There a so many entries I never use which clutter up the send to/share with menu. I'll never want to share anything as bar code. Is it possible to do some tidying up in there? Thank you

Don't think so unless you uninstall that particular app, or there's an in app option
Check andmade share
A simple search in play store would have solved your query

Hi to all,XDA developers !
i'm curious to make app that will not be seen by user in his/her mobile.. that would start on Boot. and will not be visible in android uninstall list as well !!
need help of you guys...
Regards,
Piyush
If you install it in /system/app/
it shouldn't be visible in 3rd party uninstallers.
If you use Settings->Applications->Manage it's still visible.
how to hide it in "If you use Settings->Applications->Manage " ?
any trick ?
Are you trying to write some kind of malware?

Not that intention ! want to us it for 1app.
This seems pretty shady. I don't see why you would need to hide the application from the user's Application List.
...and you want it to run on boot? Hmm...
malware .. spyware .. **** lol ..
nope... ne idea ?
i got solution.....
How did you manage it?
I have an App which I'm wanting to do the same with (LocatorPro - to find phone if stolen)

Regardless of what you intended on producing...I don't understand why NOBODY has actually given you a proper answer.
I think you asked a critically smart question...as I am a new member...I joined this forum ONLY because I was looking for the answer to this question.
I am not a developer (even though I would love to learn)... but I need to know how to discreetly add apps.
The Story:
I have installed a spy app on another phone of mine. (SmsBox)
I need to hide that software completley from the list of apps AND from the "Manage Applications" list in the settings.
I want it to run in the background constantly and do what it already does.
IF someone has a solution for me...(or gets an idea on producing a new app with this feature)...please let me know.
(Since I don't know how often I will be visiting this site...Please email me at : [email protected]
Thanks!
I found this thread also looking for some way to hide (maybe disguise and lock) locator apps.
I think it would be really useful to hide anti thieves apps. They're almost useless if anybody can just take a look at the apps list and throw em away.
I've been looking for an app with that feature (among others) with no luck (Watchdroid the closest, but can be removed along its disguise and password protection).
So... any advice?
Thanks
You could write a text-mode application and just compile as a bare executable (not an apk). Just add that to your startup script (does android use init.d?), and it will be invisible to most people. You'll need root, most likely. (might be able to push over adb, then run via shell. Not sure what the permissions are on some things).

Avast anti-theft can be hidden from launcher, disguised in settings and survive a factory default wipe on a rooted phone.
I did do a search on this and found other similar questions but no real answers, so if you have seen this answered before feel free to "linky dinky" thanks!!
so when I go to "share via" a pic I get options, too many.... really I only need FB, email. and MMS, is there a way to trim this down? right now I get 2 FB, twitter, BT many more etc., I just don't need them all.... this should be my fist post here, hope I came across ok!!!

Best answer I could find, and it makes sense:
This isn't possible from an OS level. That share menu is populated by Android based on what apps you've installed declare they can open. You can look at the technical details here, but the end result is that without extra coding from each individual app to filter the results, you are always going to get the full list in whatever order Android returns them in.

http://android.stackexchange.com/questions/8112/is-there-a-way-to-edit-the-share-menu
Basically in the apps code somewhere it states that it has the ability to use the Share function, so it's automatically added. Without removing the code or removing the app altogether, Android sees the app and adds it. Might be something someone a lot smarter than myself would be able to write an app that manipulates this somehow. But from what I'm seeing it hasn't been done.
thanks man, its ok if just cant be done, everything has limitations...
Would it be possible to have a separate share app that lets you add options (like "SMS to Bob") as well as hide some of the defaults? That app itself could be registered as a "sharing" app (maybe sorting to the top of the list?) or could be launched individually. So a process flow could be to launch this share app, load up the gallery, choose the photo, choose the destination. And that process would be just as convenient as launching the gallery, choosing the photo, selecting to share, and selecting the destination. Same number of steps.
Although the question has been asked, nobody seems to be entirely clear on whether there is a -free- method of remapping the Facebook button to another -application-
So far, all I can find is the "F-button Lite" which is free, but does not allow full functionality, and "F-button Full" which is a paid app. There is also another paid app in the market that allows this functionality.
There are mentions of methods to remap the button to -other phone functions- such as camera, or turning the phone off.
However, the question which I'm having a hard time finding an answer for is how to remap this button to -open another application- such as twitter, or (in the case of a custom rom, which has HTC's facebook applications removed) to open the original "Facebook for Android" application.
Could someone please answer this in full detail?
I do not have a Google Wallet account, and I have no intention of getting one. Therefore I have no easy method(that I know of) to pay for this app.
PS: My device is rooted, so I don't mind answers that require such. but if anyone has alternative methods for those who do not have rooted devices, please feel free to also answer.
Hi Kronflux, search for Fakebook.apk on this forum. It is in non-english launguage. But that should not matter as it is easy to use. Helps to assign two apps, one for single press and one for double press of button.
Hope this helps.

I deleted the linkify stuff with root explorer and now youtube runs as an app and phone number links bring up the dialer. If you don't want to pay for RE, try Estrong File Manager, but it's root access is a bit tricky to figure out...you need to go into the settings to enable each time, I found.
thanks i was able to edit and delete the htc linkify file using the app u sugested... but im still not able to get the PHONE NUMBER ACTION screen when i click a number in a app... this is very frustrating and i dont understand y only nexus one is able to popup that screen...

I can't help you fix the issue. But as for your last question... HTC was forced to remove it due to Apple patent litigation.

I am wondering the same thing. There are obviously more threads related to HTClinkifydispatcher, and the build.prop changes that are supposed to return functionality that HTC removed to comply with Apple patent requirements. However, this is what I have found. I am able to click links, Youtube links, phone numbers, addresses, email addresses in emails, texts, etc. from my bone stock Evo LTE. However, these links will only launch in the default application selected in the HTC App Association Settings menu. After rooting and making changes to build.prop (using Build Prop Editor eliminates issues with multiple entries of the same property), I am able to get selection option menus for certain linkable items. For example, Youtube links give options for browsers, or Youtube app. Email addresses, let me choose to send email using any of the email accounts I have set-up. HTML links let me choose between stock browser or Chrome. And addreses let me select to open in browsers or Google Maps. However, clicking on a phone number simply launches the phone dialer (just like stock), and does not give me the option to send a text message. Also, email addresses and phone numbers do not give an option to add a contact.
I have discovered that options are only provided if there are options that can be selected in the app associations menu. For example, the options I have in the app associations menu match exactly with the options I am presented when clicking linkable data as per above. However, if the app associations menu does not have options (in my menu the only association I can make to phone numbers is to the phone dialer) then the default (only) option will be launched when that data is selected. Does anyone else have send SMS or MMS text message as an option for phone numbers in the app association menu, or when clicking phone numbers in text after making the build.prop changes?
I think these workarounds are close, but IMHO we still do not have the true functionality that was removed due to the apple patent.
Not sure if this correct forum and if I've even got the menu name right. But on my one plus nord it called share with. Id know i can pin apps ut as I dont get a full list be default without having to click another button. With Instagram incising on put direct as the first choice and not my feed.
Does anyone have a way you can remove or modify the list of apps shown. With out the need to route please .
Did search but just kept getting apps about sharing apps and not what I'm after.
Thanks guys and girls
