At random times my phone tends to lock up for like half a second and make an internal beep noise. Does anyone know what this is?

i had a widget clicking on me, NoLoc, if i didnt turn off lock screen myself at boot it would click every hour or so to "re-disable" locking screen. widget still worked, just clicked.
i guess if all else fails. go to stock, see if it still happens.

beeping. you know how when you turn on a PC and you get a beep from the mobo? something like that. tried to go stock already but it won't fix it. might try again, but i'm more curious to see if anyone else has encountered this?
I have that sometimes where the vibrate lags a little, lasts a bit longer, and makes a whining sort if noise.
Happens mostly when Swype is thinking too hard.

I have that happen too when I'm using the Gingerbread keyboard and the phone lags.

Yes! My guess is that it's the chip implanted in your head at birth sending data back to the government through your phone

It feels like it might be the CPU when that happens to me.
Okay well sounds other people experiencing but no serious issued cause because of it. Lets hope it stays that way!

Just wondering and I've research but no go. Does anyone have problem with the end button after each call? Is there a fix? Cause my sis seems to have this problem bad and not sure if its a known problem.. thank you

Wuddup Freshly? I haven't seen you since back in the day on the Cyanogenmod MT3G forums.
Anyways, I think the problem he is referring to is when you go to hang up, the screen just stays black (g-sensor not working correctly) instead of the screen lighting up to hit end. I've seen the screen light up but not respond when taking the phone away from your ear also. Let's hope these bugs get taken care of very soon with an OTA, along with many others.
An unlocked BL would be better so I can fix these little problems myself but I'm not holding my breath to receive it soon.

I had that issue with my last Sensation. Exchanged it this morning and I am good. Didnt know wth he meant. lol

I have seen this problem with my phone... but dang, I don't even have problems with dust on my screen and if I exchange it I'm risking it... hmmm
My camera does not start up. goes to a black screen and then back to my home screen.
Any ideas on the cause of this? I am running the leaked gingerbread OTA
It just started doing this been running the leaked OTA for a week with no problems

FIX:
1. Go to Settings and select Date & Time.
2. Un check Automatic
3. Change the time to 08-01-11
4. Go and open your camera (it should work now)
5. Now you can go back and check Automatic in the Time & Date Setting

try it again.. it worked for me and a buddy.. you need to to change the date on your phone to august 1st. then try using the camera a couple of times..
once it works, just click it back to automatic for your date and time

Try the date change again. Leave it for five. Open the camera and it should work. I tried my camera and it did not work then tried the camcorder and that worked then back to the camera and that worked. Then set date back to auto.
What causes this? Is it preventable?
I loaded the leaked GB on both mine and a friends phone same time and I am the only on that has gotten the issue, or is it with the phone?

This is an issue that came up last night across many custom ROMs and stock GB RUUs. This LINK is a download for a flashable .zip that will fix the problem permanently.

No. It was affecting any ROM using the gapps with Gtalk video. Some weirdness to do with a file that uses camera mainly, but also tied into Gtalk's video feature. The fix is actually for the camera, but it gets gtalk going again.
HTC timebombed a lib used by the camera and it expired 8/31. It was probably an accident and not malicious in nature. The lib (and several camera libs) were dated back from May. Even the 2.01 alpha had newer camera libs.
As you folks have already noticed, 2.11.605.0 will NOT be the final release version, LOL.
Can any one come up with a permanent fix for the camera, because it seems to reset when the phone is powered on?

This would have explained why Uberbamf wouldn't let me use the camera then. Thx for posting the fix.
Yesterday, my gtalk app stopped working, my camera stopped working, now my phone is going crazy. Im on uber bamf and its just crazy. re-flashing isnt working or anything.
I had this problem after flashing a custom lockring. So I formatted and restored nandriod and still had the same problem. My issue was gtalk instantly fc at startup, didn't even notice the camera didn't work until I read up on this problem. I blamed it on the new cwm update that just hit yesterday because some people were having issues with it too. But apparently that wasn't the case.

Hi, I am new on forum and on Nexus S, but not with ROMS
I love this phone, but since I bought it, I have a strange bug. Maybe it appears because I did with "rom toolbox pro" a full backup of apps on another smartphone (acer liquid metal) and now I restored all apps on Nexus S.
this is the bug: sometimes (normally when I'm writing a message, or simply using virtual keyboard) it appear the "open as..." window, where I can choose to open it with gosms pro or gmail.
I tried to open it with both programs, and after this window, on gosmspro the text message is about the bug report, with 2 attached files: 1 .txt files with description of bug (but it's too long, approx 4 mb of .txt!!!) and 2 a .jpg screenshot of bug (but in the image there is simply the lock screen).
In gmail it appears the same thing. But I can't understand where is the problem or where the bug starts, so I ask you how can I find it.
I tried also to uninstall some apps (like gosms, also deleting app data) but without progresses.
If you like it, i can post the screenshot of the bug, or also the .txt or .jpg files in the bug report.
Now I'm using the CM10 , and I had the same problem with Skank ROM.
Please help me, I never found an answer on the web to this tiresome bug. : /

Yes good idea but I would found another road first to do that: I' ll lose at least 2 hours re-installing everything.....
oh, another problem doing manual installations: all saves will be lost! so I prefer to show you .txt files for now....I think you ' ll understand

Absolutely. But from experience, it's a good idea to wipe clean once in a while. I usually do it every few months to keep the problems at bay. Sometimes you'll spend more time trying to fix an issue than it would take you to restart from anew, and even if you end up fixing it that's only an issue you see. You aren't fixing udnerlying problems...
So does anything actually crash or is it just this that pops up?

uhm, at the beginning i had 5-6 crashes, but I'm sure that it was linked to the overclock. In fact, when I put 1200 mhz, I was a noobie in that (because I came from smartphones that NEED overclock to have a fluid and rapid system), and when I reset it to 1000 mhz, it never did me another crash no more.
So yes, the bug is only this popup. I know isn't a little bug, but with the passing of times, it appears more and more times, so it's tiresome.
ah, few seconds before bug, the phone vibrate 3 times (everytime).
I'm using a plastic gel cover.
ah, another little thing that I hear yesterday for the first time: the front speaker at the top, sometimes (also 2-3 times in a minute, don' t know if it do that always, as in lock screen) do a very low sound repeated for few seconds (it's hard to explain this, it seems a radio frequency as "toctoctoctoctoc")...sorry for this onomatopea but maybe its' helpful for understanding what I mean

Take off your case for a whole day, don't put it on your phone. Tell me if it still happens during that day.

my last smartphone had similar problem (microphone of acer liquid metal won' t work well with case)!!
but now the case seems to create a worst problem!! I can' t believe that this simple accessories can made theese problems ( considering that technology should give us better phones in every kind of way)....
NEWS : today, for the first time, telephone crashes 2 times: it never happens since my last OC (2 weeks ago) !!
I hope that case was problem for bug and also crashes!!

Edit: I don't believe the crashes are related however. I'll tell you the magic behind the bug mailer after you tell me if it's fixed!

Your phone case presses on VOL +, VOL - and POWER all at the same time. That's a developper feature.
You can "disable" it by turning off USB debug but I highly suggest either fixing your case if possible or getting another one that doesn't press those buttons for no reason.
Edit: I have no idea what you are talking about for the other issue though.

Just got my 2nd nexus 5, first one went back for touch screen issues. Got 2nd one and this has problem too.
If someone sends me a text the pulse notification light pulses once and that's it. No repeat. However after that if someone sends me a text it works as it should, ie repeats every 10 seconds.
Seems very random as to when it works properly. Anyone else have this issue?

Yes, people have this problem on stock rom.. It appears randomly though and not as often as you're getting. A restart fixes it... Are you using Light Flow or any app to control the LED??
No will light flow solve this?

May be, May be not. Even light flow has some random problems with LED notifications... For some people it works flawlessly, for some it doesn't... Only way is to try it out...

Trying it now seems to work ok. Strange that my last nexus didn't suffer this problem. Wounder if Google are aware of this issue?
Also on a side note not sure if it's related but I'm sure my first nexus 5 did a software update when I first took it out of the box, my new one did not do that.

Yes, I think they are aware of it... I remember reading it somewhere around XDA about it.. Can't find a link to it though.. I guess we will just have to wait for the update and see... FYI, a reboot fixes the issue temporarily..
It didn't update because the ones which were manufactured in January came with 4.4.2 Out of the box which is the latest update!

Thanks for your reply mate, for me when I reboot the first message does not work, then they seem ok after that, that's just for sms, I get no notifications at all with whatsapp etc, however light flow seems to work ok at moment but would be nice if Google did a fix.
