on your computer). Seems that it might break the Rom in small ways.

Just the version that came with the rom ...can't update I because it's not compatible on the play store. I did some research and since it is an ICS rom it must be some special modded version of the JB or whatever version of Google search. All the projects trying to mod the newer Google search versions to ICS appear dead, so I figured it was hopeless and just used "Google now remover". Now I'm back to the old Google search. Funny though, as this rom is still in somewhat active development and it's specifically designed for my phone but nobody on the development thread has ever mentioned this problem. Oh well, not really a problem for me now.
If you have root you can use Titanium Backup to uninstall system apps, you could do that and then install Google Search from the Play Store which should update it to the latest version.
